I love the concept of one love, two stories and in this first of two books we follow Anna from her childhood. It is, as we have come to expect from Amanda Prowse, an emotional story and Anna is a very endearing character. I’m left hoping that she has a good life beyond the end of the book and hopefully Theo (book 2) will confirm that for me. This is the first time I have felt at a disadvantage in getting an advance copy as I so desperately want to read Theo’s story right now. I would imagine most folk will choose to read them in quick succession.

This is the story of Anna, a little girl who is very much loved by her mum & brother Joe and they live a very happy life together until tragedy strikes when Anna is 9 and her mum dies unexpectedly, Anna's world is turned upside down and Joe steps in to look after her but he has problems of his own and when Anna is 13 more tragedy rocks her world and she ends up in care.

Being in care toughens Anna up and when she is ready to make her own way in the world at the age of 18 she is well prepared to face what life throws her way.

She misses her family terribly and it's the memories she has that keep her going and prepared to make a life for herself, so when she meets Theo she knows he's the one for her and they build their future together, a future she has been planning since she was six years old.

I loved Anna from the moment I started reading this book and was really looking forward to seeing what the future had in store for her, I adored the alphabet game she played when she needed comfort and safety and the letters that she regularly wrote and when she met Theo, another troubled soul for reasons far different to hers but the same in many ways, I hoped for a happy ending.  I'm really looking forward to reading Theo, part two of this beautiful story to see if that happens.

Amanda Prowse has a way of drawing you into her stories, enveloping you in the emotions of the characters lives and making you feel you are right there beside them within the pages of each and every book she writes.  I would like to thank Head of Zeus for the Netgalley approval for this one.   I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

I was so excited when I found out there was a new Amanda Prowse book out and to find out another is imminent filled me with joy!!

Two stories/one love what a brilliant concept

This book will drag you in from the first page do not plan to do any housework or cooking or in fact anything but read! You will not be able to put it down.

It starts off with Anna who is a poor girl who has an awful start in life and ends up in care, her life just plods along until Theo comes along.

Theo is driving me crazy I want to scream at him to just got for it to stop thinking so negatively and stop breaking the heart of the person he loves so much. However, I’m keeping an open mind until I read Theo (his part of the story)

I’m so impatient I want to read Theo NOW I keep checking and checking for a date!! Amanda Prowse you have always been a fantastic writer no-one does family drama like you do!!

This was a powerful and emotional read. We meet Anna at age 6 and walk with her through to Adulthood, Amanda draws us in and we experience everything she goes through, the heartbreak and the laughter and the hope and love. She overcomes so much and stays so strong yet completely vulnerable and still remains open to love. Theo has issues of his own from childhood, can their love for each other be enough to make a future together. I was completely invested in Anna and Theo and definetly recommend this beautiful story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus for and advanced copy in return for an honest review.

This is NOT my usual reading material i will choose but every now and then i feel i need a change or stop so instead of stopping i find a read thats something completly different and this was that book.... I enjoyed the whole setting for this book, the characters were easy to follow no complicated stories or anything to catch up on so a perfect read. It has you gripped from very early on so clear your schedules.
come from.
Its about two different people who come from totally different lifestyles. All of your emotions will be used in this book, you will laugh, cry and feel pride throughtout different sections and yet you wonder how thats possible in a single read.
your story is told to you from Anna being a very little girl upon adulthood, Then as an adult she meets Theo, the plot thickens from heronin. the books runs in two, Anna setting and Theos setting so if this book isnt your style maybe its not for you but its wrote to perfection.
her writing is explicable and raw, soemthing many writers dont offer. An amazing read.

I always enjoy Amanda Prowse's books and this was no exception. I understand that it's the first in a 2 part story. Anna has had a very sad upbringing, losing her mother and living in care. All she wants is a happy family of her own. This is the story of her life, eventually meeting and falling in love with Theo. But Theo has had his own problems. Can the 2 of them make things work and find their happy ever after? We have to wait for Theo's side of the story to find out. Hope the wait isn't too long! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

As is typical of Amanda Prowse, the characters in her books become friends very quickly. Anna is a wonderful story, and I was lost in the land of stories for the whole book. I loved it, and I'm really excited to read Theo's story,

Amanda Prowse is my favourite author - I have absolutely loved every one of her previous books.

I had to wait until I had a free day to begin reading this book as I knew I would not be able to put it down.

I was quickly drawn into Anna's story - a rollercoaster of a journey. I found her story so poignant and felt the ups and downs with her - so heartwarming but heart-wrenching at the same time. I always need a box of tissues nearby with Amanda's books as the stories are always so beautiful and powerful and evoke such strong emotions, I don't know how she does it.

I find the idea of two sides of the love story intriguing and now I am counting down the days until I can read Theo's side of the story.

Highly recommended - I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could. Absolutely fantastic, another amazing book - can't wait for the next one!

I love all Amanda Prowse books and this goes down as one of my favourites. Anna, is a survivor who hasn’t had the easiest of childhoods but carves out a future for herself with the gorgeous Theo. Anna is desperate for the 2 Children she has always wanted and written letters to but it seems Anna and Theo both want different futures. I’m really looking forward to part 2 of this series and keeping my fingers crossed for this lovely couple and a happy ending

Yet another fantastic read by Amanda Prowse, this time a story in two halves. The first is Anna’s story, a moving tale of a young girl left devastated by the death of her mother.

I loved Anna, who in spite of everything she goes through, is a strong woman who quickly learns how to take care of herself. Her story had me crying one minute and laughing the next, a perfect balance between light and shade.

The second half of the tale will be told from the perspective of Theo and I can’t wait to read it!

A fantastic read that I highly recommend. A very easy 5 stars.

As ever, a book to sit down with on a wet afternoon and enjoy. I loved every page. Amanda Prowse never fails to hit the right spot. Commuting is to be looked forward to with any of her books to hand. More and more please.

My 4* review for Anna by Amanda Prowse.

There are two sides to every love story. Anna Cole grew up in care, and wants to start a family of her own, and provide them with the childhood she missed. On the other hand, Theo Montgomery had a loveless childhood, and wants to find his soulmate and doesn't want a child to go through what he did. When they meet and fall in love, each shows the other what heartbreak really feels like.

This is Book one, which is Anna's story.

Amanda Prowse certainly knows how to hook you right in from page one and take you on a wonderful emotional journey with her characters and you live their lives with them, through all the tears, happiness, disappointment and determination that makes up an excellent story. I laughed, cried, shouted and stayed up late into the night and felt wretched by the end but longing for more, and I can't wait to read Theo's side of the story.

The letters that Anna writes to her unborn children Fifi and Fox are an inspired piece of genius and just upset me even more when Anna commits her true feelings, hopes and dreams to paper and lets us into the very soul of her and realise that all she wants from life is to have a family that she can call her own for once. My laughter came from her cousin Jordan, who is fabulous, and Ned's Mum Sylvie who is so funny.

It is such an fascinating concept that what happens in your childhood shapes you for life and influences your adult decisions and choices, so I enjoyed exploring Anna's childhood and am looking forward to finding out what made Theo the man he became.

This is the kind of story that one would expect from this author. It gets you fully immersed with the characters life and I found myself feeling every emotion possible whilst reading it. I also finished this novel in one go, which is unusual for me.

Anna has had so many changes in her young life, it is a wonder she is not hardened by it all but somehow she gets through and still has enough love and compassion in her heart for others. Anna is strong but vulnerable and I found myself wishing and hoping for nothing but good things for her in her future, because darn it, she deserves it!

I can't wait until I read Theo's story because I loved Anna's.......

Thank you to NetGalley and Head of Zeus. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

The joy of reading is in its ability to transport you to someone else’s world for a while. Amanda Prowse is a very, VERY clever writer. She is the travel agent of the writing world – delivering you with ease into the places and lives of her characters. She weaves a story that is always utterly believable, and she makes her characters so very real, that you get swept along with them and their stories in a whirl of emotions and reactions. Anna is no exception. This girl, who had such a loving early childhood, and a beautiful relationship with her Mother, craves children of her own so much that she touchingly writes to them throughout her troubled life. Anna faces things in her life that would break a lesser person. She is tough, resilient and movingly vulnerable. When she meets Theo, her world changes for ever, and the man who struggled through a difficult childhood finally lets her hope that all her dreams can come true. “You make it sunny even when it’s raining”. This first part of the Anna and Theo story is enchanting and emotional. Poignant, authentic and so very moving. I am poised with huge excitement to hear Theo’s side of the story. April is too far away!

This book is a half of a literary first, two books, Anna and Theo. There are two sides to every love story. This is Anna's. Place the two books together and the covers become one.
Having devoured this book in one sitting I can't wait to read Theo's story as once again Amanda Prowse has written about true to life characters who you actually care about and empathise with.
Amanda you never disappoint!!
Highly recommend.

Anna's side of the story.
Anna is the first of a two book set and the second book, Theo, is due for release on March 8th. In this first book we hear Anna's story, in the second one we will get the other side of the coin. I'm hopeless at remembering the finer details in books, so I'm glad I won't have to wait too long for the sequel.

Amanda Prowse's characters have always struggled in some way, in The Food of Love it was anorexia and in The Art of Hiding it was bereavement and moving on. This time we meet Anna, left without family from an early age and struggling to find her place in the world. She meets Theo, himself a damaged man, full of hurt and resentment. Can they make a relationship work and live happily ever after?

The characterisations were excellent and the dialogue well done and I found myself looking forward to the opportunity to pick the book up and resume reading, which hasn't happened for a while. For me it didn't quite reach the level of The Art of Hiding or The Food of Love, but it was still an excellent read. I shall certainly be on the lookout for Theo's story in the near future.
