DNF. I couldn't connect with this book at all and found it really hard to get into. I had high hopes for this, which is a shame.

Read and adored this in 2017, Sarah continues to be one of my favourite authors - i loved this addition to her stories and getting to know all the characters. I didnt write a full review at the time.

I've had this book on my TBR pile for a while but I was waiting for the right time of year to read it - just me - you could read it at any time of the year, but I really wanted to imagine being in NY at Christmas time and it did just that for me.

I felt like the characters had walked into this book rather than being written, they came to life with all their back story so easily and effortlessly that I was immediately drawn into the story. Yes, it's a romance and really if you aren't looking for that - pick up another book instead!

Harriet has set herself challenges and we meet her at the beginning of the book part way through her challenge of online dating. Although it's a light hearted book there is a back story of why Harriet feels she needs challenges and it was a little sad. I just loved how Harriet's confidence built through the book and loved her character and her empathy with dogs. A really witty supporting character Susan was very amusing too. This is apparently part of a series of books which I hadn't realised. Although Harriet and her sister have appeared in previous books I easily read this as a standalone book.

So if you are looking for a nice feel good seasonal read - this is the book for you. As one of the characters says "like a hug in a mug", but in this case it's in the book.

I'm giving this book five out of five stars

If you're looking for the perfect Christmas book, then look no further.
It made me laugh, feel sad, smile and feel all warm and cozy inside like I'd just had a yummy, comforting, steaming cup of Bailey's hot chocolate or mulled wine in front of a roaring fire on a chilly winter's day.

For one month between Thanksgiving and Christmas Harriet decides it's time to step out of her comfort zone, and do something that challenges her. She's on a mission to find her confidence as she certainly doesn't want regrets or to live her life alone. She loves dogs - being a pro dog walker - but she craves human intimacy.

On one of her challenges (a date with a guy she met online) she escapes through a bathroom window, only to fall heavily on her ankle. A visit to the ED introduces her to the gorgeous Dr Ethan Black. She can't stop thinking about him when suddenly fate intervenes and her path crosses his again. Harriet can't imagine a guy like Ethan being interested in someone like her, and that's fine by her; he makes Harriet feel uncomfortable which only brings back her childhood stammer. When they are thrown together for a few days in a snowy Manhattan, will the snow thaw slightly when love blossoms, or will Harriet keep to her vow of not dating...

Anyone who has read "Holiday in the Hamptons" will remember getting to know the twins Harriet and Fliss Knight - specifically Fliss - in that book. "Moonlight over Manhattan" is told from the perspective of Harriet, the shyer of the twins. You most definitely do not need to have read the Hampton's book prior to this. They can be read as standalone books, although it's nice to get to catch up with characters from books read a few years back. Sarah Morgan seems to have a lot of cross references between her characters and books, as through Ethan there's a link to the O'Neils at the Snow Crystal resort. Which makes reading her books feel like catching up with old friends.

This is such a lovely and heart warming book with endearing and like able characters. It is on the slushy fairy tale romance side of the spectrum, but Christmas is the time of year I prefer to read books that warm you up from the inside out, full of characters you instantly warm to.

I adored the story line and how Harriet was brave enough to step out of her comfort zone and put herself out there. As Sarah Morgan herself says "it's a story about pushing the boundaries. It's about courage, friendship and of course romance, all wagainst the snowy, sparkly backdrop of New York City". Just a perfect book to read in the run up to Christmas.

Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the opportunity to read this ARC, in return for an honest and unbiased review.

This is a lovely if not a little predictable, romantic easy and feel good read! Harriet, the shyer one of twins, decides to take on herself with a series of challenges, starting with Christmas alone with just her dog sitting business for company!

Enter the handsome and self assured Doctor Ethan who just happens to require the services of a dog sitter over the festive period..... and so slowly but surely, a beautiful relationship is born. There are ups and downs and some interesting characters along the way but the book ends with a somewhat predictable happy ending but I wouldnt have had it any other way.

This was a lovely read and I thank netgalley for the arc in return for my honest review.

This is my first by this author but it will not be the last . Brilliant heartwarming story that is very easy to read

When I started this book I thought it was a chick-lit of the Marion Keyes style, but find it almost a doctors and and nurses type romance. It is not a genre I appreciate but can see the style is easy and perfect fro those who enjoy these

I burnt the midnight oil to finish this story as I couldn't wait to see how it finished. This was a brilliant love story, so realistic and appealing. At the time I needed something to lift me and this story did that and more.. New beginnings and new lives, very appealing characters that brought the story to life.

In this sixth part of the ‘From Manhattan with Love’ series we are introduced to the love interest of Harriet. If you’ve been following the series you will know that she is one half of the Bark Rangers, a dog-walking service run by twin sisters Harriet and Fliss.

Fliss has decided to rekindle her romance with her ex-hubby, and she has also decided to move to The Hamptons. This means Harriet has to get used to doing things by herself. She decides to set herself challenges, to do things she wouldn’t normally have the courage to do.

During one of these challenges, which ends up not going to plan, she meets a handsome doctor. A few days later the two of them reconnect when he has difficulty taking care of a rather anxious dog.

Leaving aside the obvious love story this is also a tale about trust and feeling safe. Harriet has a lifetime of insecurities she has to deal with on a daily basis. The question is whether Ethan will make them worse or make her feel secure enough to overcome them.

We might need other people now and again, but every one of us needs to find our own inner strength to achieve our goals and find a wee bit of happiness in life.

In 2018 Sarah Morgan will be going in a slightly new direction, and taking all her readers with her, when she wanders into the more complex sub-genre of Women’s Fiction. I am looking forward to this step forwards for Morgan, because it is long overdue in my opinion. It’s time she got her teeth into something with a little more substance, to dig deeper and to shower readers with raw emotions, even the kind that don’t always leave you feeling happy and content.

This is a good modern romance set during a snowy Christmas in Manhattan. Harriet and her twin Fliss run a successful dog walking company in New York. Harriet is quite shy and used to stutter, she decides to take herself out of her comfort zone and do things she normally wouldn't. Internet dating turns out badly but she meets Ethan a Doctor in the local hospital and then again when he is looking after one of the dogs she walks. Her attraction to him is instant. Can she overcome her shyness to let him know? Read on.

Ignoring the fact that the first book I've read by this author was the last in the series - my own fault obviously - however, it won't be the last. Anyone that can write a character like Harriet, has my vote. I promise not to 'half-inch' her Sarah! And to go back and read the others in this series.

Moonlight over Manhattan
(From Manhattan with Love Book 6)
Author: Sarah Morgan
Publisher: HQ
Release date: 5th Oct 2017
Page count: 384pp

'Do one thing every day that scares you.' Eleanor Roosevelt.
These words from a noteworthy woman in history are words that have included the heroine of this, Moonlight over Manhattan, the sixth book in the Manhattan series.
When I first read Sarah Morgan, it was a series set in the U.K. with nurses and doctors (Lakeside Rescue) and I fell in love. I was gutted when she rolled up that series to start her next one; Snow Crystal series.
It won't be as good, I thought. I was wrong. It was better.
In fact, with every new series Morgan starts, she weaves intricate stories, characters and settings together, until the reader is once again - addicted.
In this continuing Manhattan series, ‘Moonlight over Manhattan’, Morgan deals with the ‘other’ twin Harriet, now living alone with numerous fostered pets after her sister Fliss finds love and moved permanently to The Hamptons, running the other half of their dog walking business. Their brother Daniel found love with Molly and is getting married - and Harriet is alone.
“Here lies Harriet, who knew a lot about hair balls, but not a whole lot about the other kind.”
Yep, she’s single, determined to try dating, which is not her forte, all a part of ‘Challenge Harriet’ or ‘Things Harriet Knight Wouldn’t Normally Do.’
Each day she sets a goal to try something new; which is why she sprains her ankle falling out of a bathroom window desperate to escape the date from hell.
She meets a dashing doctor at the ER who she can’t shake out of her head.
What she doesn’t expect is to meet that doctor again as part of a dog walking job.
Regular client Debra has had to fly off to take care of her daughter Karen who’s been involved in a car accident. The only problem, is what to do with her dog Madi?
The answer seems obvious - get her brother Ethan to look after the dog with Harriet on walking duties.
Ethan - a familiar face from the ER.
This is my favourite in the series so far I think.
Partly because starting with a brief reference to a book by gold medal winning skier Tyler O’Neil, that Morgan fans will recognise from another series and smile at, we get to find out more about those other characters.
Also, because Harriet literally blooms.
Bullied for most of her childhood, she hasn’t stammered in quite a few years until she’s shouted at by Ethan, but she is no timid wallflower despite being shy.
She has fight, courage and compassion.
I also loved the antics of the dogs in this one and enjoyed reading about them. The dogs are another set of characters in the books, just as alive as the humans.
The comedy, the emotion, the romance and the heartache is all here, as well as tonnes of Christmas warmth.
Another fantastic festive feast!
5/5

I didn't expect this to be the book to break through the funk I've been in recently, I was just conscious of the fact it was a CHRISTMAS story and Christmas was pretty close....
Nevertheless it was! Long may the break continue!

I read this book is a day and I really enjoyed it. I liked how it was written - not just because it was from both of their points of view, but because the characters were well established. We were given a decent amount of back story and fleshing out which isn't exactly something you'd expect from a romance novel. I've discovered this is book 6 of a series! And while I don't think I'd likely read all the others, there are at least 2, numbers 4 and 5, that connect to this one which I might consider reading too. I'd also like to read the one after this - if it's connected of course. I think I know the likely candidate too, but I'm not gonna share that.

I thought that Harriet and Ethan were good for each other - they complimented and enhanced each other without seeking to 'improve' the other. She brought him out of the Harsh-and-Arrogant-Doctor role he seemed hell bent on living and, once he took the time, he really understood her and was able to support and encourage her in her goals.
Misunderstandings didn't last long - though they were mostly his. Possibly because he was far more outspoken and was therefore more likely to put his foot in it.

What DID last long though was the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I, not being American, was pretty sure it was a month long gap but when you total up the weeks I'm pretty sure there's at least 6 weeks...
Of course this was and ARC so perhaps it was picked up but someone who read it on time...

It was a very quick romance for all it felt well paced. Luckily her last decision worked out really well, it has to be said, but she really didn't give him much of a chance. I can see her point, but really it was only 3 (or 6) weeks!
I would liked to have seen more of her with the godmother, a nice little chat about cooking or helping out in the kitchen or something and I'd also have liked us to see him meet her family, so I'm really hoping the next book is going to be connected!

There was no love triangle, pretty sure no jealousy, a tiny rift type thing and no terrible embarrassment so if they're things you stay clear of, this book is safe for you!

But the biggest question of all is; the heck did those kittens come from?!

I really wanted to like this book. I love Manhattan, I love Christmas. I've been to Manhattan at Christmas and absolutely loved it. So I saved this book for a Christmas read to snuggle up under the bedclothes and be transformed into a magical Christmas tale. It was not to be and the reality is I've tried several times to get into this book but have ended up skim reading the last three-quarters. The plot is fairly obviously from the start and there's little in the book to evoke the spirit of Manhattan or Christmas. It's very clichéd with the word 'sexy' appearing incessantly in relation to a doctor. It read like some of my friends used to talk when teenagers and I didn't like it then!

With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin UK for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm just sorry it isn't more positive - I will try and be more discerning about requests in the future but I did get attracted to this one because of the Christmas theme.
