A really wonderful story that did not in any way disappoint. Filled with romance and a strong plot, Paige Toon really did a great job with this one. You can't help but fall in love with the characters along the way either.

Paige Toon is one of my favourite authors, and this book did not disappoint. With the right about of romance and drama, the plot was strong from the beginning. I fell in love with Bridget, Charlie and April and I felt all the emotions that they went through, which proved how much of a good author Paige is.

This was a pretty average read but was not anything special. I quite liked a couple of the characters but they just seemed like caricatures at points (but other points seemed like 2-dimensional characters).

I found Bridget’s story enjoyable. I have never read a story by Paige Toon before, but I found it a cute story. I would read more by her in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Always love a Paige Toon book - she writes super characters.
Only sampling a chapter still gave me the definite view that this is another winner for her.

When life feels like a puzzle, sometimes it's the small pieces that make up the bigger picture... Join Bridget on a journey to put her world back together.

A successful travel journalist, Bridget has ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog about the missing pieces of her heart into a book. But after a spate of rejections from publishers, she accepts an alternative proposition.

Nicole Dupré died leaving behind a bestselling novel and an incomplete sequel. Tasked with finishing the book, Bridget is thankful to have her foot in the publishing door, even if it means relocating to Cornwall for the summer and answering to Nicole's grieving husband, Charlie...

‘You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and be hooked from page one. A beautifully written, heart-wrenching journey of love and loss with a great twist at the end

Chapter Sampler - did not find that at the finish of the sample that I wanted to know more. While I didn't realize it was a sample - the writing style and the characters did not make me feel as if I needed to know more I will not be rating or reviewing the full title -and there are no plans to publish a review (even of sample) to any sale or social sharing sites for this book. Thank you

Revew is for the full book

I am a huge fan of Paige Toon and I have read almost all of her books. Lucy in the Sky is one of my favourite books of all time. One of the things that I love most about Paige’s stories is how they are all connected.

Bridget first appears in The Longest Holiday and Thirteen Weddings. I have always loved Bridget’s character so I had a lot of excitement for this book. Bridget has a lot of layers and is a very complex character. She puts on a bit of a front that she is a happy go lucky girl but she has so much depth to her that not everyone gets to see.

I won’t go into the story but there were some parts that were really heartbreaking. I loved the two main locations. I haven’t been to Thailand and I have only been to Cornwall once when I was little but thanks to Paige’s descriptions I felt like I was right there with Bridget.

This story is some classic Paige Toon writing. This book is exactly why I fell in love with Paige Toon back in 2009 when I first read Lucy in the Sky. This is my favourite book of 2017.

I think the ending for this book and I don’t think there was a more perfect person for Bridget to give the last piece of her heart to.

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this sampler to completely whet my appetite for the rest of the story.

Bridget rekindles her relationship with Elliott and offers a publisher a story to get her heart back from all the men she fell in love with. Her publisher asks her to ghost write a sequel by an author who recently died.

Bridget upends her London life to move to Cornwall to start the journey. Paige is one of the chick lit queens who writes her stories filled with love and giggles. I need to go and buy it now!

I only wish I had the whole thing to read!
As a hopeless romantic 20 something, Bridget is a relatable character who I wanted to read more about.

Hooked from the sample that was downloaded , I immediately had to source and devour this book . Beautifully written , emotionally charged , I was unable to put it down . I fell in love with both Bridget and Charlie and of course April . This author has never disappointed me in the past and wasn't about to start now either . If there is one book to buy this year ... This is it !

When life feels like a puzzle, sometimes it’s the small pieces that make up the bigger picture

This isn’t the first book i have read from Paige Toon and i can safely say that this is my favourite by a mile.

This isn’t just a romance or romcom, it is a story about love and adventure and growing and finding your place in the world.

This book will make you laugh and cry in equal measures 🙂

The book is about Bridget, a successful travel journalist with ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog into a novel which takes her on a journey tracking down all her exe’s to find out why her relationships have resulted in failure and why she wants the pieces of her heart back. (I’m not sure I would want to come face to face with some of my ex’s!!)

But whilst facing rejection from publishing companies for her own book she is approached to ghost write a sequel to a novel that the previous author passed away before writing.

Seizing this opportunity Bridget moves to Padstow for the summer. And the layers of emotion begin …

There are so many different layers to this book that blend seamlessly that add depth to the characters, the places and the emotions running through out the book.

This book is just perfect to curl up under the duvet with a nice cup of tea and get lost in the quirky world of Bridget.

Wow, what a great start to the book. I was engrossed from the first page and desperate to know more.

Have been looking at this since release, but for reasons unknown I haven't yet picked up to buy. Will definitely want to find out more about what happens to Bridget & what adventures she goes on. Definitely one for fans of Lindsey Kelk & similar people in Paige's writing style and story. Highly recommended! Now to go find this book in the shops!

(3.5 stars) As a note, an e-galley of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way.

This was my very first Paige Toon novel and I'm so very glad I picked it up. I was promised a good old fashioned escapists read and that's exactly what The Last Piece of My Heart served me. I loved it for that reason! But also... didn't always connect with it for the very same reason. That sounds odd, doesn't it? Well, I can't think of any other way to put it. There are books that are just so beautifully crafted that they leave a mark on your heart and this is one of those.

Which is why I'm not going to point out the parts of the novel that just weren't for me. Flaws are an ever present aspect of life and literature, and there's just no point in me tackling them in this review because The Last Piece of My Heart was much more than its flaws. And if this is only the beginning of what Paige Toon has to offer? I'm definitely giving her archives a second glance.

I was very fascinated by the plot-line of this book because, frankly, I haven't read many with this POV. No, this isn't to say that there's no books out there about writers who pick up other writers' work after it is left unfinished. There probably is. I have simply never read any, which is what made this quality so compelling to me. I loved that vibe that it gave, you know?

While skimming through the authors notes and traveling to get an idea of where this sequel should go, our main character is set upon a course she may not have expected. Toon provides readers with a heartwarming tale of the past and the future; writing, love, loss and so much more. The Last Piece of My Heart is more than just your average warm and fuzzies chick-lit release. It's a bit of a piece of heart itself.
