I'm not fond of reading about women being kidnapped, but Jane Porter carried off the plot device in this book by writing lovely characters. I was rooting for a happy ending from the start. Read in one sitting and enjoyed immensely.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Mills and Boon Insiders for allowing me to read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Is it the stuff dreams are made of to be kidnapped by a handsome prince? Not just kidnapped for a short while but to become his wife! A lovely tale of a shy secretary who was loyal and trustworthy. She had loved the prince for years and watched him with other women. It was now her turn and it did not take long before she was falling in with the prince’s plans!

I adored this book! The main reason being the characters. Polly is so sweet. It’s great that she has been in love with Randall for a few years as it makes the love story between them more realistic. You also want them to connect more quickly as poor Polly has been waiting on the side-lines for years, having to watch his mediocre relationship with Sophie her friend play out. I love Randall or Dal his sexy alter ego! He is strong, powerful and controlled but vulnerable at the same time and afraid of love. Their back stories are intriguing and make you care about them so much and I love how there is constant tension from the get go. The settings are fabulous and the sex scenes so well written; passionate, emotional, realistic. This is by far the best romance I have read all year. Jane Porter is definitely my new favourite author. This is a must read for modern romance readers.

Part of the Mills and Boon Modern imprint and the first in the Stolen Brides series. Kidnapped for His Royal Duty by Jane Porter is published on 31 May 2018. Randall Grant's (Dal) fiancée, Sophie, was stolen as she walked down aisle by her Sicilian one night stand, Renzo Cristanti (their story is told in the second novel in this series). As the 6th Earl of Langston he required and still requires a bride. He kidnaps Poppy Marr, his shy secretary, and returns to Mehkar to visit the King, his grandfather, where he has not set foot for nearly 20 years. Due to royal protocol, it is assumed Dal had returned to take up his position as heir to the throne - he is known as Prince Talal and that Poppy is his fiancée. Poppy has always been slightly in love with her sexy boss but will she agree to his royal proposal and be the queen of Mehkar and Dal's Heart?

This book is enjoyable but rather drawn out. It has the traditional heroine and slightly detached granite hero. The book is interesting as it shows the change in Dal from sexy businessman to King in waiting and how Poppy feels left behind and isolated as a consequence of these changes. It will be interesting to read the second book in the series - Baby of Shame by Caitlin Crews, due out next month to see how she Tells Sophie's story.

Naughtiness 3*

Absolutely Fantastic Book, Jane is a fairly new author to me but I will most definitely be collecting more of her books I was blown away. This book has everything you can want and more.

I won't give spoilers but will say this, there is feistiness, naughtiness in equal measure, an amazing story a Heroine and hero you can completely connect with an even some humour literally laughed out loud at a certain point I will not spoil but I thought it was brilliant and recommend it.

Thank you Jane for writing this awesome book.

Jane Porter’s ‘Kidnapped for His Royal Duty’ is an enchanting tale about unrequited love, doing the right thing, and being true to one’s self, no matter how difficult it might be under certain circumstances.
The story of Poppy and Dal is one that made me smile, made me sad, made me hope, and made me think that love can conquer all; sometimes that love just sneaks up on you and manifests in mysterious ways. Poppy has been Dal’ secretary for four years, and after a certain situation during a certain wedding takes place, hiding away from the world to come up with a plan, to recover, to examine life and where to move from there takes a few unusual turns, especially since Dal suddenly, or perhaps not so suddenly, sets his sights on the delightfully loyal, innocent, and slightly naïve, although simultaneously incredibly strong, Poppy. In a world about as fantastical as the situation in which they find themselves, Poppy and Dal both have to learn about what is real, what is true, and what is worth fighting for, including each other.
This was a fast paced story which swept me away to the beautiful Arab kingdom of Dal’s childhood, where he got to reveal his true nature, and Poppy learned more about both herself and the man that she’d loved for years, even as she channeled that emotion and dedication into being the best possible secretary that she could ever be. I was with the story the whole way through, accepting each plot twist, each twist and turn in their journey towards their own HEA, and found myself wishing that just a bit more had happened with the conclusion, although I truly loved the epilogue, just another snippet of the life that they’d perfected for one another. I just found that some of the reveals, and declarations, could have been that little bit ‘more’, which was something that they’d learned they could demand from one another! If you’re looking for a most enjoyable read with a slightly high handed man who knows just how to treat the woman who has always been there for him, and the woman who has always known exactly how the manage him and stand up to him and continues to always be there for him, look no further! It’s always acceptable to ask for more from ourselves and from the people in our lives; ask for it from your reading too!

Prince Dal's bride, Sophie is swept off from their wedding by another man leaving him jilted and in desperate need of a bride.
Poppy is his assistant, in love with him and Sophie's best friend which made her the perfect choice for him to kidnap. I really struggled with the dynamics of this one. Poppy came across as interfering, after arranging for Sophie to be whisked away, and Dal came across as arrogant. Neither of them let their guard down till too late in the book and as a result, I didn't buy into their feelings. Overall is an ok read.

A Promising Start to A New Series, 4 Stars 🌟

Ms. Jane Porter is a bestselling prolific writer who has written over forty books and is a five-time RITA Award finalist. Her latest book Kidnapped for His Royal Duty, doesn't disappoint and is a must read for all fans of Ms. Porter’s work.

In Kidnapped for His Royal Duty; Randall Grant, the Sixth Earl of Langston or should that be Sheikh Talal bin Mehkar is left at the altar. Randall knows his assistant Poppy Marr knows why his bride-to-be is being carried off in the arms of another man, but loyal Poppy won’t answer his questions, so Randall decides there is another way to get answers and in the process honor the terms of the trust his father set up and be married by his 35th Birthday and so starts working on persuading Poppy to marry him. Poppy has had a (not so) secret crush on Randall since she started working for him four years ago and all she wants is to ‘save him’ and for him to be happy, but can this reluctant Sheikh reignite his buried emotions, repressed by the events of his past, so that both he and the kind hearted Poppy can have their Royal HEA in Mehkar.

This book is the first in the Stolen Brides series (it can also be enjoyed as a great standalone) however, if you enjoyed it (as much or nearly as much as I did) and you are as intrigued as I am to find out more about Sophie Carmichael-Jones and the former Sicilian race car driver Renzo’s story then look out for the next book in the series by Ms Caitlin Crews, The Bride's Baby of Shame, a must for fans of this new series and Ms. Crews.

I received my copy from Netgalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.

4 - "I'm in a bind... you're the only one that can save me." Stars!

I’m not one to hoard hard copy books nowadays, and apart from Sarah Morgan, Jane Porter is the only other Mills & Boon author who has that honor. I have read a lot by this author over the years, more-so pre-digital books than post, so I had absolutely no reservations about reading Kidnapped For His Royal Duty.

"I trusted you… I trusted you and you let me down."

I can’t remember reading many books that start with the groom being jilted at the altar, plenty the other way round, but when Randall Grant’s bride-to-be; Sophie, is spirited away by another man, he looks to her best friend, and his PA Poppy Marr to fill the role that has been inconveniently left vacant.

She truly cared for him… Deeply cared. The kind of feelings that put butterflies in her stomach and made her chest tighten with tenderness…

It doesn’t take Dal long to work out that Poppy has her hands firmly in the mix in regards to his errant bride, and to avoid the press, and in the hope of talking her into marrying him instead takes them both away to Mehkar, it’s only upon arrival that Poppy realizes there is more to Dal, than his English Title, he is also a Desert Prince, next in line to the throne, and to the people of Mehkar; Sheikh.

"I don’t even know you anymore…"

"…I suspect it’s because you never did."

Gone is the cold, aloof English Gentleman, and in his place; a dark, brooding and somewhat demanding man, Poppy fancied the pants of Randall, Prince Talal however puts those feelings in the shade, and once in pursuit, it’s not long before they are both feeling the chemistry that burns hotter than the desert sun between them.

"What has happened to my safe, predictable Englishman..?"

The first book in the Stolen Brides series isn’t the best book I have read by this author, but it was a solid start. Both characters had a decent back story that played a part in their eventual coming together. It took me a while to warm to either character to be honest, but by the end when they had both gotten over their own issues, they came together as a likeable couple because of it.

She was already his… even without a single touch.

I really liked the epilogue, and I am looking forward to seeing what Caitlin Crews offers in the way of story-line, with her book up next in the series; The Bride’s Baby of Shame can’t say I am a huge fan of the title, but seeing as this is the runaway bride's story I am interested to see how Sophie and Renzo’s story plays out.
