I love bringing porety to children. This E.E. Cummings collection of poems, implemented in a picture book, is adorable. When the world is puddle-wonderful brings his playful language and boundless curiosity to life for a new generation of readers. With Blanca Gómez’s sprightly and charming illustrations, this collection bursts with joy, imagination, and a deep appreciation for the world's wonders.

Interesting book of poetry. The illustrations were in harmony with the text on the page. This book would appeal to an elementary school librarian who was teaching a poetry lesson to a class.

A beautiful collection of E. E. Cummings seasonal poems with a wonderfully whimsical aesthetic. The illustrations are bright and colourful, and reading the whole thing as a family felt like walking through the year. We will be using it regularly in our homeschool basket as a celebration of weathers, seasons and children’s curiosity and imagination. Definitely a book to pick up to inspire you to fly kites, notice the crunchy leaves and feel music in the air - highly recommend!

A diverse group of children celebrate seasons in this cheerful interpretation of E. E. Cumming poems. Music, bubbles, a kite are among the motifs that connect one poem and its scene to the next and make a joyful, thoughtfully curated collection of the whole.
I’ve always loved the playfulness of these poems and nervously opened an ARC of this book, not sure anyone could really do them justice. But Bianca Gomez has. She presents the possibility of language to children in a way that is relatable and sweet (without being cloying). And along the way, she may make these poems accessible to skeptical adults. ;)

I loved the joyful poetry picture book When the World is Puddle-Wonderful, which features classic poems by E. E. Cummings. The bright, playful illustrations added a fun and vibrant touch to the reading experience.

It’s a playful and poetic journey through the year that invites children to see the world with fresh eyes.
This book’s illustrations are wildly colorful, packed with playful details for little ones to discover as they move through each season. One standout scene paired with the poem "Porky & Porkie" gave off such a Where the Wild Things Are vibe, it instantly pulled me back to one of my own childhood favorites. The poems are lyrical and sweet, perfectly capturing the wonder of childhood, and this collection is sure to become a treasured favorite for the little people in your life.
Thank you to NetGalley and W .W. Norton & Co. for the advance copy of this adorable children’s book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is puddle-wonderful! E. E. Cummings is a master with wordplay, typesetting, and rediscovering the joy of childhood, and this newly illustrated collection of his poems reflects all of the nostalgia in the best ways. I was surprised by several poems that I must have read as a child and how vividly they still bring the experiences of Christmas, summer, and Halloween to life, just as they did when I first read them. I highly recommend this book for schools and libraries, and it would make a wonderful gift as well.

a collection of child like poems, his work is highlighted by the graphic imagery in a child like dream. The book shows the antithetic aesthetic of the poet. Using his obversion abstract grammatical norms. The artwork is bright, simple and pleasing. Allowing kids to connect to the poems. But also see that deifying convention is not a bad things.
