A five star plus, modern family saga. I was hooked from the first page. Absolutely brilliant. I couldn't put it down.

This book tells us the story of sisters Harper & Stacey along with their domineering mother Bunny. Although very different in personalities Harper & Stacey had a very strong bond. Which was especially important to them with a mother like they had. Bunny has very strong opinions on how women should be and neither daughter was up to her standards. Harper is a divorcee with a teen aged daughter Becca. She is busy running her virtual assistant business and bringing up her daughter. Stacey is a brilliant scientist . Who is expecting a baby daughter. Something Bunny doesn't know as Stacey just cant bring herself to tell her. Especially when she will only be taking three weeks maternity leave and Kit her husband will be bring up the baby. I must admit Stacey drove me mad with calling herself a vessel. She didn't have a maternal bone in her body! The mother Bunny was awful. She tried emotional blackmail to get what she wanted. Having said that she did redeem herself in the end.I felt for both sisters, Stacey never felt good enough in her Mothers eyes. Harper was too busy trying to please everyone. Now onto the men, Kit was a wonderful supportive husband. Lucas was puzzling in my eyes. He was so supportive to both Harper and Becca. Then he went and did something really hurtful.
I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to visiting Mischief Bay again. Highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance.

Thisis my first read by this author so another new author to add to me like category so it's all good as I could only read one author so I'm doing well.
So, we have two very different sisters one is Harper who has had to tight and work hard for everything she believes in. Her husband leaves her from a younger model and doesn't offer her any spousal support or anything so she has to fend for herself....
Then there's the sibling Stacey who gets what she wants at ease unlike Harper. Stacey is a scientist and she gets pregnant and she doesn't want yo beluga it but hides it from the family
There is Bunny, the mother of the two who is overbearing and caring.
This story enlightens most everyday situations we encounter, there's laugh out loud moments, times you want to shout hell yeah and just a general everyday situation that isn't too out there. The characters were fun and believable and it's fun and easy read. I would read a book by this author again.
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this or a review.

Stacey is a scientific genius, the best in her job, but when it comes to family she is not so great. She is pregnant but can't feel a connection to her baby and, even though she is past the sixth month, she still hasn't told her overbearing mother about her pregnancy. Her sister Harper doesn't have a better relationship with their mother either, since she blames her for not keeping her husband and disapproves of her getting a job after the divorce. Meanwhile, Harper's sixteen-year-old daughter, Becca, has her own problems: her mother is too busy with her job to listen to her, her best friend is distant since she has a boyfriend, her father is not really interested in her because he is too busy with his new young wife, and she has a crush on her uncle's nephew, Ashton.

The novel started a bit slow for me, I wasn't really getting into it, but as I kept reading I got to know and like the characters more and their stories became more intriguing and captivating. There are no shocking surprises, but this is still a romantic, funny, and enjoyable novel about family, parenting, and second chances.

This book was a bit childish for me but I’d purchase it for other that aren’t into deeper books like I am.

This is a very American book so some of the concepts seemed a bit strange to me. After completing it I found that it is part of a series set in Mischief Bay, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. The idea of women (Bunny & Harper) in modern day America spending so much time on household chores is difficult to believe, especially as Harper is also trying to run her own business. The book is very readable but rather melodramatic and unbelievable. I don't think that I would bother with anything else by Susan Mallery.

I really enjoyed this book. It follows Harper Bunny Stacey and Becca and the bond between sisters and their mum.

All of them have been through so much and we follow the ups and downs of their lives.

A nice light book that is nice to snuggle up with. Sometimes the characters make stupid mistakes and you end up thinking oh come on what are you doing?

But a good easy to read book.
