A highly original book that takes the Arthurian lagends and characters and transfer them into a futuristic city. We have Arti, Gal, Merl, Lance, Morgan Fay, Mordred etc. The myths are adapted into a fine tale of a book burining authoritarian society reminiscemt of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

It's a well written cliche-free page-turner. Well worth a read. Give it a try.

A good dystopian YA fantasy that is a rewriting of the Arthurian saga.
I liked the plot, the set of characters and the style of writing. I found that some information were missing and there was not a lot of world building that would have added interest to the book.
The epilogue seems to suggest that this will be a saga and I hope to be able to read more adventures.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley

In a world where reading and writing are crimes and books are contraband, Arti, the 15 year old main character of this quest must save the world. Seems like a lot to put on the shoulders of a teenage girl but why not?

I don’t want to give too many spoilers but I enjoyed this story! I loved the character development and how true to herself Arti and her best friend Gal seemed. The old Librarian Merl was a relief once his true purpose was shown. Another thing I liked about this book is the setting. I’m unsure if it was a futuristic world or just a past world that discovered technology before our time. So it truly took this story to a separate place. The ending had me on the edge of my couch and I neglected homework to finish.

Morgan Fay and her son, the Incendi captain could have used a bit more fleshing out. I was not impressed by the son at all, I cannot even remember his name.

Overall I loved it. This was my first ARC from netgalley and I’m so glad I got to read this book. #TheBookKnights

I was intrigued by the blurb I read about this book, after all what could be cooler than knights that protect books?! Having finished it I still think it’s a great idea but unfortunately I think it would have benefited from more rigorous editing. Grammar mistakes in the text irritated me (lied down instead of lay e.g.) and the concept of the writing of the last page of the book rewriting the future wasn’t adequately explained in my opinion. Having said that I did enjoy the story and I would probably read any sequels.

I truly thought that the concept behind this book was incredible, and the characters and the story also great, I did however find it hard to stay focussed in parts due to some of the book being information heavy and unnecessary - I do love the friendship these characters have with each other etc., I do recommend this book for those wanting a light read based around books being banned and how they fight to show how important the written word can be, but with a pinch of salt with the world.

Fahrenheit 451 AU of the King Arthur story.

The cover art for this is fabulous. The book itself is very... odd. The setting, this type of modern-but-not-modern Fahrenheit 451 dystopia, is very strange, and I never fully understood the world. They talk about different countries and other places, but both Morgan Fay's realm and "the Isle" seem about the size of Manhattan. Yet, somehow the fate of the world hangs in the balance? Why does the Grail Tome care if Morgan Fay is burning all the books in her little city? Aren't there millions of other books in the world, whose existence should hold off the coming of the apocalyptic "last page"? There clearly are plenty of books just across the river on the Isle.

The writing seemed clunky, and most of the characters I felt like I hardly knew by the end. Arti and Gal had the only relationship with any weight. They were good, but everything else felt a little off. Even most of the Arthurian riffs ("whoso pulleth these words from this tome") seemed mostly awkward. The most intriguing part was the epilogue, but I think I would probably pass on a sequel.

The Book Knights is a fantastic novel for anyone. If you love the magic of reading and how books made you feel as a kid then this book is for you! Arti, the main character, is well written and a great hero of the story. I feel the appeal of wizards, knights, and friends can be ageless. Plus, I just looked at the price and its well worth it for your kindle! It's a steal!

Thanks for the opportunity to read this book, unfortunately I didn’t get on with it very well. There was nothing wrong with it per se but it felt like a lot of books I’ve read before had a very similar storyline. This shouldn’t put other readers off as the writing was fine and the premise interesting it’s just unfortunate for me that I’ve read a lot with the same premise!

I received a copy of The Book Knights from Net Galley and have to say, I absolutely loved it!

It is a King Arthur retelling, which took me longer to realise than I care to admit! However once I did realise everything clicked into place.

It follows our main character Arti, who’s parents are arrested for being readers and for having a hidden collection of books, which in this world is completely punishable. Arti goes on the run and meets Gal, a young street smart girl. And together, along with some characters you meet later, they embark on an adventure to save the world from the impending doom.

I really loved this book. I thought the characters were all developed well and I really became fond of them whilst reading. For some reason I kept picturing Merl to be similar to Radagast from LOTRs which I think increased my love for his character!

The story was a lot of fun to read and the pacing was good. I was quite worried when by 75% of the way through the book the “main event” so to speak hadn’t happened, however the ending didn’t feel rushed at all thankfully!

Overall I loved this book and would recommend to anyone who likes fantasy, magic or just a good story!

The Book Knights contains nice passages about the power and magic of words. Merl is an old librarian, and the fight in this world is for books. Readers and scribes are persecuted, and that makes the act of reading feel more sacred. I was enthralled with the first hundred pages. This book unfortunately lost momentum halfway through, where it became a crawl towards a rather predictable finish. The problem with the pacing is that over the course of two months, the entire story takes place, but the last three days of those two months are the last third of the book. Gal learns to read really fast, and then it takes forever for the big event to take place. However, this book is content appropriate for younger kids, so even a ten year old could enjoy it. In fact, I'd probably recommend it more for ages 10-14.

I received a free copy of this for review from NetGalley **

Solid 3 stars. I enjoyed the story and the characters but found the book wasn't nearly long enough. I needed it to get more in depth about a few of the characters and side story lines/ backstories. Maybe the continuation will give me more but it seems as if things were just lightly touched on to explain something and then the story moved on.

Definitely a fun, quick read and I'll definitely pick up any books that come next

This is a great story of adventure with magic, friendship and great characters. I love how the author reinvented old legends, which made for a very interesting and enjoyable read. The writing was great and the characters were generally all good with my favourite character being Mordred.
Overall I highly recommend this book and although it was wrapped up well I still wish for another.

I love stories like this. Where owning books are not allowed and there can and will be consequences. The world feels believable but too short. It felt at several points a little bit rushed, but the plot is interesting and you will feel like you are being dragged in. Well, at least I did!

I'm glad I read this one since it's a long time since I've read a King Arthur myth. I can't remember the last time. I'm hopeful that the author will keep doing great things based on this work.

This book is a retelling of the Arthurian legends with a spin, and the spin is books and the written word.
I feel this novel is too short. I'd like to explain more: the plot and the characters are compelling and I like how the Arthurian legend is retold and shaped to fit the story more, but they should be more developed and fledged. Also, the worldbuilding is practically non-existing.

I like the simplicity of the cover artwork and how authentic it would feel. I was already in love with this book from reading the blurb. It’s a tough challenge to take on something that already exists and make it your own, but this was done perfectly.

The flow of the story was effortless, old legends rebuilt in a new and intriguing world. Number one place I wouldn’t want to go. No reading or writing? Burning books? Such a cruel world. It’s a story of adventure, magic and friendship, with new characters from old legends, genderbent, reinvented and kick ass.

Favourite character in this one, I would have to say Mordred. Out of all the characters he stands out the most, being the most experienced and bad ass relentless on his mission.

I like how the magic is woven in this one, new and exciting yet at the same time subtle. I thought the story was wrapped up perfectly and then there was that epilogue. More to come? I hope so. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
