I received a copy of Fix, Freeze, Feast, 2nd Edition by Kati Neville and Lindsay Ahrens from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Although I am not a very adventurous cook (I tend to make the dozen or so things that I know how to make well and like), there were several recipes that immediately jumped out as things I am pretty confident I can create easily! Best of all, with these recipes and knowing what to freeze, I can plan ahead for family gatherings and not spend all my time preparing meals. Looking forward to trying these out! |
Fix, Freeze Feast.....By Kati Neville. WoW.......What a wonderful find this book is. If you're on a budget, and have a busy family/working life and want to prepare tasty dinners, healthy dinners etc in advance and bulk, this is a book for you. Throughout this wonderful book, it has brilliant easy to follow recipes to follow with lovely clear photo's of some of what was made. This is a must book if you want to save money especially as it shows you what ingredients you can use to make tasty meals without purchasing jars of sauces etc. Most of us have these ingredients in our kitchen cupboards. It gives you clear instructions on how to prepare your meal/s, how to freeze it and then cook it etc. I just love this book and will be purchased when it goes on sale. I would highly recommend this book. I was given an ARC by NetGalley for an Honest review. Big Fat 5* from me. |

As a busy mom of three, I was excited to read Fix, Freeze, Feast. I have tried in the past to prepare meals ahead and freeze them, but I never get past two or three meals. I have researched the books about making four weeks worth of meals, but get intimidated by the sheer number of meals. What makes Fix, Freeze, Feast different is first, the authors were owners of a meal prep business. I like to think that the recipes I'm trying have been tested and enjoyed by many other cooks. The second reason this book is different from other make ahead books is that when you cook one large recipe, you divide it into two or three meals for your family. After perusing the many recipes, I got hungry. The book has full color pictures of the delicious looking meals. There are some great looking recipes in here. I will definitely try these recipes and maybe I really will have a freezer stocked with meals for my family. |
I'm hoping this cookbook, will get me to follow through. The recipes look great and I know I will make them, it's getting ahead of the game and making and freezing to have a later date, I never seem to do. |
There are many good looking recipes in this book but the amounts of food that each recipe is very large. This cookbook would be good for anyone with a large family or someone with a deep freezer. |

I liked this cookbook. Very well put together and easy. The only thing that I wish it had was more pictures. I like to see what I am making and make sure that it looks like it supposed to. |

I’ve always wanted to try making meals ahead of time and freezing them, so on super-busy weeknights, I don’t have to do all the work. This book makes it easy to do just that. Everything from what I need to make the meals to tips on how to package my food is included, and with plenty of tasty recipes. Here are a few of the recipes in the book: chicken cordon bleu; chicken parmigiana; Dave’s swamp blues barbeque chicken, chicken pizza; sweet Asian chicken; cashew chicken stir fry; peanut satay; tostada filling; chicken wings; beef and bean burritos; Spanish rice; classic lasagna; Mexi-stuffed peppers; Tuscan meatloaf; classic chili; blackjack steak; beef fajitas; steak skewers; ginger beef; cheesesteaks; An’s pork chops; Cam’s ribs; sticky ribs; Caribbean pork tenderloin; farmers market soup; chili Verde; rice pilaf; skillet rice and beans; lemon-blueberry strata; spanakopita; shrimp curry; vegetable lasagna; black bean soup; French onion soup; pumpkin muffins; smoothies and so much more. There are definitely a lot of good choices in this cookbook. |

I love to prepare a variety of different meals that I can make in advance and freeze. Easy to take out defrost and have a tasty plate of food when things get busy. Making more than one of the same freezer meal is also time saving and easier when planning the grocery list. This book is an absolute must have for our busy lives, giving the family healthy meals instead of these dreadful takeaways our children are addicted to. |

A great selection of recipes. Very easy to follow and love the handy hints and tips. Will definitely be trying many of these. |
I think many of us are trying to be much more time and money conscience. I know that for so many of us- we spend a LOT of money on food. I know that I do. I have been trying to plan better so that way I am not scrambling in the kitchen or stopping for food on the way home. That's why I love this book! There are so many great recipes to prep now and save time (money and frustration!) in the future. Fix it, freeze it, and then- voila! pull it out the freezer and prepare dinner. I found this book to be well organized and the recipes are solid! |
I read this book over a month ago and waited to post a review until after I had prepared and served some of the freezer meal recipes. I have to say that not only was shopping easier but also having frozen, prepared meals made dinner time so much less stressful after a long day. There are times when my inner Top Chef takes over the kitchen and there are times when I just want to cook with easy to obtain items that provide flavorful meal options. I’ve tried five recipes- Chicken-Broccoli Bake, Sun-Dried Pesto Chicken, Beef and Bow Tie Soup, Basil-Balsamic Chops and even a breakfast recipe- Breakfast Burritos. The meal preparation was easy and straightforward and even better, they all tasted good! There are so many more recipes that I plan to try and I am looking forward to working my way through them all. A real time saver and the only thing I would have personally liked would have been a picture of each recipe. There were quite a few pictures, but for me, I am a very visual person who just likes to see the finished recipe before I begin. I am sure the page count and production costs came into play and the many pictures that are included all look yummy. A solid 4.5 stars Thank you, Kati Neville, Lindsay Ahrens, Storey Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC to read and review. |
I was looking for a good cookbook with ideas of what to cook plenty of and freeze for several meals. This book was exactly what I was looking for. Everyone loves the Chicken Cordon Blue. I never knew it was so easy to make. |
I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher - The best-selling Fix, Freeze, Feast has proven to be incredibly popular with busy and thrifty home cooks, and now the second edition ensures this foolproof make-ahead meal plan is accessible to the next generation of families on the go. This classic cookbook has been fully updated to reflect how we buy food and eat today, with an increased emphasis on plant-based meals and purchasing fresh, seasonal produce and bulk grains and beans. Each recipe is designed to be made in large quantities, frozen, and re-heated. As someone who recently discovered that their elderly parents seem to live on frozen dinners from various Senior-assistant programs I was DELIGHTED AND SO HAPPY that I got a chance to review this book. The community resource centre where I work also teaches families to bulk cook and freeze vs. living on delivered food so this book will be an AMAZING help for those classes. (I cannot wait to pre-order that book and order the first edition of this book as well!) This book is going to teach me to be organized and not spend time wondering what to buy and what to cook but to make these meals easily and with more variety of dishes than what I usually serve. I am famous and loved for my soups and stews but maybe my parents will want something else and this book is an amazing resource. I read it this afternoon in one fell swoop AND have a solid plan of attack and a grocery list for tomorrow's cooking session. THANK YOU!!! Six out of 5 stars!! |
This recipe book is one I'd love to have on my shelf! The recipes are clear and accessible for any level cook. They seem creative enough to inspire a more advanced cook, but the majority of them would be easy for even a newbie to tackle. Unusual ingredients are often explained on the page, so if you've never tried to find fish sauce in a grocery store you'll have help. Most of the ingredients, though, are familiar and straight-forward. The book contains plenty of beautiful photos of these appealing recipes, and techniques for freezing and thawing each meal. It certainly made me think about doing more freezer cooking, and at the very least I'll be adding some of these recipes to my own meal plan. I especially appreciated the "feast tonight" suggestions. It's so nice to see alternative ways to use the recipes and ingredients! This book offers plenty of variety while still managing to be approachable to any cook. |
I have not read the first edition of Fix, Freeze, Feast, but I would like to now. I am a food prep fiend. I love nothing more than having most of our week's meals planned and made on a Saturday, leaving me with healthy meals at my fingertips and a few "ahhh, I already know what we are having for dinner" moments because dinner is done. My only dilemma is that we end up wasting food. I double or triple recipes and freeze the leftovers, but we don't always eat all of what we have frozen. I LOVE that this book does all the math for you. The recipes are planned out for you to make a large amount and freeze. It also has complete instructions on how to prepare the meal after freezing. Not only that, but the book is full of cooking tips, especially as it pertains to freezing meals. I'm a vegetarian, but for meat eaters, there are chapters on beef, chicken, and pork recipes, as well as seafood. I found plenty of recipes I would love to try from the vegetables section. Lots of soups, frittatas, stratas, and more. I plan to update my review once I have tried a few recipes. Thank you to Kati Neville and Lindsay Athens for all their hard work in producing this cookbook. I hope they will make another. Thanks also to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book. |
How do you write yummy and mean yummy recipes? Fix, Freeze, Feast, 2nd Edition: The Delicious, Money-Saving Way to Feed Your Family; The Make-Ahead Plan: 1 Day of Cooking = 12 Days of Dinner; Fill Your Freezer with Dozens of Homemade Meals is the perfect definition of yummy as you will find plenty of freezer friendly recipes in Kati Nevelle's cookbook. Some of the recipes you'll find include: Cherry Skillet Chicken Port Barbecue Chicken Enchiladas Suiza Stack Spanish Rice Basil-Balsamic Chops Thai Red Curry with Vegetables Golden Granola PB&J Breakfast Cookies Lemon-Lavender Cookies Strawberry Smoothies While I could see her cookbook helping out with large family meals, I plan to adapt her recipes to serve our small family of two. Recommend. Review written after downloading a galley from Net Galley. |
I am unable to download this title. I was really looking forward to reading it. |

More and more people are looking for a quick way to serve healthy meals after a long day at work. This book contains many appetizing recipes that can be made in large batches, then frozen in containers for individual or family meals. The authors take great pains to include helpful advice on the process of make-ahead meals that are frozen, including ways to avoid things like freezer burn or loss of a food's flavor. Helpful hints accompany each recipe. I do wish there were photos of every recipe, even if they are smaller size than the ones that are included. But, this is a book I'd buy and recommend to friends. |
