This book came to me at the right time. I was in need of something light to read at bedtime, which would make me chortle, and I really enjoyed the way the author kept sending up and pastiching James Bond, such as the underground lair seen in Skyfall etc. I enjoyed the story - thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early read.

Was an enjoyable read, a new twist on the spy thriller, funny and lighthearted combination of spying and parenting

I enjoyed this book. The story is fresh, new and exciting. I like the idea of the unit they are working for - but really the thought of it scares me slightly!

Very well written and a real page turner - couldn't wait to finish it. Only criticism would be there was a lot of focus put on the fact the lead character was returning to work after having a baby - I felt this was mentioned too much / too often and really didn't need to be enforced quite so often.

Five Star recommendation!

I struggled a little with this as, although I found it gripping reading about our "underworld" intelligence agencies, it became a little repetitive reading about our heroines experiences trying to combine being a trained assassin and a new Mum. Very amusing in parts, and having been a career Mum in the 70's-not so very long ago, smiled in recognition at the put downs by fellow male colleagues. Sadly though found it dragging in others.. Overall a good read and would definitely make a good Book Club read but not quite for me.

From the very beginning Killing It was an exciting, light-hearted entertaining read. It was addictive, engaging and believable even if it was about a spy who is also a mum. I particularly loved how it portrayed some serious and relatable issues and the amazing feats the average mum pulls off every single day without batting an eye. This book was brilliant. LOVED IT!.

Overall an enjoyable read, if a little too corny/cliche for my tastes at times. Having said that, it is what it says on the tin so to speak, and I can easily see it generating a good following.

A definitely different secret agent story and a definitely weird secret agent. The book is a roller coaster of a story, a bit like the life of the agent mother whose life this is about. Just like the "heroine's" life, this story has its up and downs but overall a few more of the ups. Is it humorous, yes; exciting, sometimes; wandering, sometimes; mundane, just a tiny bit.

The main question - is it worth reading and the answer is an unequivocal yes or you will miss out on what it takes to be a "killer" mother spy in a man spy world.

Couldn’t stop reading this! The book is brilliantly funny and brings up topics that most women can relate to; how to “have it all” with a career, marriage, children and ex partners! Loved every page and read it within days! The adventures of Lex, GiGi and Jake should continue!

A light-hearted, fun, entertaining read! Lex is a new mum but she is also a trained assassin working for a secret government division. Her first day back after maternity leave and she is put in charge of a critical mission that could put the privacy and security of the entire nation at risk. She gets to use her new status as a mum as a disguise to help her infiltrate.
The story itself it exciting and additive, the characters engaging and believable, but the real triumph is the nod to the incredible feats the average mum pulls off every day. Being a mum is just as challenging as being a trained assassin? She almost has me convinced.

Reasonably gripping in the second half though this was slow to start and it was a bit heavy-handed with the 'I am woman; hear me roar' polemic on occasion. However, I did find myself unwilling to get out of bed on a Sunday morning until I'd finished it which shows that I enjoyed it overall and found myself quite invested in the outcome.
The main character is likeable and the whole story read like an action movie; very visual writing - I could definitely see this being optioned for a female Bond-type of film.

Sorry, but I can’t give a full review of this book because I failed to finish it. It sounded so promising, but it was less about fighting crime and being an assassin and more about illfitting clothes and leaky breasts.

Really couldn’t get into this book. It felt really ‘showy’ and couldn’t see the substance. Shame because the synopsis sounded promising.

Really enjoyed this book about a trained assasin returning to work after having a baby. The situation is extreme but the juggling act of a working mother is shown here in all it's guilt ridden glory. The other mothers she befriends are more than just stereotypes although wittily described. Plenty of laugh out loud moments and enough of of a thriller plot to keep me happy. Perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich, light and humorous with a dangerous edge. Would make a great film/tv show concept.

Loved this! Had me hooked from the beginning. Alexis was a great character and I really enjoyed following her ups and downs throughout the book.

Which is best being a mother or a killer? Alexis tries to combine the two and finds herself becoming paranoid in both, but being paranoid doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't someone out to get you.

An exciting, well written book which I enjoyed. At times it made me laugh and at times my heart bear faster.

Once again I was seduced in to reading a book by a great cover image. I know they say you can’t judge a book by its cover but here you pretty well can. Lex is a secret agent and we meet her as she returns to work after having a baby. What follows is an amusing tale as Lex tries to establish a work life balance. It gets a bit bonkers in places but it’s a good read and you don’t need to be a mum to appreciate it.

I absolutely love the premise of this book and I think there's lots of scope for a decent series here. The style and main character reminded me of Janet Evanovitch' Stephanie Plum series. My only criticism of this first outing is that it relies too heavily on the old chick lit school pta evening mother stereotypes. Surely the whole secret agent assassin scenario could have just covered something a bit more fresh? I did enjoy it, although it's definitely file under put brain in neutral and just run with it territory.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Alexis is returning to work after maternity leave but she is not your normal mum, she works for the secret service. Can she juggle her job, death threats and the scariest job of all - being a mum!

This book grabbed me instantly when it mentions a gun hiding in the Cath Kidston nappy bag. Her inner thoughts on killing the smug mummies, it was brilliant!

The perfect holiday read. This book was brilliant. Being both lighthearted and raising some serious questions about motherhood and the way women are treated it was enjoyable without preaching. The mixture of all the elements from mother meetings at a cafe to grand theft auto made this book the perfect blend for me. If you want a spy movie with some babies thrown in this is the one.
