***4 ‘Starch & Grease’ Stars***

I have to say that I went in to Kiss My Boots expecting something different than what I got, but I ain’t mad about it at all. It was a fun, quick read that leaned more towards the open and honest then closed off and broody and I found myself eating up every word until the very end.

OMGTate! This man, I swear is just all kinds of goodness. The bottomline with him is that he man’s the fuck up. He isn’t perfect, he knows exactly what his faults are, but he puts it all out there and it’s up to you to either believe what he’s putting down or not. Quinn. God this girl. Those who know her best call her ‘Hell-Raiser’ and she most definitely is, but then things go a little sideways and you see that vulnerable side she does her best to hide and she actually becomes more approachable and makes it so much easier to see her heart.

So, I stated that this book went in a different direction than I expected and I honestly thought Tate and Quinn’s second chance romance would be a hell of a lot more angsty and it wasn’t. There was hesitation, there was a bit of not believing that things could work out, but it was in no way OTT. Tate and Quinn actually approached things like adults...well, for the most part...and were quite transparent (even when they didn’t want to be) with their feelings and it just made it so easy to see why they should be together when everything was said and done.

As much as I loved Tate and Quinn, I can’t deny that Mav, Leigh and Clay were huge factors in my overall enjoyment of this book, as well as a few other characters who played small but significant parts in the story *cough* Jana and Mark *cough* They made it fun and believable and kept things real and on the level, especially where Quinn was concerned. Kiss My Boots was a fun, low on the angst, smexy character driven romance and I am looking forward to diving into Clay’s book!

This is the second book in the series and it has the sister Quinn Davis tomboy and the top mechanic in the area. Her fascination with restoration is really what makes this story stand out for me and her love of trucks. It is receiving a truck to be restored in her shop that begins to set her off, because that truck belongs to the one person who she gave her heart to and he took it. She has not been able to trust a guy or feel anything for a guy like she had with Tate Montgomery and now she is not looking forward to seeing him after all of these years. What is really good about this story is that as much as she is tough the shows you her gentle and feminine side. This adds to the story because she is always tough and hard core but you get to see her in a different light. Don’t get me wrong she is still tough especially when another women shows up thinking she is the one for Tate and Quinn in her way lets her know that she is mistaken and it is time to get her boney self-back in her car the easy way or the hard way. That of course was the Quinn we all know and love. The few times she shows up at his doctor’s office were good scenes as well. All of these plus Tate himself explaining why and what happen make for a very interesting and entertaining story. A very good book and of course good characters, who could go wrong with a women that can restore old trucks and talks to them as she rebuilds them.

Second chance love story with a lot of feisty-ness and drama thrown in. I'm a sucker for a good tom-boy and Quinn fit the bill perfectly. I didn't love all of the story but overall was an enjoyable read. I've read book 1 and was committed to the series. Looking forward to book 3...

I really enjoyed the first book of this series and thought the sassy younger sister Quinn would have a great story. I was a little disappointed. Like other readers, this plot felt very similar to the plot of book 1 (and ultimately of book 3 as well). While the Davis boys stole the show in books 1 and 3 of this series, Quinn and her man failed to do so in this book. The plot was good, but I didn't fall in love with either character or go on thinking about the plot for days after I finished reading it. In fact, as I write this review, I cannot remember the name of the main male character. The humor in this plot line saved it and made it a 4-star read for me.

The writing style is not working for me; it's a bit wordy. Sorry but I couldn't finish this book.

I am absolutely loving Harper Sloan's Coming Home Series. Kiss My Boots was the perfect follow up to Lost Rider.
It was impossible not to fall in love with Quinn in the first book. Her wit and no-nonsense attitude endeared her to me. I was excited to read her story. Quinn is no stranger to heartache, abandoned by her mother, raised by a ruthless and uncaring father, and left by the only man she's ever loved. Her brothers, her best friend, and her shop are what's important to her now.
Tate Montgomery has made a huge mistake and now he's going to do whatever it takes to fix it. Finally in a place to right past wrongs, Tate travels back to Texas and back to the woman who still owns his heart.
What happens when the past shows up at your door? Do you run away from it, or right towards it?
It was easy to get pulled into this story. Sloan always creates such complex characters. The way they develop and unfold for us makes it impossible not to connect with them. I enjoyed how open both Quinn and Tate were. They knew what they wanted and went for it. We didn't have to spend the whole book dealing with back and forth and mind games. On their own, these characters were fabulous. Together, they were even better!
Sloan surrounds our couple with a strong support system. Quinn's brothers and her closest friend, Leighton, play a large role throughout the book. The dynamics between all of these characters adds so much to the story.
The deep storyline was sweet, sexy, and quite emotional at times. I enjoyed the laughs as well as the tears and everything in between. I am eagerly awaiting Clay's book, I have a feeling it's going to be the most intense.

This was too much like the first book for me. Harper Sloan is a master with words and creates a beautiful picture. I just wish there had been some variation and unpredictability with this story. It's a good book but not great. It's definitely steamy and if you haven't read the first book then you'd probably really enjoy this one. I just expected more from this book and didn't get it.

Kiss My Boots is the second novel in Harper Sloan’s Coming Home series. Quinn is the baby in the Davis family who is a bad ass mechanic in her family’s garage who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. While with all outward appearances she shows endless strength, no one knows the heartbreak she suffered from the hands on one man. Tate and Quinn’s relationship was a sweet puppy love until Tate up and left with no explanation. Quinn has endless prof that men aren’t worth all the pain they cause, so when Tate finally shows up back in Pine Oak she isn’t looking to repeat the mistake of falling for the unreliable man again. Tate is persistent in his quest of getting back the one he left behind. Tate must prove that his love for Quinn was what kept him from her and that he is no longer going to let anything prevent him from her heart, including Quinn herself. The connection between Quinn and Tate was intense and easy to feel from the very being of this novel. I loved reading Quinn and Tate re-falling in love. Kiss My Boots is a heart melting novel that was hard to put down and an easy 5 star read.

quinn davis might be short and sassy and takes no prisoners as the majority owner of davis auto works and lead mechanic, but she's hiding some serious heartbreak in her past. nine years ago tate montgomery left for college, just at the end of a summer where they admitted their feelings for each other and slept together, and he disappeared. his phone was disconnected. he never came back. it was as if he'd dropped off the face of the earth. with no word, no notice, and no closure.

and suddenly he's coming home. and in kiss my boots, quinn's first reaction to that news is to let him know he can kiss her boots. but when she learns the truth behind the choices he made. she realizes there was another side to the story. and as much as their separation hurt her. he really was trying to do the right thing.

and now they have a real chance at love. in the years they've been apart they've grown up, they've changed. but one still holds true. they are still as much in love with each other now as they were then. tate has always known that quinn is it for him. she just needs a little time to believe that all her dreams are coming true. that when tate says he loves her, he means it and he's going to stay.

because the truth is, all she's ever wanted was someone to stay for her. and this is why his abandonment crushed her all those years ago. and even though it's not entirely his fault, she needs some time to let that sink in.

but when it does, she knows he means it. that this time it's quinn and tate forever.

Star Rating: 4 stars

Finally...I have wanted Quinns story for what feels like forever.

Ahh..little hell-raiser! I just love the shit out of her and have my own Quinn in my life as well as what she has with Leigh.

Tate and Quinn are explosive! I had my fingers crossed and uncrossed throughout this whole book because I wasn't sure where it was going to lead but then BAM I'm hit with the worda that I read in Book 1.

Running from a pull that could potentially be life changing for the better is hard to resist and for Quinn she wants to stay away from it, from the hurt but damn it, it feels good to want it too.

So much history goes along with Tate and Quinn that it is so relatable to most, I know it is with me.

The Davis family is one I love dearly and I cannot wait for Clays book next because the big brother has me intrigued and I want more.

A romance story featuring cowboys and serious goosebumps. I love the idea of trying at a chance for a second attempt be it peace, romance or a place to call home. I loved Quinn i felt a great affinity to her and her attitude to men, but i must admit even i would find it hard to not fall for a man like Tate Montgomery. Well worth a read, as cowboys are not normally my cup of tea but this one certainly kept me reading his story.

Kiss My Boots had a pretty strong start for me. I love women doing unconventional jobs and the fact that Quinn is a mechanic was something that had me looking forward to this book.
Unfortunately once the couple got together it turned into another long winded, repetitive profession of love. I think the majority of the book was him talking to himself about how much he loved her/they were meant to be/its only been her-- him talking to her about those same things. Then her doing the same thing.
That's one of my personal reader peeves and one of the few ways to get a DNF from me. I almost did not finish this, and actually started the next book in the series. The next book gave me a "spoiler" that made me want to see how the end of this book played out so I picked it up again before continuing on. I'm glad I picked it back up because it did get better at the end.

Sloan never fails to grab hold of my heart and keep it enthralled to the very last page. Kiss My Boots is the perfect example of why I love her books so much. I am a huge sucker for a second chance romance and Sloan did it perfectly!
Tate is all kinds of swoony. After being forced to stay away for 9 years, he is determined to get back what he lost. Now that he is back in town for good, nothing will keep him from the only woman he has ever loved.
Quinn is my kind of girl. Strong, sassy, and not afraid to say what she thinks, I could totally hang out with her!
I am so in love with this series! I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

It felt like it took me ages to finish this book!
KISS MY BOOTS was simply more of the same from the previous installment. In fact, it was almost identical to the first book's storyline. The Hero and Heroine fell in love when they were just wee children and then at about the time they're both eighteen, the Hero, Tate, leaves Quinn behind without any explanations and is gone for nearly ten years. Quinn has never gotten over that heartbreak and has also not allowed any man to get close enough to mean anything to her.

Now, Tate is back in town about nine years from the day he left and he's taken over his grandfather's medical practice and home. His mission is clear and there isn't anything that will stand in his way of winning back the heart of the only woman who ever truly owned his!

The plot was predictable and the pace of the story was slow, which made it hard to enjoy but by the time I was nearing the end it did pick up a bit and I must admit there were some yummy steamy scenes and one in a gynecologist exam room that I will surely not forget anytime soon.

I did love Tate! If it weren't for him I probably would not have ended up liking this book at all. Hoping that the last book will be the one to knock me off my boots!! LOL

Here are my overall ratings on the book:

Hero: 4.5
Heroine: 3
Plot: 3
Angst: 2
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

I'm going to start this review with two of the most used phrases in this book "Kiss my boots" and "hell-raiser". Seriously, these two phrases were mentioned at least 20 times EACH!!

"Kiss my Boots" is the second installment in the Coming Home Series and it follows Quinn, the baby sister in the Davis clan. If you read book one then you know that Quinn was Leigh's best friend and now, her future sister-in-law. Quinn and Tate were childhood sweethearts until Tate left one summer nine years ago and never returned. All of Quinn's attempt to reach out to him were not successful and this broke Quinn's young heart. Now Quinn is a "hell raiser" as everyone calls her and she is also the best mechanic in town. Finally after nine years apart, Tate makes his grand return to Pine Oaks and his first mission is to get back the woman who he has loved for as long as he can remember.

That is pretty much all that I have to say about the plot because nothing really happens. I wanted Tate to grovel more than he did in this story and I think that with nine years gone and the heart break that ensued, it should not have been so easy. Now I am not looking for the hero to grovel for the entire book, but what I am looking for is for a hero to grovel for at least half of it so the make-up can be awesome. That is one of the major issues in this story. There is no angst or intensity and there is entirely too much monologue. It took so long for Tate and Quinn to come face-to-face and it pulled me out of the story.

I was expecting a really exciting story with Quinn because she was a great side character in book one. But in her own story, she played second fiddle and she did not shine like I expected her too. Tate was an okay hero, I guess, and he was sweet, but he was not interesting to me.

I have minor spoilers from book one, so be warned… Maverick and Leigh's wedding was heart touching and sweet and it added a nice touch of emotion. The twist at the end served no purpose at all and their relationship was just "blah". I gave this story 3 stars because the first half is actually enjoyable and the sex scenes are hot to say the least, but the repetitive use of those two phrases and the monologue really dragged this story in to snooze ville. Another thing that I liked about this story was the Texas drawl that was thrown around. I do love my cowboys, but Tate was not a cowboy at all. He was a doctor, so that kinda pulled me away too.

Now the next installment will be about Clay, a real cowboy, and the eldest sibling of the Davis Clan. I am really hoping that the author pulls back on the monologue and introduce some dialogue. Just saying…..

Woah. I just started this series from Harper. I bought and loved book one. This one captured me too.
I'm now off to read my ARC of book three. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review.

The Coming Home series has brought us another second chance love. This one follows Quinn, sister to Maverick from the first book. You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this one, but it does have Maverick, Leigh and Clay in both books and you do get the continuation of Maverick and Leigh's story.

The Davis siblings all suffer from the abandonment of their mother and the cruelty of their father who has since passed. Add to this, Quinn's first and only love stopped all communication with her with out a single explanation when they were younger. Her sense of abandonment just grew when the only boy she has ever loved could be so callous. 9 years later and she still hasn't been able to properly move on from Tate and now she finds out he's moving back.

Second chance romances are not one of my favorite tropes usually because of the reason for the separation. In this case, Harper Sloan provided us a Hero that sacrificed his relationship to protect her and others he loved. Now that is something I can get on board for.

I'm enjoying this series and I love the characters but I will admit that Quinn was a hard character for me to connect with. She's a female mechanic and a strong female character but her cowboy language did tend to come off overly dramatic at times. Still a great story.

I loved seeing these two work it out with out any crazy other woman drama. It had the potential of going there and I like that the author toned down what could have been major drama when a previous hook up didn't want to let him go.

I really enjoyed this book, i knew that tough cowgirl Quinn had to have a really good story behind her No-man attitude.

Years ago Quinn met Tate and they became more then just friends during his summers in town. But when he went off to college and didnt come back, Quinn decide that men weren't worth her time. Now she runs the family auto shop and has the occasional one night stand. When Tate comes back to town will he be able to break down the walls that he had a hand in building?

At first i wasn't a big fan of Tate for Quinn. Mostly because we get introduced to him when he is out with someone he continually hooked up with. Maybe that make me judgmental, but i want the hero to be with just the heroine, and he is breaking it off with the woman, but it still rubbed me the wrong way. But as the story progresses and you get a little more insight to why he left i began to like Tate more and more. Everything he did and everything he sacrificed to protect Quinn made me understand the way he was before he came back to town and made me root for him to get the girl.

All in all this is a heart warming story the hero finally get back the girl, despite a rocky past and some on going problems with family.
