I struggled with the start of this book and found it difficult to get it to. However I persevered and I’m glad I did! Really enjoyed this, enjoyed the narrative and particularly enjoyed the ending.

Three and a half star rating.
A chance meeting in London turns Cara’s world upside down and not in a good way! Her nice, orderly life is no more. Starts off with a dramatic situation which makes the story very easy to get into. It’s very hard to actually like any of the characters and I didn’t see anything appealing in them at all. They were like missiles, focusing entirely on their targets, to get what they wanted. Cara wasn’t just selfish, but naive and stupid and it took her most of the book to cotton on to what was really happening to her. It was an intriguing idea and I enjoyed reading it. This is perfect for people who love dark, obsessional books.

This book certainly sent shivers down my spine.
A truly horrifying event thrusts Amy and Cara together fearing the worst in a life or death situation Cara reveals to Amy her most deepest feelings about her life she’s been drinking and she is scared maybe they will die tonight ...if she does it will do with them to the grave ...if they survive she will never see Amy again anyway so it doesn’t matter....
They survive and the series of what is to come is bone chilling.
I loved this book.

This modern thriller was ok. However I found I didn't really enjoy it even though I persevered to the end. There are better books out there to read.

I learnt a vital lesson reading 'Your closest friend' - never ever tell anyone your deepest darkest secrets in whatever the circumstances!! Wow
..a scary intense read. I devoured this and loved the characters.

Your Closest Friend by Karen Perry is a tense and gripping psychological book that I found compulsive reading from the start. the pace is fast and the characters are believable with their "stories, obsessions, secrets and lies". The storyline is deep and very dark - you think you know what is going to happen but you don't - lots of twists and turns. Absolutely loved it - will definitely read more by this author.

Oh this was a really good book which I enjoyed thoroughly! I couldn’t and didn’t put it down until I’d finished it....

Cara is basically caught in the middle of a shooting and is rescued by a girl called Amy and dragged into the coffee shop wherever zany works for safe haven....

There begins a story of obsession and its brilliant, a defo must read for anyone who loves a good on the edge of your seat story!

I absolutely loved this book which begins with a terror attack in London which our main character Cara find herself caught up in. She is saved by the quick thinking of a stranger named Amy who pulls Cara off the street and to a hiding place out of harms way. During this time Cara finds herself confiding in Amy her deepest and darkest secrets before thankfully the terrorist incident is brought to a close and both women are free to return to their lives and homes.
It's not long before Amy reappears in Cara's life however which coincides with events in Cara's life beginning to spiral out of control with secrets and lies revealed and anonymous texts being received signed by YCF - Your Closest Friend. Is it Amy sending these texts? Or someone closer to home?
A seriously good story told from the viewpoints of both characters. I found it particularly chilling to read the parts set around the terrorist attack and sadly this is all too real a scenario but it was immensely well-written and genuinely scary.
A great read with excellent characters and an engrossing plot - highly recommended.
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the advance review copy.

When I first started reading I was tempted to put this novel back down again as it opens with an account of London Bridge terrorist attack. Expecting an anti- this and that perspective I was pleasantly surprised to find that the novel is about Cara and her life. The London attacks are not integral to thr plot but do drive certain elements like the arrival of Amy into her life.

Cara is married, not unhappy but not satisfied and her ex-love interest Finn is constantly in the background waiting for her.

Any more and I will spoil the novel as the plot twists and turns around Cara, Jeff (her husband), Olivia (the step-daughter) and Mabel (their little girl). This is extremely well written as sometimes we know, sometimes Cara does as well but not always which builds up the tension and suspense effectively for the reader.

A recommended read for thriller lovers.

I received a free copy from net galley.com for my fair and honest review.

I really enjoyed this - fast paced, with a sickeningly dark undercurrent, I found myself racing through it.

I loved this book. I felt myself asking "where is the book going with this?" numerous times, and each time I was shocked at the next twist. I was surprised to find that Karen Perry is a pen name of two writers as I usually steer clear of books written by two authors, however Your Closest Friend was such a fantastic, creepy read.

A psychological roller coaster ride with twists and turns!

This is the first novel I’ve read by Karen Perry, and I’ll certainly be on the lookout for more! I’m a big fan of psychological thrillers, keeping the reader engrossed in its twists and turns.

The setting opens when two strangers meet in the middle of a terrorist attack...we are introduced to Cara and Amy, both with completely different characters. Due to this bizarre meeting, Cara is “rescued” by Amy, and to pass the time, Cara offloads some of her most intimate problems.

When the plot unravels further, and other interesting characters are introduced, we are thrown in numerous directions and left wondering who can be trusted and who has mental health problems? The chapters mostly alternate between Cara and Amy and sometimes the terror and intrigue are so gripping I found that I had to keep turning the pages!

I highly recommend ‘Your Closest Friend’ for fans of this genre, so thank you, Karen Perry, for a great roller coaster ride!

Galadriel.

Cara is on her way home from a night out when she gets caught up in a situation where a gunman is killing people on the street. She is pulled to safety and ends up in a storeroom with Amy and Neil. During the course of the time there herself and Amy share stories and Cara ends up spilling her secrets to Amy, things her husband doesn't even know. As time goes on Amy inveigles her way into Caras life. Cara is receiving messages from YCF which she believes are from her ex boyfriend Finn who she has started meeting again. However as her life turns nasty so do these messages, what is going on?

I enjoyed this story, it is full of suspense, you are constantly waiting for something else bad to happen. My only complaint would be that Cara is so niaive!! She blames everyone but Amy for what is happening even though Amy is the new person in her life and timing would say that she has knowledge of all of it. I have read Karen Perrys Can You keep a secret? and enjoyed that also, I look forward to reading more from her.

Thank you to Netgalley, Quercus and Karen Perry for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

When Cara is caught up in a terrorist attack in London she doesn’t think things in life can get any worse, however it is the start of a series of unfortunate events that nearly destroy her life.

During that fateful evening in London Cara is pulled to safety by Amy, a young girl who works nearby the attack. Cara is extremely grateful to Amy for saving her life as people were gunned down in front of her. In those terrifying hours before they get to safety she tells Amy some of her darkest secrets.

After that dreadful day Cara tries to continue with her life, however Amy appears again wanting to be friends. From this point on Cara’s life starts to fall apart.

This was a very gripping psychological thriller that had me racing through to the end. I was invited to read this by the publisher and I am grateful for the opportunity presented to me. It will not be the last book I read by Karen Perry!

A great twisty, and twisted thriller! I wasnt sure what was happening, who was the protagonist, or how it would end, Great book!

If you can get past the far fetched notion that a crazed stalker saves Cara from terrorists, "Your Closest Friend" is really rather enjoyable.

Cara has plenty of secrets when she gets caught up in a terror attack. Her saviour, Amy, helps her survive, prompting Cara to share her secrets. Little does she know that the real terror is still to come.

The twists and turns come thick and fast, as Cara's life begins to unravel while Amy increases her influence. Will Cara see Amy's true nature before it's too late?

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Cara is caught up in a terrorist attack but is saved by hiding in a shop with Amy. She shares with Amy her secrets. What happens is a spiraling out of control series of events. Who is behind the events, is it her ex who she is having an affair with, is it her husband, is it her husbands daughter or is it Amy. Who is her closest friend and how will it end. When it ends there is a brilliant twist that leaves you wondering. Loved this book and would recommend.
