I had much higher expectations for this book. One woman screens entitled incompetence, the other screams jealous whiny entitlement. It’s like listening to middle school girls just getting their hormones argue over who has the better hair. Other reviewers noted this book to be 5 star, I wanted to DNF around 22%. I held onto 48% and the book just seemingly got more annoying with time. I have no idea why one character is doing the negative things to the other than the fact that she is rich??? The plot is just all over the place. I’ve decided not to review this publicly on social media channels.

This book captured me, and drew my attention very quickly. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a fast paced book that keeps you on your toes. I finished the book in two days and enjoyed it very much .

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Wow this was a drama filled, twisty book that had me flying through each page. The manipulation and deceit made for a super juicy thriller that had me wondering what betrayal could possibly come next. Definitely an easy and enjoyable read.

Miranda Rjks has done it again!
When Amelia falls victim for an online scam, her friend Paige comes to the rescue. When their daughters, Marnie and Taryn become best friends, the two families grow even closer. Unfortunately for Amelia, Paige has a hidden agenda. What is she after exactly, and why?
Told from the POVs of Amelia, Paige, and Marnie, this is a book you won't want to put down.
The characters are excellent and the pacing is wild. I physically gasped out loud at some moments!!
An absolute 5-star page-turner!

“You Can Trust Me” by Miranda Rijks is a chilling psychological thriller that explores the terrifying consequences of misplaced trust. If you love dark, suspense-driven thrillers where nothing is as it seems, this is a must-read.

They were the best of friends. And the worst of enemies. When yoga teacher Amelia falls victim to an online scam, her colleague Paige really comes through for her. And with their daughters Marnie and Taryn becoming best friends, the two families grow even closer. But all is not as it seems. Paige has an agenda! Fantastic read! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting! What a chilling thriller! The mind games in this book were absolutely shocking and brilliant! It had great suspense, mystery, murder, gaslighting, and some wild characters! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator books for sharing this book with me! Can’t wait for more!

You Can Trust Me is a binge-worthy domestic thriller that balances suspense, shifting perspectives, and a killer twist. If you enjoy novels where trust unravels layer by layer—with a twist you won’t see coming—it’s a strong pick. Just be ready for characters who occasionally stumble into cliché and a finale that races to the finish.

4.25 ⭐️
A deliciously deceptive, tense and multi-layered domestic psychological thriller. You Can Trust Me was an emotionally charged fast paced story that I just added Miranda Rijks to my favorite author list. This was the second psychological thriller I’ve read by Rijks and I loved it as much as The Visitors. Having read a couple of her books, I can say that I love how her books are tightly plotted, fast paced, and psychologically driven.
You Can Trust Me centered on Amelia, a yoga teacher, who fell victim to an online scam and her colleague Paige came to her rescue. Along with their daughters, Marnie and Taryn, they became best friends and the two families grew very close. But all was not what it seemed and the relationships quickly became a battle of deception.
Rijks domestic relatable characters and setting makes the narrative accessible and conversational. Her prose is clean and very direct allowing tension and psychological elements to be at the forefront. There were also perfectly placed twists and red herrings that were logical and tied back to the characters actions and motives.
At the heart of the novel lied the question: Who can you really trust? Rijks used this core question to incorporate a variety of themes. Trust and betrayal as well as psychological manipulation were at the forefront. More specifically, Rijks honed in on the dangers of emotionally invasive relationships, the illusion of the perfect life, and the vulnerability of trusting the wrong people through every character.
Rijks told this story from multiple perspectives. This point of view style provided direct access to the characters’ internal thoughts while creating natural chapter cliffhangers and heightened the emotional intensity while it fueled the reader’s curiosity. Altogether, the multiple point of views built the suspense, deepened the psychological tension, and maintained a fast pace from start to finish.
In both of the books I’ve read by Rijks to date, The Visitors and You Can Trust Me, Rijks wrote smart, fast-paced psychological thrillers with strong domestic backdrops, relatable characters, and a focus on emotional manipulation and trust. I highly recommend reading You Can Trust Me if you are looking for a psychological thriller about friendship gone wrong, toxic relationships, and secrets lurking beneath the surface.
