Thank you to Rektok Ross, NetGalley, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for an early arc of this book!

I gave Salem’s Fall 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. It is defined a fun fall read and got me excited for Halloween and fall going closer.

This book was about James Woodsen, a jr attorney at a lawfirm, who is trying to prove herself after a mishap. She stays late one night and the case of the century falls into her lap! She will be helping defend Damien Blackhollow, a gorgeous billionaire who was accused of murdering his finance.

James feels the draw to Damien right away, but realizes she has a lot of work to do to prove his innocence, which she isn’t even sure of. After a tragic accident with one of the 3rd year employees, James decides to go a few towns over to Salem’s Fall to try to find out more information about Damien and the murder.

Going to Salem’s Fall brings many scary incidents and loads of confusing information to James, and she’s unsure if she’s going to make it home alive!

I absolutely loved Damien! She was charming and perfect but also dark. I liked his confidence and the way he treated James. I liked James but she drove me crazy at times. She was sometimes too headstrong and I wish she would have Jude listened to the people around her! I loved the way Damien and James acted together.

I read Spring Harvest last year and absolutely loved it, so I was very happy to see the mention of it in this bum. The beginning was a little slow for me but once it picked up I was excited to see what was going to happen! I loved the dark, fall vibes as well.

I wish we found out more about Damien. Like what he really was (if anything) and whether he was responsible for some of the murders. I felt like all my questions weren’t answered in the end, or were quickly explained. I wish it would have gone into more detail about who set the brothers up, and who killed James’s coworker.

Overall I really enjoyed this and I love Rektok’s writing!

Fall vibes? Check.
Secret society? Check.
Paranormal activity, black cat, witches, and a morally grey billionaire? Check, check, check, and check.

This book has all the ingredients for a cozy, quick fall read. It leans more fluffy than frightening, but it’s packed with twists and turns—some predictable, others less so. I do wish it had a little more spice to heat things up 🔥🤣

I can’t help but feel like there was a missed opportunity with Quinn. How amazing would it have been if he’d turned out to be part of the Veil and the one behind the murders?

This is a must read to start off your fall reading.

This book is a perfect way to usher in the spooky season.
A gutsy lawyer is determined to figure out what The Veil had to do with her law firm’s client as well as her own family history.
Damien is dangerous, dark, and deep.
But Quinn is steadfast and interested in James.
James first name is never really explained.
I loved Salem Falls and all the references to the witch trials and the supernatural stuff.
The ending was good but I would have chosen differently.

Salem’s Fall is a perfect mix of legal suspense, gothic mystery, and slow-burn dark romance. James Woodsen is a brilliant young attorney defending billionaire Damien Blackhollow in a foggy New England town full of secrets and ritualistic murders. The tension between them is electric, and the atmospheric setting is unforgettable. This twisty, moody thriller kept me hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended!

I feel like I went into this book expecting something completely different than I got. I get that it is a thriller and it definitely follows that for the last 35% of the book, but it felt like the beginning was a bit slow. This book on Amazon is listed for fans of silence of the lambs, labrynth, and Haunting Adeline. Whereas it hits the first one for sure, the second one a little bit, it doesn’t even touch anything similar to haunting Adeline. This is by far a Halloween themed thriller that has a very very small romance subplot but I wouldn’t go so far to say as it’s for fans of Haunting Adeline, considering they don’t even kiss until 75% through the book and the only s*x scene is a fade to black. I feel like the lawyer side of things was left behind with this book really fast when other things start happening, which is totally fine, but the book spent a little too much time focusing on her being a lawyer for it to feel actually left behind. It could have been me but maybe I didn’t fully understand the vale. It seems in some areas of the book it’s described as an entity and some the vale itself is the cult. But it also is based on witchcraft? Half of the time I couldn’t tell if the vale was in the moment being referenced as an entity or the group of people. Overall the book itself to me was okay, nothing to write home about but also something I enjoyed enough to keep reading and not DNF. If you love a book for the vibes, you may love this. I just didn’t.

I was really excited for this but unfortunately it fell short for me. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. The plot and story line were good and kept me wanting to read but when I got to the conclusion I thought it was going to be the build up for the grand finale. Turns out it was the finale , I was hoping for a bigger ended.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read an eARC of this story

Salem's Fall is a thriller with a bit of romance, featuring the FMC, James, who is a junior attorney. She is brought into the world of a mysterious string of murders when her law firm takes on the case of a high-profile billionaire, Damien Blackwood.

This is an easy read and a fun one - the mystery unravels quickly and each twist and turn is riveting. I did find that there were a few loose ends at the end of the story that I wished weren't left behind, but other than that, it was a great dark mystery. The occult/secret society aspects, Salem tie-ins, and mysterious Veil make this a great read for Halloween.

This is a new favorite book of mine! It will now be an annual fall reread! I loved the FMC! I loved the morally grey men, the suspense, plot, and the atmosphere was perfection! If you love black cats, fierce women who walk into trouble, and morally grey men you should fear but secretly yearn for you need this book!

James is a woman with a mission. She's a budding attorney who needs to prove herself both to the firm and to herself. She's taking care of her cat and her sister and balancing everything on her shoulders. But, when a very sexy, very dangerous billionaire is accused of murder her own life becomes threatened. Together with her cat she travels to Salem's fall where nothing is as it seems, especially the men.

This was such an atmospheric page turner! I fell in love with the characters, the twists and turns, and of course the cat! This is the perfect fall read! You get thrills and chills, romance, and dark things that go bump in the night!

Prepare for the coziest Halloween mystery!

Salem's Fall by Rektok Ross is a cozy mystery with twists and turns that are sure to delight readers this Halloween season. If you're new to the Dark Seasons series, then this is a great place to start. It has all the dark elements that you can expect, but this story gives a romantic suspense that was a fantastic breath of fresh air.

James, our main character, is NOT the best decision-maker (or maybe she is, only fate knows)! James is an exceptionally headstrong character who goes where she wants and is solution-oriented. Naturally, her willfulness drives the story as she investigates a murder and the small-town politics that surround it. When the romance starts to take center stage, the story is flying along with twists and reveals coming to the forefront of the story.

This was an exhilarating read, and readers are going to love getting to explore Salem's Fall, and I cannot wait to read about a certain mysterious brother!

Salem’s Fall is a fast-paced, atmospheric thriller packed with twists, secrets, and a touch of the supernatural. The suspense had me hooked from the first page, and the eerie small-town setting gave it the perfect spooky vibe. Rektok Ross nails the tension, and the strong, relatable heroine makes it all the more compelling. A must-read for fans of dark mysteries with a paranormal edge.

Salem’s Fall is a gripping, atmospheric blend of mystery, romance, and small-town secrets that completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. Rektok Ross delivers a hauntingly layered story that feels like Practical Magic meets Veronica Mars, wrapped in a foggy New England setting you can practically feel creeping off the page.

The main character, James, is fierce and complicated, a girl with a painful past and a sharp sense of justice. Her voice was strong and believable, and her emotional arc felt incredibly grounded in real grief, healing, and self-discovery.

What really stood out was the tension, both the romantic kind and the eerie, something-isn’t-right-here kind. The slow burn had just the right mix of angst, chemistry, and sweetness. And the mystery? Twisty, surprising, and full of red herrings. Every time I thought I had it figured out, Ross threw in a new clue or detail that kept me second-guessing.

This book explores themes of forgiveness, belief, and what it means to truly face your past. It’s not just a spooky mystery; it’s a story about resilience and reclaiming your power.

If you’re looking for something moody and emotional with a touch of romance and a whole lot of secrets, Salem’s Fall will absolutely deliver.

I just love a good spooky read and when I saw this title and cover, I just knew I had to read it! I’ve always wanted to visit Salem and this book has me wanting to take that trip the coming Fall!

James Woodson is a young beautiful attorney trying to prove that she deserves to be a part of this elite criminal defense firm. She gets her chance to do this when she is assigned a case defending Damien Blackhollow, a dangerous billionaire who is accused of murdering his finance. She gets more than she bargained for when her research leads her to a secret society that is involved in ritualistic murders. The more she finds out, the deeper she becomes involved and the more dangerous it becomes…especially when she realizes she could be falling for Damien!

This is a dark gothic psychological thriller combined with a legal investigation and a touch of romance! It’s not a typical thriller… It definitely has more of a witchy vibe that includes rituals that have a slight supernatural element. It did leave me with some unanswered questions that I’m still thinking about, but it didn’t take away from the storyline! I really loved the eerie feeling in the atmosphere and that it centered around Halloween as part of the theme. It’s the perfect Fall read and its release is just in time for spooky season!!
