Quaker Roots and Branches- John Lampen

At a time when the Quaker church is undergoing trials and deep changes, this book is very timely.

Lampen writes a short biography not only of the church, but of several significant Quaker believers, providing a taste of Quakerism and a snapshot of its beginnings and how it has evolved. Through insightful writing, he concludes by describing the situation the Quaker church now faces in a simple, non critical manner, so typical of Quaker beliefs.

I found this book fascinating and revealing. my only complaint being the book was too short!

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. From the publisher ---
Quaker Roots and Branches explores what Quakers call their “testimonies” - the interaction of inspiration, faith and action to bring change in the world. It looks at Quaker concerns around the sustainability of the planet, peace, war, punishment, and music and the arts in the past and today. It stresses the continuity of their witness over three hundred and sixty-five years as well as their openness to change and development.

Interesting, quick read...Quakers are still all about peace, love, and non-aggression which is refreshing in the days of self-centered millennials and cell[phone addiction. I also kind of laughed as it seems that Quakers are the "crunchy granola" type of people and a Quaker is on my canister of oats!!!
