I really enjoyed reading the second book in the detective series. I love Eden's character! Kept me engaged all through even though at times it did get quite uncomfortable. Definitely a book I would recommend.

We are back again with Detective Eden Berrisford in this book 2.
One thing I will say about this author is she certainly knows how to write a bloody good book, and that is exactly what this is. Drawn into the pages right from the beginning this book leaves you wanting more.
A brilliantly put together story highlighting some of the issues of Domestic violence. showing the controlling powers that some thrive on, while injecting fear into their partners. It’s a horrible subject, but one that was covered brilliantly.
I felt for these women the whole way through this book. I wanted to get them somewhere safe and look after them.
Eden is trying to work the case, trying to find out who is attacking vulnerable women. Eden and her team go all out to find out the who and why.
The flow of the book is spot on.
As I said this is the second book featuring Ds Eden Berrisford, yet It could be read as a stand alone, but for me I feel it’s better if you have read the previous book. I find it always helps if you can know some of the characters back history and I feel reading the first book really helps with that.

All I can say because I really don’t want to give to much of the story line away is,,, just treat yourself buy this book get your feet up with a cuppa and get stuck in.
And if you haven’t read book one, then what a treat you are in for because then you can read book one and two back to back. Then sit and eagerly await book three like I am doing.

Well done Mel. Another fantastic read that deserves all 5 of the stars I’m giving it.

DS Eden Berrisford is back and trying to catch a man who is attacking young women in Stockleigh. Carla Gregory works at the local women's refuge but the women who seek help there don't know what she went through at the hands of her husband before he was jailed. Now Ryan Gregory has been released and Carla is just waiting for him to find her - he's found her everywhere else she's lived so why should Stockleigh be any different. While searching for the attacker Eden is surprised to be contacted by her estranged husband Danny but he doesn't want a reconciliation - he wants her to give him money so that he can pay off his debts. He claims that if she doesn't help Eden and her daughter Casey will be targetted by the loan shark. Loved the first book in the series and loved this one - read it in less than 24 hours. Look forward to book number three.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and Mel Sheraton for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This a chilling read, I enjoyed The Girls next door and this follow up doesn't disappoint! It does intrigue the reader and the author makes you work for your enjoyment which is refreshing as too many crime based novels lead the reader by the nose! This most definitely isn't that, it's full of twists which surprise and leave you feeling slightly uneasy! The book comes at time when violence towards women is participating newsworthy, this doesn't recycle it refreshes. The author is skilled at her work and has achieved a fantastic follow up, almost I'd say better that the first book!

Fantastic! Mel Sherratt never fails to impress.
Eden Beresford made her debut in The Girls Next door, in this new gripping gut wrenching psychological read she has proved herself to be tough.ballsy and able to take on anything thrown at her, despite what goes on in her own mind .
She is everything you want in a police officer and more, She shows her care as a boss a friend and a damn good officer.

This is an ACE police procedural read, lots of detail that reads very easily as a 'case',
I really couldn't put it down i read it in two days , my stomach turning as the maze of characters and antics, blood curdling and real imagery caught me up and took me away long enough not to have to go and recap , Bloody fantastic ! Areal page turner.
I really liked the way Eden brought Phil back into the fold , very real and emotionally intelligent :)
I am now sat waiting for the next book "tap tap tap' :)
5* for sure if i could leave more i would Thanks to Mel Sherratt for writing this one of your best yet !

Thoroughly enjoyable. This is the second book following detective Eden Berrisford and it did not disappoint. A really good page turner that flowed beautifully. Can't wait for the next instalment

This the second book in the Eden Berrisford detective stories but can be read as a standalone.

I liked this book more than the first book. It is a gutsy dark read covering rape and domestic abuse, so if this makes you uncomfortable then you may want to give it a miss.

I totally recommend it and am already looking forward to book 3.

This is the second book I have read by this author and it did not disappoint.

Even though I haven't read the first in the series I still enjoyed it. Don't Look Behind You sees the return of Eden Berrisford and her team and the small city of Stockleigh. Three women are brutally attacked in a short period of time, with the attacks becoming more violent. Eden is in charge of the cases and convinced there is a connection to the attacks and they are the work of the one perpetrator.

Her investigation leads her to a local women's refuge where she crosses paths with Carla, a counsellor at the refuge but one that we learn has a hidden past, an abuse victim herself, married to a man who violently abused her many years ago, ultimately ending in a family tragedy ending in his imprisonment.

I really loved this read. The subject matter is pretty heavy material, domestic abuse, and some of the scenes are quite horrific but I think the subject matter is handled really well. The story is very fast moving.

Good book. a lot of characters which confuses me when I only get a few minutes here and there to read. I got there eventually but have read much better by all the modern authors. Honest opinion. Thanks for the chance to read it

The small city of Stockleigh is in shock as three women are brutally attacked within days of each other. Are they random acts of violence or is there a link between the victims? For Detective Eden Berrisford, it’s her most chilling case yet. The investigation leads Eden to cross paths with Carla, a woman trying to rebuild her life after her marriage to a cruel and abusive man ended in unimaginable tragedy. Her husband Ryan was imprisoned for his crimes but, now he’s out and coming for her.
A well plotted police procedural with the theme of domestic abuse. Every woman DS Eden Berresford encounters has had some sort of abuse meted out to them. And then Eden comes under pressure of her own when the husband who disappeared two years ago, returns. Domestic abuse is a terrible thing and the author made a brave decision to examine it. However, for some reason I had difficulty in connecting with the victims. At times I felt Ms Sherratt was telling us all about how they felt, rather than showing us. This meant that at times there were large info dumps and backstories, which for me rather took away the pace of the novel. 4*

There are 2 story lines running alongside each other. Eden and her team are trying to solve a case where women are being randomely attacked with no link between them. In each case it seems that the attacker is becoming more violent.
Eden is also in contact with a group of women at a refuge called "The Willows", Eden drops in there regularly.
Carla is a counsellor there and is vulnerable herself as she is hiding from her husband Ryan.
I really like Eden Berrisford's character, she doesn't give up easily. I enjoyed this story and really hope there will be a follow up.

Wow, is pretty much all I can say! I didn't know this was the second in a series but I am definitely picking up the first as soon as I can (and then rereading this one again.) I love police/crime/thriller novels like this. It was a bit confusing at first to get into as it jumped between several different people and events but once I got through that, it was a delightful read! I love Eden and hope that should I ever need someone to have my back, I have someone like her there. The book is set in the UK and how the police are run is a bit different than the US but that's ok. I also love books set in Britain so this was a great combination of two of my favorites types of novels.

A wonderful book and I can't wait for more from this author and about Eden Berrisford.

I hope to have a slightly better review done soon but as the book is due to be archived today (2/16) I wanted to get my review in before that point. 5 stars!!!

Carla Gregory is a domestic violence survivor and now counsellor at a women's shelter for other victims of domestic abuse. Her husband Ryan has just been released from prison after many years and she can't shake the feeling she is being watched.

Tanya is routinely beaten by her husband Vic yet she refuses to move into a local women's shelter. Carla has tried to counsel Tanya about the risk she is taking returning to a man with a history of violence yet she is drawn back to her life with Vic.

DI Eden Berrisford and her team of detectives have their hands full trying to catch a rapist who is assaulting women in the Stockleigh area. The police have few clues to work with and worry that the level of violence is escalating with each attack.

I like how the author followed these three women as events unfold in this action filled novel. The story's focus on domestic violence and random acts of violence towards women walking alone at night is handled with chilling effectiveness. Berrisford and her team are up to the challenge but the DI's efforts are hampered by an assailant skilled in hiding his identity and home life challenges of her own.

This is an addictive read. As each woman finds herself with only a few blocks to walk or a quick shortcut to take to get home the tension builds because the reader knows someone is lurking in the shadows. There was a point in the novel when I thought the violence of multiple attacks felt gratuitous but it did make for a compelling read when you compared these assaults with the stories of domestic violence, many equally as random and violent.

A page turner to be sure and a series I look forward to following.

I loved this book and it grabbed me right from the start, it has a lot of twists and turns, the pace is great and I loved how the suspense built up to keep me guessing until the end, it is a real page turner.   The story covers some tough subjects really well and the way the whole thing was written drew me in and at times it really made me detest some of the characters.  I wouldn't hesitate to give it 5 stars and looking forward to more of the same!!  It's available to buy now so you can grab your copy straight away!

Don't Look Behind You

Book number two in Mel Sherratt's Eden Berrisford series and wow, what a read! Firstly this book can be read as a standalone, you don't have to have read the first book but you're missing a treat if you haven't!

Women are being attacked (be aware of triggers) and Eden needs to crack this case before anyone else is violated. I really enjoyed this book, it's fast paced, keeping you totally drawn into the storyline from the very beginning. Not to be missed!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book, with thanks to Netgalley and the publisher. 5*

DON’T LOOK BEHIND YOU by author Mel Sherratt, is the second book in the Eden Berrisford series. It is a fast paced quick read and the author did not disappoint tackling rape and domestic abuse .

Three women are brutally attacked within days of each other . The serial rapist is escalating and getting bolder with each crime he commits. In comes Eden Berrisford with her team trying to catch the perpetrator before any more women are hurt . Meanwhile Eden also helps women at The Willow which is a refuge shelter helping battered women . Carla is a counsellor at the shelter and is in hiding from her own abusive husband Ryan who was just released from prison. Will Carla ever be able to escape her past and live her life without looking over her shoulder and will Eden be able to catch the serial rapist in time before somebody ends up dead?

The book was written beautifully with very well developed characters and the end left me wanting more. I would specially recommend this book to people who enjoy s a fast-paced police procedural story .

Many thanks to the publisher & NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and fair review.

A few weeks ago, I got to read the promising opening novel in a new series about an English policewoman who works to solve cases that not only affect her community, but her personally.

I'm glad to say that the second in the series by Mel Sheratt is continuing what is turning out to be a great series.

The new Eden Berrisford novel is full of suspense, tension and touching moments that will have you cheering for Eden and her team.

Eden finds herself hunting down a ruthless serial attacker and rapist who is targeting the young women of her city. As Eden's personal life spins out of control she is forced to confront what makes people attack their domestic partners as she hunts down a violent man. At the same time, a domestic violence shelter in the area is faced with troubles as a new resident brings trouble to them and one of their employees is forced to confront her own past.

This book is not for the faint of heart. It deals with intense violence against women and does not shy away from the graphic details. While it may seem overwhelming it does paint a brutally honest picture of domestic violence and really forces the reader to confront what goes on all too often in the real world. If readers don't feel they can handle this depiction they should really skip this novel.

But for those who do pick it up this book provides suspense and top-notch police work in a mystery/thriller, that's not so much about the "whodunnit," but more about the "how does it turn out." Sheratt really seems to be the master of revealing his cards early, but still somehow keeping readers guessing, which is a nice change of pace from the SURPRISETWIST novels that are all the rage right now.

It really feels like a Dwayne Johnson, action-packed movie in book form.

The subplots involving Eden's personal life are just interesting enough to keep me excited for new novels in the series, without taking away from the main plot. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Highly recommended.
