Let me start by saying that once I figured out I had to read from right to left, things got on the right track. I found the dialogue very basic, but the illustrations were good. Even though the storyline was a bit shallow, I got completely sucked in because it’s scandalous! And who doesn’t like scandal. Loving the whole love triangle aspect. I’m looking forward to reading the other 2.

I usually rate manga after I finish with the whole series but I don't think I'll be continuing this.. Turns out it's not really for me after all.
However I MUST say that the art is reeeally beautiful so if you're into shoujo manga and wondering if you should read this or not then my vote is yes.

Yua is a high school student who is secretly dating her teacher. After the death of her parents, she is taken in by her grandma, but her grandma gets sick, leaving Yua all alone. Her Sensei opts to marry her so that she has a place to stay, but one of her classmates is his son from a previous marriage! Awkward...

From my understanding, this book was originally published by Tokyopop, but after Tokyopop went out, another publisher picked up the series. The art is absolutely gorgeous. While there are some generic aspects to the story (taboo student and teacher relationship), it adds a new and exponentially interesting dynamic to it with having to keep their marriage a secret until Yua graduates, not to mention she now legally has a son the same age as her! This romantic drama has twists and turns around every corner. I have this feeling that Sensei's son, Subaru, might just find some romantic feelings for his new mom as well. Uh-oh! What a fantastic first volume, and I am eager to read the coming volumes! (Received from NetGalley for an honest review).

I absolutely adored every minute of reading The Lion and the Bride. It was charming, funny and romantic. At first I wasn't sure how the love triangle was going to work out with Yua's Sensei and her classmate both vying for her attentions. After finishing volume 1, I adore both love interests. They are each sweet in their own way. Most protagonists in manga are cutesy and a little shy. While Yua is cutesy, she certainly has a lot of self-confidence without being completely self-centered. I can't wait to read volume 2!

The premise and message in this manga are terrible! A high school girl has a relationship with her teacher, actually marries him and all she wants is to have a family to take care of. She cooks, cleans, does the laundry, stuff like that. BUT I did really enjoy it. I laughed out loud so many times and just couldn't put it down. The story was pretty predictable and didn't bring anything new to the table. But like I said, it was highly enjoyable. Would recommend if you want a fun and fast read, something not to take seriously.

I finished this whole graphic novel (not that that is a huge feat), but it was tough. The whole premise of this made me uncomfortable - the man she marries is old enough to have a son her age. Not only is this man her teacher, but his son is in her class. I appreciate that the husband and wife didn't get into any... relations. I will not be continuing this series, and I most definitely will not be buying it for my library's teen manga collection.

0 stars for the creepy and inappropriate nature of the story. The MC is a victim being taken advantage of by her teacher. She has no living relative to tell her it's an inappropriate relationship and he has a son her age.

If that wasn't the focus of the story and it was a boy closer to her age then I would have rated this higher.

When I've requested a reading copy of this manga from the publisher, I knew that the plot might be a just like some romcom TV series. But I what I didn't expect is that even though that it's like that, reading has taken me by surprised me because of how entertained I was on reading the banters between Yua and her stepson/classmate Subaru.

As for me, I think Yua's hasty decision of accepting Ryo's marriage proposal is a big no-no. And I bet that there's no love involved when Yua decided to get married. Meanwhile, Subaru mentioned that Ryo, his father, only pity Yua because she's already an orphan and that no one's there to take care of her. A bit harsh but I think I agree with Subaru's opinion.

In addition, it's quite predictable that there would be a love triangle in Ryo, Yua, and Subaru's setup. But what's not foreseeable is whether Yua and Ryo will divorce in the end because Yua chose Subaru, or Yua will stay with Ryo. And I reckon that is what readers are anticipating in the succeeding volumes to be released in this manga series.

In general, if you like reading the romantic-comedy genre, The Lion and the Bride is a great manga and good for light-reading.

This manga is about a high school student that marries her teacher after her only relative dies, turns out he has a huge secret he kinda left out before marrying her.
If you don't like love triangles then you might want too skip this one, i did not like the love triangle i found it awkward because of the relationship between the teacher and another main character.
However,the art is beautiful, the texts were easy to read. This is the first volume in the series and looking at the cliffhanger from volume one, you can already predict that the next volume would be full of angst. If you enjoy love triangles( this one is a unique one) and a whole load of drama then you will love this book.

This manga was interesting! A girl marries her teacher in secret and then falls for his son. I was intrigued to read the next in the volume.

First of all this is a very well written manga. And I just found out it already has published up to Vol. 10.
The plot is sort of weird. I mean Yua is a very young girl and why would she want to marry so early. Guaranteed that she doesn't have any relative so she might want to have a family of her own. But come to think of it it's a pretty common theme in mangas. So ya I'm not surprised but I'm not happy either.
Anyway it has great graphics.
Plot is controversial but well explored.
There is always a presence of an emo kid in mangas. This manga is no exception to that. There is this emo kid called Subaru.
The touch of humour is refreshing.

This was a great manga! It centers around a girl in a romance with her teacher, but is than throw into a world of trouble when her grandmother passes away leaving her to choose between marrying the man shes been with or possibly the mans son that she always as said she hates. It was such a whirlwind love triangle adventure id highly recommend!

Yua a high-school student is having a relationship with her teacher Sensei. I do not know how that is viewed in other countries, but I did not like that this relationship was being romanticised. Being an educator myself, I did not find this appropriate especially when only after they are married, Yua finds out her fellow classmate is her teacher/husband's son. Ages are not given, but there must be a big age gap and while that is not a problem, again, I did not appreciate that a teacher was having a relationship with a student, especially an underage student. I am giving this a 2 star based on the inappropriateness of the relationship. The 2 stars are for the writing quality and graphics, otherwise I would give it no stars. I do hate to be so harsh, but this is not okay!

It's a little bit difficult to say if you like the first book of a mangas saga without read the others so I'll try to be clear as possible. First, I would say that I love the drawing, they are beautiful and they help to go inside the book and create a special atmosphere to the story.
Concerning the story, it seems interesting (particularly with the end of the book, I can't wait to know how it'll end) and I'm very curious to read the second volume !
On the other hand, I have more difficulties with the characters. Yua is very endearing and her situation, very sad. But I would have liked further details on his teacher, I find he is not really present (maybe it'll change in the rest) and I've some difficulties with Subaru. I think it's because we absolutely don't know to what he is thinking ! And it's frustrating ! I hope I will understand his behavior later because if he is irritating me, he is also an intriguing character !
I think I've said everything and to conclude I recommend this manga as a great discovery !

Beautiful art for a controversial story line. A high school student has a romantic relationship with her male professor who marries her in secret after the girl's grandmother dies and she is left alone. What is the need for secrecy since she quite openly moves in his husband's house is beyond me, but that is the least surprise. The biggest surprise is that one of her schoolmates, a boy just her age, is her husband's secret son who slowly falls for her too. The plot gets complicated and the series is just at the beginning...

ARC Copy...I understand its trying to be an interesting concept with twists but I felt it weird and somewhat inappropriate.

The idea on which this manga is based upon is creepy and makes me totally uncomfortable. But that is just me.

I think this manga was very well illustrated. I loved the art work. It has such a cute plotline. This is book one, so I will be moving on to the others in this series. I believe there are 3 out in the series at this point. I highly enjoyed it. There were some issues with it the manga but I am hoping as the series continues it will get better.

There's a reason why I try to avoid shoujo and The Lion and the Bride kind of proves why I should do that in the future too. The manga is quite basic and plays so many cliches it's not even funny. Yua is in a relationship with her much older teacher and when she loses the last of her family, her Sensei decides to marry her (!). The surprise is that Sensei has a cocky son that's in Yua's class and of course we'll have a love triangle. The story is very Japanese as Yua's only dream is to become a good wife and whatnot. The only thing that's quite different is the marriage, although it makes no sense. The whole thing is so abrupt and weird that it just baffles. The series consists of three parts, which actually surprises me. I just find the whole "should I pick the father or the son" situation creepy and because of the short length, this will hurry the plot. Yua is still a kid herself.

The cover looks better than the art. The art is slightly crude and the panels are mostly empty and feel like lacking. Sakurano's manga is thus very basic and offers nothing new and the situation could've been juicy, really. Now is just off-putting that the teacher is an old pervert, since he looks young, but even when he had his son at a young age, he's still at least over thirty or almost forty. I don't know if I even want to know what happens, since this is creepy.

The premise had the potential to be cute, but in execution turned out to be cringe-y creepy face palm fodder.
