Being diabetic is not a death sentence but reading about it can feel like it. The author tried to make a depressing and life threatening diagnosis a palatable digestion. He succeeded in several areas and I felt that without some of the medical jargon (which I know is needed) it would have been an easier read. Overall informative and interesting a benefit to those that have diabetes and those learning about it.

Very good book about Type 2 diabetes. Very easy to understand and packed with good information. Must read for any person with Diabetes. Very informative. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book. Although I received the book in this manner, it did not affect my opinion of this book nor my review.

I am interested in Type 2 Diabetes because it runs in my family. I also had gestational diabetes, so I understand that my risk of developing Type 2 is higher now. I found this book to be clear, concise, and user friendly. I like the organization, particularly the chapter summaries and the highlighted key points. I think the author did a great job of making medical information easy to understand for a layperson. I learned several things about Type 2 Diabetes and hope to use the information to make decisions for my health.

This is one book that I really needed to read. My Dad has Type 2 Diabetes and was diagnosed several years ago. What is interesting is that he eats a healthy diet and has very low body fat, something that is usually not associated with diabetes. When we think of someone who is diabetic, we think of someone who is overweight; someone who is sedentary and eats a lot of processed foods. I really enjoyed reading this book because the author named a lot of different studies performed and summed them up in an easy-to-read book. He also listed several ways to reduce the symptoms of diabetes type 2 as well as warning signs and other diseases that diabetes is related to. If you or someone you know has diabetes, this book will really help you to understand the complexities of the disease and what you can do to live the healthiest life possible.

Thank you to Netgalley, David Levy, and Hammersmith Health Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Having Type 2 Diabetes, I’ve read numerous books and medical articles over the years trying to keep up with current trends without getting caught up in bogus claims. Dr. Levy takes this complicated subject and breaks it down into information that the average layperson may understand. Much of the details in the book were very informative and very helpful in giving me new insight into how diabetes affects my body. Even though there were sections I felt weren't clear to me, I know it is something I will bring up to my endocrinologist at my next visit. This is a book diabetics everywhere will want to own.

At last! A book explaining in plain language the diagnosis, treatments, diets and studies pertaining to Type 2 Diabetes and more importantly Pre-Diabetes. Well written and easy to understand with helpful bullet points at the end of each chapter, it is simply the Diabetes Bible. Highly Recommended.

I'm diabetic type 2 so I was really interested in this book. It's interesting with a lot of information and ideas about the ilness and how to live through it. It does not substitute any medical advice but it can be helpful in discovering new ways of coping.
Recommended.
Many thanks to Hammersmith Books and Netgalley for the ARC
