After a daily scroll on Netgalley I came across the 11th Ellie Reeves novel by Rita Herron. I’ve read all the books from this series. Normally I buy them as soon as they are released so the fact that I got accepted to eARC read this one has made my day.
This book will be released on the 14th of August, if you’re not familiar with this series you should definitely dive in ASAP.
Detective Ellie Reeves has been enjoying some quiet months; No major cases in the last months so she got to enjoy her time with now boyfriend Cord without having to divide her time. But no rest for the wicked as they say because a call has come in; a body has been found in Brambletown, a town close by that doesn’t have the same capacity as the station Ellie works.
The body or better yet skeletal remains are found in a deserted graveyard; while exhuming the body they also find one red shoe. A day later when Cord is grid searching the woods he stumbles upon a ravine, what he finds has him calling Ellie right away, a red scarf hangs in a bush nearby a piece of recently disturbed land. When the body is safely transported to the morgue and an ID has been made, one thing is getting painfully clear. There is a serial killer out here and a long missing girl in Brambletown might’ve been his first victim. When the body in the morgue is ID-ed as a missing girl they start their search.
With a suspect in mind; they set out to work. Earl Bramble has disappeared just after the first girl Ruth went missing 15 years prior; just before the police wanted him in for questioning, they haven’t seen him since. Leaving daughter Ida (17) and cousin Hetty behind to fend for themselves.
Kat; Ida’s now 15-year-old daughter found her diary stored on an old laptop and started reading about the abuse her mother and aunt had to endure, each entry getting more gruesome then the last.
*sigh* oh Cord, what did you do?!
Since the beginning of this case Ellie feels Cord slipping through her fingers, he has become more withdrawn. She gets the feeling he’s keeping a big secret from her and it has to do with this case, but what is it? And why won’t he trust her enough to just tell her?
With some flashback stories throughout this book and the diary entries you get to read you really start to think you know who this killer is, but in the end… After even considering the sheriff as being the culprit… you’ve come to the conclusion that you don’t know diddly.
This book has kept me guessing, kept me wondering and was so good I just couldn’t put it down. I had to know who it was, how this story ends and I’m so happy I get to say that it really did not disappoint.
A solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!!! stars

wahoo ,our detective Ellie is back and arent we all so glad for it. her books are brill and Rita deserves all the praise for them.
this time Ellie and gang are back with a case in the present that is connected too close to be a coincidence to one of the past. missing girls. red shoes. could this be the same killer? and as we delve into the past and resent as a reader you are kept hooked to both as the truth comes out. and there is far more to know, far deeper to go and far too many secrets that are unearthed.
but this doesn't stop Ellie ploughing forward. more girls are at risk. she needs to get to the killer first.
the revelations that came from this book had me gasping. the thought that must have gone into getting this story line as good as it was is as inspiring as it comes. Rita knows how to tell he stories and boy does she know how to make us shout out loud with emotions!
i loved this instalment. i dont know how but these books keep getting better, not least because now we are in deep i care about these characters. so when something happens either to or around them it comes with more tense reading from us. and thats another success from Rita. that she can make us feel , that she can make us care.

Detective Ellie Reeves is called to investigate a crime in a cemetery. Is it linked to a disappearance 15 years ago? Is this the work of a serial killer?
The Graveyard Girls is a chilling and twisty thriller that blends dark secrets, small-town mysteries, and a strong female lead. Rita Herron builds the suspense which keeps you turning the pages.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy for an honest review.

Another great instalment of the Ellie Reeves series. Enjoyment all the way through from the first to last page. Paced just right to hold the intrigue. Plenty of suspects to choose from and a bonus that I did not suspect the culprit. Looking forward to the next chapter in her exploits.

The Graveyard Girls by Rita Herron, published by Bookouture, is book 11 in the Detective Ellie Reeves Series.
Ellie and her partner Cord's latest case is about a serial killer who many years ago was tangled with Ellie.
An heavy read, emotional where history repeats itself.
Well written a pageturner of its finest.

Ellie’s current case was difficult to read about. Abuse of children always hurt my heart. The author did an amazing job of leaving little clues about the killer. I was surprised by who the killer turned out to be. It was a very intriguing book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Ellie , Cord and Derick are back with this explosive edition that starts out with a missing girl. 15 years later things start happening again.
There are slot of characters it’s a little hard to keep up sometime with who’s who but the storyline past and present keep you guessing until the final reveal. So many secrets come to light.
Cord and Ellie are trying to make a go of it but this cold case is coming between them.
Ellie was the bright spot in his life. The sunshine that lit up the darkness.
This series just keeps getting better with every new story and I can’t wait to see what this talented author comes up with next.

I have read all the books in the Ellie Reeves series and they have all been great and this one was no exception. I loved all the different characters and different POV. Unraveling the case was so much fun. I recommend this series to people that love a good who dun it.

Detective Ellie Reeves and her sidekick, Cord are on a new case. A serial killer with a red shoe fetish.
Quite a cast of characters in this book, so get your notebook out to keep track of them at the beginning!
Fast paced, tense, suspenseful, this book will keep you glued to the pages, and is definitely a 'one more chapter' type of book.
Ellie is determined and doggedly follows each lead.
Cord has a shameful secret which he tries to hide, but it comes out in the end anyway.
I was surprised at the identity of the murderer in a way, but there were many suspects.

Wow! One of the best investigative series out there! Complex mystery and an amazing balance of emotion, passion, and puzzle solving - you get inside the investigators, the killer, and the victims. I was yelling at my eReader "Don't get in the truck!" You will be hooked from beginning to end and eagerly awaiting the next one.

Ellie Reeves has just come out of a quieter period, but the life of a detective can change in an instant with just one phone call. As soon as she is called to a new case, she and Cord spring into action immediately — something not everyone appreciates. But Ellie doesn’t let that get to her. She throws herself into the investigation with full dedication and is determined to catch the killer as soon as possible to prevent more victims.
A murderer is terrifying. A serial killer targeting young girls is even worse. But what makes it even more disturbing for me is a predator who collects souvenirs from their victims. In my opinion, that kind of killer is even more deeply traumatized and therefore even more twisted.
In this book, the author created quite a large cast of characters, all of whom play important roles. I was moved by the story of the Bramble girls, and shocked by the behavior of some of the parents.
What made me shout the loudest “no”, however, came closer to the end. I won’t reveal what exactly happened or who it involves — but I suspect that anyone who’s read the book will know exactly what I mean. It hit me hard, and the tears definitely came.
It’s strange, really, that the story of fictional people can stir up so many emotions. But that only proves what a fantastic job the author did — a big congratulations to her, because she succeeded brilliantly in her goal.
This is yet another brilliant story by this author. Giving it anything less than 5 stars would be a crime. ;)
Thank you
