Sophia Travers is a new author for me and I have to say that The Heir pleasantly surprised me. I grew to love the characters so much, their cat and mouse bickering was so fun to read and although the plot was predictable I found myself really enjoying the romance and chemistry between Aiden and Emory.

Sophia's writing was a pleasure to experience, the book was relatively fast paced which was nice as you weren't left with filler chapters or growing bored. Overall, The Heir was a cute and spicy hate to love romance full of family feuds, undeniable chemistry and the lesson of what it means to listen to your heart.

I'm really looking forward to whatever Sophia may write next!

This book was such a fun read. It’s set in Rhode Island’s high society and follows Emory Hunter and Aidan Prince, two heirs from rival families who agree to a temporary marriage to secure a piece of land they both want. They plan to divorce once it’s done, but of course it doesn’t go exactly as they planned.

The banter between them was one of my favorite parts. It was sharp, funny, and full of tension. The chemistry was amazing, and the romance very sweet and spicy in the best way. I had to pause a few times just to take it all in.

Special mention to Dusty. I loved seeing Aiden interact with him. I also really enjoyed seeing Emory interact with Aiden‘s siblings. I thought their dynamic was very interesting and I loved how accepting they were of Emory.

I also really enjoyed the setting. I don’t usually read books set in this kind of world, so the yachts, polo matches, and old-money vibe made it feel memorable. The Pride and Prejudice references were everything to me and made me love the book even more!

There were a couple plot points that felt a brushed over, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed it. I already want to reread it and I’m so excited for the next book!

Thank you so much to the author and netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I'll admit it openly for everyone to read it: this book made me cry so hard. I normally hate it when a book makes me cry but this one was a clear exception. I loved this book from the get-go and hated that it ended.

I get nervous when I see a book over 450 pages but this one didn't feel like it dragged at all, which is something I enjoyed about it. I was definitely surprised by how much I enjoyed this book but that's a good thing, for sure.

I normally don't read contemporary romance but this one fit what I needed at the time when I started the book. Thank goodness because I needed a palate cleanser after the book I had just finished prior to this one.

I was completely obsessed with this book and kept wanting to read it. I put other things aside and even put another book aside in favor of this book, which should say a lot, right? I hope the next books in this series/trilogy are as good as this one is!

Yes, I'd obviously recommend this book. This shouldn't have to be said but I'm saying it anyway. I loved every second of this book and would read it again in a heartbeat. I'll shout this from the rooftops if I need to. lmao

A really sweet story! Like the very best parts of some of my favorite romances all wrapped into one East Coast summer vibe. It’s giving Pride and Prejudice, Ever After, Downton Abbey, and Taylor Swift’s discography all mashed together and dipped in Ralph Lauren beach wear and served on the half shell with a side of expensive champagne. It’s Romeo and Juliet, except this time everyone’s prefrontal cortex is developed and no one has to stupidly die. It was happy and angsty and heartfelt and I enjoyed every minute of my read.

I would have given five stars but I had a bit of trouble tracking where we were at in the story at the end (we were going to a party but then it was a community service thing but then there was a video but it seemed newer than the earlier video that drove earlier conflict?). The story seemed to jump a bit between scenes and at one point, I wasn’t sure what was supposed to be happening. Still loved it though and would read again.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sophia Travers for the chance to read early in exchange for honest review!

4.25⭐️

The Heir is a marriage of convenience, enemies-to -lovers romance, with a Romeo and Juliet twist. This story is set in the world of warring, old money New England, high-society families.

Aiden is the golden boy heir to the empire. In typical MMC fashion, he is broody, closed-off and always in control. Emory, portrayed as a cold-hearted, but fierce FMC, is the bad girl from the wrong family and the wrong side of town. Their families have a long history of being enemies, but they begrudgingly agree to get married in order to access a disputed plot of land both families need. And that’s when things go from enemies to reluctant allies to lovers in the best kind of unraveling.

The chemistry is sizzling! The banter is top tier! The tension is electric. The angst is deliciously frustrating. I giggled, I swooned, and I occasionally wanted to smack both of them for being so stubborn (in the nicest way, of course).

What really stood out was how the story balanced its light, funny, and romantic moments with deeper, darker themes of childhood trauma, grief, bullying, and the fear of showing your most broken parts to someone you love. This really is such a beautiful portrayal of two people learning to heal and love one another despite all their perceived ugliness and flaws, accomplished without losing its charm and humor.

Add in some endearing side characters (and pets), and you’ve got a story that’s both emotionally rich and incredibly fun to read! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a top tier marriage of convenience romance with both heart and heat! I’m already counting down the days until we get Tristan and Katie’s story in the next installment!

Thank you to Sophia Travers, Love Notes PR and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This book is the epitome of Enemies to Lovers! Aiden and Emory have so much hate towards the other that it’s palpable. I was so sucked into their story and when I had to put the book down for whatever reason I rushed to be able to pick it back up.

These two are both very cunning and will do what they can for their families so when they discover that in order to achieve what they both want and need is to be together they make it happen! If fake love and marriage will bring their dreams into reality both will push their animosity down to show their families they mean business but close proximity and discovery of forgotten truths have both rethinking the feud and wondering if maybe love can be reality!

The banter in this book is some of the best. It’s not over the top and too much to the point where you wonder if it’s all just hate haha! Plus with duel firt person pov we discover that maybe hate isn’t what it’s always been they were both maybe to stubborn to voice what they really felt.

Such a great story and I hope it’s not the last of this clan because Aiden’s siblings are the best and I’m curious to see what the future holds for both families!

The Heir is a beautifully written Romeo and Juliet retelling. The subtle but heart wrenching trauma in Aiden Prince and the cut throat yet caring personality of Emory Hunter creates the perfect amount of emotional conflic throughout the entire book
"For my family, I'll do anything." 😭 Family doesn't have to be blood Hun .. I really hope you make them eat their words.

50%:
The love hate tension is THICK & SPICY. Both are wanting, both are refusing, the way they fire eachother up, I'm over here smiling like a dummy, giddy, kicking my feet, my husband's asking me if I'm ok lol.
"My wife is a liar, a pool shark, and a walking wet dream." OKOK

75%:
Ahhhh this book keeps getting better and better and better.
"In for a penny, in for a pound" missed opportunity for "in for a peony, in for a pound" 😭 it would have been so cute
"Have you tried annoying a woman to orgasm" ☠️☠️

100%
I want to put some appreciation on this specific quote.
""We have to do what's right for our son. I mean, look at him"
We look.
Dusty is picking his butt." ☠️😂

"I don't know what to do. She was mad at me, and now she's crying" oooh get used to it my dude 😂

Final thoughts:
I LOVED this book. The writing was good, the plot gave everything, I love all the characters, like all of them.

I will definitely recommend this book to all my friends.

The Heir is atmospheric - I loved the plot, and the whole setting was a bit moody which fit the story so well. I really enjoyed the rival-families storyline, and the "fake" marriage which brought the protagonists together in a closed proximity setting. The secondary characters were great too, especially the Prince siblings - i wouldn't say no to reading their stories.
That being said, there writing could use a bit of polishing. There were a couple of inconsistencies (eg, the dog that came out of nowhere), and scenes that needed a bit more completeness.
Other than that, this was a good story, especially if you're in the mood for a rival families, rich people situation.

When I say that this book had me in a chokehold, I mean it. I literally had this book superglued to my hands from the first page until the last.

The chemistry between Emory and Aiden was simmering from the beginning. I'm a huge fan of enemies to lovers, especially when the connection is undeniably strong, and this story truly delivered.

This was a Romeo and Juliet inspired retelling, something that is also quoted within the story, but with a modern twist. Members of Emory and Aiden's families hate each other and are desperately trying to separate them, but will their love conquer all? Can their fake marriage survive its one year expiration date?

This is enemies (or rivals, or competitors) to lovers done in style. Set in a gilded bubble of old money and judgy society, against the backdrop of a family feud that persists out of generational habit, this has varied and nuanced characters who are messy and conflicted and the products of their upbringing, and good grief does that produce a bucketload of tension, drama, yearning and ultimately some of the best fighting-as-foreplay I've ever read. The way Emory and Aiden gradually break down their own and each other's walls to get beyond the surface personas they show to the world is just so well written, and they (and we as readers) are rewarded with such sweetness and honesty. Truly one of my favourite books this year, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next instalment.

Thank you to Sophia Travers and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Heir is an angsty tale of two business rivals who decide to marry in order to split a contested plot of land and fulfill their personal interests. Emory Hunter needs to legitimize her families casino while Aiden Prince, the Heir, wants to recreate a long lost whiskey in his father’s honor. When they find out a marriage is needed in order to resolve the issue, they enter into a marriage of convenience.

I won’t lie, this is my favorite trope and it’s done really well here which is not always the case. I truly felt the animosity the two felt for each other and you feel them thawing out and becoming softer toward one another. The Prince siblings have a really interesting dynamic and I really enjoyed how they all accepted Emory.

I loved how Emory was ambitious as well as intelligent. She donates money to a high school she never went to and coaches a mathlete team. We love smart and strong women! Aiden was also a delight! May we all find a man who buys all of our favorite books and then every book we’ve ever wanted to read. It was nice to see stuttering being treated as a character trait and not a flaw.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it was a fast and spicy read. And while this is pretty much also a billionaire romance, the author acknowledges in the end note how that wealth was acquired and mentions donating proceeds to appropriate councils. We love to see it.
