I will be honest and admit I have never been a huge fan of choose your own adventure. When two choices for a character lay before me I have a hard time knowing which choice will lead me to the ending I want. It's taken me a while, but I finally understand that is the whole point. A book that can be different each time you read it? That's pretty much the dream. My Lady's Choosing isn't just a regency era romance book (it definitely is that as well), but it's also a book full of possibility. You are the main character, you make the choices, and you choose what the right course is, so your happily ever after is all in your hands.

My lady's choosing is a splendid mix of comedy and romance.
Working a new twist on an old concept and being incredibly tongue in cheek about it too boot!
Fans of the historical romance genre will get a kick out of the many tropes on offer in this book.
I had a ball rummaging through the pages to find out what happened in the next part of my hilarious journey.
Where did I end up first you ask?
Happy and in the highlands of course. 😉

Thank you to @netgalley and @quirkbooks for letting me have a chance to read and review this book.

Creative, fun, and steamy. For all those kids who grew up reading choose your own adventure novels, only to be hemmed in by choice-less books as they grew up. I loved my adventure through the highlands, and look forward to buying a paper copy when it comes out. That way I can experience London, Egypt, and espionage, all while holding my last choice with my fingers, so I can go back and choose again!

Interactive bodice ripper. That was all that was needed to sell me on this book, to be honest, and it is definitely worth it. Anyone who has read a decent amount of Gothic and romantic literature will spot the tropes, not to mention recognise where the heroes of this story came from. A fun way to spend a few hours and the best part is, there's so many ways you can go with it, so rereading is more than worthwhile.

This is such a fun book! I loved the author's riff on historical romances and the choose your own adventure part was so much fun! I received it as an advanced copy via a protected PDF, and I do think having the physical copy would make the experience even more fun. This would be a great gift for the romance reader in your life!

I normally don't read romance books, but the idea of a choose your own book with a Jane austen flair was intriguing. It was fun and witty. My only issue is that I'd like more options and like many choose your one books once I read the path I chose I didn't feel like looking at the others. But I'd recommend it if you want a fresh take on the romance genre.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy for an honest review.

A Regency take on the ‘choose your own adventure’ type book, this book places the reader as the leading lady in a story involving Regency ballrooms, espionage, and trips to the Scottish Highlands, or perhaps Egypt depending on which way you choose to take the story.
Essentially, the plot begins in a ballroom and you have to choose between becoming a governess to a Lord, becoming a companion to Lady Evangeline on her travels, or becoming a teacher to a group of orphans at an institution run by a mysterious Scotsman. Depending on your choice, the story will take you on an adventure (in my case, to the Highlands), and the story reaches pivotal points where you need to choose what you, as the heroine of the book, do next. There are plenty of opportunities to change your mind as the story tries to turn you away from your chosen path by making you mistrust the characters you are on your journey with, and there’s always the option to leave behind your choice and take that trip to Egypt after all.
Light-hearted, something different, and a bit of fun, this book is good for whiling away an hour or so, and the good thing is, when you get to the end, you can always start again and make a different choice. Indeed, it’s probably worth starting again, just to see if you missed a more exciting adventure if you’d made a different choice earlier on.
As an e-book, the PDF version worked fine, allowing you to jump to the appropriate page easily by selecting the appropriate option at the bottom of the page.

Received an electronic ARC through NetGalley. I am not generally a romance reader, but I couldn’t resist the novelty of choosing the adventure. This will not be mistaken for great literature, but it was fun.

This was so delightful! To no one's surprise, I was tempted by the mysterious man and ended up with the charming lesbian, which is also the plot of my real life. It's clever and self-aware, and I'll have fun going back and exploring the other options!

This is such a great concept! I loved the various characters and all the twists this book can take. After working through the story two different ways, I skimmed some of the other chapters and was amazed with how many directions this book is able to take. It is well done and silly. You cannot take this book too seriously as a romance, but it is so much fun!

Why aren't there more books like My Lady's Choosing?
And, what I mean by that?
Interactive novels, where you are the heroine and choose your own path among sometimes hard options, dealing with action, sexy potential romantic interests and a lot of suspense to see where your next move will take you.

I decided to write my review after the very first adventure I went on, because I was very impressed by this book, but I definitely know that it can offer whole evenings full of endless adventures and steamy interactions.

In fact, the very first adventure I embarked on included a sexy Scots man, whose motives and actions weren't always clear, a lot of intrigue with dangerous and tricky (and very, very hard) options available (I honestly still wonder how I made it out of all this alive AND with a happy ending), intelligent dialogues, a big mystery and a lot of action.

You might wonder how it is possible for a single path of this book to end up being so full of adventure that kept me glued to it until the (happy, thankfully, in my case) end.
And, this is exactly the magic of this book.
When you first open it, read the introduction and meet the characters you never imagine the completely unexpected plot twists appearing before you, as well as the big journey you have just embarked on.

If you love interactive novels, this one won't disappoint you. On the contrary, it will prove to be a totally amazing experience.
If you haven't tried interactive novels before, or even if you do not usually enjoy them, I can assure you that this book is so full of story and intrigue and the fact that you can decide what you want your heroine to be, from a witty and intelligent woman to an adventure-seeking person travelling in the wildest places with the wildest people, will surely blow you away.

All in all, 5 stars because this was amazing and I want to wrap up the review because I can't get early enough back to this novel, explore all the possible options and head on new and exciting adventures.

3.5 stars for this interactive romance.

I was intrigued by the fact that this is a book where you choose your own romantic adventure. Despite not being a reader of many romantic novels, on the whole I enjoyed this book because of its great humour. My Lady's Choosing is funny - it is arch, knowing, ironic and gleeful, and it is a fun-filled pastiche of literary creations and writers such as Austen's Mr Darcy and Lord Byron. I have not read all of the options in the book but I can vouch for the Darcy-esque story as being good fun and not too explicit until the very end of the story. Personally, I am not a fan of sex scenes in books (to me, it is similar to watching an old horror movie but then they spoil it all by showing you the monster/vampire/zombie and it is ridiculously unbelievable and twee. Allusion can be far more effective than show and tell). Perhaps any follow-up books could give readers the additional option of whether they want to choose explicit scenes or not?

I received this ebook free from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I think I read nearly all the storylines in this, so I'm going to call it read.

This was a funny choose-your-own-adventure book set back in time. There are multiple very different adventures "you" can go on in this book, some that you won't see coming! It had portions of graphic sex acts, as well as so many cheeky humorous parts. I do recommend that this be read as a physical copy, as maneuvering through the ebook was not too easy.

Original, fun, and romantic, My Lady's Choosing is the perfect read for when you don't want to work for the fun, but instea let it sweep you away on your very own adventure.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

3.25 Stars

4 Stars - Concept
2.75-3 Stars - Execution

An fun and original idea for grown-ups, this novel is an interactive historical romance. I love the concept, where the reader chooses the next course the characters take, and it is lots of silly fun. There is some depth that's missing and the romance lacks steamy sizzle, but overall this work would be a good gift idea.

This book is the most silly fun I've had in a long time. I'm not sure it would be great for fans who take their romance very seriously, but anyone who doesn't mind having the ridiculousness of many romance tropes pointed out to them will really enjoy the ride. I'm all for more choose-your-own path books-- it's nice to have a love triangle you get to control for once! I'm going to have to go back and choose a different character next time!

I thought it was bit fun, and i loved the comic style - probably something i wouldn't stock all year round, but could be a fun one for valentines day?

Full disclosure: I was trying to read this on my phone as an ARC, so it could have partially been the medium, but I just couldn't get into this. The characters seemed flat and I didn't really want to have a relationship with any of them. Also, there were several times where "I" felt some emotion that I wasn't feeling...I wasn't "annoyed," "intrigued" or whatever. Might be better as an actual book, but I will probably not be going back to this.

I have very fond memories of reading choose your own adventure books when I was a kid, so I was very excited to try out a grown up version. My Lady's Choosing did not disappoint. As the heroine of the story, I had many important choices to make - because it is a romance, many of these decisions were of a more intimate nature. I liked that there was a balance between story and romance. There was always a non-sexual choice that could be made, which let the reader choose how clean the story would be.
I read three storylines through to the end. I have not gone back and made different choices to see how my story would change, yet. My Lady's Choosing lived up to my fond memories of juvenile choose your own adventure books. I would definitely read more by the authors.

Yes, this is a choose your own adventure romance novel! I don't read a lot of romance, but I couldn't resist this premise, at least once I heard that there was a path where you could turn your back on the suitors and run off with a lady instead! This was, above all, super fun. It's Jane Austen-ish, so if you're a fan of riffs on Austen, this is well worth picking up (though I'm not an Austen fan and I still loved it.)

I fully expected to find the F/F option and only read that storyline (see the ladies in the bottom right corner of the cover?), but I ended up enjoying it enough that I followed almost every path. Depending on which choices you make, you end up in very different situations and genres, including a Gothic Jane Eyre-esque plot line, or more of a Pride and Prejudice angle.

When I was first making my way through the book, I actually hesitated before pursuing the lady love interest. It just didn't feel like the way this romance novel would go! It's one this to choose between (basically) Mr Darcy and Mr Rochester, but running off with your female friend seems unfathomable. But that's the whole point! Imagine reading a M/F romance novel: you're plodding along, all the love interests have been introduced, and your friend (whom you clearly have more chemistry with than the dudes) throws out that, hey, if you want, you can travel to Egypt with her instead. You reach that point in the book and sigh. Image if she had taken her up on that! Imagine if instead of heading to the drafty castle or trading quips with the asshole rich guy, you just skipped town and went on an Egyptian adventure instead! Only this time, you can!

I kind of was expecting the F/F storyline to be an easter egg that you would have to seek out, but it's pretty obvious. In fact, the chemistry between you and your friend seems more palpable earlier in the narrative than with any of the men. It's also interesting because while most of the paths you can take are versions of famous romances in literature, the Egyptian storyline is completely different. Search for an artifact stolen from an Egyptian museum, and encounter your lady love interest's angry ex-girlfriend! Maybe end up in a lesbian, pirate gang! (Yes, you can do that. Definitely try to get to that point.)

One of the fun things is that because this is a romance novel, you can't really lose. Romance conventions dictate that you have a happy ending, so it's interesting to see how you can get away with a happy ending no matter what you do. I highly recommend backtracking and following a few different paths, just to see how different they are. I loved this bisexual, choose your own adventure, historical, satirical romance novel. It was a joy to read, even when it was M/F!

What an amazing idea! A choose-your-own-adventure romance novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It's really not about the story line in this case (though that was a lot of fun too), but rather it's about making the story your own. Brilliant fun that I enjoyed for hours on end. I picked it up quite a few times to find another story 'route' and I encourage you to do the same!
