Another well written exciting book from Lauren Layne. Excellent chemistry, amazing characters, I love how the author always makes you feel like you know the characters, you feel their love and pain, you feel what they're feeling. I'm always excited to read anything by this author |
I adore everything from Lauren Layne, and this second installment in the 21 Wall Street series is no different. I was so excited for this enemies to lovers romance mainly because I knew it would have the fake relationship trope! I loved Matt when he was introduced in book one and was intrigued by Sabrina and her hate/love relationship with Matt. These two made for some steam, as whenever the two are in the same room, chemistry flies off them. I'm falling more in love with the series with each release and I can't WAIT to read Kennedy's book! |
Just reading the description convinced me I'd hate Matt, the book's H. He seemed like such a douche. But low and behold Layne does it again, making characters who seem way too perfect and entitled to be likeable and somehow making me identify with them and root for them. Sabrina was the perfect foil for Matt, and by the end I was rooting for them as always when I read a Layne story. *I received a review copy from the publisher/author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.* |
*ARC kindly provided via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.* Another good book that’s been sitting in my kindle for a while. The best thing about being quarantined is that I get to read all the book I haven’t yet! I believe that this is my first book from the author and a pretty good one for introductions! Matt is your typical playboy: rich, cocky and very sure of himself. After a weekend that blackens his reputation, he’s in need of an image change. That’s where Sabrina comes. A famous fixer, she’s the only one who can save his reputation. The catch is that she hates his guts! Can a fake relationship between them really work?? The story is really enjoyable. There were times that I laughed and others where I felt the tension between them. Matt and Sabrina’s electricity is palpable, and their passion might not be fuel by hate only…! These two are both so wrong and right for each other. The ending may be predictable, however the overall plot until then is very good! |

This book was amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the explosive chemistry between Matt and Sabrina during their crazy adventure together. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a bit naughtiness and fun with this fake relationship and enemies-to-lovers romance. I definitely look forward to reading more by Lauren Layne! |
ARC received for review Sabrina and Matt have been sniping at each other for years, plus hooking up occasionally. Matt makes a huge blunder and needs Sabrina's help to clean up his image. Their sniping and arguing got old, but in the end true love wins. Friends Kate and Kennedy are up next, but can we have another book with Jarod. |

**I received this book from Montlake Romance via Netgalley for an honest review** LL has an amazing ability to make me love a book while also eager to find out what the end story is for the next couple. We’re introduced to Matt and Sabrina in Hot Asset where they were always bickering whenever together. You could feel how much they despised one another so I couldn’t wait to read their story to find out why. I enjoyed this one a lot. I loved the get togethers’ with their friends throughout but it didn’t overshadow them and their relationship. I loved their bickering and how steamy they were together. It was good to finally find out what their hatred towards one another was about. Sabrina, as independent as she was, was great and very likable. A bit of sadness when things got serious, but it didn’t damper the mood one bit. Whenever I had to put this down, I always looked forwarded to getting back to it. Another awesome rom-com from LL. Can’t wait to read Kate and Ian’s story now, their differing personalities should make for a very good read. |
I really enjoyed this book. Lauren Layne is a must read author for me. I love office romances and this is such a great series. Matt and Sabrina have such amazing chemistry it literally leaps off the page at you. I liked the sexiness the author brought it was a fun and fast read for me! |
its said that there is so much tension between these two that when they are together they either need to fight or have sex but I just didn't feel it. It was still a pretty good book I was just expecting more. |
Second series of 21 Wall Street. Matt Cannon, boy Wonder, phenom from Wolfe Investment is in deep trouble. His actives at his cousin's bachelor party in Vegas lands on WSJ and his bosses are not happy. They gave him an ultimatum to fix his image or he will be out. Matt need to fix his situation and he knew who he has to call, Sabrina Cross, his best buddy Ian's (1st book) best friend. She is PR genius who will fix any problems at a cost. When Matt calls her to fix his image, she didn't think much of it until it really required her to be his fake girlfriend. Matt and Sabrina constantly argued yet they were each others occasional booty calls. Now they have to play nice so people will buy they were in are in a relationship. Both were both cynics and they didn't believe in relationships. They had their own issues with family and they don't have positive view on relationship and marriage. Everything seems going their way until their view changes. Ian, Kennedy and whole gang sees Matt and Sabrina's relationship but they themselves can't figure out what they are. Now things are getting muddier than before and his dream client is ready to sign if he could let Sabrina take him instead of Matt. What will he risk his love or dream? It was great story and I finished in couple days. I love the chemistry between everyone. Matt and Sabrina's banters were great and I can't wait to read about Kate and Kennedy. Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake publishing for ARC for exchange for honest review. |

I loved it. I’m an Italian reader and I’d really wish more LL’s bookshop were translated for Italian public. She never fails to thrill you and let you fall in love with her characters. Matt and Sabrina are no different. A story that’s as vibrant and bubbly as a glass of champagne, set in the amazing and stylish scenery of New York City. |
I absolutely loved HARD SELL and the 21 Wall Street series. It was funny, classy, and a great romcom. |

Matt Cannon is the Boy Wonder in Wall Street, whose knack for numbers has seen his meteoric rise to become the youngest broker in prestigious investment firm, Wolfe Investments. However even his brilliance has not stopped his fall from grace after his cousin's wild bachelor party landed Matt's picture in the Wall Street Journal. The resultant bad publicity requires a drastic change in image, as ordered by the firm's leaders. He reluctantly recruits the assistance of Sabrina Cross, a professional 'fixer' whose vast social connections and ingenious methods have helped many clients get out of dire situations. The only problem is, Matt and Sabrina have a history - the complicated enemies-with-benefits kind of history. When they met several years ago through their shared best friend, Ian, the attraction was instantaneous and they did not hesitate to act on it. The morning after however was a complete cold douche, setting off a chain-reaction that defined their subsequent encounters - animosity and animalistic sexual attraction makes for a highly combustible mix, invariably leaving both burnt and scarred, until the next encounter when they irresistibly gravitate towards one another for more of the same. Sabrina knows accepting Matt's request to be his stand-in girlfriend for the next number of weeks is like walking willingly into an inferno, her sharp repartees and wit hardly adequate to protect her against thermal injury. As they spend more and more time together in the guise of contractual necessity, the hate morphs into something even more dangerous than carnal attraction. "Why do I get the sense I'm being insulted somehow?" "Because it's me," I say, reaching out and capturing and errant curl, just because I can."And because it's you. And because over the years you've built up so many damn walls where I'm concerned, you won't hear a damn thing I say without first filtering it for an insult." My first book by Layne, and I liked it very much. It had greater emotional depth than expected. Matt was not your typical entitled, handsome, rich bastard. Sabrina was just the right balance of strength and vulnerability. They both lug a fair bit of emotional baggage around courtesy of their messed up childhoods respectively and it took them a while to learn to offload some and share the rest of their burdens. |
Loved this!!! The fake relationship trope is deliciously angsty and rife with complications. Toss in the Wall Street aspect and the sexiness is ratcheted up several rungs. This book was so sharp, so smart, so well written. The push and pull, the quiet longing, the sexual tension... so freaking good. This series is officially my favorite from Lauren Layne. I can't get enough. |
Another enjoyable story by Layne. I love her books and this one did not disappoint. She has fun characters and their tangled relationships are always a joy to read |
Does Lauren Layne ever write a bad book? I think no. Hard Sell is the latest in a long list of faves. Office romances aren't always my favorite, but all that goes out the window when it's one of Lauren's books. The perfect combination of fun, sweet and sexy. |

While a bad-boy reputation used to be cheered on Wall Street, these days it turns off clients. Photographed with a stripper during a bachelor party in Vegas, Matt Cannon has to fix his reputation fast by getting a steady girlfriend… without actually getting a steady girlfriend. His solution is Sabrina Cross, a onetime-fling who is, more important, well connected among the Manhattan elite. And—most important—he knows that Sabrina hates him and would never accidentally fall for him. This modern enemies-to-lovers romance hits the heart hard in all the best ways. - Adrian Liang, Amazon Book Review |
Lauren Layne writes booknip for me. Her characters are always real, the dialogue always whip smart, and the happily ever afters always delightful. Hard Sell is no exception. |
Lauren Layne is the queen of romance and this book showcases what she does best. If you’ve not yet started this series you really need to consider stopping what you are doing and diving right in. Layne, never fails to provide a fabulous reading time and will sweep you away to romantic bliss. Fabulous characters, the right amount of angst and sexual tension take the lead in this book two of the amazing Wall Street series. Don’t miss out. |
Once again Lauren Layne managed to make me smile with her spot on dialogue and her engaging characters. The premise of Hard Sell is tried and true - the fake relationship between two characters that strike sparks in all the right ways. The relationship shouldn't have worked, but we readers know that inevitably fake will be real! This installment of the 21 Wall Street series could stand alone, but the series setting is strong and the secondary characters are layered enough to interest me in reading more. I did not enjoy the first person point of view utilized in the book, but it was still an entertaining story. I think what I enjoyed most was the banter between characters, that moved the story along quickly. I look forward to the next book. |
