A fantastic fast-paced romantic thriller! Loved the riveting shifter storyline and its compelling mix of action, suspense, and romance. A page turner with plenty of twists and turns and perfect pacing, written in a style that is straightforward and easy to read. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of this genre and talented writing.

Grumpy dragon shifter and fated mates? Yes please!! This was my first book by Katie Reus but it won’t be my last. This was an interconnected standalone book. Tiber is the grumpy cinnamon roll I needed.

He’s Bossy, Opinionated and Hers!
I was really excited to read another storyline from this world and it had everything I could want and obsess over.
A brooding, grumpy protective Dragon who gave his fated mate the wrong impression when they first met!
A much loved artist with a past about to drop back into her life.
Full of witty moments with lots of sizzle which was felt throughout this book, you won’t be disappointed with this fast paced entertaining read.
Add is some suspense and a baby Dragonling you’ll fall in love with (one of which I want) and wonderful secondary characters to give you an excellent engaging sexy reading experience!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love dragons! There I said it! This series has been phenomenal so far and this book is no exception. The characters, the setting, and of course all the dragons. Tiber is a beautiful, and strong warrior dragon. Mia is an artist and she is human. When she goes to stay in the dragon realm, despite first impressions, she and Tiber clearly have chemistry. He and his dragon half know she is his mate but he messed up by saying something about humans so he definitely had work to do. I love how strong and protective he is and Mia does too. Ilmari, the dragonling, is adorable and I would like one please lol.
I love this story and Mia and Tiber so much! I really enjoyed their journey!

Since the beginning, each book in the Ancients Rising series has been the perfect quick afternoon get away read that transports me away from my current reality for a short period of time. The newest installment, 'Ancent Warlord' is a wonderful addition to the series. A fast paced read with characters and realms that are familiar from the previous books. It didn't take me long to acclimate to the story and dive right in with Mia and Tiber. She is a laid back, carefree artist who is loved by everyone she comes in contact with and he is a too serious alpha warrior who has earned the trust of the realms royal family and the soldiers that he trains and leads. I found both characters to be easy to like and it wasn't hard to root for them to get past old hurts, to make peace, and move forward together.
Mia is 'just' a human, visiting the Nova realm from Earth. Having grown up in the bayou she knew about paranormal creatures long before the war the dragon shifters rain down on humanity. Her childhood wasn't the best. She had an alcoholic father who did nothing to support his family. At a young age, Mia was forced to be responsible and earn an income to help support herself and her siblings. Her close friendship with the Nova royal family allowed her the opportunity to spread her wings, expand her artistic talent, and spend an undetermined extended amount of time amongst the dragons in their home realm. Unfortunately, not all of the citizens in Nova have a positive outlook on the humans.
Tiber is deeply sorry for the things Mia overheard him say about the human race, especially since she is his fated mate. She refuses to interact with him let alone accept any form of apology. He is forced to watch her from afar, that is until she finds herself in need of protection. Of course the stubborn Mia does not readily accept Tiber's help but eventually fear for her own safety forces her to give in and allow herself to get close to the grumpy warlord warrior.
The story introduces a couple of new characters and allows us to get to know some less familiar ones. I am very optimistic and excited that there will be a continuation of this series. I am a great fan of Katie Reus's work and enjoy her other series. A new release from Reus is always a great day of reading for me.
I also want to add that this cover is beautiful. Very eye catching.

I've read a few of the past books in this and the other interconnected series, but it's been awhile. This book definitely stands on its own so you can jump in here. Mia is an acclaimed artist escaping a scary situation with her ex by accepting a long-term contract in the dragon realm. Tiber is an ancient dragon shifting assassin who puts his foot squarely into his mouth by insulting humans in general within Mia's hearing, then meeting her and immediately recognizing her as his fated mate. This puts him in catch up mode as he desperately wants to repair the damage his thoughtless words did, but instead finds himself utterly tongue-tied in Mia's presence.
I enjoyed watching Tiber stumble around trying to court Mia, while Mia remained utterly clueless as to his attraction and his intent. They were a cute couple. Although there was a huge power imbalance between them, it didn't feel like there was because Tiber was very careful to respect Mia's wishes and her boundaries. He never tried to overrule her and always respected her. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I love this world and all the dragons. Especially the baby dragons who aren't shifters. They practically steal the show. Tiber was especially grumpy and he was pretty entertaining as he tried to make things right with Mia. And Mia was pretty clueless to why Tiber was so desperate to make things right. They were a cute couple and I enjoyed their journey.

OK, so normally interconnected collections aren't really my thing, but the synopsis sounded so good, I just had to give it a try. I was definitely NOT disappointed. This book is easy to read separately, with zero knowledge of anything prior. Mia is sweet but sassy and the anxiety rep spoke so deeply to me, it was easy to connect with her personally. Tiber is grumpy, but so fiercely protective of those he cares about. He is such a genuine and thoughtful guy. Ilmari. Oh gosh, what can I say? I need a baby dragon, that's for sure. The letters Mia writes are a nice addition and really highlight the growth in the relationship between the two of them. This is a quick and easy read that will warm your heart with a sprinkle of spice on top. Definitely recommend.
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this e-arc!

I really liked Tiber and Mia. He’s only a giant mush for her and though she seems like a pushover in the beginning she is far from it. I enjoyed that Tiber’s actions, rather than his poorly choiced words, showed who he really was to Mia. Fun story and world.

I was so excited to read Ancient Warrior, the tenth book in what has become one of my favorite paranormal romance series. The Ancients Rising series has some of the swooniest MMCs and romances, and I love the unique and ever-expanding world the author created. This story takes place in the Nova realm, a dragon realm filled with romance, danger, enticing and sometimes terrifying supernatural beings, and richly developed and compelling characters.
Mia is one of my favorite heroines in the series so far. A celebrated and exceptionally talented artist, her work is in high demand, and she's grounded, creative, and resilient. Mia's toxic ex, an elite vampire, enters the realm and disrupts the peaceful, happy life she carved out in the Nova realm. She's a strong woman trying to move on from the trauma of her past, and I loved how fiercely she held on to her independence.
I also liked that Tiber never tried to control or overshadow Mia. The pair definitely started off on the wrong foot with Mia overhearing Tiber insulting humans. Oof, his first impression was awful, but he more than made up for it. From giving her space when she needed it to teaching her how to fight and recognize poisons, Tiber respected Mia’s strength while doing everything in his power to protect her. His actions always came from a place of care, and I love how hard he worked to change her impression of him and to earn her trust. OMG, watching this centuries-old warrior unravel over a woman who wants nothing to do with him was fantastic - funny, endearing, and unexpectedly sweet. He's a ruthless and feared assassin, but when he's with Mia, he's a tongue-tied mess who says all the wrong things. Their dynamic had sparks from the beginning, and their chemistry was amazing!
There’s also a suspenseful storyline threaded through the story, with someone targeting Mia and Tiber going full protective alpha mode in response. Loved it! It was intriguing and intense, which made for a quick and entertaining read. I also adored the found family feel vibes! Tiber’s warrior friends were fabulous - fierce, loyal, and just as compelling as the main couple, and I'm hoping a few of them will be the focus of future novels. And a special shout-out to Ilmari, the cutest, bravest, and cuddliest dragonling! What a scene-stealer!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Katie Reus for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Dragons, vampires, adventure, and an adorable baby dragon! I want one! Plenty of snark, banter, and slow burn sizzle, and some tense moments that really keep things moving. Ancients Rising is a great series, all can be standalone, but even more fun when you read them all!

A new book in the kingdom of Nova !!
When I learned there was going to be a new book featuring Katie Reus's dragons, I was SUPER excited !!! It's one of the first series I read by this author, so there's a bit of a nostalgic feel to it for me =)
We'd seen Mia in the previous books and heard about her story with Tiber, and I admit I was super curious to see how their romance would develop ... And I loved it !
The romance was both cute and sexy, the plot with the toxic ex was great, and I loved Tiber's clumsy badass side, which complemented Mia's artistic and cute side perfectly !
In short, a light and sexy paranormal romance that's devoured way too quickly ! For those looking for a summer romance with magic and dragons, I recommend it !
PS : I REALLY need a book with Prima !
PS2 : Of course I'm going to reread the entire series as well as the original series !

I loved everything about this story. It is full of action and suspense. I loved the two main characters Mia and Tiber as both are strong and the connection between them was 🔥🔥. I love paranormal stories and this one did not disappoint. There were secondary characters that I hope they get their own story. I especially loved Ilmari, the dragonling, he was hilarious. I was curious as to when his human form would appear since he was a dragon in the story. It’s a great story that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and are voluntarily leaving a review.

Mia is a human artist living a world of dragons in a fight the bossy dragon shifter Tiber. Tiber is just uncomfortable with women and says the wrong thing to his mate all the time...
Love how Tiber says the EXACT wrong thing to Mia. Just too funny. Do love it when they finally got together.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Mia is a wonderful artist and is living in the Nova realm with dragons. She’s known about paranormal, she dated a vampire, but didn’t know about dragons until recently. The vampire she dated is the reason she left Earth. When she first arrived, she overheard two dragons talking about humans and how weak they were. One of them was Tiber, a former warlord turned assassin, who is a general and a dragon shifter. Tiber can’t figure out how to get Mia to forgive him for his thoughtless words. She’s his mate and only wants her to be happy. When Mia’s ex shows up, Tiber will do anything to keep her safe.
Steamy but not until almost the end. Shifters. A cute dragonling. A bossy, overprotective dragon. A human woman who will not be a weakling. Loved them both.
