Okay I didn’t think it could go downhill from the first one but you guessed it, it did.

I do not know what happened in any of this book.

With thanks to netgalley and the publishers and the author for this ARC

The change: London Orbital and the two books in this trilogy are an alright set of books, which I enjoyed to read, even though these books are aimed at the YA market.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in return for an honest review. This review is based entirely on my own thoughts and feelings.

Okay, I didn't think it could go downhill from the first one but it did. I do not know what on earth happened in any of this book. Grace (cool chick) was trying to find her brother after the world changed, as described in the first book. But apart from that I cant really describe anything. It was like a weird Alice In Wonderland style plot, where things didn't flow and weirdness happened, but not in Carrolls magical way. Although there was a Queen, who was also egotistical and horrible. I'm hoping the third book cant be worse than this one. We'll see.

A fun read, but lacked depth. I think this is the weakest novella, but I like the writing and concept! Recommend to fans of fun and adventure.

I requested all three of these books at once because I found the concept intriguing. However, unfortunately the books did not gel with me. I have seen positive reviews of this series so it appears that this may gel with other readers.

I had expected this book to follow on from the first in the series, which seemed like a very short introduction to a character and premise. Unfortunately it's got nothing to do with it, and things just seemed a little weird and illogical as well. I can accept a short series when it's developed over time, but there's just not enough plot here to call it a book. Perhaps these characters meet up later down the line; but really if so, these should have been one full length novel with multiple character arcs.

In Book 2 of this series we meet Grace, who is searching for her brother. She meets a man who believes himself to be God and they continue into the Queen of Coney Island's territory. Grace needs her permission to travel to Rikers Island, where she thinks her brother might still be - but she is set an impossible task before she can reach him.

This book has the same kind of open-ended structure - it feels like you're just dropping into the characters' lives for a day or so. But I enjoyed the story much more than the first one. It has a clearer idea of what's going on, the settings feel more complete and the story is a lot more amusing than horror funny.

Really interesting characters and plenty of action made this a fun book to read. I really liked it having read the previous in the series.

Book Review
Title: New York: The Queen Of Coney Island (The Change #2)
Author: Guy Adams
Genre: YA/Action/Survival
Rating: ***
Review: After the dramatical and slightly gory events in London: Orbital I was keen to see where Adams would take the story in New York: The Queen of Coney Island as there are plenty of options. Unlike London: Orbital this story follows Grace and the search for her brother, but I have a feeling that our characters might cross paths at some point in the series.
From the offset, we see things are no better in America than they were in London. Grace as a 15-year-old African American girl is often hit on by men that no longer see the need for laws now the world has changed and there is also the threat of cannibals patrolling the river. We learn that Grace’s brother is on Riker’s Island and the only way to get there is across the river, but you can’t cross without the Queen’s permission. Along the way, Grace meets a man claiming to be God and he gives her some advice.
Grace and God managed to make it to the Queen’s hideout but not without some trouble along the way. While they are waiting to see the Queen, they decide to take in some of the entertainment on offer including a meal on a rollercoaster. While this book seems to be lacking the gore of the first novel it has a dark humor that is just as entertaining. By the time Grace gets to see the Queen she doesn’t think that the Queen will grant her request, however, the Queen agrees on the condition that Grace feeds the babies in Dreamland. Given the number of humanoid creatures, we have seen this isn’t going to be a nice experience for Grace.
Entering Dreamland Grace and God find some of the most wondrous things in the changed world. However, when they find the babies, they make a bid for freedom which isn’t good. In order to fulfill their agreement Grace and God have to round up the babies but the park itself seems to be coming to life and it drives the different factions of the park to war. While being hunted by various factions Grace and God manage to find some allies. It also seems that a few of the park residents are actually dead, kept there by the park itself.
The Queen of Coney Island wasn’t in my opinion as good as London: Orbital because it lacked the true sense of danger and gory atmosphere, but it was still equally creepy in its own right. I really enjoyed the characters and their journey, but I was a bit disappointed that Grace’s story didn’t get much resolution as she was searching for her brother and the novel ends with the gang beginning their journey to Ricker’s.

Did not finish; in context, I read the first book, started the second book, and didn't bother with the third book.

This series is absolutely ridiculous in a "someone smoked the good stuff" way. It makes no sense. It seems to have no direction. Yet still somehow I keep reading. Why?

It's clever. It's suspenseful. Hilarious. Grotesque. Witty, charming, and utterly unique. One sitting fun. The creativity astounds me. Roller coaster restaurants. I mean, what's not to love?!?

I can't imagine what this zany series will have in store for me next, but I'm glad to be along for the ride!

Not really for me in the end. I was confused which is a shame as I generally do like these types of books.

'New York: The Queen of Coney Island (The Change #2)' by Guy Adams continues the series of short novels of a world gone weird. This one was a bit different from the first book, but I still like this series.

The world has changed and not for the better. Grace lives in New York and just wants to find her brother. She ends up teamed up with a guy who calls himself God. Her brother is on Riker's island, but she needs permission to travel from the Queen of Coney Island. The Queen gives them what seems like a simple task: to feed the babies in Dreamland. The old Dreamland burned to the ground, but somehow in this new strange world, it's back. It's also pretty lethal. Grace and God will need whatever help they can find, especially after the babies are accidentally released.

It's a different set of characters this time. Maybe they will all meet at some point in the future, although in a changed world, I'm not sure how people in New York would get to London or Paris. I liked this strangely funny story of the old Dreamland and the odd characters who find themselves there.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Solaris Books, Rebellion, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Not what I expected or hoped for from the synopsis and I struggled to follow the series.

I just could NOT get into this, it didn't grab me at all and I kept losing my place in the story.

Unfortunately this book was just not my cup of tea. I read but didn't love the first and third in the series.

I felt the first book had potential but I struggled with this and wanted so much more from the story.
