Although the outline of the plot was promising, the reality did not really live up to it, I'm afraid.
The two strands, set in 1870 and the present day, did have similarities but the joint hunt, by Ellen and her intransigent stepdaughter mostly consisted of a couple of phone calls. There were a few side plots which just seemed to be dropped. But the bit I found most difficult to swallow was the way that people's characters changed radically in the last few pages to ensure a happy ending.
I'm sorry but this was not for me, but I'm sure others will love it.
