I haven’t read any of Rektok’s books before but I’m so glad I’ve finally come across one because I’m definitely going to pick up her other ones.

This follows James, FMC, a new associate at a prestigious law firm in Boston. She’s extremely ambitious and independent, having to raise and support her little sister when their dad was sent to jail. Her firm is asked to represent handsome billionaire, Damien, accused of murdering his fiancé. He’s extremely successful, confident, dark and morally grey of course. While investigating the case, she’s brought to Salem’s Fall where she had found some connections to Damien and his family. The more she uncovers throughout, the more dangerous it becomes with questions of who she can trust. But I won’t say any more because I’m keeping this spoiler free! If you like how that all sounds with some magic/supernatural and Halloween vibes woven in then this is for you! I absolutely recommend a read.

I’m confused. This was a quick read that was hard to put down. A thriller mixed with secret society, rituals and a cult. But also a love story and a love triangle? There was a lot going on and I’m still not totally sure who the bad guy was but hey, I found it entertaining!

This is my second read by Rektok Ross, and they are always entertaining! I enjoyed the mystery aspect to it, and felt connected to the characters. I felt a little spooked at times, especially when I was reading during the night. I especially enjoyed Lucky. However, upon finishing the story I found myself wanting for more closure. I had a lot of questions left unanswered. I’m unsure if that is because there may be a sequel? I just felt it could have been a little longer or had some stuff cut out to answer the important questions that were a main part of the plot.

This is the perfect read as we head into spooky season! This book is full of tension and suspense and secrets. I also really loved the paranormal/gothic elements, the overall mystery and of course all the Halloween vibes.

Damien is brooding and cocky - even as he is accused of murder. He is this morally gray billionaire immediately noticed James. James is one of the lawyers assigned to his case and they have this amazing chemistry. She is smart and strong and yes, sometimes makes mistakes. She is trying to prove she is a good attorney and before she knows it, she is the middle of something she never expected!

Lucky the cat is a national treasure as far as I am concerned!

I flew through this book in just two days, and it’s officially one of my new fall faves! It’s the perfect blend of mystery, thriller, spooky season chills, and just the right touch of romance to keep you hooked. The atmosphere? Chef’s kiss.

Our girl James Woodsen is a sharp, ambitious associate trying to redeem herself by taking on a high-profile murder case involving a billionaire and his late fiancée. She’s smart, driven, and refuses to back down. I LOVED her energy and how she dove headfirst into the darkness to find the truth.

The creepy occult vibes gave me chills, the suspense had me on edge, and the plot twists? Wild. I was flipping pages late into the night.

🖤 The suspense? Perfectly paced.
🖤 The secret society + occult vibes? Gave me chills.
🖤 The writing? Smooth and immersive.
🖤 The men? Deliciously morally grey.
🖤 The atmosphere? Moody, mysterious, and SO fall.

If you love:

This book was the perfect spooky thriller! It had so many elements I love…suspense, mystery, secrets, tension, and some chemistry between the FMC and MMC. Even tho it started it on the slower side, it quickly picked up and I couldn’t put it down! The pacing was good, the plot and story was well thought out, and I loved the supernatural element to it. This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed her writing. Will def be reading more of her books! 4⭐️

Salem's Fall was twisty, eerie, with the perfect atmosphere for the secret society James is set on uncovering information about to help her client.

Rektok Ross does an amazing job of building tension and suspense, as well as fostering a strong connection between James and Damien. I loved the trial angle and how it wove the story into James' past. The secret society was so interesting, and I LOVED how it was tied into Ross's previous book, Spring Harvest, which I also really enjoyed. I'm not always of fan of a dark romance, but James and Damien had some CHEMISTRY! and while he did some shady things, well, who doesn't love a morally gray character?
We get twists, the supernatural, a strong and very stubborn MC, and a secret society. All things that hooked me early and had me on the edge of my seat until the last page. The romance was a bonus, and last but not least, LUCKY! Who doesn't love a kitty sidekick that gets to go on the adventure along with their human!
I've immensely enjoyed all the books I've read by Rektok Ross, and I can't wait to see what she's going to come out with next!

Thank you NetGalley and ic13 books for the opportunity to read this thriller.
This is my first Rektok Ross book and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the writing style, it was fast paced and gave so many different hints and clues for different directions the book could go, and for once I was left waiting until the end to see who was the real bad guy.
I like how the murder case tied into the family history of the FMC which genuinely gave her more true motivation to get to the bottom of everything.
The book also had a touch of supernatural elements which I really enjoyed and it added to the whole Halloween atmosphere.

I couldn't put this down!! It's twisty, turny, spooky and has all the mystery and suspense! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, anxious about what would happen next. And I never saw any of the twists coming! This is one of those stories that you think you know what's happening but you have no idea! Rektok Ross does a fantastic job of making you feel confident in you mystery solving skills, and then completely pulls the rug right out from under you! There's even some romance thrown in, so basically this story is perfection!!

This book had me second guessing myself. Just enough twists and turns to keep me attached. Strong and smart female lead. Plot twists I didn’t see coming. And a cat that knew more than he should.
Absolutely loved this little thriller.

Salem's Fall is the perfect thriller read with a bit of paranormal and horror mixed in. It was creepy, atmospheric, chilling, and had me drawn into its wicked tale from the very beginning. This book oozes Halloween with its ritualistic secret society, talk about witches, and the MC's pet black cat. The FMC James is a lawyer looking to find information to prove her client's innocence in a murder case. She's very strong-willed and stubborn, often to a fault. There were times I just wanted to knock some sense into her. Then there's her client Damien, who likes to keep secrets, is very morally grey, is part of said ritualistic secret society, but also protects James fiercely. These two together have some serious romantic tension and chemistry. Despite this, you're not sure if he's the good guy or the bad guy. This was such a great mystery read that kept me up late into the night. I would highly recommend it for spooky season!

Brilliant young attorney James Woodsen never expected her latest case to involve Damian Blackhollow, a dangerously captivating billionaire accused of murder, or to find herself drawn to him against her better judgment. But in the eerie town of Salem’s Fall, every secret blurs the line between passion and peril, and trusting the wrong man could cost her everything.

I’ve read and enjoyed Rektok Ross’s work before, so I was eager to dive into Salem’s Fall, especially since it’s set in Salem, MA, around Halloween, one of my favorite places and times of year. Plus the amazing cover totally drew me in!

Ross has a real talent for building suspense and crafting an atmospheric setting. The moody streets of Salem, the crisp fall air, and the undercurrent of danger all come alive on the page, and the addition of a cult/secret society element gave the story an extra layer of intrigue that I loved. The legal drama added another compelling thread, offering high-stakes tension alongside the dark romance between James and Damian.

While I’m not usually a dark romance reader, I can absolutely see fans of the genre being swept away by the magnetic push-pull between these two characters. Readers who enjoy brooding, morally gray men and heroines caught between passion and danger will find plenty to devour here.

If you’re in the mood for an eerie, Halloween-set story filled with secrets, the occult, and a mystery that will keep you guessing, Salem’s Fall is the perfect seasonal read.

Thank you to Thriller Book Lovers The Pulse, NetGalley, and the author for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Salem’s Fall is a thrill ride full of secrets, danger, and irresistible tension. Rektok Ross delivers a perfect mix of legal drama, small-town gothic, and simmering romance as James Woodsen digs into a murder case that’s far more sinister than it first appears. The eerie New England setting, layered mystery, and hints of the supernatural were spot on. Shadow Daddy billionaires, the occult, AND legal procedurals? Yes please.

Salem's Fall by Rektok Ross

"𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌"

In this story we meet James Woodsen, a young attorney lawyer trying to make a career and name for herself when the biggest case of her life lands in her lap. A morally grey billionaire is accused of murder and it's up to James and her law firm to find out what happened and try not to fall in love with the devil in this dangerously addictive blend of twisty psychological thriller, legal suspense and gothic dark romance..

If I could give this book six stars then I would have! The way the author blended so many genre's inside of one book was spellbinding. At points my heart was racing and my eyes couldn't move fast enough across the page. Obviously I fell in love with the mmc as soon as we met him - think Damon Salvatore vibes! It is the perfect autumn/halloween book which gives you all the thriller vibes you could ask for. I'd also like to add that I am not in any way a thriller reader but I think I just got turned round on the genre that is so popular.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me this ARC copy. The book is now out and available to purchase.

This story was an intense & suspenseful ride and I absolutely loved it! James’s law firm is asked to represent hot shot, gorgeous billionaire mogul Damien Blackhollow after being accused of murdering his fiancé. When she (yes James is a she) begins digging into the case, she realizes that this case is hitting way to close to home as she is still dealing with her own traumas from her past!

I absolutely loved James character! She was resilient and “held her own” despite working in a male predominant industry as a lawyer. She dealt with the “this is a man’s world” debauchery almost daily, yet her strength never wavered. This story brought the perfect amount of suspense, thrills, and a supernatural element that just added the icing on the cake. Rektok Ross’s descriptive scenes during some of those intense moments were perfectly detailed to make you feel as though you were watching the scenes play out. I also loved Jamie and Maddie’s relationship. This sister duo did not play about each other and I love how they have managed to stick together all these years, despite a troubling childhood. Although the story had countless heart palpitating moments, James managed to still have moments of self discovery despite literally fighting for her life.. Despite this, my favorite character was Lucky, yes the cat 🐈‍⬛ 🤷🏽‍♀️. I absolutely loved Lucky and this is what you call an emotional support pet.

If you enjoy well written thrillers with morally gray characters, supernatural elements and love Halloween, I would certainly recommend this story. Although I will not be attending Veil night lol, this story has made me want to abandon my current TBR and read the other standalones in the dark seasons thriller series.

I loved all of the plot twist.
I thought a few times that I had it all figured out, and I didn’t. I enjoyed the pace of the books, and also the character development. I often like reading thrillers, but I switch between that and fantasy. But this book has a little bit of everything. It’s really good
