This novel is fact about Amoré. I will preface this review by saying I'm a mood reader and I haven't been in the mood to read a very light, cozy romance story. This book has some angst as it kind of needs it but it mostly makes you smile as you read the initial 60%. It's a writer, Lily, with writers block, on an adventure with a hot Italian woman, Marina, who takes her all over Rome to feed and romance Lily. It's very feel good and makes you want to visit Rome more than normal.
The third break up is...trying. As its basically down to fear of communication and heartbreak, which infuriates me in novels but is always quite human. Hard sell in my opinion.
Serena as a side character is a bright spot in the story.

A theme of definitely having to reach out and explore, never know who or what you'll find! It might just change you life.

I've never read Georgia Beers before and it was interesting enough for me to give her other novels a try.

This story was given as ARC read by Net Galley for review.

That’s Amore by Georgia Beers is a sweet, funny, and heartfelt story about hitting rock bottom and finding love when you least expect it. Lily Chambers is at the top of her game as a romance writer—until the words suddenly stop coming and she starts to feel like a fraud. Hoping for a reset, she heads to Rome, where the food, history, and beauty of the city are supposed to inspire her. Instead, it’s Marina, her smart, charming tour guide, who sparks something Lily thought she’d lost for good.

The connection between Lily and Marina is easy and natural, full of banter, tenderness, and those butterflies that come with new attraction. Of course, nothing’s simple—there’s an age gap, not to mention an ocean between their worlds—but that makes the romance all the more satisfying. Beers delivers all the swoon and longing you’d want from a love story while also giving us a deeper look at what it means to start over. That’s Amore is warm, romantic, and a total comfort read that leaves you believing in second chances.

Writer Lily Chambers is blocked. And not just a little... all she's written for her latest book is 'chapter one.' Her BFF suggests getting away for a bit, specifically going to Rome, Italy.

Marina Troiani takes Lily on a tour with friends, and the two hit it off. But Marina is only 35, and Lily is 49.

(I like that Lily is writing another Georgia Beers book, too, Whisk Me Away.)

Its also interesting as it's entirely Lily's POV. Its not that often you see a single POV romance.

Chloe, Lily's niece, is adorable.

Third act breakup.

Wrap up... I do feel Lily forgives a bit too fast. Still, good wrap up.
4 out of 5 stars.

I found That’s Amore to be a delightful read. From the opening pages, Georgia Beers whisks the reader off to Rome in vivid, loving detail. The city becomes more than just a backdrop; it’s a living, breathing entity that sparkles through the prose, from ancient ruins to cobbled streets, drenched in the golden glow of limestone and possibility . This evocative portrayal of Rome truly captured my imagination and made me want to drop everything and wander those same alleys with a gelato in hand.

But it wasn’t just the stunning setting that drew me in—the relationship at the heart of the story is equally enchanting. Watching Lily Chambers, a romance novelist stuck in a creative and emotional rut, rediscover her spark through her connection with Marina Troiani, the witty and unassumingly beautiful tour guide, is a joy from the first meeting to their tender, vulnerable moments. What’s particularly refreshing is the way their same-sex relationship is treated. It isn’t cloaked in tropes or heavy drama; instead, it’s portrayed with the same sweet, sincere tenderness and day-to-day wonder that any love story deserves—nothing more, nothing less. The chemistry between them feels authentic and warm, grounded in delightful dialogue, meaningful looks, and small, heart-stirring gestures.

Emotionally, the book excels. Beers has a way of detailing feelings so richly that I felt Lily’s writer’s block, her longing, and the gentle revival of her heart as if they were my own. The narrative doesn’t shy away from Lily’s vulnerabilities—the frustration of creative stagnation, the fear of fading relevance, the sudden flutter of something new—yet neither does it linger in melancholy unnecessarily. The blend of introspection and romantic development creates a satisfying emotional arc that felt grounded, heartfelt, and true.

That said, the “conflict” toward the end did feel a touch undercooked. The obstacles preventing Lily and Marina from being together—chiefly distance, miscommunication and timing—were relatable enough, but the hurdle felt easily surmountable. In a novel that elsewhere revels in emotional detail and vivid setting, this simplicity stood out, leaving the climax with a kind of anticlimactic calm. Rather than a whirlwind of tension or strife, the conflict resolves gently—a little too effortlessly for my taste. Still, it’s not a deal breaker, just a nuance that made the story feel a little shorter on tension than I might’ve hoped.

Ultimately, That’s Amore is a lovely, heartwarming romance that excels in atmosphere and emotion. The city of Rome glows with romantic allure, the central couple’s connection feels genuine and refreshing, and the emotional pulse of the story is tender and true. A modest quibble with the ease of the final conflict aside, this was a satisfying and immersive read—one I’d recommend to anyone craving a charming, feel-good love story infused with Italian romance.

Thanks to the publisher Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley for a copy of this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A cute sapphic age gap romcom! Another good read from Georgia. This is well paced, the MC's have great chemistry and the slow burn from friends to lovers. I'm someone who can't stand miscommunication/ third act breakups. But even so I still enjoyed this.

Look, I like it, it was cute as hell, but I’m Italian and I lived in Rome and nope XD It’s not how it works. However the book is really cute and funny, I like it.

I thought this worked well in this type of book, it uses the element perfectly to tell the story and that the characters were so well written. I enjoyed this as a romance writer and was engaged with Lily's story. Georgia Beers was able to weave a strong concept and was engaged with the package. It was everything that I was looking for and thought the band and romance element worked well and was glad I read this.

A cute rom-com set in my favourite city, Rome. It was fun to live vicariously through the characters and stroll the streets of Rome again!

Thank you for NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for a fair review

This gave me similar vibes to Emily in Paris but make it italian but make it sapphic and OMG I ate this up like literally i read 51% of this in like 1 and half hours. This was so addictive and just such a great written book with characters that immediately draw you in the story

I look forward to GB’s books because I know I’m going to love the interaction between characters. All of them, not just MC 1 and 2. Told from POV of Lily Chambers, a romance writer experiencing a great block/burnout, I like the idea of a successful middle aged woman taking the time to get her inspiration back in Italy and unexpectedly finding amore. .Through a food tour arranged by her neighbor friend, Lily meets food tour guide Marina. It’s an age-gap, friends-ish to lovers set up that walks you down the romance path towards the HEA. Makes you want to visit Rome and partake in all the wine, pasta, and pistachio gelato options.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book.

I absolutely adored this book.

It was fun, easy to read, enjoyable and a little bit angsty.

I started this book with low expectations due to recent book reads, but this absolutely wowed me and was just so amazing.

I loved all the characters, I loved the FMCs. I loved Serena and her family/friends.

I thought the main character had so much chemistry with everyone that she met — not exactly romantic chemistry but just chemistry in general, she just clicked with everyone.

I loved how she writes romance books and when she’s stuck with her own book idea, she goes on this beautiful journey and just so happens to find love.

The descriptions of the places she went to in Europe are absolutely amazing. I could literally picture the rooms or the foods that she was eating — the author was so good at making you feel immersed in the whole story.

I loved the age-gap, I’m known for HATINGGG age-gap romances.
But this one?
I loved it.

The age-gap was very reasonable.
I didn’t feel like Marina was a child who was being preyed upon.
Straight romance authors take a note — YOU CAN WRITE AN AGE-GAP WITHOUT THE FMC BEING A CHILD.

The one thing that takes away from me being able to give this a 5 star rating, is the fact that we really only have one POV.
Marina seems like such an interesting and complex character, that it would have been lovely to know her inner thoughts and feeling, directly from her and not from the narration of Lily.

DNF at 25%. I couldn’t connect to either of the main characters, even if they were both charming. I like the idea of the plot, but the execution didn’t work for me and the writing felt flat.

Overall Thoughts
On paper, this book ticks so many boxes for me: a queer/sapphic romance, age gap, slow burn + an idyllic summer holiday. And these were all things that I enjoyed about the story. However, the story did feel lackluster in its execution, particularly when it came to the plot pacing and development of many of the characters, which made it difficult for me to connect to the story. However, if you enjoy sapphic romance, destination vacations + a light/easy summer read, this one might be perfect for you.

Things I Loved:
- Queer/sapphic romance, slow burn + a picturesque summer holiday
- Reggie the Chihuahua + gift-giving as a love language
- Vivid + immersive imagery, particularly when it comes to the sights + sounds of an Italian summer

Things I Didn't Love
- A third act breakup + miscommunication trope (two things that I personally just don't enjoy)
- Flat dialogue, one-dimensional characters + pacing that felt rushed, repetitive+ disjointed

Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the ARC!

I got this as an arc on Netgalley and it has since come out. This is just a lovely sapphic romance with a nice steady space about people around my age bracket (I'm in between the couple age wise). Loved it.

A sweet and entertaining story.
Lily is an author experiencing writer’s block when her agent convinces her to have a change of scenery in Rome to breakthrough the blockage. She takes her chihuahua, Reggie, and begins her journey. Once settled, she makes a new friend and is introduced to more people through her. She meets Marina, a beautiful Italian woman who leads them on a culinary tour. When Marina later offers to be her tour guide to the city, Marina says yes. There is a spark between them, but Marina is 14 years younger and lives in Italy. How can there be anything serious between them?

As the story continues, the author’s description enables me to picture the scenery. Lily and Marina’s ease of connection is sweet and easy to fall into. I loved the way the Reggie, the chihuahua, is prominent throughout the story. It makes it even more endearing. Their chemistry grows and their witty banter is refreshing.
An enjoyable read and one I will recommend to my friends.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the arc.

I really enjoyed this book and I felt that they were a lovely couple. The writing was great and it was such an easy read.
I liked both the main characters and whilst they both had some flaws, that is what made them so interesting. The only reason I would give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ending felt a little rushed and I felt there should have been more trying to impress.

An ARC was given to me via Netgalley in return of an honest review.

I will read anything Georgia Beers published and this one did not disappoint. This was a sweet, easy to read novel that follows a struggling author on her travels to seek inspiration in the “most romantic” city - Rome. Definitely recommend for someone looking for a low angst, medium drama read that featured supportive friends and family members. And a Bonus for the adorable four-legged side character.

This is a perfect summer novel, lighthearted and sweet. I really enjoyed reading it, all the characters are so lovable!

Of course, it helps that it’s set in Rome for most of the time; it’s just impossible not to enjoy the ambience, with all the food and wine mentions. You just feel like you’re there with them.

And the MC, who’s a dog person, is an additional bonus to me, always, Reggie is such a cutie.

Definitely recommend for a European summer vibe, great characters, and an adorable dog.

With thanks to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for this ARC.

Georgia Beers has done it again. Another great story that definitely earned its 5 stars! The book was so immersive I thought I was in Italy with Lily and Marina!

Lily is a fortysomething writer with a serious writer's block. No idea how to fix it, she jumps at the chance she's given to go to Italy to get the juices flowing again. And flow they do. She meets Serena, an American woman living next door to Lily's hotel. Serena shines in her scenes and I really enjoyed her presence on the pages.

Lily meets Marina during a food tour. She's the guide and has become friends with Serena who introduces the pair.

This story just had it all for me. A good flow of scenes where nothing feels boring or dragged out or unnecessary to add some drama. It all just fit.

The only tiny thing that bothered me was when Marina said something in English like an American would. I don't recall the scene but she answered Lily and I know for a fact that no European would string a sentence like that by leaving out a word. But that's honestly the only thing that pulled my attention the wrong way.

Another great read and definitely recommend!

First of all, thank you to Marta for the inspiration she gave Georgia to write this book. She must have been one hell of a food tour guide! Also, whatever super amazing mojo Georgia pickup up on her trip to Rome - WOW! I loved everything about this book. The chemistry between Marina and Lily is off the charts! (I stayed up until 2 am to finish it because I had to know what happened!) Now I need to plan a trip to Rome and book a food tour. I have read most of Georgia's book, but I have to say, this one is on a whole different level. I am also an age gap fan, been there, done that. The looks between Marina and Lily almost make the pages burn! Of course, Reggie is absolutely adorable! Georgia, if an international trip did this to your writing - travel more! Please! Well done, well done!
