A solid page turner with some interesting moral issues for the reader to ponder & a couple of good twists. Great teen appeal.

This book shows just how easy it is for lies and deceit to take over our lives and the mess it can cause. Sasha' s love for Xavier drove her to be deceitful and make a fake account to trap Ivy. It all spirals out of control. This book shows how social media can be abused and how it can hurt people. Think carefully what you put on social media and how you interact with people. A good story which tackles morals and teenage issues head on.

Sasha’s best friend is Xavier and when his Ex Ivy wants nothing more than to become his girlfriend again Sasha will stop at nothing to protect her friend from the manipulating, heart ripping woman that had he had spent the past few months getting over, or at least trying to, the woman had broken him and as his best friend Sasha didn’t want this to happen again. However Sasha has a secret of her own leading her to stop at nothing until Xavier knows the truth about Ivy’s true intentions. What happens when you pose as a boy online to lure out your best friend’s girlfriend? Something very deadly that will change both Sasha and Xavier’s lives forever.
This book is not your typical YA thriller it has a little twist at the end that you may or may not see coming, I didn’t. YA thrillers to me have often been a lot different than Adult Thrillers whom have lots of twists and turns but with YA I find them predictable but this was pretty good and kept me reading and on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what will happen next. I finished the book in two sittings, I found the characters were interesting to read about given they had some depth to them so they weren’t flat and boring.
Over all this book is a good and interesting read and I’d read more from this author

Bad Girls' With Perfect Faces by Lynn Weingarten was a dark, twisted tale of friendship, jealousy and misunderstanding. This is a Young Adult novel with a few twists and turns. Some people's addiction to Social Media play a big part in this story. It was a very interesting read.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Egmont Publishing for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent mystery and great writing made this take a fun, sometimes dark, read that I was sneaking in times to read at work because I was so hooked. Five stars!

I loved this, it kept me guessing throughout the whole book. The ending was so unexpected. I love mystery books, and this is a great one.

Wow!! This book had me gripped from the very first page until the very last. It’s dark and twisted but oh so good and not at all what I was expecting.
Before I start this review properly I should probably confess that I mixed up the blurb for this book with the blurb for another and found myself a tad confused about what I was reading. Despite this, there was something about it that drew me in instantly and I was completely hooked before I realized what I’d done. So hooked in fact that I ended up reading the whole thing without ever going back and reading the synopsis, something that probably worked in my favor as the less you know about it the better.
For that reason I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on the storyline. What I will say is that this is a very dark and twisted story that questions just how far you’d go for someone you love, what you’d do to protect them and just what you’d be willing to forgive. It begins very much like your usual YA contemporary with a girl, Sasha, in love with her best friend, Xavier, but too scared to tell him how she feels. When his ex Ivy reappears in his life and starts trying to rekindle things Sasha resorts to a bit of catfishing to prove to Xavier what Ivy’s really like but things don’t exactly go to plan.
The story is pretty fast paced with more than a few surprises and I found it a lot more gripping than I could have imagined. It was one of those books I couldn’t resist reading at every possible opportunity, and if I wasn’t reading it I was either thinking about it or talking about it. The author’s writing style is perfect for me, it just drew me in completely and didn’t let go. I’d previously read and loved Suicide Notes for Beautiful Girls but I think this may actually be better.
The story is told from three main points of view, Sasha’s, Xavier’s and a mystery person’s and the author does a brilliant job of keeping each of these very distinct and different. Even though a big proportion of the book is from Xavier’s point of view though it feels like this story is all about the girls, with Xavier a pawn for them to play with. He’s sweet and kind and a bit fragile, making him no match for the girls. He was probably the only character I kind of liked but still found myself becoming frustrated with how weak he was. I just wanted him to act, to stand up for himself and get free of this toxic relationship with Ivy.
As for Sasha, I wouldn’t say she was necessarily that likeable or even very relatable but there was something about her that fascinated me from the very beginning. She’s very much a loner, left to fend for herself by her mother and with no real friends other than Xavier. She’s completely fearless in some ways, she’ll walk into a party or a club alone and just pick someone up for a one night stand, but you can’t help but wonder how much is an act. Xavier is the only person she really cares about and she loves him fiercely and possessively. Her actions at times were a mystery to me, not because they didn’t make sense but because they were so completely alien to me.
There aren’t many other characters in the story and those that do appear only do so briefly but still manage to make an impression. I loved that the author kept it so simple in this respect as it kept the focus very much on the relationships between Sasha, Xavier and Ivy.
It is a surprisingly dark and disturbing story and I feel like I should add a little bit of a warning that it’s probably more one for older YAs. There is underage drinking, sex, drugs and other things that I won’t go into as they’re spoilery and this isn’t a book you want to know too much about.
Overall though I thought this was an incredible read and is one I’d definitely recommend to anyone who likes a good thriller.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This has not affected my review.

Wow, I'm not even sure where to start with this review. Bad Girls with Perfect Faces is probably one of my favourite books of this year - I read a lot too! If you have ever read any of Lynn's (Author) work you'll know there is a standard, a formula to her work and often when you think you'll be getting isn't even close to what to end up with. This book is no different. I don't like to compare but I gelt as unhinged if not more so than I did with Lynn's Wherever Nina Lies (Another great book, if you haven't read it give it a go).
I don't like to delve into the plot too much with this type of thing. I don't do spoilers EVER in my reviews, so I will say this story is told mostly from Sacha and Xavier's points of view although towards the end you also get more. The pace at first I felt was slow, but soon builds to a nice warmth than eventually is burning so hot you'll wonder if you can keep hold of it. There is romance, unrequited love, mystery, horror, comedy, revenge and its all tied up in a neat little bow,
I started this book a couple of weeks ago and read a chapter. I was in a reading funk and put it back down again (I just couldn't read any books at all). Until today where I picked up Bad Girls with Perfect Faces are didn't put it down. This was read non stop... toilet breaks (TMI?), making dinner (Not at same time as toilet breaks), tea runs, doing the recycling (I can multi task!), I literally had my kindle stuffed under my nose and did not stop.
There is some mature elements in this book (Drinking, drugs, pills, sex) and it also covers a lot of subject matters relationships, sexuality, mental health, self sabotage.... Due to the mature content I would say old teens and up but would add that this isn't so juvenile that an adult will not enjoy it. I'm 41 and thought it was an excellent piece of work. I loved the twists and turns in this and things happened I just wasn't expecting. Will this end how you think? Probably not. IS there a HEA? I don't want to tell you. I will say I give this book a solid 4 stars if not 4.5 and think you should give it a go!
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The plot is gripping and he characters, whilst not likeable, are compelling.

This is an advanced copy from Netgalley and honestly I couldn’t remember what it was going to be about at all because it had been so long since I’d requested it. So the book follows two characters mainly, Sasha and Xavier, with occasional POV from an unknown character whose identity is revealed at the end of the book.
I’ll tell you now, this was an emotional rollercoaster and really kept me guessing - nothing is as it seems in this book. It’s a murder mystery...kind of. Sasha is Xavier’s best friend, she’s also in love with him. Xavier is hung up on his ex, Ivy. Sasha knows that Ivy is no good for Xavier and sets out to prove it by catfishing her into thinking she’s talking to a hot guy called Jake. It all goes a bit wrong when Ivy turns up dead with Xavier looking like the culprit. Sasha has to decide how far she would go to protect those she loves.
Okay, so now you know the general plot, there are TWO plot twists. One of which I guessed towards the last few chapters but both were still brilliant. The narratives were brilliantly done and so engaging - I find it hard to read on the train at times but this was easy. If you liked ‘One of Us is Lying’ you’ll love this too.
I love how complex this book was and how unique the narrative was. The characters were all likeable and I think the way the novel explored the lengths to which we go for those we love was really exceptional.
Definitely worth a read!

This was a struggle for me. Until the first twist happened I wasn't really invested.
My dislike for all the main characters also ruined my enjoyed for this.

I was intrigued by the cover of this book - it's very reminiscent of some adult thrillers and made me very hopeful for the contents! At some points I was properly shouting at the characters for the decisions they were making. This is a really great young adult thriller (a rare beast) full of twists and turns and flawed but likeable characters. My only criticism is that the first half drags on a little, while the second half (where all the action is) didn't seem long enough.

I thoroughly enjoyed this and could not put it down; it was one of those 'one more chapter' books. The characters were interesting and the relationships weren't pushed. They felt genuine. The overriding tension in the story was addictive and the visual imagery was excellent (that place in the woods- I felt like I could see it). I loved the ending.
Light and gripping!

Sasha's best friend is Xavier. And Xavier's ex-girlfriend is Ivy. But Ivy is now seeking to remove the 'ex' from that statement, despite her frequent emotional manipulation, disappearances, and cheating, when they were previously together. But not if Sasha can help it. Because she will do anything to protect her best friend from harm. Anything at all.
This started out as a rather cliched and predictable young adult contemporary. The writing was sublimely beautiful and gripped me from the very first, perfectly formed sentence, but the plot was, initially, a little lack-lustre. I was convinced I knew the direction the story was going and, perhaps if not so enamoured with the writing, would have disregarded this entirely.
But this is where this novel so cleverly grasps you in its clutches. For, it seemed, in the turn of a page and a subtle redirection from the author, this novel became something else to what it immediately appeared. Something I was completely unprepared for.
I won't say what exactly occurs, to allow the permeation of darkness to sweep over the contemporary elements of this novel, as the excitement lies entirely in the surprise. From about a third of the way in, I was intoxicated with everything about this novel and devoured in it one breathless and sleep-deprived sitting.
This is the thriller novel at its best and at its darkest. This is also a novel that deals with so many contemporary problems - from gender stereotypes, online relationships, sexuality, mental health... I could go on. Multi-layered, complex, immersive, and completely engaging, this is one not to be overlooked.

According to Sasha no one is ever going to be good enough for her best friend Xavier.Sasha would do anything to stop Xavier from getting hurt, especially by his cheating ex Ivy who has suddenly reappeared back in the picture.Worried that Xavier is ready to forgive and forget,Sasha decides to do a little catfishing. She poses as a hot guy online,to prove cheaters never change.
But Sasha`s plan goes wrong fast, and soon the lies lead down a path from which there is no return.
Told in chapters that alternate between Sasha and Xavier and also including italicized chapters that are voiced by a unknown person this is a dark tale that is split into two parts. The reader spends most of the first part getting to know the players in this twist packed drama. You know something bad is going to happen, you have a good idea who it's going to happen too,you just don't know what is going to happen and who is involved. Then the event occurs and Sasha`s life falls apart completely. The second part is packed full of tension, twists and unexpected revelations that took me by surprise. The characters were well developed, realistic and believable, all of them had hidden secrets, complex behavioural issues and not one of the characters had any likeable qualities.
I don't normally read young adult titles but the blurb for this one grabbed my attention and I'm really glad I requested this book.I was hooked from the gripping prologue right through to the unexpected ending,I changed my mind a number of times about who was voicing the italicized parts.I loved the tree branch illustrations at the start of the chapters. It's a well written, dark, gripping tale of young love, obsession, friendships, mind games, mental illness, control, misinterpretation and the fear and confusion our emotions cause us to feel when we are in the limbo years between being a teenager and a adult.I thought it was a very very good book and I would happily read more books by this author in the future.

I was a huge fan of Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls so when invited to advance read the new novel from Lynn Weingarten, I didn't hesitate. Nor did I put in in the queue just dove straight in. For all the right reasons it turns out..
Like Suicide Notes this is a story featuring young adults but with a very adult theme - Sasha will do anything to protect best friend Xavier, caught up in an unhealthy relationship with an obviously very damaged girl - but what damage will that do to Sasha herself? And, inadvertently, to any number of people...
What I love about this is the depth given to the characters, the very real emotional core of the storytelling that puts you exactly where they are - you almost understand everything they do even when they are doing terrible things, it has that thought provoking "what would I do?" vibe throughout the narrative that leaves you ultimately a little melancholy. The tale twists and turns, Sasha sinks deeper into the mire, misunderstandings and assumptions cause chaos and it is totally totally gripping and realistically emotive.
It is beautifully written to immerse you into the lives of Sasha and the rest, one thing this author has proven with this book is she knows how to write an ending. Oh boy does she! The ending of Suicide Notes was cleverly divisive and the ultimate last moments of Bad Girls is another one that will leave you going back and worrying at it for a long time. Clever plotting, engaging and multi layered characters makes Bad Girls With Perfect Faces a right old page turner with a huge dose of soul.
Highly Recommended.
