Very cute book and easy to follow but the doodles was too simple, not interesting enough for me to draw it.

I received Catdoodles by Akiko Masuda from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Coloring stress me out and my drawing skills are on par with a two-year old. But I want to draw and color. Also, I'm a total cat lady. Catdoodles is the book I've been needing. A tiny bit of instruction is all that's needed to show anyone how to start making their own cats and there are plenty in the book to color in and decorate. The prompts are already started so you can jump in without having to plan but there's plenty of room for creativity.

Draw like an artist and have fun with this great little book for cat lovers of all ages. Draw your way to inner peace and for mindfulness. Simple, but addictive drawing activities which bring out the inner child.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher who provided me with this ARC. I chose to read it and give a voluntary and unbiased review.

Catdoodles is a ridiculously adorable cat drawing book. I like that it doesn’t leave you hanging—it shows you how to draw a cat and gives you clear directions for how you should fill each page. That said, it doesn’t stifle creativity. While it certainly gives directions for those who need them, the book tells you that anything goes. Draw the cats how you’d like! Black and white, color, polka dots—everything is okay! Anyone can draw a cat, as long as you remember the pointy ears.

This book would be good for kids through adults. Whether you’re a drawing enthusiast or completely intimidated by the idea of drawing, this drawing book is for you!

Thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for providing the PDF version of this drawing book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a book of colouring and doodling cats. If you like cats its both kawaii, adorable and calming.
If you don't like cats it is a nightmare of biblical proportions as an army of blank eyed felines stare through your soul from each page. Every colorful whiskered monster is seconds from leaping off the page ready to tear into your flesh with tiny claws and a blood-soaked smile on their face.
The more you look at it, the more terrifying it becomes as each page seems to have more and more cats coming out at you like a plague swarm, screaming as they are twisted into cat-bees, cat-donuts and, a horrifyingly cat-headed icecream cone- like the creators of Saw have a kitten fetish and a ton of crazy glue.
All of this in screaming neon Technicolor, a horror film of feline proportions.
But if you like cats and doodling this is definitely one for you.

Catdoodles is exactly what is says: doodles about cats.

The author starts with pointing out some tips and tricks for doodling cats and then you can start drawing your own creations. There are lots of pages filled with cat doodles that you can finish, or you can start doodling on a blank page. So, basically, it's more of a DIY book than one with lots of tutorials or examples. It is fun though to just start and not worry about messing up or making a complex doodle. It's cats all the way, whether they are black/white, colored, pencil, marker... It's up to you to fill the pages whichever way you prefer.

If you don't expect too much from it, then this is the perfect book for doodling cats and putting your mind at ease, since doodling is very relaxing.

I have quite a few colouring books for adults, and some books about learning how to do small doodles. Therefore I got quite exited when asked to review this book. Unfortunately my excitement stoped there. The drawing look like they were drawn by a child, and it lacked directions on how to doodle them. There was a page in the beginning on how to draw the simple cat, and no more than that. I hoped the book could have showed some more advanced cats as well.

As for the colouring part of the book, the black and white pages were nice. I could see my self doodling on those pages. But the overall feel of the book was ruined by the pages which were printed in colour. Over all I would rater have a colouring book with a more adult finish, or a doodling book which actually comes with directions on how to doodle.

This book is cute. That's the good. The bad is that I am not sure who the audience for this book is. There are a few simple instruction pages. Nothing about those directions is unique. One of the pages exists just to tell you that you can use a three color pen if you'd like. The tips page has only four tips and one of those is that if you draw the cats close together then you will be able to fit more cats on the page. If you don't really draw (like me) but like to try, then you probably already make cats at least as good as these. The rest of the book is just pages with various amounts of cat doodles and room for you to add you own.

It's not really a book on drawing and it's not really a sketchbook. Generally I appreciate dumbed down, simple art instruction books, but this one is just too simple, even for young kids.

I just don't see the point of the book, adorable or not.

Very cute book. Highly recommend for cat lovers. I am more of a dog person personally but still appreciated this book, though. I can now draw a cat pretty well.

This book is a joyous invitation to have fun with paper, ink, and your imagination. It is delightfully unintimidating and takes you from a cat's ears to mountains of kitties. Nothing too fussy and it reminded me of the joy of doodling with no pressure to produce anything. Since I like to give handmade gifts, this book has more practical value for me too, but it just inspired a lot of fun and I really appreciate that.

This book is exactly what it sounds like. It is a guide and a workbook on doodling cats. Most of it is space to let the readers pen roam free, but there are some simple instruction/ideas in the front. They stress the stress reducing power of doodling, while reminding the reader that doodles don’t have to be perfect. They don’t even have to be pretty. They just have to make you happy.

As I was unable to open the file for this book on my laptop or kindle, I can only say that I loved the pictures. I would have really enjoyed being able to doodle in it myself.

This book is beautiful, with many types of cats drawn and tips on how to create them yourself too.
Each page is full of colourful cats which all vary showing the versatility on how to create your own types of cats. From doodles, to rainbow cats covering the page, this book shows you them all.

The book is suitable for any age and any capability of drawing talent from young children to adults, these cats are all simple doodles and we can all manage a cat doodle with this book if you're unsure how to!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

On the surface, it is like another adult coloring/ doodling book, just with cats, bunch of cats. So if you are allergic to cat doodles, you wont find happiness within the pages of this book. Each page has B&W or colored doodles arranged in different ways and sizes, plus some blank space for you to draw whatever you want (but preferably cats, for extra soothing results), just like in the picture of the cover. It also contains instructions about how to use the book and step by step tutorial on how to draw cute doodle cats, useful if you tend to feel lost without instructions.

I think this book is superior than those fascinating coloring books (showing smooth lines and intricate patterns) when it comes to actually relax and put your mind at rest. If your main focus is to create a piece of art to display or feel proud of, this is not the book. After trying a couple of pages I realized that, first of all: I started right away without fearing I might screw up some beautiful artwork. The doodles look like something made by a kid, with crooked lines and minimal detail. So, for those over critical, self-sabotaging, perfectionist people like me who wont feel at peace until their drawing/coloring looks as good as the one from the book (or at least good enough to make the original artwork some justice) you wont have those issues with this book. Secondly, probably because, once again, everything looks like a kid's drawing, I felt like it was a safe environment where I was allowed to be silly, childish, cute and make mistakes without feeling out of place or judgmental. For some reason (that I bet psychologists know well), this combination of childish drawings, pastel colors, pre-filled pages (no blank page syndrome), and cats did exactly what these types of books are supposed to do: relax and quiet my brain.
FYI: you can actually doodle on your eARC as I did, if you use Bluefire reader on a tablet with a stylus.

I really love this book, so many cats in so many ways, making patterns on there one or just one cat in a frame. How many way can you draw a cat, how many cats can you fit into a pattern. Change a cat and you have your own search game to find the different cat. I simply love the heart pattern the cats create. Excellent book to just wind down and just doodle - with cats.

A fun new art how-to book from Akiko Masudo and Quarto Publishing Group.
The drawings and inspiration pages are really cute and basic and the tutorial step-by-step illustrations are so easy anyone can do them.

I liked the fact that the author/illustrator showed her own off the cuff versions of cat doodles which are spontaneous and energetic and not polished. When I was reading this book, I was thinking 'hey, I can do that'!

It's a very short book (64 pages, according to Amazon), and every page is full of different layouts with, of course, cats in all shapes and sizes and colors. There are pages of cats in frames, like a gallery, cats in trees, houses and comic layout cats and many others. There are pages to finish yourself and pages of tutorials.

The book is very fun and would appeal to younger artists as well as adults who need some inspiration to get through those 'meetings which really should've been an email' :)

Three and a half stars

Catdoodles by Akiko Masuda is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in late September.

Matsuda encourages readers/sketchers/doodlers to draw their own cats (as many as you want; piles of them, if need be) wherever there's a blank space to be found in this book. I think what's the most pleasing and inviting about this concept is that, not only are the many, many colors of this book look to be made in either crayon or colored pencil, but there's no inked edges or line boundaries to color within.
