Lucy Greer is out of money and out of options when she's offered a job that seems a bit too good to be true. Thomas Caine, a millionaire artist, hirers her as the live-in caregiver to his wife Emilia. Emilia is silent since she had a heart attack when her teenage son vanished and their housekeeper, Consuelo, can't manage both the house and Emilia anymore. From day one, the mansion feels wrong. The housekeeper won’t talk. The ex-wife won’t leave. And Emilia? She may not speak, but she knows something. Something dark. Something dangerous.
As Lucy digs deeper, cracks begin to split through the Caine family’s polished facade. And what she finds behind them could destroy them all.
Twisty, atmospheric, and full of secrets, The Wife’s Silence is a psychological thriller that doesn’t let up.

One word to describe this book is wow! It’s also a book of survival, family, never giving up and never being possessed by someone. Emilia thought she met the man of her dreams when she marries Thomas Caine. Thomas a successful artist loved his wife until she realizes it’s not love it’s an obsession. She lost everything until one not at a bar in a drunken state Emilia has sex with a man and becomes pregnant. Whose baby is it? James is not Thomas son and Emilia is now in hell. Unthinkable happens James leaves and never returns.Emilias life is over or is it. Here enters Lucy who is now Emilia's full time care giver. Also entering is Meridith Thomas first wife who really makes Emilia’s life a living hell.
This books had so many twists and turns. I figured Thomas to be horrible human being who needed to possess everyone. If he didn’t get his way, everyone would suffer consequences. What I did not see coming is who Lucy really was and how Consuelo the housekeeper fit into this game of cat and mouse. Loved this book. Grabbed me in from the beginning. Couldn’t put it down.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm for the ARC. Plus a big thanks to Amanda McKinney for a great story. 4.5 stars.

This was an enjoyable psychological thriller! When I first started reading it, I was afraid the plot would be too similar to other books that I've read. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were some surprising twists that really made this one stand out. I did wish that there was a little more mystery to this one, but overall, it was an enjoyable read!
3.5 rounded up

This was a GREAT story to listen to! AWESOME narration! Great main characters. The plot was easy to find. The story was engaging and easy to follow. Will be purchasing this book. Shout out to Netgalley and publishing for allowing me to listen and review this story.
4 STARS!

At first glance, The Wife’s Silence feels like a story you’ve read before—familiar, almost predictable. But Amanda McKinney expertly pulls the rug out from under you. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the twists hit, sharp and unexpected, shifting everything you thought you knew.
The short chapters kept the pace quick and addictive—I flew through the pages. McKinney doesn’t waste time over-explaining or dragging out character backstories, which I really appreciated. Every detail feels intentional, every scene pushing the story forward.
What truly impressed me was how the author played with expectation. She lulls you into a false sense of security, only to completely upend the narrative in ways that left me genuinely shocked. That kind of control over a reader’s assumptions is the mark of a skilled storyteller.
For me, this was a solid 5-star read—clever, fast-paced, and deeply satisfying. Amanda McKinney proves that even when a story feels familiar, it can still surprise you in all the best ways.

This book had me clutching my coffee and whispering “no way” at least five times. The Wife’s Silence starts off like a simmering domestic thriller—secrets, suspense, and a wife who sees everything—but then McKinney throws in a twist so wild it actually made me sit up straight. Like, mind blown.
The pacing is tight, the atmosphere deliciously eerie, and the suspense builds with every chapter until it punches you in the gut, in a good way!! This was an absolutely gripping read with major “just one more chapter” energy and a very satisfying ending.
If you’re into psychological thrillers with sharp writing and a seriously fun twist—you’ll want to grab this one and cancel your plans.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley.
Wow! This is one of the best books I have read this year so far. A massive twist and one of the best endings I've ever read.
The story follows Lucy as she arrives at a mansion in the middle of nowhere to start her new job as live in caregiver for Emilie, Tom's wife, who suffered a stroke and now is mostly bed ridden and needs full time care and can't communicate.
I will be recommending this book to everyone. I absolutely loved it! The twist came out of nowhere and I loved the ending.

It's not often that I get my hands on a thriller and am absolutely taken by surprise by a twist. But to be caught unawares by a second twist? What an unexpected treat! And The Wife's Silence by Amanda McKinney is the book that left me gob smacked.
McKinney artfully builds the tension as her main character Emilia endures progressively more horrible types of psychological and emotional abuse. Her plight is revealed slowly through her own stories, as well as those of Lucy, her new caregiver, and Thomas, her husband and abuser. And that plight is heartbreaking and unfortunately familiar to many who have endured, or known someone who has endured, similar trials.
The reader is swept away by the superbly written story; this is a book that will sit with you for a long time after you read the final page.
I am grateful for the ARC of #TheWifesSilence from #StormPublishing and #NetGalley, and I highly recommend you don't miss out on this powerful book.

Just when you think you've figured it out, the plot takes another unpredictable turn, pulling you deeper into its utterly thrilling storyline. McKinney’s ability to weave complex characters with suspenseful narrative makes this a must-read for any thriller lover. Trust me, once you start reading, you'll find it impossible to put down! Highly recommend!

4.5 stars!
Lucy Greer is hired to take care of Thomas Caine's ailing wife, Emilia, in a beautiful but mysterious home where dark secrets lurk. As Lucy delves deeper into the past, she uncovers lies and deception that will shatter the facade of the seemingly perfect family.
Well, well, well, let me tell you about this book that started off feeling a bit familiar, but boy did it take me on a wild ride! We've got multiple points of view - Emilia, Lucy, Thomas, and James - all distinct and playing their parts perfectly. The character development is top-notch, making it nearly impossible to tear yourself away.
The setting is so well-described that you'll feel like you're right there in the thick of it - secluded, claustrophobic, and just plain gut-wrenching. And let me tell you, the twists in this book will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. I thought I had it all figured out, but oh boy, was I wrong!
If you're a fan of guessing games, shady characters, and buried secrets coming to light, then this book is right up your alley. This dark thriller is about revenge, deception, and the masks we wear to hide the truth. Just a heads up, there may be a few triggers along the way, but nothing that should stop you from diving into this absolute gem of a read! Enjoy!
Thank you, Storm Publishing, for the digital ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This incredible psychological thriller is disturbing, tense and packed with twists!
The story goes back and forth between past and present, multiple POV’s, revealing so many secrets, and so many surprises.
Lucy starts a live-in job as a caregiver for Emily, who doesn’t speak since her son went missing. The Caine family has so many buried secrets as Lucy goes deeper uncovering the truth.
I love Amanda’s writing style and this is a super fast read, I got hooked since page one.
Thank you so much to Storm Publishing, Amanda McKinney and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

An entertaining, twisty domestic suspense read. Told in then and now timelines, this was a quick, easy read.
There was an unexpected twist that stretched belief a bit but which added to the story. There was a satisying ending replete with karma which I loved.
Thanks to the publisher for this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Wow. This story certainly keeps you on your toes trying to guess who is responsible. Everything from lies deceit to murder and blackmailing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I loved how it is every characters voice telling their part of the story. Highly recommend reading. You won’t be able to put it down.

McKinney knows how to captivate her readers. A house full of secrets. The wife is being cared for by Lucy. Emilia’s husband hired Lucy to take care of his wife who is basically in bed with meds. Their son has been missing for years. They also have someone who takes care of their home.
They all have secrets and when they come out you will be hooked. I love all the multiple points of view.
With the title, you know this will be a good one and McKinney delivered. A home filled with secrets that will keep you wondering.

I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
This is a new author to me
The cover is what drew me in - it really is stunning
The book itself is a great read
I devoured it in one sitting and couldn't put it down
Loved it

The Wife’s Silence is a whirlwind of suspense, layered with sharp twists and a storyline that refuses to let go. Amanda McKinney masterfully weaves all the elements a thriller lover craves, tension, intrigue, and revelations that land like jolts of electricity. More than once, I found myself smiling in disbelief at the plot turns, each more unexpected than the last.
At its heart, this is a story of a narcissistic husband and a silenced, abused wife, locked in an emotionally complex, interdependent dynamic. McKinney paints a chilling portrait of manipulation and survival, giving readers a raw and unsettling glimpse into a relationship that echoes far beyond its two central characters. The ripple effects touch everyone around them, making the story feel both intimate and far-reaching.
I was utterly gripped throughout, devouring each chapter with the urgency of someone desperate for answers. And yet when the final page turned, I found myself yearning for more. The ending, while tied up neatly, leaned a touch too close to the familiar. I craved something bolder-perhaps a fiercer revenge or a final twist that would haunt me for days.
Nevertheless, this is a thriller I would recommend without hesitation. It’s the kind of book you start with a casual glance and end up racing through in one breathless sitting. The suspense is relentless, and the emotional undercurrents cut deep. If you’re looking for a read that plays with your mind and your heart, The Wife’s Silence delivers, dramatically!

I really enjoyed this book, a page turner from the word go, the chapters a very short and each one is narrated by a different character’s perspective, fabulous!
My first book by Amanda so far will definitely be looking up more of her work. Thank you for the opportunity to read.

This book said 'sleep is for the weak' and I listened. This twisted and dark psychological thriller will hold you from beginning to end. It’s been a hot minute since I read a book like this and boy did it hit reset for me. Alternating POV’s and multiple timelines make the pages fly by. Toward the end of the book make sure you pay attention to whose POV you are reading from, but the amount is perfect. The pacing allows for the perfect number of red herrings and unknown’s.
Emilia and Thomas Caine have a tumultuous and abusive marriage. Thomas can trap people in his web and keep there indefinitely. He controls everything. To go against Thomas will only lead to failure. Flash forward to meeting Lucy Greer, a washed up ‘psychic’ looking for work and sees an ad that Thomas Caine listed to care for his disabled wife, Emilia. As soon as Lucy enters the house, she knows things are not as pristine as they seem and the more she looks, the more questions come to light.
Get this, read this and sleep later!

The Wife's Silence started off really strong — the kind of opening that pulls you in and makes you think you're about to dive into a gripping psychological thriller. I was hooked at first, ready for twists, secrets, and that page-turning mystery that keeps you up at night.
But as the story went on, I found myself… less invested. There wasn’t a central mystery that I was dying to know the answer to, and that made the second half of the book drag a bit. When the ending came, it felt a little too neat — wrapped up with a bow instead of delivering the kind of unsettling or surprising payoff I was hoping for.
Thomas, one of the key characters, was especially confusing. His motives were hard to follow, and honestly, I couldn’t figure out what he was really about. Some plot threads felt either underdeveloped or missing altogether, which left me with more questions than answers (and not in a good way).
Overall, it’s a decent read — the writing is solid and there are moments of tension — but I would’ve liked more mystery, more thrills, and more depth. A good book, just not a great one for me.
Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for giving me the ARC.

I fell in love with Amanda’s writing after reading one of her Mad Women series books. I have read all her thrillers, and each one has served as further proof that this lady can write, and that I should keep stalking her new releases forever and ever and always. And this book was no exception.
Also, I kind of dislike it that I have to bring this up here, but excuse me while I still do it. This book made me realize something quite unexpected. When did Verity become a household name? Moreover, when did Verity become a genre in its own right? It’s weird and confusing, mostly because Verity is one of the most poorly written yet extremely popular books I have read, and while there are more than just a handful of books with a very similar storyline and tropes, Verity is the one that always comes up. So, this book starts with what I’d call extreme Verity vibes. A disabled wife, locked inside her own body, a handsome husband, a creepy house, and a woman is hired to help the wife… yup. It’s all there. And then, it all goes uphill from there. Uphill as opposed to going downhill, because isn’t that what usually happens when something is being compared to something else, right? Because it’s like Verity on steroids, it’s so much more twisty, so much more darker, so much more weirder. And, yes, it’s so much more well-written. So much more well-told. And the twists are so much better, too.
So, this is what you get for writing a Verity vibe. You get compared to it. And my verdict is in: this one wins. This one is better. A lot better.
The book’s pub date is set to the end of May. So, it’s coming soon. If Verity trope is one you love, it’s time to add this one to your TBR. Thank me later.
