Thank you Net Galley for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this book. I enjoyed Uninvited, the story was gripping. It took me a while to get in to it but I’m glad I stuck with it

I thought this was a very good story overall, but I have to admit one thing kept nagging at me. The promotional line “It’s a perfect holiday with your fiancé until his mistress arrives” along with the synopsis, says that the mistress arrives while Aimée is in the infinity pool. However, in the way I read the story, the mistress is already there from the start. In fact, they share a ride to the hotel after her boyfriend (who happens to be a friend of Aimée’s fiancé) yells over to ask if they want to share a ride .
Maybe it will be changed before publication.
Still, I enjoyed the read. I personally would describe it more as a drama than a thriller, but that’s just my take.

Just finished the Uninvited. It was an interesting read. I would say it was more of a revenge centered plot that thriller. I was a bit confused at some points in the book. The plot twist was a bit unexpected but did not have the impact I thought it was going to have.

5 ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨s.
Absolutely brilliant.
I loved the whole storyline and thought it was fantastic.
Really really Loved it.
Great characters and just couldn't put it down because I had to know what was going to happen next.
It's so suspenseful and I felt like I was on the edge of my seat... such a pageturner.
Whenever I see a Emily Shiner book coming out I always get excited as her writing is first class.
Congratulations and a very well done on yet again another amazing book ☺
Not so patiently waiting on the next one now

I flew through this book in just two days because I simply couldn’t stop reading. The Miami setting is bright and beautiful on the surface, but underneath it’s packed with tension, secrets, and characters you can’t quite trust. What begins as a romantic getaway quickly spirals into a web of lies, and every chapter had me questioning who was telling the truth. I loved the alternating timelines, which teased just enough pieces of the past to keep me hooked, and the pacing made it impossible to walk away.
I thought I had the mystery figured out, but that final twist blindsided me in the best way. This was my first Emily Shiner read, and I’m already planning to pick up more of her work. If you’re in the mood for a sharp, sun-soaked thriller full of shocking turns and unreliable narrators, this one deserves a spot high on your TBR.

Aimie’s fiancé, Dale, has whisked her off on a vacation, to make up for the fact that she discovered him in flagrante with his lover. But when the strained couple arrives at their destination, Dale’s mistress just happens to be holidaying at the same resort.
The novel starts out strong, told through the alternating perspectives of Aimie and Dale’s mistress. And it seems both women have good reason to hate one another. There is also a developing backstory of a high school party a decade ago, where things went spectacularly wrong.
There were lots of elements to make this a strong novel, but some of the execution fell a bit flat to me. The set up and reveals were good, but at times the story meandered and the forced cliffhangers – way too many poorly thought out threats to kill – weakened the story for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own.

This book had me desperate to see what was going to happen on this vacation from Hell. Aimee and Hannah’s alternating points of view were perfect. I didn’t know who to root for. The twists were wild. At first I couldn’t believe how Hannah didn’t know who the driver was, but after reaching out to the author, I was able to get a little more into Hannah’s desperate for revenge mind. The epilogue wasn’t my favorite but it didn’t make for a good shock. Overall this was a very addicting book.

Aimee and Dale are heading for a romantic vacation…or so he thinks. He’s taking her to Miami to make up for cheating on her, but what he doesn’t know is that she’s going to break up with him. She doesn’t want to be with him after walking in on him with another woman, and while she’s in Miami, her friends are packing her things and moving them out of Dale’s house.
They get off plane, and in the line for cabs, Dale sees a friend of his, Mitch. Mitch has a woman with him - Hannah, the woman with whom Dale cheated on Aimee. Aimee cannot believe that they are there, but her shock grows when she discovers they’re also staying at the same hotel, in an adjoining room. The woman who slept with her fiancé has worked herself into their vacation, changing all of the plans Aimee had for the breakup.
This story is told from the points of view of both Aimee and Hannah, and is the story of a fight to the end. The book also goes between the past and present, as there is a reason Hannah has decided to insert herself into Aimee’s life. This was a page-turner, the reasons Hannah has for being so angry with Aimee are shocking, and the ending was something I didn’t see coming at all! This was a really fun, suspenseful, and thrilling read. Four stars!
(Thank you to Bookouture for inviting me on this book’s tour! “Uninvited” will be released on August 20, 2025.)

Okay, real talk—at first I was like, “Girl, where’s the drama? When does this thriller actually thrill?” 😴 Everything was so straightforward, I swear I could see the plot twists coming from a mile away. Felt like that popcorn thriller you’ve watched way too many times 🍿🙄 I kept flipping pages but my hype was on vacation.
Then, BAM! The last 50 pages showed up like a shot of tequila 🔥🥃 Suddenly, I was hooked, heart racing, desperate AF to find out what the hell happens next. Shock? Hell yes. Excitement? Bring it on. And a little Florida sunshine getaway? Yas queen, take me there ☀️🌴✨
4 stars because it took its sweet-ass time, but that ending? Worth every predictable page.

Rating : 3.5/5 stars
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC copy ! ✨
The twist really pulled me into this story, even with its chaotic vibe and a few glaring plot holes. The characters aren’t the easiest to love, but you end up picking a favorite anyway. I’m a sucker for unhinged moments, and Dale and Mitch going protective over Aimee had me smiling big time. The climax kept me curious for what’s next. If there’s another in the series, I’m definitely checking it out 🫶🏻

thank you net galley for this arc. i really enjoyed this story i like how the author did the dual time line. so we have Aimee and Dale, then there Aimee and Hannah, fast pace thriller with buried secrets.

Thank you NetGalley! This book had me hooked from the tagline. I was drawn in immediately and was shocked with twist after twist and deceit

Creepy. Unsettling. Impossible to look away. From the first few pages, I had this pit-in-my-stomach feeling that never let up—and I loved every second of it. The tension builds slowly, but the payoff is worth it.
One of those reads where the quiet moments are just as disturbing as the loud ones.

I really enjoyed this book, I love unexpected twists and turns and this certainly had that. I just wanted to keep reading and thats a sure sign that im enjoying it. I love books full of suspense and and this delivered and then some. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to be entertained and compelled to keep reading

I absolutely devoured this book in two days; I just couldn't stop myself from reading! From the very first page I was drawn into this story, with its beautiful setting and it's deadly secrets. What was supposed to be a romantic getaway soon becomes fraught with tension, and not one of the characters can be trusted. None of them seem to be particularly good people, which made for a very unpredictable and twisty rollercoaster of a book.
I thought that it was well paced, with the alternating timeline offering little tantalising snippets of the past, keeping me glued to my sofa as I turned page after page. It's clear that something happened that Aimee wants to keep firmly hidden in the past, and I made a few guesses as I was reading of course; but there was no way I would have guessed that twist!
I hadn't read any books by Emily Shiner before but I'll certainly be reading some more; quite often with Thrillers I'll guess the twists simply because I've read so many, but that didn't happen for me this time which is always a sign of a great Thriller for me. I love it when a twist shocks me and this book definitely delivered.
If you're looking for a book with shocking twists set under the hot Miami sun, with unreliable narrators hiding dark secrets, this book should be on your radar and your TBR pile.

This was a real 'don't trust anyone read' with characters that weren't particularly likeable. They all seemed quite narcissistic
Hannah wants revenge
Aimee is hiding a secret
Dale is a cheater
Mitch seems oblivious
One event ten years ago ties these people together and one event in the present will determine their future. The story is interwoven with chapters from ten years ago and when the twist came it made sense.
Good little thriller. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review. this is my honest opinion.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Uninvited is one of those books that grabs you from the start and refuses to let go. The plot is packed with drama and tension, and while much of it stretches plausibility, I couldn’t stop reading. It’s the kind of story that keeps pulling you back in, even when you’re side-eyeing some of the logic.
The setup is bold, a woman walks in on her fiancé cheating, and somehow everyone around her believes it’s reasonable that she wouldn’t recognize the other woman. That premise alone made me question everything, but I still found myself hooked and wanting to know what would happen next.
Emily Shiner has a real talent for immersion. This is my second book by her, and even when the plot leans into the unbelievable, the emotional pull of the characters keeps me engaged. She writes messy, impulsive people in high-drama situations, and somehow makes it all entertaining.
I was surprised by a late twist, which I appreciated as a longtime thriller reader. The ending didn’t hit quite as hard as I hoped, but the journey was fun, fast-paced, and compulsively readable. If you’re looking for escapism, this delivers.

A revenge vacation turns into a game of cat and mouse when some unexpected guests arrive. I was questioning who would be predator and who would be prey about midway through this book. This chilling nightmare vacation will blow your mind.
This is author is well known for her brilliant, twisty plot lines, and that brilliance shines through in this thriller with blinding clearness.
There are some very unlikable characters, but I know this was by design. It's easy to hate the other woman. However, be careful because nothing or no one can be trusted.
Unpredictability with a side of malice makes this book binge worthy and the perfect psychological thriller.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

UNINVITED by Emily Shiner
ARC review - pub date 08.20.2025
Aimee is headed out of town with her fiancé Dale, and at the last minute— Mitch and Hannah join them — but Hannah happens to be someone that Dale has recently cheated with.
I am totally not against thrillers with super unlikeable characters, and I found it hard to root for anyone in this one but that didn’t bother me. I was super engaged to the book, and found myself wanting to pick it up which is something I’ve struggled with lately. Emily’s books are perfect when you need a thriller to keep you on your toes and keep you guessing. The book also starts out with one person out of four being murdered, and you don’t find out until the very end who it is. Perfect for fans of Kiersten Modglin and Georgina Cross.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC

Thank you for this preview copy of the psychological thriller, Uninvited from NetGalley. I enjoyed the premise of the book and the way it flipped between present day and what had happened in the past. This kept me guessing and interested to read on.
The Florida setting with so much centred around the hotel and beach was perfect for the plot line. It also helped this book feel like a good option for a holiday read, as did the genre.
It was a decent thriller with enough suspense to keep me interested throughout. I found it a quick read too, although I do think there were certain bits that could maybe have been edited to make it even more punchy.
