Amazing as always! Have loved every Paige Toon book and this one didn't disappoint.
The beautiful Cornish scenery. The characters and the timeline were all spectacular.
I honestly thought I had reviews this already!! Omg Paige is just my favourite favourite writer ! She has done it again with this beautiful story told over 7 summers ! I loved the characters I loved the setting I just loved it all !!! I’ve read all of her booked to date and recommend to everyone all the time. Go and read it it’s the best of the best in this genre
I think I haven't read a book by Paige Toon that I haven't loved, and let me tell you, I have read all her books except one, so that's a lot of books. I know she always takes us in an emotional journey and Seven Summers delivers exactly what I expected.
I really connected with the main characters, I felt for them, I rooted for them, I felt conflicted by them and I was surprised several times on how the story evolved. Although I will admit that this is not by far on my top Paige Toon books, it is still a very good story. This shows how artful Paige Toon is as an author. Her characters are always multilayered, interesting and relatable and her descriptive writing always makes it very easy for me to picture all the setting and feel like part of the story.
I really enjoyed Seven Summers and how the story had several twists in store for the reader, keeping us in our toes. As usual, I am already missing Toon's writing and I am already looking forward to her next book.
I found this book VERY slow to begin with. I wasn’t really invested until 3/4 of the way in. I felt that the trauma was shoehorned in a little. I enjoyed the twists and turns at the end but it felt very rushed. Not her best unfortunately. The last quarter saved the rating from being a lot lower
This was a brilliant book. It was a vivid, emotional and realistic story. The summer coastal vibes were immaculate. The story was full of deep complex family situations and relationships. It was full of massive highs and massive lows.
I was absolutely there in the book with the characters. I’ve noticed that I really like books that are told over a long span of time. (I Love you, I Love You, I Love You & One Day etc). I felt every raw emotion alongside the characters. The love story hurt my heart.
I hadn’t read a Paige Toon book in so long, despite her being an author I rated so highly in adolescence. It was an absolute treat to be back in one of her books.
Highly highly recommend you read before the summer is out.
Thank you to @netgalley and @randomhouse for my digital copy of this in return for a review
4.5/5
Can Paige Toon dissapoint? No, she can not! This was just a great summer read. I love crossover past/present.
I really enjoyed reading this.
As always, I was not left disappointed by a Paige Toon novel! Opening her books is like deep diving in to a whole other world. On this occasion, we're on the Cornish coast following our mc, Liv.
I loved how the story jumped back and forth between the past and present, adding depth and great character development. The addition of Tom was an interesting twist and I wondered how it was going to affect Liv's relationship with Finn.
This was the perfect beach read to finish off the summer!
You know when you read a Paige Toon book, you're going to get so much more than a lighthearted romance. Her stories always have such emotional depth and I've come to expect twists and turns rather than a predictable romance. Seven Summers was no exception.
Liv and Finn have a relationship that’s a bit like Emma and Dexter’s in One Day, with a connection between the characters that spans years. Paige Toon does a great job of building their bond, making you really root for their love, even with all the ups and downs they go through.
Tom was a great addition and while I'm not usually a fan of love triangles, I could see why Liv fell for them both.
There were unexpected moments in the story which I always appreciate when reading a romance. However, I did find there were pacing issues. The first half of the story felt quite slow and then when a significant event occurs towards the end of the book, I felt it was quite abrupt and rushed. For me, this meant it didn't have quite the emotional impact it should have done.
Having said that, I did still really enjoy Seven Summers, and will definitely read whatever Paige Toon writes next.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Liv and Finn met when working in a bar six summers ago when a night of passion ends in devastating tragedy. Fin is a member of a band that live in LA and Liv lives with her family in Cornwall. Finn vows to return to Cornwall every summer and spend the time with Liv.
Fast forward to this summer when she meets Tom who she starts to fall for. Liv needs to made a decision on if she gets her heart broken every summer when Finn has to leave or can she move on with Tom.
Paige Toon has been one of my favourite authors for many years and is showing no signs of stopping! I loved this book, a perfect summer read for anyone going on holiday
Quite an emotional read from start to finish – be warned!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Seven Summers is a duel time love story that follows Liv and her life in Cornwall. She falls in love with Fin but he lives in the USA. They agree he will visit each summer but when Tom comes in the scene, Liv has a decision to make.
This is a great summer read due to the relatable characters and heartbreaking storylines.
GORGEOUS!! I read this over two days at the beach. I’m still not sure about the ending, but I GET IT! How can you choose between Tom and Finn?! Great pace, great characters, great setting. I love Paige Toon.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. A heartbreaking tale of love, loss and hope. Liv deserved to be happy after so much devastation and the outcome left me speechless. An absolute joy to read and I cried so many tears of happiness and also tears of sadness. I would recommend this book highly to everyone. 5 stars.
A hauntingly beautiful tale of love and loss.
First up, this story is not only set in Cornwall, which is my favourite place on Earth, but centres around St Agnes and Chapel Porth beach. Although I'm slightly sad that no-one had an 'iced hedgehog' at any point!
Seven Summers delivers everything you'd expect from this genre of book. Long running friendships, romances that never run smoothly and a happy ending. As much as I love books like this, I do find them slightly unrealistic. But that's not a bad thing, I read too escape to other worlds/places/times etc.
This book served as a reminder that sometimes, no matter how much we love someone, we have to let them go. Because sometimes love isn't enough and other things get in the way. Sometimes the timing is wrong. Sometimes that corrects itself, and sometimes it doesn't.
4.25 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Seven Summers follows Liv through seven summers, the first in which she falls for emerging musician Finn.
Finn follows his dream in LA but visits his family in Cornwall every summer.
The pair decide that if they’re both single they will continue where they left off and enjoy their summer together.
I ADORE ADORE ADORE a childhood friends to lovers and this solidified my love for the trope.
I did go in blind and I was expecting a relatively light-hearted summer read and wow how wrong was I. This pulls on your heart strings hard!!
Emotional and packed with the nostalgia and excitement of first love.
I do think I found it a little too emotional to be a good beach read (just personal preference), but definitely a fantastic summer read with an incredible Cornish setting should you find yourself in the mood for a good cry.
I’m a bit embarrassed to say this was my first Paige Toon but it absolutely won’t be my last!
This book captured my heart and made me gasp, swoon, sigh and cry simultaneously. The characters leaped from the pages and into my life, taking me along with them on their life's journeys. I celebrated with them for their achievements and wept with them for their heartbreak. I feel like this story was such a wonderful realistic story of a trio's journey through life and I couldn't forsee what was going to happen next, each summer being that little bit different from the one before it. The epilogue truly sealed the deal and made this a story everyone should read!
Oh my what can I say! Sobbed! Smiled! Loved! My first Paige toon book and it has me racing to get more of her work!
Loved the story and the characters, so well written and will 100% be recommending
I loved how raw and real this was for me, it was full of promise and romance and emotion that I couldn’t put it down. I adore Paige Toon and the way she writes it just captivates me in every book of hers I read. This was both heartbreaking yet heartwarming and bought a tear to my eye for both purposes but it’s such a perfect beachy read that I guarantee you’ll read in one sitting!
I adored this book! Meet Liv, home from from university and trying to save enough money to move to London at the end of summer. Then she meets Finn and what starts is one of her greatest loves. Until tragedy strikes, Liv stays in Cornwall and Finn goes back to LA after making a deal that if they are both single each summer, they will spend the summer together in Cornwall. This started six summers ago.
This summer however, she meets Tom who shows her that her heart can love without being broken every year. Faced with an impossible choice, what path will Liv follow?
The writing for this book pulled me in instantly, more so than I expected. I felt the pain that Finn felt every time that he had to leave and how Liv rarely put herself first. I loved Michael, Liv’s brother, with his brutal honesty towards each character. The sibling love between Liv and Michael was relatable and heartwarming.
I wasn’t sure about the ending however. It was a lovely ending but it also felt predictable as I could see how it was going to end from quite a few chapters prior.
This book pulled me out of a reading slump so I would highly recommend this for anyone needing a boast.
