It is decades since I last read a book about the norse myths. This book does them very well and we enjoyed it a lot. Good range of tales.

Go on a journey of a lifetime and join the many Gods like, Odin, Thor, Freya and Loki on their journeys across the nine realms that surround their magical kingdom, Asgard. Defeat dragons and giants along the way, journey to the other worlds by flight and always be on the watch out for the trickster, Loki, and his devilish pranks!
Thank you to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for giving me a copy to read in return for my thoughts and feedback! This book was a lovely collection of 15 Norse Myths for children and is paired with beautiful illustrated paintings to bring the characters and their friends to life! All the stories were interesting and delightful (with only the occasional details about killing and fighting, so fine for the younger audience), and I enjoyed learning more about Norse mythology. The different lands that are all connect with each other by the world tree (Yggdrasil), the afterlife for brave soldiers and fighters where they can celebrate their victories (Valhalla) and the end of the world (Ragnarok) that makes even the Gods shake in thought! 😊

15 Norse myths made accessible and retold coupled with curious illustrations.
This can be a good refresher or introduction to Norse myths.
Great for older children.

This is a fascinating collection of Norse Myths. Fans of mythology should definitely check it out. People interested in learning more should check it out as well.

What a fun read! Lately I’ve been connecting more with my Scandinavian and Norwegian heritage, and learning more about Norse mythology so this was a lot of fun!
The book is marketed as being for children, but as an adult I thoroughly enjoyed the stories and found them clear, concise, humorous, and interesting.
Thank you Arcturus Publishing and Arcturus Digital Audio for the arc and alc version. The ebook copy was beautiful to follow along with, and I felt a nice mixture of illustrations and text. It’s the kind of book I would buy for my family to re-read over and over again.
The audio is narrated by Penelope Rawlins who did a phenomenal job! Each characters voices were different and articulate and she does such a good male voice - very impressed. The inflection, emotion and articulation in which she narrated and told the story was so inviting and captivating.

A fantastic introduction to North mythology for readers of any age. The book is marketed as being for children, but I thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult. It makes Norse stories easy to understand and a pleasure to read. This book will be a staple for my family for Yule!

Norse Myths is a beautifully illustrated and thoughtfully written introduction to Norse mythology for children - but one that adults will find just as enriching. The book offers bite-sized retellings of ancient tales with a modern, accessible voice, making it ideal for bedtime stories or independent reading for curious young readers.
One of the most compelling aspects of this book is how it presents the Norse creation myth, which, while echoing elements familiar from Abrahamic traditions - such as the origin of a first man and woman - also highlights the unique cosmology and cultural depth of Norse belief systems. It offers both familiarity and fresh perspective, sparking thoughtful comparisons with other mythologies.
The stories themselves are exciting and engaging, filled with gods, giants, and epic conflicts - including divine interventions in human wars, reminiscent of Homer’s Odyssey. Young Marvel fans will be delighted to meet the mythological versions of Loki and Thor, deepening their understanding of the characters they know from films and comics.
The illustrations by Khoa Le are stunning - colorful, expressive, and perfectly suited to capture the imagination of children. The visual storytelling enhances the reading experience, adding a magical dimension to every page.
This book is more than just a collection of myths; it opens a window into the culture and worldview of Norse societies like those of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. It’s an educational yet enchanting read that can be appreciated on multiple levels.
Highly recommended for children, families, educators, and mythology lovers of all ages.

This was actually so good and as an adult I really enjoyed listening and reading it. It’s full of so much information so a great beginners intro to Norse Mythology. Thank you NetGalley for letting me read/listen and review.

An enjoyable read on some of the stories of Norse mythology. At times it felt like I was sitting around the evening fire listening to oral traditions. Of course some of the names made me stumble and some were so similar I got confused, but overall would highly recommend this book and author.

Thank you to Arcturus Digital Audio, Arcturus Publishing, the author and NetGalley for providing me with both an LRC and DRC in return for an honest review
A wonderful introduction to Norse mythology for younger listeners and readers! I enjoyed both the Kindle edition and the audiobook. Samantha Newman’s retellings are clear, exciting, and full of personality, while Penelope Rawlins’ narration brings each tale vividly to life. The illustrations in the Kindle edition are beautiful and vibrant—perfectly complementing the stories. From Loki’s tricks to the epic clash of Ragnarök, this is both entertaining and educational. Perfect for kids, and grown-ups, who love myths and legends!
