My thoughts:
I really wanted to love this book. I love vampires, magic, romace..etc
Sadly, this book were not for me.
The first chapters were fine I guess, even though the writing style were bothering me a bit.
I really struggled to continue readling after 40%.
The pacing was weird, all the characters were angry/filled with rage/hatred all the time *insert eyeroll*. The romance came out of nowhere, and almost gave me a wiplash. I mean, I knew there would be romance- obviously. But the maincharacters lacked chemistry, and the romance really went from 0-100 in one chapter.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC!

💭 Thoughts-
Honestly, when I read this most of my reactions would be described in one simple emoji and that is 🙄. This whole story seemed wayyy too generic and without any unique qualities to make it stand out from other books I’ve read like this. The pacing also just seemed super off and weird and the chapters lacked depth and any real meaning or anything to it. The romance also progressed way too quickly, and she was just trusting him for no reason whatsoever when she obviously shouldn’t be. All in all, though, I did not like this book and would not recommend unless you want a super generic vampire romance book.

Emotional, dark, and full of twists – I couldn’t put it down!
This story pulled me in straight away. The beginning was heartbreaking and intense – watching the main character’s father get murdered and seeing her promise to take revenge really set the tone. From that moment on, I was hooked.
What I really enjoyed was the relationship between her and the vampire. I love stories where enemies are forced to work together, and this one got it just right. There was tension, mistrust, and that slow build of something deeper. Their moments together were full of conflict but also strangely moving.
The world itself was great too – dark, mysterious, and dangerous. I liked the idea of the Sunfire Court guards and the forest that seemed alive. Everything felt well thought out and easy to picture.
And then came the twist at the end – I didn’t see it coming, but it made me rethink everything in the best way.
If you like dark fantasy with strong characters, emotional moments, and a bit of romance and danger, this book is well worth a read. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the next one!

Honestly, the first 25, especially, gave me extreme whiplash. The pacing was inconsistent, and it felt like we were going through the basic motions of a book without any genuine emotion.
The romance was lacklustre, and there were no real stakes. I did not care about the characters cause there was no reason to.

Vampire and human romance - the romance is better than twilight and even the trees have more personality too! Ithink this is a really good first book for world building and learning the characters. It was very moody and haunting in vibe.
My only issue was that each scene was very fade to black and into a new one without a lot of assistance to the reader on how we got there. I think as this series goes on this will improve and it's really a small detail in comparison to how much fun I had reading this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
While the setup had all the ingredients for a gripping fantasy romance, it took me a while to get into the story. The pacing felt uneven—slow at first, then jumping between action and world-building in a way that didn’t always flow smoothly. I also felt like something was missing emotionally or thematically to make me fully connect with the characters and stakes. That said, the enemies-to-lovers tension and forced proximity with Nyx definitely had its moments, and there’s enough intrigue to make me curious about what happens next.
Hoping the second book brings deeper character development and more consistent pacing, because this world has a lot of potential!

To be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this book. It had a lot of good parts, but the quickness of the story made me not enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I will read the second book to hope for a happy ever after ending (hopefully there is one) and the smut (this was the part written well). I didn’t hate the characters, I didn’t hate the story, the smut was good, and I enjoyed the vibe. It just didn’t make sense how it all takes place in a span of a week. And sure there is magic and stuff but if she’s primarily human, it doesn’t add up. I think this needed to be longer and have the story play out longer as well. I get vampires hunt quickly but it was just too fast.

Why do you think I request this book? even I question myself haha. Obviously its about Vampire.
So, what I like about this story was that it has a strong magic personality especially how the author make the forest alive, I like that part its dark and mythological.
The opening of the story was good and written perfectly until few chapters that I think it going slow or down like less point. I dont get to know the FMC really well since it only mention about how her life after her father's accident. I mean the personality traits didn't mention well.
The time facing also confusing since it did not mention what time or how long she been in the forest. Because of that I think everything happen too fast or its only 1 week, I'm giving timeline by myself there xD.
And what kind of romance is this? which one she like?? and why the MMC so weak like seriously?
the FMC all big talk and do nothing (well she planned and thinking about action but still big talk and all)
Overall I enjoy the book even I'm closing to dnf the book, it should be standalone.

I love the storyline and where the story is going. This book as a little hard to start, as for what is driving the FMC seemed to be brought up a lot and felt a little repetitive. I do like the MMC and FMC together, although I feel like their development in their relationship could have been more clear. It almost felt like they went from hating each other to being together. I am looking forward to book two to see how the story develops.

Definitely an interesting read! I was hooked from the beginning, and it was very fast-paced and easy to follow. The writing style made it easy to picture and imagine. The world was set up really well. I liked learning about the vampires and the Dark Lands. Lilah is such a strong character, so I wish we got more of her personality. I wish we got more foreshadowing. The romance almost appeared out of nowhere. I wish it were a slower burn so we could get more of Lilah and Nyx getting to know each other more. I was pretty confused about how the magic system in this book works- I wish that was explored more. Overall, a fun read, but I wish we got MORE.

Thank you NetGalley and Kay Marrie for an ARC of this book.
This was a quick read, but a slow start. It took a while for me to get into it. I enjoy a good vampire romance especially when it’s enemies to lovers. I felt like something was missing from this book, but hoping there is more in the next one. The pacing was a little all over the place. Our female main character Lilah, wants revenge against the vampires for killing her father when she was young. Which leads her to become the first female guard for the Sunfire Court. Our male main character Nyx, is a vampire who basically saves her life and then kidnaps her for his own gain. Hence the enemies to lovers.

📚🩸✨ ARC Review Time! ✨🩸📚
Just finished A Court of Blood and Sacrifice and I am screaming, crying, biting the pillow kind of OBSESSED 😭🖤
Enemies to lovers? ✔️
Cursed vampire captor with “annoyingly gorgeous” energy? ✔️
Deadly forests, dark secrets, and a slow-burn tension so thick it could suffocate you? ✔️✔️✔️
This book had me at "ripped out his throat" and never let go. The MC? A certified vengeance queen 👑🔥. And the vampire love interest?? I was like, "girl, stab him... but maybe also kiss him??" 🗡️💋
The chemistry? Palpable. The world-building? Deliciously dark. The twist about her past?? I GASPED. Like full-on clutch-my-pearls moment 😱
If you love morally gray vampires, knife-to-throat tension, and a heroine who takes zero crap—this one’s for you.
⚠️ Warning: Will cause major book hangover & the urge to pledge loyalty to the Dark Lands 🦇🩶
Thank you NEtgalley for ARC

Enemies to lovers, dark vampire romance — need I say more?
I devoured this book in one sitting. The story pulled me in from the start and didn’t let go. It’s only the second vampire romance I’ve ever read, but I’m already obsessed. The chemistry, the tension, the dark twists — it all just worked. And that cliffhanger? Brutal, in the best way. Can’t wait for the next one! 😉
Oh and Nyx is 🥵

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for providing me with an earc in exchange for an honest review. This book comes out June 15.
I enjoyed this book. I had a lot of fun reading it. Fast pace, the wolrd is interesting, the characters are dark and some funny. I like the main character and love interest. I can't give it fully 5 stars cause the romance happened way too fast for my liking and there was a scene with the main character where she just acceped the statement right away without more questioning. I'm just like,, "really? that's all it took to convince you?' Other then that, I loved it. Can't wait for the sequel

This book had me hooked! A Court of Blood and Sacrifice delivers everything I love in a dark romantasy: enemies-to-lovers tension, vampires, and so many twists I didn’t see coming. Lilah is a fierce and determined heroine, and I was completely drawn into her journey for revenge and survival. Nyx, the broody vampire prince, stole my heart with his onion layered personality and chemistry with Lilah — the tension between them was delicious!
The pacing was fast, the action nonstop, and the world-building was vivid and immersive. I couldn’t put this down and read late into the night because I had to know what would happen next. Add this to your TBR right now.

Review: A Court of Blood and Sacrifice by Kay Marrie
A Court of Blood and Sacrifice by Kay Marrie is a fast-paced, imaginative fantasy that blends classic vampire lore with fresh character dynamics. The premise immediately drew me in. Our heroine, Lilah, is an orphan who’s survived years on the streets before being taken in by a farmer. Haunted by the vampires who killed her father, she dedicates herself to training and ultimately becomes the first Huntress in her kingdom. The concept is compelling and sets the stage for a gripping story.
Lilah starts off as a strong and determined lead. I was excited by her quest for justice and the idea of a female warrior rising against the odds. As the story progresses, she faces intense emotional and physical challenges that cause her to question herself. While I initially struggled with this shift, I came to appreciate that her vulnerability made her feel more real, because honestly, who wouldn’t falter when facing supernatural enemies? It added depth and relatability to her journey.
Nyx, our male lead and the brooding vampire prince, was another standout. I loved his name and his layered personality. Outcast by his cruel father, the vampire king, Nyx walks the line between duty and his growing feelings for Lilah. Though he isn’t the most powerful vampire, his emotional complexity and determination made him a memorable character and a believable anti-hero.
Overall, this book sits comfortably at a 3.5 to 4-star rating for me. There were elements that I truly enjoyed and a few that I wished had been explored differently, but that’s part of what makes reading so personal. If you enjoy stories with dark royalty, reluctant heroes, and themes of revenge, redemption, and hidden legacies, this book is worth adding to your TBR. With tropes like forced proximity, insta-love, and hidden family secrets, it offers plenty to sink your teeth into.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book! I was hooked from the beginning and I love the writing style and the characters I felt like I was right there with Lilah. I can't wait for the next book.

This is my read by this author, and let me say it did NOT disappoint. I really enjoy the paranormal/romantasy scene. In addition the take on this story is your fae fantansy that is intertwined with Vampires, Humans, and Other Monsters, with some magic.
The book is fast paced, easy to followed, and PACKED with story. I could not put it down once I started it. From start to finish there is something happening, or a unexpected twist, that kept me at the only one more chapter, us bookworm usually find ourselves in.
"Dont Underestimate a woman raging in fury. She might just burn your world down". The story is about a girl who watched her dad get murdered and then vow revenge. There is great character development and world building throughout the book, however I wish that there was more insight on the "Monsters" as I just want to know more about them, hopefully more to come in book 2.

This one was fun but slow moving. Uncovering secrets from her past, finding solace in who she believes to be her enemy, and having her whole life upended is only the start.

This book sounded so good when I saw the description for the arc. Unfortunately I struggled with this one. It felt as if it started with this great layout and plot planned out but then parts fell through due to flow errors or rushing development of characters. I liked them don’t get me wrong but it just wasn’t consistent with the how they were and how the story flowed. I felt like certain aspects were really cool like the forest system. How it was not just living like normal trees and such but actively a part of the way of protecting itself and others. I feel like if there was more time for the character development and their relationship and not the same exact problem happening every other chapter then I would be able to get more into the book. I really wanted to love this book but it just wasn’t for me.
