4.5 star read - This story is narrated in current time from the points of view of Harriet and her best friend Charlotte, and by Harriet's flashbacks and diary entries, yet for the most is a fast-paced domestic noir novel with excellent characterisation that deals with the greatest moral dilemma a parent may face and ends on the right note.

I read this thriller almost entirely in one sitting! Stomach-churning and incredibly fast-paced. I couldn't bring myself to put it down.

Charlotte is looking after her best friend’s daughter the day she disappears. She thought the little girl was playing with her own children. She swears she only took her eyes off them for a second.
Now, Charlotte must do the unthinkable, tell her best friend Harriet that her only child is missing. The child she was meant to be watching.

This book is intense, you know that Harriet's child is going to go missing but when it actually happens in the book you feel physically sick. The characterisation is excellent and as you delve deeper and deeper in the minds and hearts of the characters surrounding this case there are as many twists and turns as you expect.

I would recommend this is any thriller fan.

Absolutely brilliant. Couldn't put this book down. Right from the very start you are gripped by events and the horror that a child has gone missing. As the story unfolds you realise that everything is not what it seems. Some clever twists and very chilling moments. This book was an excellent read. Now going to read her other books! Highly recommend

If you enjoy a book full of secrets and lies then this is the one for you.

Charlotte persuades her friend Harriet that her four yr old daughter Alice would be safe with her and her own children at the fete, but she took her eyes of them for a few minutes, only to look up and find she's missing. The police take both Charlotte and Alice's parents in for questioning. What was Charlotte doing? Where were the parents at the time of Alice's disappearance? As the story unfolds the lies and secrets start coming through. Despite an intensive search Alice appears to have vanished in to thin air. Can the police find her and those responsible?
I loved the twists in this thriller and found myself getting annoyed with one of the characters, but that made it all the more enjoyable.
I received this book via NetGalley and have no hesitation in recommending it. It gets a full five stars from me. This is my honest and unbiased review

I read this book in one tension filled evening. I was absolutely gripped by the sympathetic well drawn characters and couldn't go to bed until I knew how it ended.

A fast paced and very intriguing thriller about a missing child and the rift it creates between two close friends.

This is one of those bang through books you can't put down where everyone is hiding something, Heidi Perks writes with an instinctive knowledge of how to keep the reader enthralled and dissects her characters along the way until you see them clearly.

The resolution may be unexpected (although I've seen it before I've not seen it done in perhaps quite such a compelling way so I caught it) but whether it is or not the whole story is fascinatingly dark with the twists and turns coming in perfect harmony with the rest.

I liked how it played out between past and present, and the sacrificial nature of the friendship between the two women - overall a very good bit of storytelling.

Recommended. Review to be updated onto the website nearer publication.
