This book both was and wasnt everything I was expecting. Per the description, its a Clue-style who-done-it in a magical house created by a mysterious magical entity, who forces the FMC to murder guests in order to earn her keep. While the description was accurate, I wasnt expecting the odd why-choose/but not really why-choose romance aspect. I can appreciate a FMC enjoying carnal pleasures just for the sake-of, but at a point in this book they also want you to believe that she is in love with mystery magician/spirit responsible for the house. She gets hit on by her best friend, lusts after his twin brother (who "hates" her for no reason), and bangs their cousin constantly. It took the bare minimum to make her walk around getting wet all the time. The incestuous nature of the love interests inspires more ick than ooh. The core of the plot lacked real substance. We were told that something really bad happened but there wasnt enough feeling behind it to make me really care. Perhaps the characters were just too aloof considering the heavy topic. I didnt predict the ending but it felt underwhelming. I also dont understand why the FMC was so opposed to act of murder, especially when the characters came right back to life anyway. The idea of being trapped in house that expected me to participate in a murder mystery night after night would absolutely inspire me to butcher everyone that got in my way of leaving.

I’m left speechless, who knew I could be so attached to characters that only had a timeline of 12hrs.

I love solving mysteries and trying to figure them out but the end. I really enjoyed all the elements in this book, I’ve never read a book set in the past and it was gorgeous. It gave me cluedo vibes, it was so great. I felt like the fmc was a little behind at all times when it came to the clues but she was cute so I forgive her.

This was a really fun read and I wish I could’ve jumped into the book and participated and changed the outcome because I still have so many questions. I miss Cellie and the boys so much already

ANOTHER FIVE STAR READ FOR THE YEAR!!! I'm so thankful to have read this ARC and I can't wait to share this book on my IG page! Being a hard fan of clue, phantom of the opera, and slasher films this was such a delight to read that had me hooked from the first few chapters. The chemistry and tension between characters, plus the flow of the plot made this book something I could not put down for anything in the world, feeling like I needed to know what would happen next or if my intuition for what would happen was right. Something I do love the most is that the story has you so hooked that anyone might think what is truly going on but nope, you'll get twists and turns that might have you questioning everything! Definitely need to know what comes next because they will be living in my head rent free!!

I really enjoyed this unique murder mystery romantasy! It has strong Clue vibes, with the FMC, Celestine, solving her own murder. Romance, mystery, and magic come together to make this a captivating read with excellent world building. Good spice helps top it all off to make this a really great read.

This was such a good read! The suspense and plot twists through the whole time kept me on the edge of my seat but in the best way possible! The romance and spice were STEAMY and the eerie, spooky elements were perfect! I loved the FMC and how much she evolves and is a badass!! The Specter is such a morally gray character but I enjoyed it so much the whole cat and mouse and his dynamics! Awesome read!

I binged the heck out of this book. I mean... what an insane adventure! It was just so over the top and unhinged, and I ate it up. The drama is addicting, as is the unique setting and atmosphere. I love a book that features the setting as its own character, and Wolfsbane Manor absolutely had its own identity. There was so much drama woven throughout this book, and the turns and tricks had me guessing right along with Celestine.

This book is so bizarrely dark (in all the ways that work), and it plays well with the glamour and the drama of the characters. I quite literally trusted *nobody* and enjoyed getting to see the insanity of the side characters and all of their dramatics.

There is a part of me that wished for more at the ending and felt that it was a bit abrupt, but all things considered, I do think it fit the character's overall arc. I also believe there is more coming in this world, and I am curious and excited to see where it all goes...

This book was such a ride, and it will be perfect for those wanting to get into the fall vibe, as well as those looking for a quick and unique read! (But also as a side note: this has mature themes and content, so please be advised before reading!)

I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this one! You’ll find dark secrets, family drama, betrayals, and tragic pasts in this murder-mystery, fantasy thriller.

The story is set in 1939, San Francisco. Wolfsbane Hall is a manor of grandeur and extravagance (with a sprinkling of magic) and the Ashbrook’s are the pure definition of high society, old money and good old debauchery.

We follow Celestine in a third-person, single POV. She is smart and even if she doesn’t always believe it, strong. As far as FMCs go, she’s a likeable, genuine character and I did root for her from beginning to end.

Without giving too much away, the plot was thick with mysteries inside more mysteries. I almost wanted to get my own notebook out, it really did drive me round the bend in the best way!

Overall, the pace was good, I found it really easy to paint a picture of the setting and characters without the writing being over descriptive. Some nice character development and I really enjoyed how it all came together towards the end. For me, there was nothing to dislike ☺️

Can we also just take a moment for the gorgeous cover too? I hate to say it but I do judge books by their covers and this one grabbed me! Just stunning.

Phantom of the Opera and Miurder Mystery ? Here I am!

I devoured this book and I loved so so much the vibes , the period and the plot ! I was hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down! The only issue for me there was the lack of depth of the characters, I’m such a fan of a deep and well developed character and here I couldn’t find them. But put aside this I loved it!

Get ready for the scariest game night of your life. I really enjoyed the murder mystery aspect of this book and was pleased by its twists and turns. Big Phantom of the Opera vibes.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I loved the atmosphere, the vibes, the time period, and the murder mystery plot. I also really liked the ending, I always enjoy a good bitter sweet ending to a book haha.

What I didn’t like-
She mentioned her wetness WAY TOO MANY TIMES, and I cringed every time. She also kept referencing her body as an asset, and mentioning her breasts and ass. Once is fine, maybe twice is okay, but to keep saying it? I think we get it

I absolutely requested this SOLELY for the cover, I know so many Phantom of the Opera fans I think it was really smart to do an inspired version of the classic play.

I loved the feel of a 1930s murder mystery, with high stakes and suspenseful moments. There is some spice and romance, but it felt very surface level and was missing real connection and depth. I had a hard time loving and connecting with the characters, but it was still a good read that had me scratching my head trying to predict what would happen.

I had a really great time with this book. Picture Phantom of the Opera and Knives out having a baby and this book would be it.

I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. I just HAD to know the twist, HAD to know who the Specter was and what would happen to Celestine. Her choice at the end? Respect it so much. I can honestly say that I thought I had the ending sussed in my head and I was wrong, but so annoyed at myself for the reveal because reading back there was enough hints to guess. There are more books in this world and the specter aspect has intrigued me enough to want to check them out too.

Phantom of the opera meets Caraval, with a murder mystery twist. For those with adult tastes who rooted for the phantom this will be right up your street.
I thought the magical aspects of the performance/murders was really unique and I liked how it reflected the popular game.
I didn’t warm too much to the characters so I wasn’t completely in love with them and hence rated the book a bit lower. The dialogue at times wasn’t quite for me however, that being said, I think it lends itself to the atmosphere of the book in that the characters are dark and messy… so naturally they would be quite layered.

Before I start, can we please admire the cover? This is such a beautiful cover and what initially drew me to this book. Phenomenal! Anyways, Wolfsbane Hall follows Celestine in a murder mystery club and her job there. The house is haunted, which I absolutely loved. We meet her fellow cast members and learn of her relationships with them. One night, though, she’s poisoned and has to discover the mastermind behind the whole club. There are many twists and turns in this story and it honestly creeped me out at some points. I really enjoyed the story and the plot, but I felt that the ending didn’t 100% satisfy me (I think there may be another book?) and there was a plot hole or two I was confused about. Overall, I really liked this and would recommend to those who like haunted houses, murder mysteries, a 1930s setting, and creepiness. When I saw the book's cover and description, I knew immediately that I had to read it. The fact that it had Phantom of the Opera vibes (I'm a big Phantom girly!!) made it even more tempting haha.

I absolutely loved the murder mystery aspect and couldn’t put it down! I kept trying to piece everything together as the story progressed, but honestly, I didn’t see the ending coming at all (I wasn’t a very good detective at all.) I really liked all the characters and hated some of them a lot.. iykyk. They were all so unique and had so many hidden secrets, which I loved so much trying to uncover.

The house and the magic felt super unique! Everything had a magical, spooky, and quite gory vibe that I absolutely loved!When I first started reading, I expected more romance, but the “spice” was mostly lust-driven rather than emotional. I needed more Spectre. 😂

The story did leave me with a few unanswered questions, so I’m definitely hoping for maybe a sequel 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I love how the author incorporates themes from the original novel Phantom of the Opera into such a unique gothic atmosphere in this book. The author has such an easy to follow writing style that completely immerses you in the story while providing enough room for the reader to really appreciate the setting and world that the author has crafted. However, the romance itself I was not completely invested in. While there definitely were a lot of spicy scenes, there wasn't enough emotional depth to the characters to make me feel their relationship was genuine. That could just be me, though. I would still recommend this read for the gothic, suspenseful vibes, but romance-wise it just wasn't for me.

This book was so twisted and fun. It was a mix of Sherlock Holmes/Agatha Christie, Clue, Phantom of the Opera,
Style supernatural horror mystery. Which is to say, it was a brilliant yet unique story that had so many twists and turns that you had to let the story lead you to the conclusion. I hope we get new books following these characters because I feel like there is still so much to learn. This is a must read, can’t put down novel.
