While this book serves a noble purpose, I wasn’t too keen on it overall. The illustrations were not appealing enough to make me want to recommend it.

It was great to read how each of these Icons "fought" for peace. My only regret was that the book was too brief. Other than that, I loved the images and how the information was presented.

Another amazing edition from quarto publishing. Each person of peace is artfully represented and their actions are fully explained.

Love these books, everything about them is clear, concise and informative. The science one grabbed us more , but this is a range we love having in the shop.

People of Peace is a collection of biographical snippets on 40 influential figures from recent history. They are all examples of world citizens who advocate for human rights and world peace. The illustrations are simple and engaging, making the text more accessible for struggling readers.

I really liked the way it paired or grouped well-known advocates with lesser known figures. Each person, from Aristide Briand to Malala Yousafzai, has their own short biography, a unique illustration, and an eye-catching title.

I would have liked to see a bit more diversity in the people profiled, but there is representation for both women and people of color. It would be easy for educators to go through this book in a month or so with students, reading about one figure a day.

This was an ARC e-book provided by Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group.

I truly enjoyed this book. It was super interesting reading about different activists, some of whom I was already familiar with, and some of whom I was not.

The book is basically like a graphic Wikipedia page. I didn't enjoy it one bit. I gave it 2 stars, because I wanted more out of the book, at least tidbits that I'd never known of r heard of. But instead, it was simply a collection of people and a few deeds they did.
I got this book from NetGalley. I wish the book had something new or different.

Personally, I would not have put some of the people featured in “People of Peace” on my personal list of peacemakers. However, I was pleased to learn about people that I had not heard of before.

I really like the premise of this book. Kids definitely need people to look up to and to aspire to be like and there are 40 tremendous choices within these pages. People of Peace is an inspiring book about 40 different people, from different walks of life, who each made it their mission to contribute to a world of peace. I love that there are both men and women from old times and current times for kids to learn about. They will learn not only about these people's missions, but a little about world history as well which I think is super cool. I even learned about a few world changers myself! I think this book should be something all older elementary school aged children should read!

This is a collective biography of people who worked to promote peace-some of them will be familiar and some, not so much. The art work is very stylized and the text is short and precise. It's apparently meant to get kids interested in people who helped to promote peace with out weighing them down with too much information. It's nice.

Lovely little book of lots of iconic, inspirational activists, decorated with illustrations and different bits of information. would definitely attract children if not even teens.
I found the illustrations a bit basic, and felt they could have been a bit more attractive, but the selection of people that's included is really good and diverse, also liked the presentation of information and highlights about each person quite entertaining.
I would buy this book for my son!

This book is a collection of compact information of 40 important people that we know of, given in a simple and fun way with very cute illustrations next to them. I really enjoyed it. Some names are Albert Einstein, Victor Hugo, Charlie Chaplin. These people are somehow associated with peace with their activities, so it's important for kids to learn more about them.
I would really recommend this to parents to teach their kids more about these people in a fun way.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for granting a copy in exchange for an honest review.

"People of Peace" is an inspirational picture book for kids. 40 iconic peace advocates were selected. I have heard a good number of them but many were foreign to me. Very educational for both kids and adults. Concise and succinct background of each person keep reading interesting.

Illustrations are wonderfully rendered, as always.

This would make a perfect book for parents to introduce kids to some of the most influential peace fighters in history. Some of the choices picked for "People of Peace" might not be the best representations but there are definitely few well known figures that kids should learn a thing or two about.

"People of Peace" no doubt is a great book to add to anyone's private library.

I really enjoys books that give you a glimpse of stories of great people, and People Of Peace certainly is an enjoyable read for those reasons from start to finish. a book that is perfect for older children about incredible people from around the world.

This book is so aesthetically pleasing. The layout of this book is done so well with incredible illustrations of all the people who are featured in the book, and little facts about the people circling the illustrations that add to your picture of the person and then fact boxes that allow you an understanding of each entrant and what they have achieved.

The writing I think is better suited to an older reader (10+), and I do think for that reason it would benefit this book to have a glossary of terms used, however, it is a really good layout that gives the reader the information they need about the person featured and I think it would make me curious to know more about every single one.

A fantastic book, if you’re looking for sources of inspiration, you won’t find a better read!

Looking for a way to add spark to a unit on biographies, historical events or the power of an individual? People Of Peace is the book that will fit this task. As an educator, I am always looking for a mentor text that will ignite my students desire to learn more about the topics I am tasked with teaching them. This book has colorful and engaging illustrations of "40 inspiring icons" accompanied by a page of information. Just enough information that a student can gain an understanding of the individual, and yet left with the desire to learn more... about the person, their cause, world events happening during their life... the possibilities for teaching and learning with this book are endless.

Meet forty significant figures in the promotion of peace!

People of Peace is a very fun children's book involving people who have, each in their own way, worked towards global peace. Complete with beautiful illustrations and interesting key facts about their lives, the book is ideal for children, but fun for adults, as well! Definitely recommended as a gift to a child, and also as a family group read.

This is a wonderful book for young and old. A fascinating look at the men and women who have helped to bring peace across the world. This is marketed and labelled as a children's book but we can all learn something about and from the individuals contained within the book.

This is an interesting selection of infuential people who were fighting for peace in their time. The people picked up begins in the middle of the 19th century, and continues through to the early part of the 21st century.

As you can see by the illustrations below, each person selected is presented liked a character in a game, so you know the quick facts about them. For example, for Malala Yousafzai, we learn that she got the Nobel Peace prize, what happened to her, and what she has done since, plus a cute little drawing of her.

Obviously this is not meant to be the end all of information, but hopefully would spark children or young people to seek out more information about each of these important people who worked for peace.

People of Peace by Sandrine Mirza and Le Duo is a lovely collection of important figures from recent history (and today) who fought/are fighting for peace and human rights. It’s in a format that really works well for kids. There are quite a few of these types of books available right now, but this one is unique in the fact that it groups together well-known AND lesser known individuals who at one point (or all) of their life (lives) fought for peace in some way or another.

There are 40 people in the book, and each figure has their own page with a really cool lay-out. A short biography, some facts, a lovely illustration, and a great title. You can read about John Lennon and Nelson Mandela, but also about Tegla Loroupe, Rigoberta Mechú, and Bertha von Suttner amongst others. I loved seeing Aristide Briand and Jean-Jaurès mentioned, as growing up in France these are household names to me, but probably not to anyone outside of the country! I do think that there could have been a bit more diversity in the figures chosen, but I do appreciate that there are women and people of color represented. I also like how easy it is to pick out a figure or two and read about them during story time with the kids, and how we can use every page as a learning moment.

People of Peace will be published by Quarto Publishing Group - Wide Eyed Editions on May 3rd, 2018. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy!
