James Woodsen isn’t your ordinary woman, although she has secrets like all women do, her secret is of the “we don’t talk about it because it’s just too terrible to think about. It’s Scarlett Ohara’s Gone with the Wind thinking: if you ignore the situation long enough it will go away, well this secret pops back up in the most mundane way- in the middle of a Law Case James is researching to help her firm’s really hot client win his murder conviction. Let’s not forget her responsibility of taking care of her super irresponsible sister and her crazy partying ways, yeah, those things could be the last thing James will be able to take care of if The Salem’s Fall’s Cult has anything to do about it.

Will James win her hunky clients case, will she choose her just as hot bosses proclamation of love, will she solve her own families secret? You will only find out if you read this book!

Rektok Ross has created some characters you will want to know more about, some characters you want to slap in the face, a setting you wouldn’t want to step into, and a storyline that will keep you guessing until the very end.

If you love dark thrillers, symbolism and Halloween mixed with some steamy men and romance this is your next read.

Creepy town ✔️

Brooding billionaire who may or may not be a killer? ✔️✔️

Salem’s Fall had me hooked from chapter one. James Woodsen is a badass young attorney who takes on a case that could save—or destroy—her career: defending Damien Blackhollow, a super-rich, super-enigmatic guy accused of murdering his fiancée. The catch? The crime took place in Salem’s Fall, a town that’s basically drowning in old secrets, witch trial history, and major culty vibes. She’s not alone though—her loyal black cat, Lucky, tags along and somehow steals every scene he’s in. Total MVP. Can’t forget the kitty! A fast-paced, eerie read that blends mystery, suspense, and just enough dark romance. Definitely recommend if you like your thrillers with a touch of witchy weirdness. Thank you to NetGalley and Rektok Ross for allowing you to read this book early. Loved every minute of it! She left me wanting more just like her last book Spring Harvest!

James Woodsen is trying to solve a case, one that might uncover more questions than answers. Damien Blackhollow is willing to let her try, to an extent. When Damien is accused of murder, James is left unveiling the truth of more than one mystery, but it’s not what she expected. This book takes twists and turns and leads the reader on an unexpected journey of Salem’s Fall and its most powerful family.
I really enjoyed this story. It had an unexpected plot and a lot of plot twists that I didn’t see coming. It was enjoyable to get to know the characters and try to guess how it would end. I thought it was really unique and I was hooked from the beginning.

I really loved this book! It had me guessing until the end, and I can't wait for the next book to come out! I have never been dissapointed with Rektok Ross novels. I loved all the characters, and thrillers from the lawyer or the detectives point of view are always some of my favs. This novel gives you so many things at once, it's like a mix of Vampire Diaries meets the Craft. Would def reccommend.

This was so good! I was not prepared for the twists and turns. Nor did I think that this was going to involved witches, black cats, and vampires! This is my first book by Rektok Ross - I'm already lining up her others to read next. This would be a perfect read in the fall, near Halloween! James is the FMC, a lawyer who gets herself put on a murder case that's too similar to her mother's murder years ago. Damien and Quinn are the MMCs - but one good and the other just a little bad. Too many twists and I don't want to spoil this book - but Salem's Fall is not a place I want to visit near Halloween. Highly recommend this book!

This is my first book by this author and it didn’t disappoint, they way I flew through this book and couldn’t put it down! Well written and found the story fast past which I loved, mystery, creepy vibes perfect for Halloween, they was plenty of twists and secrets and lies! I loved James I found her confident and she never gave up on what she wanted, did she listen no? And that’s what I loved about her. Then you have the mysterious and gorgeous Damien Blackhollow is who is possibly dangerous, And being accused of murdering his fiancée will she fall for him?

This was a great book - a mix of horror, suspense and romance. I enjoyed the setting, the mystique and the characters. I would definitely recommend this title. As a former attorney I thoroughly enjoyed the depiction of life at law firm and the interesting protagonist!

"Salem’s Fall" by Rektok Ross is the kind of book that grabs you by the cloak, and drags you headfirst into its eerie, shadow-laced world. Set in a delightfully creepy New England town dripping with cult whispers, witchy lore, and long-buried secrets, this legal thriller/mystery/paranormal mashup is pure fun with just the right amount of edge.

Our main character, James Woodsen, is a whip-smart, take-no-prisoners attorney who’s firm is defending Damien Blackhollow—a broody, morally grey billionaire accused of killing his fiancée. James goes to Salem's Fall to uncover the truth because we all know nothing (and I mean nothing) is what it seems. Between creepy townsfolk, spine-tingling legends, and a growing romantic tension with her client, James is in way over her head—and I loved every second of it.

James is the kind of heroine you root for, even when you're yelling at the book like it's a horror movie. (“Girl, what are you doing?!”) She’s bold, clever, and has the kind of stubborn streak that makes for great drama. And yes, she has a black cat named Lucky, which obviously makes her even more iconic. Speaking of—Lucky totally stole the show for me. MVP status, no question.

Rektok Ross nails the atmosphere here. Whether you're curled up for an upcoming Halloween binge or looking for some Summerween chiils, "Salem’s Fall" delivers with its gothic undertones, cultish intrigue, and a setting that practically breathes secrets. The mix of courtroom drama, enemies-to-lovers romance, and supernatural vibes makes this one stand out from your typical thriller fare.

Highly recommend for fans of moody, twisty, female-led thrillers with a paranormal twist. And Rektok Ross—if you’re listening—I need more Lucky content ASAP.

This is the third book I’ve read by Rektok Ross, and without a doubt, it’s my favourite so far. Her writing style is so easy to follow with engaging storylines pulling me in from the first page.

Salem’s Fall brings in a supernatural twist set around Halloween, which gave me all the cozy fall vibes. The descriptive writing was spot on. I could feel the chill in the air, the eerie surroundings, and the sense of being watched by something unseen. It was just the right amount of creepy—not overdone, but believable enough that I found myself thinking, yeah...this could actually happen.

The character development was strong. I adored James, and yes, the dark and mysterious Damien had me weak in the knees. The chemistry was undeniable! My only wish? A little more spice would’ve taken it to the next level—just saying! lol

A solid five stars from me. I devoured it in one sitting and loved every minute.

Look no further, because the perfect fall read is right here! If you like your spooky with a side of cozy and morally grey men, then this is the perfect book for you. Salem’s Fall follows James (Jamie) Woodson as she’s trying to work her way to the top as a lawyer. After making a mistake on her last case, she is determined to prove she has what it takes. When the law firm takes the case of a man accused of murdering his fiancé, James is plunged into a world of secrets. Enter Damien Blackhollow. Tall, dark, handsome…dangerous? As James works to uncover what is really going on, she has two things to worry about. Not being killed…and not falling for the man accused of murdering his fiancé. Will she make it out alive?

Thank you @thrillerbookloversthepulse #thepulse #pulsepoint #ic13 #partner @rektokross for the gifted copy of this book!

I’m not gonna lie I took one look at that eerie cover with its haunted house, pumpkins, spooky trees and a full moon? Yeah, I snatched that bad boy up faster than you can say “Hocus Pocus.” 🧙‍♀️🎃🌕 And let me tell you, Salem’s Fall totally fed my Halloween-loving soul.

This was my first book by Rektok Ross, and I was thoroughly entertained. Our FMC, James, is a whip-smart lawyer who’s been getting knocked down one too many times by people who seriously underestimate her. But she’s tough, persistent, and so ready to prove her worth. Especially when she lands on the defense team for one of her firm’s most high-profile cases.

When her search for answers takes her to Salem (yay!), things quickly take a turn to the dark side. And I mean cult rituals, secret societies, and creepy happenings in the dead of night kind of weird. EEP! 😱 James is stubborn and absolutely refuses to back down...even when she realizes she may be in way deeper than expected.

As someone who visited Salem just last fall, I LOVED being able to picture the streets, the energy, and the eerie little corners of the town that Ross describes so vividly. The setting spoke directly to my cold, dark, black Halloween loving soul. The story perfectly blends suspense with witchy vibes and of course had a strong, driven heroine.

This story follows James Woodsen, she's the epitome of the underestimated underdog: brilliant, beautiful, and at the top of her class at Harvard Law, she's shattered ceilings to become the youngest female associate at Boston's most elite criminal defense firm. Yet, one devastating misstep threatens to derail it all. Her final shot at redemption comes in the form of a seemingly impossible case: defending Damien Blackhollow, a dangerously charming billionaire accused of a gruesome murder. James's internal conflict is palpable – not just the pressure of a high-profile case and a damaged reputation, but the moral tightrope she must walk.
However, the story swiftly veers into far darker territory, transporting James and her trusty black cat to the titular small New England town of Salem's Fall. The setting is ripe with potential for gothic suspense and historical macabre. It's here that the true depth of the mystery unfolds, revealing a labyrinth of haunting family legacies, secret societies, and a chilling pattern of ritualistic murders. This infusion of the supernatural and the historical promises a richer narrative than a typical legal procedural.
This story is a masterful blend of legal thriller, gothic mystery, and dark contemporary romance. It’s perfect for readers who crave strong, intelligent female leads, intricate mysteries with historical roots, dangerously charismatic male characters, and a creeping sense of dread that culminates in a thrilling, high-stakes climax.

Salems Fall is about an attorney who refuses to give up after she messed up at her firm but there’s someone killing people now and she refuses to gives up, (let’s not forget about the witches and the cult) but she gets herself into a little bit of trouble while doing so…its a thriller but It’s much more than that. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and once you start reading you won’t stop until that very last page….and you will want more! Rebekah is a very talented author who makes it feel like you are living inside the book and you can picture everything in the book!!!

Ps there’s also a hot billionaire named Damien 😉

A hotshot young attorney. An enigmatic billionaire accused of murder. To uncover the truth, she’ll have to play his game—and try not to fall in love with the devil.

The Silence of the Lambs meets Labyrinth in this dangerously addictive blend of twisty psychological thriller, legal suspense, and gothic dark romance—perfect for fans of Verity, Haunting Adeline, and The Housemaid.

This book has everything I don’t know I needed! As a Halloween girl the cover immediately sucked me in and it was all downhill from there (in a good way). I loved how the main character found herself torn between two worlds and how morally gray Damien ended up being. I really enjoyed the heavy Halloween theme but also the romance elements. Sometimes that can o shadow a story but in this case it felt just right.

Secret Society, ritualistic murders, small New England town named Salem's Fall?!? I love Rektok Ross' writing, so I knew this one was bound to be a banger, and it was! A suspense-filled thriller with elements of horror and the paranormal are a perfect combination. James, top in her class at HArvard and is now working for a prestigious law firm, has to defend Damien Blackhollow, who is a charming billionaire who stands accused of murdering his fiancée. James needs this win. She goes to the small New England town (with her black cat!) and realizes this may be more than she can handle. I literally devoured this book; it was that amazing! I am not really surprised given this has been the case with Ross' other books, but still, I could not put it down! I loved James, and I feel that Ross did a great job at developing her character. I think I saw a bit of myself (not completely) in James which is what made me like her so much. This is a thrill ride you have to take! And just in time for your TBR for spooky season!!!

🎃ARC REVIEW🎃

Pub Date Aug 5th

“Everywhere I look are signs of old-world wealth, though it also seems to exude an air of mystery like most ancient things do, the sort of place where whispers from the past still cling to the walls and every corner holds untold secrets.”

“Just remember—sometimes the truth is more dangerous than the lies.”

This reminded me SO much of the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Even some character names etc. I really enjoyed the Halloween vibes but I’d probably classify it is a paranormal mystery vs a thriller. I’d recommend for a fun little Summerween read and will be checking out the rest of her Dark Seasons series for sure🎃

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
