Part three in the Morgan fae romance. I was glad to have the fourth on hand to pick up once it was done.

Empress Morgan has once again found herself in harm's way. After running off from Draven and Siabra responsibilities, she has returned to Pendrath to save Kaye and her former kingdom from the tyrannical Arthur. She has no idea who to trust and a new suitor more cruel that Florian has taken an interest in her. What is a married fae empress to do?

I really wanted to rate this like a 4.25. I LOVE it, but it didn't leave me salivating for the next one like my typical 5⭐ reads. I'm already diving into Book 4 and I am hoping the culmination of this series knocks my socks off. I love the world that has been created in these books and I will be sad to see it go. The characters are still as complex, yet relatable as ever. I'm so glad I found this series.

These books just keep getting better. The POV changes thew me off a little at the beginning but then we settled into Morgan and Draven. Watching the bond between Morgan and Draven solidify is just *chefs kiss*, and Draven with the shadow magic....I'm sorry WHAT?! I absolutely adore Hawl and I hope to see him and the ship cook as a side enemies to lovers, that would just tickle me to no end. The build up to the big bad has also been top notch, I'm hoping with the ending of this book behind us we'll get a little more back story on this guy and why he wants to take over the world (isn't that what they all want?).

Born of power in endless night, to cast down realms, a dark birthright. Both fae and mortals, their thrones shall swirl, in the child's hands, lies the end of the world."💫

Easily my favorite of the series thus far! Full of court intrigue, magic, even more betrayal than the previous books, war crime on top of war crime, rebellion, and packed with action towards the end...this book did not disappoint. This is book number three of a four book series.

Plot:
Based loosely off of Arthurian lore, we have a re-telling of the story of Excalibur. We pick up where the last book ended... Morgan has jumped through a portal of arches back to Camelot shortly after finding out she had been tricked into becoming Empress of the Empire of Myntra and had married Prince Draven without her knowledge. When she returns home, though, she finds Camelot to be in even more disarray than she believed, with Arthur committing monstrous atrocities against his neighboring kingdoms and former allies. Trying to help, she finds herself amidst a rebellion led by Merlin and in a perilous situation as a spy back in Arthur's castle. She also learns that she can walk in her own dreams, and in this dream state, she must confront the mate she left behind in Myntra.

Characters:
After wanting to punch Morgan the entire second book, I quite liked her in this one. She grew up a lot being separated from Draven and almost immediately realizes she made a mistake in leaving him behind. Her spoiled brat attitude shifts into that of someone who has to learn to take care of herself and be responsible for the people around her. She also learns to have gratitude for the love in her life. Morgan's still a wee bit annoying, but nowhere near as bad as in the last book.

Draven is just Draven.... Ultimate daddy status. Violent towards enemies, but tender for those he loves. Protective. Caring. He is hurt that she left him, but heeds the advice of those around him and acts like the responsible ruler that he has always been meant to be. We love us some Kairos fucking Draven. Woooweeee. The relationship between Draven and Morgan really solidifies in this book... And there's some serious spice🔥if that's something you look for when reading.

💫 “Yours is the only kingdom I'll pay fealty to. Yours are the only feet at which I'll willingly kneel. I'd rather be a villain by your side than play the hero for anyone else.”

The side characters in this book were of course as strong as ever. Orcades was one of my favorites in Empress of Fae. She was commanding, strong, knew how to handle Arthur, knew her own mind, and took absolutely no shit. I loved her. Arthur and Fenyx on the other hand can suck a donkey-sized dickkkkkk. Honestly, I don't know which of them was the most awful human-being... Probably Fenyx? No, Arthur. No, Fenyx? Definitely Fenyx. They were both such well-developed villains, though.👏🏼

Writing:
This book started out with a 4-person POV which I was pretty excited about to be honest.... But then all of a sudden, it was only 1-2 POVs throughout the rest of the story. Mostly, Morgan. So I'm not sure what the point of including the other two POVs were in the first place?

This book is definitely darker than the first two in the series, filled with torture, executions, and other monstrous war crimes (not to mention a population of non-nobility starving to death in the streets). The tone set in this book is so different and creative. The worldbuilding in this series has grown from book 1-3. You can really picture yourself in the world Boleyn has created and I love that.

Overall Thoughts:
EMPRESS OF FAE ABSOLUTELY ATE. I would definitely recommend this series. It's been great so far. The characters and world are continually evolving and I am excited to see where the plot takes us in book number four. If you are looking for an enemies-to-lovers romantasy or a fae-based King Arthur novel this would be a good series for you.

💫 "She haunted my soul. She was my constant reverie. The vision of all I longed for. She was the constellation that guided my destiny."
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Big thanks to NetGalley for access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Empress of Fae is the third book in the Blood of a Fae series and this time we follow Morgan as she returns to Camelot, where Arthur's rule has caused war, leaving the people starving and terrified. Rebels and traitors are being executed and hung in the streets while the king and his new queen live in luxury. It's up to Morgan to return to the castle and spy on Arthur to help bring him down and end his reign of terror once and for all.

I was very happy to see Morgan returning to her old friends and her old ways, becoming the strong fearless character she was in the beginning of the story. The communication and romance with her mate was really great and I look forward to seeing what happens next now that they are reunited.

The world building continues to be impressive, and it was really nice to have more than just Morgan's point of view, however each perspective was written so similarly that they didnt seem to have their own voice.
I love the way this author incorporates parts of the original King Arthur tale into the story, it gives the book a high level of intensity and shows how dark and evil Arthur really was.

I really did enjoy this book and can't wait to see how the story ends.

I'm not sure why it took me this long, but I finally figured out the King Arthur thing.. why names and what not were familiar. But this... this whole storyline has brought to light another side, so much less talked about. Twisted. Addicting adventure. More secrets revealed, identities revealed... relationships accepted... even more in love with Morgan/ Draven.

Honestly, I cannot get enough of this book series!!!!!!
It is so well-written and the characters have immense depth, even those who aren't at the forefront of the story.
I am so excited to start the final book in the series now and see what the conclusion to these wonderful characters and this beautiful story is.
Thank you so much for such an original and captivating tale.

Yet again the 3rd book in the series delivers in buckets!!!
No filler books in this series!
Having so many POVs going on as our protagonists are separated, I did expect the story to suffer some fracturing, but both sides of the world are expertly threaded together by the author.
If anything the differing POVs increase the drama and drive in the story.
Again the magic and myths of Arthurian Camelot are reimagined in a unique way, and while some fantasy series may suffer from feeling the same as another, using these legends to craft such a unique world, sets this series apart.
Each book in the series gets better and better, and it's nice to see Morgan’s character developing across the books.
If you enjoy epic fantasy books with unique worlds you will devour this series; no cliff hanger this time, but a building anticipation for what will be an epic finale I'm sure

Thank you, NetGalley & the author, for approving my arc request for this whole series.

Wow! This series just keeps getting better and better I couldn't put this book down from start to finish. This author's writing reminds me a lot of Rebecca Yarros.

Empress of the Fae is the third installment in the Blood of the Fae series by Briar Boleyn. I was given a copy to read and review by NetGalley. Thank you Netgalley and Briar Boleyn for the copy! I have posted this review on GoodReads and Amazon as well.
I gave the first two books in the series 4 star reviews. I'm giving Empress of the Fae only 3 stars because compared to the first two books, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others. I absolutely loved the first two books.
I don't like to give away spoilers in my reviews, but it may be necessary in this case. If you have not read the first and second book, I would not read more of this review.
My main disappointment is with Morgan's character development. Boleyn is attempting to set her up as a strong female protagonist who is going to be the one Fae/human to save everything in the story, however Morgan continues to make questionable decisions and constantly needs saving herself. She has a lot of power which she struggled with and often ignored in the first two books, and now after one lesson with Draven, she is proficient. I find Morgan to be frustrating and too stubborn. I dislike strongly how she constantly pushes Draven away and only realizes her folly when she impulsively leaves. Draven is giving her everything and she chooses to believe he is lying and refuses to acknowledge her own feelings. She is supposed to be a strong protagonist who overcomes her insecurities.
I really love the fantastical world that Boleyn has created with the magical creatures and the majority of the characters. Draven is a gem. His character development has been spot on. I feel I continue to read because of these facts and not to find out what happens with Morgan.
Boleyn is a wonderful writer. I am looking forward to reading the fourth book! I still recommend the Blood of the Fae book series highly!

Firstly thank you to the author and her team for sending me an arc of this book. ❤️

I asked for Kairos POV in the 2nd book and we finally got it in this one! I know that the reasoning is because they’re separated most of the book but I absolutely love dual POV and I hope the author continues it in the last book.

Morgan has fled from Kairos and heads back to Camelot and becomes a spy for the group of rebels but she never really reports on anything? That’s my biggest criticism because it was meant to be a big plot point.

The best part of the books were the shared dream chapters with Morgan and Kairos (which are quite spicy most of the time)

I also super enjoyed the plot twist with Arthur and his motives. That was set up really well in the earlier parts of the book!

I’m very excited to see what the last books brings us and how this series wraps up ❤️

My favorite quotes:
Kairos - “But what I do know,” he whispered, his breath hot against my skin, “is that you deserve to be worshiped as a fucking goddess, as the warrior princess that you are. You deserve to have every inch of your body adored all night long. You deserve to be fucked until you scream.”

Kairos - “I'd rather be a villain by your side than play the hero for anyone else. The world is dark and vile, but I'd willingly follow you into the depths of hell itself. All I want to do is shield you. Do you understand, Morgan? You're my redemption, good or bad, right or wrong.”

Morgan - “I see your shadows, too, Draven. And I'll only burn for you.”

Briar Boleyn's Empress of Fae is the third book of the Blood of A Fae series. While the first book focused on the MFC's uncertainty and the second book focused her anger, the third book focuses more on the MFC's strength, and the emergence of who she is, not just as a Fae, but as a woman and a wife. This book sees her grow in power and self-confidence, and the transformation from the first book to now is absolutely remarkable. The strength she possesses to not give up and let others keep her down. Every time she gets knocked down, and every triumph she experiences, you feel as if you, the reader are right there by her side. Every tear she sheds, you feel as if want to wrap her in your arms and give her a shoulder to cry on. Just be thankful, book four is the conclusion of this remarkable series!

4.5⭐

OMG BOOK 3 HAS DUAL POV!!! That's what got me excited, seeing as Morgan and Draven were apart. I loved how they kept meeting in their true dreams otherwise I couldn't have handled the MCs being apart for a whole book. Briar's writing is becoming richer with each book and keeping me engaged from the beginning till the end.

Thank you to the author, publisher & netgalley for giving me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

A lot happens in this fast-paced book. Characters we thought were lost are found, new characters are introduced, and they do not disappoint. We are back at the Court of Roses, where it all seems to go from bad to worse. We see Draven following his love, his Empress, with an army. Merlin is stronger and more cunning than we had imagined (so far, we can only imagine as far as Morgan’s perception). Camelot’s story is quite at the forefront in this installment, and what a ride it is! I love how the author remade this classic, reimagining different aspects while retaining the essence, even the non-fairytale elements, which were shocking to read about. I don’t like spoilers, so I am doing my best to keep them to a minimum… but what a ride! And that end, when her own Court shows up at just the right moment.. Sublime!

“All or nothing. In dreams as in life.” Blood of Fae Book 3 gives its all and is a dream. Draven & Morgan’s devotion is unmatchable. Morgan’s love for her brothers is a refreshing addition to all the emotional turmoil in this series. Her loyalty to her friends is both brave and endearing. Intense & heartwarmingly tragic.

The third installment of the *Blood of a Fae* series offers another action-packed adventure, filled with political intrigue and danger lurking around every corner—not just from the Fae, but from humans as well.

Morgan's return to Camelot through a magic portal sets the stage for a high-stakes mission to save her kingdom from the scourge her brother, Arthur, has become. Meanwhile, her husband, Kairos Draven, is determined to reunite with her, stopping at nothing to be back by her side, despite their separation. As their time apart stretches, Morgan begins to understand that their bond goes beyond blood and marriage; it’s much deeper and more complex.

The book features intricate plotlines that span kingdoms and oceans, delivering intense action and a feast for the senses. From start to finish, it captivates with the manifestation of Morgan's powers, the revelation of her true lineage, and the blossoming of her love for Draven into something profound. The inclusion of multiple perspectives and new characters enriches the narrative, taking readers on a thrilling ride.

This series is perfect for fans of *ACOTAR*, *From Blood & Ash*, and *Fourth Wing*. However, readers should check the trigger warnings at the end of the book before diving in.

Thank you to Netgalley, Briar Boleyn, and Starwater Press for providing an e-copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for access to this book in exchange for my review. This is book 3 in Briar Boleyn's Blood of a Fae series and not a stand-alone read. This was a solid 3.5/5 read, but it wasn't as good as books 1 and 2 which is why I'm rounding down to 3. With the major cliffhanger of book 2 and Morgan finding herself back in Camelot and discovering Lancelet is alive, I was expecting a more engaging start to book 3. It took me a while to get into the story. There was a lot of catching up with what happened in Camelot while Morgan was away and formulating a plan, which seemed to drag a bit for me. It wasn't until I hit the 40-50% mark that I was drawn in like I was with the first two books of the series. That being said, I still am really enjoying this series. There's a lot going on, and Morgan and Draven's story is such a good one. I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out in book 4!

Book three in the series found me longing for more. There was action, adventure, deceit, and romance but I missed the strong connection that had been so abruptly ended in book two with the exit of Morgan through the arch. I did like that we were able to focus more on Morgan and her abilities. I can’t wait to see how this series ends!

Love this series!! Highly recommend for anyone who enjoyed Gild, Throne of Glass, Crave, or The Bridge Kingdom. It’s a binge worthy series and once you start you won’t be able to stop. I spend every free moment I have to read this. Couldn’t recommend enough. Draven and Morgan <3
