Classic Karin Slaughter, a tense and gripping narrative with a dark, dark underbelly. We Are All Guilty Here introduces a new cast of characters in a smallish town, with the quintessential claustrophobia such settings evoke, but with the sinister secrets you're anticipating. There's nothing particularly new or different here, there are some twists but not the take-your-breath-away kind - but it's solid and hard to put down. Fairly long, though!

Truly outstanding page turner of a book. Karin Slaughter never disappoints. If you’re looking for your next read this is it.

What a masterpiece!! This was two books in one really and I loved the way it was set out into a past and then a future. To see characters develop and age in one book was a joy and a tragedy. Towards the end of the second half I wanted to go back and read the first half again. A real pleasure that I was disappointed to finish. She left me wanting more.

There is a new sheriff in town and she is called Emmy Clifton-Lang.
Karin Slaughter does not disappoint as yet again she has you on the hook straight away.
An absolute masterpiece and a start to a brand new series featuring a new, freshly minted, standout female protagonist, Emmy Clifton-Lang.
If this is your first Karin Slaughter or already a fan of her work, no one will be disappointed.
It touches on some very sensitive topics but has done so with a lot of care and respect.
I almost read this in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down but sleep forced me to stop. I loved Emmy and her father Gerald Clifton, they made the book come to life, especially with their own acronym, “DFR,” Doesn’t feel right.. A brilliant strategy for working a case.
I am ready for the next book now! Hopefully the wait between books won’t be too long. Emmy feels like a friend and I cannot wait to meet her again.

My Rating: 4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ new series from KS, I was pretty happy with it!!

If you are a Karin Slaughter fan, or even remotely into any of her series… lets be real you will read this without even giving the blurb a glance. Just like I did!!

I saw new series and went hell yeah sign me up.. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy from NG and I didn’t think twice about starting this bad boy!!

So, it follows new character Emmy Clifton, she is a police officer with her dad (sherif) and later her son (officer) in a small town in of course Georgia called North Falls. It is a small town and dun dun dunnnnn of course there are murders and mayhem.

When I picked this up I was pumped to see it wasn’t 600 pages, its 400 and then I started reading and our KS does take the scenic route to get anywhere at any time. We get a lot of descriptions of the heat, clothing and what people are doing… it does take a bit for this one to warm up (or should I say for me to warm up to it) but once it got going I was hooked. There are two timelines you get the first one then you get 12 years later…

It isn’t specific who’s POV you are getting (I think this might be cause of the ARC) but to me it was clear if we were in Emmy’s or Judes or someone else’s.

I quite liked Emmy I think she had the potential to be a real bitch but I actually ended up really liking her, she has flaws, she knows what they are and she is haunted by the crimes of 12 years ago.

In true KS form she pulls no punches with her violence and subject matter although I will be really honest the r@pe that is in this book is WAY more toned down and implied than her other books. Some of those scenes in her other books are wildly graphic that is not the case here. But dont let that fool you into thinking this is a breezy story it is still brutal.

Overall, It was good but who am I kidding.. I am now a KS Stan and I am stuck to her like glue. If she writes I will read. I mean there is one book I haven’t read of hers and a couple of her back catalogue but thats not to say I wont go back… but I will be reading book two. I think people will like this and I am gonna be real, its great to get away from Sara and Will for a while. I like Will, Sara is grinding my gears but yeah its good to have some new characters. My fave in this book is Jude by far, she is badass, and flawed and awesome loved her!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper Collins and Karin Slaughter for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a fabulous read this was from start to finish. Karin Slaughter writes two of my favourite books series; Grant County and Will Trent. I was unsure if this would live up to my high expectations, but it has surpassed them.

Emmy Clifton, the deputy sheriff, is the main character in this book. She, alongside her dad, who is the sheriff, are looking for two missing girls.

The book had me hooked from the first chapter, and I struggled to put it down. The story is gripping and has you going backwards and forwards trying to guess the outcome. The characters themselves were very well written and likeable. Emmy herself is fascinating, as is Jude, who has come from the FBI to help with the case.

I do hope that this will be the start of a new series as I believe it has the making to be as good as her other series. The ending of this book was very powerfully written with twists I didn't see coming at all. It definitely leaves you wanting to know more about the characters and where their lives will take them.

Another good book from Karin Slaughter. This one is about missing teenagers and the family of the small town’s police force. Two girls go missing on the night of the 4th July celebrations. One of the girls is the daughter of Emmy’s best friend. Emmy feels, with highsight, that Madison was trying to tell her something but she dismissed it having had a problem with her husband and the guilt she feels is all consuming. The whole town starts looking for the girls and eventually they are found, not a good outcome. Years pass and another girl goes missing and the drama starts again. Is it the same perpetrator or someone new to the town. Investigations start and stall for a while. Emmy is struggling with her mom who has Altheimer’s, a father (who is the chief of the police force and not well) and keeping her search together. Emmy’s son is also in the police force. Into the story comes Jude. She has just retired from a high ranking job in government and comes into the town. Why this town – it all comes to light as the story progresses. Jude is a calm person who can get people to talk and tell her things they would not normally say and she helps to solve the crimes. I did not anticipate the people who were the criminals. The book has many characters and all fit into the book really well. I can recommend this book wholeheartedly

Oh my goodness, what a book, it just keeps on giving. So many storylines, big and small opening up just when you think you've got it all sorted in your mind, makes this book unputdownable. I am so going to miss the Clifton family now that I've finished We Are All Guilty Here. Karin Slaughter is the master storyteller. A fantastic book.

Always excited for another Karin Slaughter book and this one was worth waiting for.

When young girls go missing in a small town it is time to panic and find out who is responsible. When the same thing happens several years later, the question becomes was the wrong man convicted?

Emmy is working in her father's shadow and dealing with a husband that does not fulfill her. When she inadvertently does not respond during a possible plea for help, the consequences tear apart relationships and things are not the same.

I LOVED all of the new characters introduced and I am hoping that this series continues. There were so many twists and turns, some you saw coming and some that were a total surprise. Slaughter does a great of building that small town feeling, where everyone knows each other and so many lives seem connected, but secrets still live under the surface.
It is more than a police procedural, but an examination of choices, change consequences deception and accountability.....along with forgiveness.

I can't wait for the next installment.

North Falls is a small town, and like all small towns it has its secrets. Some decidedly more disturbing than others.

When two teenagers go missing on fireworks night, there is enormous worry about what is happened to the girls. And nobody is more worried about it than Officer Emmy Clifton, feels that she might have prevented this from happening if she had acted earlier.

But is that true? Or does Emmy simply not know her town and its inhabitants as well as she thought?

A gripping read in a new series by a celebrated author, this one should not be missed!

Truely Karin can do no wrong for me - I really hope we get a new series with Emmy Lou - the Clifton family have a lot of secrets and think they could make for an excellent series.

When’ two teenage girls go missing the clock is ticking for Emmy to find them, one being her best friends daughter.
A twisty turner thriller, with Karin’s signature fantastic characters

Despite a little bit of a slower start, once I got into this I was absolutely hooked and could not put it down. Each page seemed to bring more questions as Officer Emmy Lou works to find out who is behind the disappearance of two teenage girls, one of whom happens to be the daughter of her best friend. This personal touch adds another level to the story, and really helps when it comes to blending both sides of Emmy's life - the personal and professional.

Given the subject matter, it should be no surprise that We Are All Guilty Here is absolutely heart wrenching. It deals with very difficult and very real issues, which Karin Slaughter doesn't shy away from and handles with the perfect amount of care and sensitivity.

With twists and turns that keep coming right to the end, even when you think there's nothing left to reveal, I think this is an absolute must for anyone who loves crime fiction. It may be a difficult read at times, but it is incredibly well done and is a fantastic start to what I think is going to be a brilliant series - I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of Emmy Lou and co!

Welcome to North Falls, a small town where everyone knows everyone. Or so they think. Until the night of the fireworks. When two teenage girls vanish, and the town ignites. For Officer Emmy Clifton, it’s personal. She turned away when her best friend's daughter needed help and now she must bring her home! Great book! Wow! My poor heart! Hopefully this books not based on a true story?! It was definitely an emotional read! It had great suspense, gruesome murders, kidnapping, torture, rape, intriguing, fantastic characters, a great who done it and some wild twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! It was a fantastic read! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

As always I raced through this new karon slaughter one off, it was a great read full of twists and turns that I loved. Fully recommend

Set in small town America this is a story about a place where everybody knows everybody until it seems they don't really. It begins in North Falls on the 4th July when almost everyone is out watching the fireworks. Officer Emmy Clifton is tasked with keeping the peace but her husband is refusing to look after their child and after a row with him she brushes off her best friend's daughter who apparently wants to talk to her. This is a gut wrenching mistake she has to live with for the rest of her life as the town is immediately plunged into the search for two missing girls.
Some of the material in this book might be sensitive to people but it is all dealt with quite carefully and considerately and keeps the attention on the investigation and the reactions of the small town community rather than dwelling on the crime in detail. Not only is the town good at keeping secrets but the Clifton family have secrets of their own and by the end of the book nothing is quite as it seemed.
With plenty of twists and considerable pace keeping the plot moving forward, this is a powerful thriller and an excellent read.
With thanks to Netgalley and Harper Collins for an arc copy in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book although it does include graphic descriptions of injuries and bodies.
I felt that the discussions while the police were trying to solve the cases was interesting and very carefully planned. The details were added as the story went on and led the readers to try to make deductions.
I found that I was very keen to pick up the book and continue the story and it reached a complex but clear conclusion.
A great read.

We Are All Guilty Here starts on July the 4th. Clifton County, Georgia, is celebrating with the traditional picnic and fireworks. Teenagers Madison and Cheyenne have other plans, the family friendly annual celebration no longer holding their interest. They are giddy making plans that will take them far away, too eager to leave their families and childhoods behind.
Chief Deputy Emmy Clifton has an incredibly hard line to run. She has to help lead an investigation into the two young women’s disappearance, as well as being Madison’s stepmum’s closest friend, as close as sisters. This might be seen as a conflict of interests in larger communities, but in such a small town, it’s all hands on deck.

I have been a fan of Karin Slaughter’s writing for years, and this book didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed the well developed, richly drawn, flawed characters, I really felt like I knew them. Their relationships were intense and complicated, with so much simmering below the surface quietly; sometimes, not so quietly.

The setting of North Falls has that small town feel to it. The residents have known each other for years, families have a history dating back generations. The County is named after the prominent local family, descendants of which are still very much the movers and shakers in the community; some doubly so. Long held memories are hard to erase, grudges worn proudly.

We Are All Guilty Here is an extremely good, well plotted thriller. It is also a story of family, the best of it, and the very worst. The love that binds and protects, the hurt that can be inflicted; pride and resentment growing with passing years, widening deep divisions.

I really hope that we might see more of Emmy Clifton in the future. She is a strong character, with a lot of history that would provide an interesting, and intriguing ongoing backstory. I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping, intricately woven, murky 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thriller.

Karin Slaughter, as always, delivers. I was hooked from the opening pages, and the story barrelled right along. Filled with regrets, desperation, heartbreak, determination, strength, absolutely everything. Pacing is excellent, of course. Honestly, I would read Slaughter’s grocery lists.

The story is intense, twisty, and incredibly well written. I didn’t want to put this book down at all. I also like the little Easter eggs she puts in her books.

Would highly recommend this, solid standalone and worth a read.

I am always eager to read the newest Karin Slaughter, and this one does not disappoint! Far from it…I very much hope that this heralds a whole new series set in Clifton County.
Emmy Clifton is the daughter of the town Sheriff, and deputy sheriff herself, she is a strong, smart, but flawed character, wracked with guilt when two teenage girls are abducted and she believes she could have prevented it….if only…..
The subsequent events have deep repercussions in a small, close- knit community, and when another girl goes missing, tensions and tempers run high.
I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll say no more, but this is a twisty, clever story. Slaughter deftly ramps up the tension, and you are with Emmy every step of the way. The misdirection is excellent but you get ‘lightbulb moments’ at almost the same time as Emmy does.
The pace as you approach the denouement is almost breathtaking; I did find myself holding my breath at times as I read!
The subject matter is dark, and some may find it disturbing, if they have not read Karin Slaughter before. And an interesting twist or two at the end.
If you want a pacy, well-plotted thriller that will keep you guessing, this fits the bill!
