I LOVED this. This book really grabbed me right from the beginning and didn’t let go. The first night I started it I was all, ‘just a couple of chapters before bed’ and there I was 2 hours later still going 😂
I loved Jessie a lot and I loved Brooke and Jessie’s dynamic and their relationship. I truly love a road trip romance and with the added thriller/mystery esque element??? Count me in.
Do you have to suspend disbelief a little at times? Sure. But did that really bother me? No. I loved that the chapters were named after cassettes in Brooke’s car- that was a really nice touch for me.
I will say this does cover some heavy topics, particularly regarding abuse, so make sure to check your content and trigger warnings before reading.
Thank you very much to Penguin Random House UK Children’s and NetGalley for the ARC!

A pair of runaways and a killer vintage mustang, this thriller holds a slow burn romance to die for. We follow two very different characters in the form of Jessie and Brooke, with a shared mission of leaving town that leads to them joining forces for the road trip of a life time.
Genre-wise, a thriller-romance is new territory for me but I absolutely loved it, combined with a coming of age arc for our characters this is perfect for fans of authors like Casey McQuiston. It's gritty, from the drama of untouched crushes, to the traumas of adverse childhood experiences such as domestic violence and emotional abuses.
Compared to Thelma and Louise, our teenage duo put their foot on the pedal cross-country with cops and other sinister characters on their tail and from the romantic tension to not knowing where the next twist would take you this was a truly unput-downable read.

RUN AWAY WITH ME feels like it’d be the PERFECT summer read. When I say I devoured this … I mean I read it in less than 24 hours and couldn’t put it down ! Like. I was reading til 3 am.
I am obsessed with these characters. I loved watching them grow close and reading their relationship as it developed. I want MORE PLEASE !!!! Like. ASAP. I just love this so so much. I want to know more about Jessie’s life after the end of the book. I need to know if Brooke gets to open her garage.
This is a perfect debut. I am so going to be looking out for more from this author.

First of all thank you for approving my request!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The authors writing style had me hooked throughout this book.
I didn't want it to end, a book I really couldn't put down.

Run away with me is a YA, road trip / run away tale. We have mouse (Jessie) who has packed her bags and is on the run after discovering something rather unpleasant returning from school. Whist on her way to get out of town Brook (her crush) rolls up in a classic mustang and offers to run away with her.
The aim is to get to Disneyland however things as per usual do not go to plan, dodgy dealings, motel living and a classic cassette tape of choice playing at the same time. There is some shady characters that’s leads to traumatic character building for both girls. There is also a smidge of young budding love.
This was enjoyable but I’m not really sure a YA setting is quite correct, some parts seems childish and other areas traumatic with elements of being rather far fetched. I wanted to love this but at points I didn’t really understand the purpose, I think if the characters maybe had been early to mid 20s maybe that would have worked better.
Neither of the characters have actually done anything to really put themselves in the positions of needing to run away, Brooke is more around wanting control of her privileged life and well Jessie, that’s a whole other story that I am not going to spoil.
Great idea, enjoyable tale but I feel it needed more fleshing out. I would recommend if you want an easy read. I was given the opportunity to read this arc prior to realise on the 5th June via NetGalley.

High-speed road trip that started at a run and did not stop til the very end! I absolutely raced through this, in a slight state of anxiety about what was going to happen to them next, and rooting for them to get through it! Can see a lot of the young people i work with devouring this one.

This book was simply brilliant! I was absolutely hooked right from the beginning and the fast paced plot had me whizzing through

A coming of age tale crossed with a road trip, this story follows a pair of unlikely protagonists who become travel companions for very different reasons, not expecting to discover any real common ground between themselves.
It doesn't look good for Jessie when the abusive stepfather she loathed turns up dead. The last thing she expects is that her escape will involve a girl who is not only her polar opposite, but someone she has been crushing on for years. Brooke is pretty and popular, this Jessie has always known. But she's also surprisingly pleasant.
Now, Brooke and Jessie may both find that they get more than they bargained for on their joint escape...
A charming story that gets 3.5 stars, this one is definitely worth checking out for those who enjoy the genre.
