These recipes are probably fabulous, but once again this book falls to a boring layout. It is probably my digital galley, but there is really nothing in there helping me say great things. There is a bit of color, and a few pictures. But the overall layout has me yawning.

I have a serious cookie addiction. Is there anything better than a buttery, soft, sweet, chewy cookie to brighten up you day? Every year for the holidays I bake cookies and share them with my coworkers, friends, and family. We’re not just talking a batch or two of chocolate chip here. Last year I made 8 different kinds of cookies and more than one batch of 4 of those. Now that you understand how important cookies are to me… you might be able to guess that I am in love with this book. I have been a follower of Sally’s blog (Sallysbakingaddiction.com) for several years now and she had never steered me wrong. This book has the following chapters: Family Favorites, All About Oats, Happy Holidays, Shortbread and Slice-and-Bakes Galore, The Sprinkle Chapter, Nuts About Nuts, Serious Chocolate Cravings, and Find Your Flavor. The book contains 75 cookie recipes plus tips, tricks, and advice from Sally to make your cookies the best. The recipes range from chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin to Cranberry Spice Rugelach and Jude & Franklin’s Favorite Dog Biscuits. The recipes are easy to read and accompanied by gorgeous photos. Most of the recipes use ingredients that an accomplished home baker will keep on hand or can be found in your local grocery store. There isn’t anything too complicated about the recipes because Sally has taken all of the guess work out of making your cookies perfect by providing her tips and tricks. I am looking forward to making every cookie in this book. You can bet those Cranberry Spice Rugelach will be in my holiday cookie giveaway boxes this year!
Thank you to NetGalley and Race Point Publishing for an ARC of this book. I have voluntarily provided an honest review.

This cookie book is a one of a kind. The best kind. It has so much variety in cookie receipes, where do you start. Has to be the Snickerdoodles. Try this receipe. Seriously. I can't wait to get baking. There is so much info about baking, preparing, freezing, etc. it's really amazing that you can bake a doyble batch and freeze half, so you will always have home baked cookies on hand. Sally has put so much info into this book, that I am pretty sure that this will be the only book for cookie baking I will ever use again.

As a long time fan of Sally's blog I was predisposed to like this book, and I did. The majority of the recipes are well tested basics, though there are some slightly more sophisticated recipes like that for Chai Spice Shortbread. Sally's recipes are clearly written and well suited to beginners, so this book would be a great gift or library check out for those who are just starting out in baking. More advanced bakers might find it a little lacking, though there are recipes like Fairy Macaroons that are more advanced, and creative and fun recipes like Pinata Cookie Surprises.

I am as much of a cookie addict as the author, and this book provides a variety of recipes as well as explains tips for making the dough either bake crispy or soft and chewy depending on your preference.

As a huge fan of both Sally's baking addiction and cookies in general, I was especially excited about this book. The thing I like about Sally is how easy, clear and concise she makes all instructions. She adds a little something extra in how beautiful the photos are and the tips are top notch. Especially the "Sally Says" star tips. This is the kind of recipe book that gets purchased for my cook book library and as a gift.

Just like with her other books, Sally has made delicious cookie making achievable for the regular ol' home baker. Sally's approach is not overly fussy and does not call for unusual ingredients. A photo accompanied each recipe, which I thoroughly appreciated. I like seeing how the finished product should look. The pictures also make it easy to decide which recipe I'm gonna try first. I was intrigued by the brown butter toffee chocolate chip cookies as the recipe required both browning and creaming of the butter. This might seem like too much work, but trust me, the combo was so yummy. I normally like more cake-like chocolate chip cookies, but these cookies were the perfect mix of slightly crispy at the edge and chewy everywhere else. The browned butter really deepened the flavor. My friends and family were definitely fans! I can't want to try out more of the recipes.

I just finished reading through Sally’s Cookie Addiction, and let me tell you, I am HUNGRY now! I don’t buy a lot of cookbooks, but I’ve already ordered the hardcover copy of Sally’s Cookie Addiction to display in my kitchen. It’s very rare that I want to make every single recipe in a cookbook—usually I find a couple—but I want to make every single recipe in this cookbook! It’s that good.

So what’s awesome about Sally’s Cookie Addiction?

First off, the tips and tricks. Before Sally dives into recipes, she provides ten tips and tricks for cookie baking success. I have to hang my head on this one. Do I use extra-large eggs in place of large eggs? Yes! Oops. Do I chill my dough? No. Do I ensure ingredients are at their freshest? No. And do I ensure my butter is at room temperature? No—guilty again. No wonder my cookies always turn out okay but never fall into the realm of fantastic. That’s it! I’m turning over a new leaf. The next time I bake cookies, I’m going to follow Sally’s advice!

The recipes. Sally has it all! From shortbread to traditional chocolate chip to everything in between. She makes the recipes simple to follow, which I appreciate. I also like that she explains her reasoning for doing certain things. Why does she add extra flour to a recipe? Hang tight—she’ll tell you! She also has an entire chapter dedicated to cookies with sprinkles, so my daughter is going to be in sprinkle heaven.

The pictures. I love food, therefore I love looking at pictures of good food. The pictures highlight the awesomeness of the cookies. Looking at the pictures makes you want to head to the kitchen to start baking.

The presentation. I love the overall presentation of this cookbook. Reading through it feels like having a conversation with a close friend. Sally is a delight, and I wish she was my friend (for selfish reasons, of course, the girl can bake!)

So if you enjoy baking, check out this cookbook. Also, feel free to send me any and all samples of cookies you make.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing the PDF version of this cookbook in exchange for an honest review. I loved it so much that my hardbound copy is ordered and on its way!

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of Sally's Cookie Addiction by Sally McKenney that I used and reviewed.
What can I say? I can't cook but I love too bake and I adored this book. It had recipes from frosting to cookies to bars and everything in between and I loved trying old favorites and new ones just for fun. The pictures were bright and colorful even on the Kindle edition and the book was even a joy to use in that format which was a surprise for me. I loved it. A great cookie book with so much more that would be a great gift or something to buy for your own use.
I am definitely giving Sally's Cookie Addiction five out of five

A good collection of cookies to tempt those who want to go a little bit further than the basic chocolate chip. As one who loves to bake cookies for my friends, I wanted to try several of these recipes. I noted a few of the recipes down and will be trying them in the coming months. I did appreciate her hints on chilling dough (something I do already) and to not substitute ingredients. A good book for those wanting to expand their cookie repertoire.

Due to the file I was able to access, I couldn't see the photos, so I can't speak to the quality of them.

An avid user of Sally's website, it is no surprise to me that this book is a winner. Whether you want to make oatmeal cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, holiday cookies, or shortbread there are recipes catered to a variety of palettes. The options are far ranging. Sally explains each step with a clarity that inspires an easy, well justified confidence. This is THE cookie cookbook.

This is an amazingly extensive book of cookies, full of great hints, tips, advice and enthusiasm. You certainly do not need to be a confident or experienced baker to make anything from this book.
The recipes are well set out with grams as well as cup measurements. A handy photo for each and every cookie. The instructions are simple to follow with a handy tip at the end of each.
There is a recipe in this book for every occasion and everyone ,including the dog and some surprising ingredients, potato crisps for example.
The only problem I have found with this book is which cookie to make first!

I'm trying to be good and not give in to my cookie cravings -- and then a book like this comes along and I could eat every page! I love what Sally has done withy old favorites, giving them little tweaks to make them so much better. I love the ideas bursting out of the book.

I'm ready to bake them all (even the ones with pink frosting and multi-colored sprinkles).
