S.E. Lynes delivers a chilling and emotionally charged thriller with Every Mother’s Nightmare, a story that grips from the very first page and refuses to let go. Centered around the unshakable bond between siblings, the novel explores the depths of familial loyalty against a backdrop of darkness, deceit, and psychological tension.
The narrative expertly balances suspense with emotional resonance, making it especially impactful for parents. The maternal perspective woven throughout adds a raw and personal layer to the tension, amplifying the fear and urgency in each chapter. From the outset, there’s an unsettling undercurrent that builds steadily, as disturbing behavior and eerie circumstances unfold in increasingly unpredictable ways.
With a twist that elevates the entire storyline, Every Mother’s Nightmare is more than just a standard domestic thriller—it’s a haunting portrayal of love, fear, and the terrifying lengths one might go to protect the ones they cherish. Lynes once again proves her mastery of suspense with a story that is as compelling as it is unnerving.

Something’s happened to Casey at summer camp, but she doesn’t recall a thing about the events of the previous night. Cue the chaos: mistakes are made, secrets are buried, and oh yeah, a murder is thrown into the mix.
Melissa is living every parent’s worst nightmare when she gets a call that her daughter is in the hospital. She was found unconscious in someone else's tent. Meanwhile, her 21-year-old son Dan is convinced that what happened to his sister is his fault. So, he decides to play detective and get to the bottom of it.
This was a decent read. The lead-up to the big reveal kept me interested, and I enjoyed the multiple POVs and dual timelines. I followed each perspective intently.
And as always, props to the narrator for doing a fantastic job!

You’ll do anything to keep your children safe. But knowing what you know… do you need to protect your son, your daughter, or yourself?
This was an easy read; I of course loved the British accent on the audio and the cheeky British slang. 🤭 I was waiting for jaw-dropping plot twists, as I always do, but they didn’t quite deliver the shock value that I was hoping for in this one. The surprises are a bit more subtle vs. dramatic like other thrillers may provide, so I was left a little underwhelmed; tho I was pleased with the last chapter. All of this said, it was still an enjoyable and thought-provoking read!

S.E. Lynes delivers a gripping and emotionally charged thriller that taps into every parent’s worst fear- the call that changes everything. The story had me hooked from the start, with just the right balance of suspense and emotional depth. I especially enjoyed the family dynamic between Melissa, Casey, and Dan- it felt authentic and added real weight to the narrative. While I had some idea of where the plot might go, the twist at the end still managed to surprise me.
The audiobook narration was also well done. The narrator kept me engaged and really brought the characters to life, enhancing the overall experience. A compelling, well-paced listen that’s perfect for fans of domestic thrillers.

Every Mother’s Nightmare was another tense and gripping read from one of my absolute favourite thriller authors. Right from the very first chapter I could feel the tension building and it didn’t let up throughout the book. We know from the start that something has happened to single mum Melissa Connor’s daughter and she must rush to the hospital to be there for her. What exactly happened isn’t clear but as we progress through the story more is revealed in that wonderful way Lynes slowly feeds us the information. A book with strong characters but not all likeable as you will discover . A superb start and ending with a fantastic finish I highly recommend this one for all psychological thriller fans. I had the pleasure of listening to this on audio narrated by the wonderful Tamsin Kennard. One of ,my favourite narrators win brings every book she narrates to life .

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review Every Mother’s Nightmare by providing me with an ARC Audiobook copy!
The Audiobook is narrated by Tamsin Kennard. I must say I do always enjoy hearing this Narrator for Audiobooks. I love that her accent doesn’t make it hard to understand but also adds to the experience! Great Narration choice!
Before I get into the review I must say is My first S.E. Lynes book!
I unfortunately rate this a 2.5 stars.
I do feel like something parts of the book was on the slower side. I didn’t feel like I enjoyed this book as much as I had hoped. I finished it but I had a hard time doing so.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook.
Melissa, a single mother to Dan and Casey gets a call that every mother dreads. Her daughter has been assaulted. Once there it turns out not only has her daughter has been assaulted but someone has been murdered.
This story makes you question everyone, not knowing who did what.
Especially with the Andrew Tate effect on young men this was a really good read. This is sadly the world a lot of young men are growing up in!

I was really enjoying the storyline in this one. Getting the story from three different POVs was fun and kept me wanting to listen so I could see how everything played out from each character’s angle. It was interesting, easy to follow, and overall a super quick listen.
That said, I was a bit underwhelmed by the ending. It felt predictable, and while it was still enjoyable, it didn’t give me that “twist” or shock I was hoping for.
The audiobook narrator, though—amazing. Her voice (including her male character voices!) was so easy to listen to, and she nailed the tone and emotion throughout. I’d absolutely recommend this as an easy, bingeable listen.
Now… here’s my one gripe. On the cover it says this a “completely unputdownable psychological thriller with heart-stopping suspense.” I don’t know about you, but I never once felt shocked or on-edge. I’m starting to think maybe I’m the problem—maybe my brain is just too dark to be surprised anymore 😅 Anyone else feel like this wasn’t exactly the rollercoaster ride it was marketed as?
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This one started off strong for me. Hreat tension, layered characters, and a disturbing plot. I appreciated the realistic family dynamics and the way the story unfolded through multiple POVs. But while the buildup was strong, the pacing dragged in parts, especially halfway through the book. I kept waiting for some kind of ball to drop but it never did. The characters didn't really have much development and the ending didnt have the impact I wanted it to. All in all though, it was still entertaining, just could've been condensed.

From the frantic opening—the terrifying phone call alerting Melissa that her daughter Casey has been found confused in the hospital—the audiobook grabs you and never lets go. The narrative jumps between perspectives and timelines: Melissa, her son Dan, and daughter Casey each reveal pieces of what happened during that fateful weekend. This viewpoint-switching builds suspense and emotional depth, though it occasionally feels slightly chaotic. The plot is twisty, with a final reveal that caught me off guard—and had me rewinding to check clues I’d missed. Definitely recommend for a weekend binge listen!

What a great book!
A constant surprise at every turn.
I love this author and always enjoy their books!
The narration was excellent!

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Okay, this thriller really grabbed me. If you’re into tense, twisty mysteries with all the emotional layers and zero chill, Every Mother’s Nightmare is your vibe.
S.E. Lynes knows how to build suspense and keep you guessing just when you think you’ve got it figured out, nope, curveball! The story is dark but so gripping you can’t put it down.
Also, can we talk about the narrator, Tamsin!! She’s impeccable. Her voice totally pulled me into the story every tense moment, every emotional beat hit harder because of her delivery. Seriously, she’s a whole mood.
Only tiny thing? Some plot points wrapped up a little too fast for me, but not enough to mess with the overall experience.
If you want a thriller that’s equal parts creepy and emotional, plus narration that slaps, this is the one.

I loved the premise of this book and found the story intriguing, well written, and I listened in one day. i loved the multiple POVs and the main characters were likeable, though I did cringe at some of Melissa's decisions. At times the book dragged a little and I felt my mind wandering. Although I did enjoy the book it didn't deliver the WOW factor to make it stand out from similar titles. There were some twists towards the end but they weren't the jaw droppers that Ms Lynes usually delivers.
I really enjoyed Tamsin Kennards narration.

I enjoyed the narrator! This was a very twisty story! Definitely many twists and turns and they all fit very well! The writer knows how to weave a story together very well. She made everything fit together quite well!

Title: Every Mother’s Nightmare
Author: S.E. Lynes
I was really excited to start this audiobook—it sounded intriguing and full of suspense. But once I began listening, the story felt slow and never quite hooked me. I kept waiting for it to pick up, but it never fully delivered. The twists were just okay—not enough to keep me eager to keep listening. I’m glad I was able to listen to this but I won’t be listening to it again.

This audiobook was more of a suspense than a thriller. It was essentially a “who dun it” and why? While the story was entertaining, I was expecting more twists and turns and thrills.
The narrator was great I listened at 2x.
It was multiple POV with a dual timeline and easy to follow.
I really enjoyed the ending and how it shows the lengths a parent will go for their children and how far others will go to get revenge.
All in all, it was a quick listen that kept me engaged throughout.

This was a really enjoyable read that had me making theories throughout, but wasn't quite the heart-pounding psychological thriller that I'd been expecting.
When Melissa receives a call at work to say that her daughter has been attacked at summer camp and is in hospital - the panic sets in and she races to be by her side.
The story is then told over a few different pov's and timelines which slowly uncover the events on the run up to and just after the attack.
I really liked all of the characters who were well presented and developed through the story.
Even those less likable characters played an important part in the story and did it well.
The characters felt authentic and relatable and I liked that all of the characters thoughts and feelings were explored from start to finish.
Having the multi pov helped us to really get to grips with how each member of the family navigated these issues - which lets face it, are sadly things that we all have to consider in this day and age.
It really does make you think about your own encounters and those of your own family members - we definitely had a few family discussions around this whilst reading.
I guessed quite a few of the outcomes and reveals which meant that this didn't quite have as big an impact on me as I read - however, I definitely didn't see the final twist coming!
Still a great read which is relevant to current everyday issues and I was totally invested in how the story would develop and play out.
Looking forward to reading more by this author soon.
💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

I enjoyed this tense, gripping thriller set at a teenage summer camp in Dorset. There is a very taut, fast paced and twisty plot, and the narration is excellent.
With thanks to NetGalley, S.E. Lynes and Bookouture for my advance audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Every Mother’s Nightmare felt a little short of the description. I have enjoyed this author in many books before, but this one did not meet my expectations.

I am a big fan of this authors work and, in this novel, they have done an amazing job capturing the fears and doubts that come with motherhood. It’s tense, emotional, and had me questioning what I’d do in the same situation. A little bit slow in the middle, but the ending more than made up for it. Definitely one to check out if you like your thrillers with heart.
