Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an early copy of You Can Trust Me. Whoa this was a WINNER!!!! Paige is SICK, like PSYCHO sick. Who knew Taryn was the same? Great plot, great characters, great Book. The gaslighting that was done to Amelia was nuts. I’m sad the book is over, I really enjoyed it.

I absolutely love Miranda Rijks books and was super excited to immerse myself in her latest book. There were multiple twists and a lot going on between the characters. Great story, very suspenseful and fast paced- it was really hard to put it down! Loved the characters and multiple points of view. This author never disappoints. Love her writing style and can’t wait for her next book! Definitely recommend.. Thank you to NetGalley, Miranda Rijks and Inkubator Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fast paced thriller. Very wild concept from start to finish. I found the conflict to be a bit juvenile for grown women and unrealistic at times. A lot of mentions that the main character is "crazy" and that's why she is doing bad things. I thought the author did a good job with the different character point of views. I did not care for how much derogatory language against lesbians was in this. Some of it came out of nowhere from different characters. I was able to predict the ending and felt like it took too long for things to be figured out. I do think if people want a quick read and enjoy melodrama this would be a good fit. A quick summer read on the beach.

This was a fun and wild ride. I love Toxic female friendships and this scratched the itch for a binge worthy read. Miranda always hooks me in with her twisted tales of scandal and deceipt.

You Can Trust Me really puts the psycho in psychological suspense. Loaded with so many secrets, lies, and deception, this twisty thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat to the very last page. Miranda Rijks is a new to me author, and I will be checking out more of her many thrillers after reading this one!

It all starts with a scam order of a new dress for Amelia's life to start unraveling. Fellow yoga instructor and friend Paige comes to the rescue, and it brings them closer. Their daughters also become good friends, so it's like one big, happy circle. But we all know what shows on the outside is not always what is happening on the inside. As Amelia's marriage unravels and her finances are in the toilet, Paige becomes more desperate to "help."

This fast-paced read is so filled with tension you'll find yourself holding your breath. Alternating perspectives gives the reader a clear view into the minds of all the main characters and the evilness that lives within. The well thought out twist at the end will leave you reeling. This is a must read!

Thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for the advanced copy

You Can Trust Me is a gripping psychological thriller that expertly creates a constant sense of unease.
From the very first chapters, the story feels anxiety-inducing—not because of fast action or graphic scenes, but because something always feels off.
You spend most of the book unsure of why things are happening the way they are, constantly questioning every character’s intentions and doubting everyone, which keeps the tension consistently high.

Interestingly, this isn’t a traditional “whodunit” mystery. As readers, we know exactly who is doing what, thanks to the alternating POVs of the main characters. That said, the real suspense comes not from uncovering the culprit, but from watching the psychological manipulation unfold and wondering how far it will go—and when things will finally snap.

There is, however, a solid plot twist toward the end. While I personally saw it coming, it was still satisfying and effective. It completely shifts the reader’s perspective on the story and adds an extra layer of depth to the narrative. It doesn’t rely on shock value but instead recontextualizes much of what we thought we understood.

Miranda Rijks does a great job of building tension slowly, creating an atmosphere that feels both claustrophobic and unpredictable.
The book isn’t about flashy reveals; it’s about the slow, creeping realization that you can’t trust anyone—not even yourself.
If you’re looking for a domestic thriller that keeps your nerves on edge and your mind spinning, this is a strong pick.

The twists in You Can Trust Me come hard and fast! Amelia has fallen victim to a scam - a crappy dress that obviously was a fake and too expensive for what she received. That one mistake will cost her - her reputation, her husband, her daughter, her job - are all on the line.

Told from multiple points of view, You Can Trust Me is a solid read that really brings the suspense. Great twists!

This book gave me the same feeling that reading The Lord of the Flies in middle school did. It reminded me that some people could be so terrible and so vindictive, and it's unpleasant to be reminded of that.

Amelia's life looks perfect from the outside but it is far from. Unfortunately, Amelia, whom we are told was once a pharmacist, is portrayed as a bit too naive and trusting, almost simple minded. This sets her up to be the perfect victim for the conniving Paige, a co-worker at a yoga studio. At first we don't understand why Paige is so intent on picking on Amelia, but it feels like a case of envy meeting a too easy target. Fairly early on, Paige drugs Amelia and manipulates her into giving up her banking information, which quickly leaves her account drained.

What makes it worse is that Paige quickly ensconces herself as Amelia's best friend and forces her daughter Taryn to befriend Marnie, Amelia's daughter. Amelia is bewildered at everything happening to her but with Paige as her only friend, she gets no clarity.

The reader is lead to believe that the friendship that develops between reluctant opposites, Taryn and Marnie is the only sweet, honest thing in the book. We are wrong.

From career ending rumors, to repo men at the door, to a distant husband that lied, a manipulative thief, bent on ruining her life, Amelia is lucky to still be standing at the end of this book. Even her daughter is catfished and blackmailed in a manner that ends up being even more devastating because of the source.

It was a weird mix of people who were soooo awful and people who were way too naive and they collided because once upon a time, a crowded ER prioritized one sick child over another.

It was well written but sort of icky. Not the kind of people I want in my life.

Title: You Can Trust me
Author: Miranda Rijks
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Publisher: Inkubator Books
Pub Date: July 20, 2025
My Rating: 3.8 Stars

Amelia is yoga Instructor at ‘Vitality with Vanessa’. There are other instructors and although they don’t socialize a lot they are looking forward to one their colleague’s wedding. They do get together before the wedding for coffee and talk about what they are going to wear. They all share what they will be wearing. Amelia is excited about a dress she ordered on-line from London.
However, later when the dress arrives it is nothing like what she ordered and actually came from China and not London. . She tells her colleagues what happened and states she knows she was a victim of an online scam, Paige a colleague helps her out as she has fantastic computer skills; she checks the site and immediately knowns it is not legitimate and offers to help Amelia. Paige does send a letter which results in Amelia getting her money back. So Paige is her hero

However, Paige is good at being a con artist. When she sees what a good life Amelia has and her life is the opposite she has her own plan. She knows how to scam Amelia’s money, She then destroying her business, and tries to do the same to Amelia’s marriage; all while pretending to be a good friend.

This part of the story was not a comfortable read. Hated what was happening to Amelia.
I have read many Rijks’ stories so was sure Ms. Rijks has a way to outsmart Paige!!!

Yikes! The ‘Big Reveal’ had me ready to throw the book across the room.
Sure fooled me!!!
This story, of course is good, but certainly more evil than I expected.

Miranda Rijks has written twenty-three psychological thrillers, and this is only my Eleventh!
However, I knew when I read the first one that I had found a new fav author!

I always enjoy reading the Author’s notes and/or Acknowledgements. In her’ Letter than Miranda’ she tells us this story was inspired by her own personal scam with a clothing order. The item was nothing like the picture- in fact, she states was hideous. She contacted the shop requesting a refund. They said it was too late and could not issue a refund.
Thankfully her credit card company came to her rescue and gave her a refund.

Then her imagination took off and Paige popped into her head.
She also tells us that like Amelia’s daughter Marnie she too had Meningitis when she was young

Want to thank NetGalley and Inkubator Books for this e-Galley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for July 20, 2025.

“You Can Trust Me” was my first book by Miranda Rijks, though I quickly realized she’s written quite a few others. And after finishing this one, I can confidently say I’m curious and excited to read more of her work.
At first, I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it. The beginning felt slow-paced and a little hard to follow, and I struggled to get a clear picture of what was happening. But I’m so glad I stuck with it, because once the tension picked up, I was completely hooked!

This book is focused on Amelia–a yoga teacher–who is a victim of online scam and by chance, her colleague Paige came to her rescue. Then, Amelia’s daughter and Paige’s one became friends and it remained that the mothers became really close to each other. Everything seemed to be normal and peaceful, but it slowly became a disaster and way darker…

I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. The pacing might be slow in the beginning, but the second half is packed with twists and psychological tension that kept me flipping the pages. The novel really explores how dangerous it can be to trust someone blindly–and how those closest to us can also be the most threatening.

One thing that surprised me in a good way was the multiple POVs. Normally, I find it hard to stay engaged with multiple perspectives or even timelines, but in this case, I thought it worked really well. We get to see the story unfold through both the mothers’ and the daughters’ eyes, which adds a rich layer to the narrative. It helps us understand how manipulation and control can affect people of all ages, and how each character’s choices ripple through the others’ lives. One of the character (I think you know who if you’ve read it) was really unhinged and I really liked that for some reasons. Every chapter revealed something new, and the tension just kept building.

Overall, even though I wasn’t sure this book would be for me, I ended up really enjoying it. It’s a cleverly crafted psychological thriller with compelling characters and a strong theme about trust, control, and hidden motives.

Another fabulous thriller from Miranda Rijks!

Yoga teacher Amelia falls for an online scam, with her friend Paige coming through for her. Their daughters become fast friends and the two families grow closer together.

But all is not as it seems. Paige has an agenda......

I felt terrible for Amelia, and quite liked her as a character so it was sad to see her downfall. I think that made it even more of a good read as I was on her side throughout the book - I felt all the bad things happening to her quite personally.

Loved the different POV's including the teenage daughters and I thought the added drama of what was happening in their lives really added to the overall unease of the book. Lot's of drama, some suspense and a couple of twists - was Amelia a random target, or was there more to it?

Well written, great characters, thrilling storyline.

While some of my students might like this book, the soap opera quality was too over the top for me to suggest it for them. I prefer, more real people and situations and there is plenty of drama in that without all the melodrama.

Amelia is a yoga instructor, wife to Hudson, mother to Marnie, and as the book begins, so does the unraveling of her life. Paige is also a yoga instructor, partner to a man named Dean, mother to Taryn, and she hates Amelia. She’s also a kleptomaniac with a penchant for harming herself and others. This book has a few great storylines, but the main one is the battle between these two women, and who will end up triumphant.

Their teenage daughters go to school together, so the four starting hanging out at Amelia’s house. When Amelia gets scammed after buying a dress online, Paige is there to help her through it - she’s a real tech whiz! The dress situation is just the beginning of her life falling apart, as everything with her job, her marriage and her relationship with her daughter implodes around her, with Paige there ready to pick up the pieces.

The characters in this are all entertaining, and the book is written from the points of view of Amelia, Paige and Marnie - who has her own issues to deal with while the adults around her melt down. The story of the two women is great, but there are a lot of facets to this book: moments that were heartbreaking, moments that were thrilling and many moments that were deviously delicious. This was a fun one! 4.5 stars, rounded up.

(Thank you to Miranda Rijks for the ARC in exchange for my review.)

This intense, crazy thrill ride unleashed a whirlwind of emotions inside me, fueling my inner wrath and setting my blood on fire! I literally wanted to jump inside my Kindle and introduce my fist to Paige's face. That woman was certifiably insane! I felt so sorry for Amelia and Marnie for all that they endured. It's been a while since a book sparked that much emotion from me, especially a thriller, and Rijks did a banger of a job with this story. She even added a few little twists, which I didn't think possible since the villain was handed to us on a silver platter. I think this is my new favorite by this author. It was captivating and utterly unputdownable! I even read it while I was on the elliptical because I just couldn't stop. I loved it! A definite MUST read for thriller fans!

WOW, what a great read. This storyline had me completely hooked throughout, I couldn’t put it down so had to read it in one session. I don’t think I would have slept if I had not known the ending!! The characters were so realistic, it was a very well written psychological thriller indeed. Always up for reading a book by this author, and once again it was a good one.

Thanks to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

Do you truly trust your friends?

So much deception. So much manipulation. So much damage. All wrapped into one.

The dynamics of a mother and daughter. Adult friendships. Teenagers.

Every little mistake we make.

Is it friendship? Is it fake with an ulterior motive?

A four star read.

If you like Frieda McFadden I think you'll enjoy this author. I'm running to find more of her books to read.

Thank you NetGalley & Inkubator Books for this opportunity.

This author always spins a good tale and this book is a real page turner. The pace is fast and does not let up, with many twists and red herrings to keep you guessing and surprised when the truth comes out. It touches on many interesting aspects of modern life, including sexploitation, drink spiking and online scams. The characters are all pretty awful but unfortunately quite realistic and their behaviour is only too credible. I enjoy the way the author adjusts dialogue to suit the age of the character as this adds to the sense of engagement in the plot.
