Not what I was expecting from this thriller but I still really enjoyed reading it and it took me by surprise more than once.

From the first paragraph this novel is enormously engaging and it goes on to deliver intrigue, confusion, suspence and mystery for every paragraph after with only the merest flagging of pace midway through. The premise is hooky and well executed, the characters nicely fleshed out, and the ending satisfying. Just a really well written and enjoyable bit of fiction.

Forget My Name was a fantastic psychological thriller that hooked me in from the first few pages. Written well with a superb twist. Brilliant read that I struggled to put down.

Too many predictable coincidences. There are plenty more books out there better than this. It was really hard to get into and it droned in places it shouldn't.

A speedy read, that flowed nicely with the mystery unwinding in bite size chunks. Fairly unique in its premise, it captured my attention pretty quickly, and I desperately wanted to know who this mystery woman was, and how she came to be in the village.

As the plot unravels, and characters identities come to light, I found it didn't quite pack the punch I was expecting. Whilst there are some exciting twists and turns, there wasn't ever the key shock moment I was hoping for.

I was thinking about this book when I wasn’t reading it and I was so eager to finish it to know what has happened

When I first picked up the book I had no idea what was happening and I could never have guessed the ending.

It was fantastic thriller and was so fast paced

I love a book that you cannot guess the ending and this was easily a five star read for me

A woman turns up on your doorstep, saying she lives in your house, with no idea of her name or anything that has happened in her past. Would you let her in?

In this gripping thriller, Tony decides that the mystery woman is called Jemma, with a J, and despite his wife Laura's reservations he invites her in and sets out to help her find out who she really is. Along the way, we meet Luke - who thinks she could be his daughter, and the local GP - who thinks she may be a killer who used to live in the village and has recently been released.

Told from a range of points of view including Laura's, Luke's, Tony's and 'Jemma's' I was quickly drawn into their world and questioning who I trusted...if anyone!

I polished this off in a weekend and was hooked until the last page, even though I was a bit wary of reading the ending when home alone for a week! I'll certainly keep my eye out for more by JS Monroe in the future.

An exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin psychological thriller. I read this on holiday and enjoyed it. An easy read for by the pool with some interesting twists. However nothing particularly groundbreaking or unpredictable, with a few too many convenient coincidences to get to the eventual resolution. 3.5 stars

Really did know what to expect from this book but it far outweighed any preconceptions I did have

Sorry but I just couldn't get into this book at all - it started off ok but then it just went off the boil. Nothing wrong with the story just one of those things

I loved this book, I had no idea where it was going and loved seeing the story unfold as I read it. There was twists and turns the information was given piece by piece until the puzzle became complete. It was a gripping read and I couldn't put it down!

I so wanted to like this book as the concept is unusual and original. But unfortunately the execution let it down. I didn't feel engaged in any of the characters. None of the threads seemed to go anywhere. Did the police officer like the GP or not? What was the GP doing running all over the village in the middle of surgery? Then this mystery woman happens to bump into her father, who's been trying to find his ex-girlfriend for 30 years with no luck but finds her that night. It was so far fetched I couldn't get my head around it at all. I was determined to finish as I got the book from NetGalley but there were simply no redeeming features that I could find. I'm more than happy to suspend belief for a fictional novel but this required me to have just arrived in the country from the planet Zog! Then Berlin got thrown in the mix for some reason and then it was over. Oh dear!

3☆ A very Twisty Thriller

FORGET MY NAME is a twisty thriller, with a psychological thriller feel.

When I read the blurb for this book I was really intrigued. I enjoy my thrillers to be a little different and haven't read many books where the main character suffers from amnesia.

A mysterious women arrives on Tony and Laura's doorstep. She believes this was her house. But you see she doesn't really know who she is, or if she even really lives there, as she has amnesia.

Tony and Laura are quick to take the mysterious women in and try to help her reconnect with her memories to work out who she really is!
This screams alarm bells to me! Who would invite a complete stranger into their home who has no memory! Asking for trouble!

For me I did find the plot to be rather disjointed and a little confusing.
There was a fair amount of characters whom I felt were not particularly likeable or relatable.
Which is perfectly ok, as with thrillers you don't always necessarily like the characters but the amount of them meant it got a lil overwhelmed trying to keep up.

The storyline does stretch your imagination which I don't mind as thats the great thing about books you can jump from reality, but not all readers enjoy this so just to make you aware be prepared to expand your imagination to get into the gritty plot.

Overall Forget My Name is a twisty psychological thriller that at times had a sinister/creepy undertone.
But unfortunately had a few too many characters to keep me hooked and drawn in.

This is my first book by Monroe and I will be intrigued to read more.

I do recommend reading Forget My Name if you enjoy your thrillers to be twisty, lots of characters and a creepy plot.

I had high hopes for Forget My Name, spent a lot of the book creating theories of how everything would come together, but in the end this one disappointed me. There is no denying it was an addictive read, but the way things played out left me disappointed. I expected more, I was ready to have my mind blown, only to finish the book with a feeling of ‘well okay’.

Forget My Name sucks you in from the very start, introducing you to a storyline that leaves you with numerous possibilities. Each new piece of information leaves you with new guesses, to the point where you’re worried too much will be introduced. Despite this, you remain curious as to what the truth is. There are so many options you find yourself puzzling over which one will be the truth. Slowly things become a bit clearer, you have ideas about who the bad guy is and what the grand plan may be, but you remain in need of the specifics.

It’s when the specifics are given that the book stopped entertaining me in the same way. Things were too easy, things weren’t as dramatic as I’d hoped for, and I’d been hoping for so much more. There is no doubt everything came together, but it wasn’t what I’d hoped for after so much build-up. I’d been ready for something shocking, something that would knock me off my seat, but as it was I nodded my head and turned the page in hope something more shocking would be given if I just kept reading. Unfortunately, there wasn’t.

Overall, Forget My Name was an addictive read but the ending wasn’t worth all the build-up.

Thoroughly enjoyable with an amazing cast of characters that you cannot help but engage with.

So very different - and absolutely awesome!

A woman who has no idea who she is, has her handbag stolen at the airport; who is she, where has she come from and why is she standing on Laura and Tony's doorstep insisting that she lives there?

Forget My Name is a real psychological puzzle; my brain has worked overtime trying to work out what was going on but, not to worry, all is explained by the final page. For most of this one, I wasn't sure exactly where the story was heading, but I was aware that there was something going on that the reader wasn't privy to. Never in a million years would I have guessed what it was though! With some very competent and cunning plotting, this novel is adroitly structured and beautifully presented. It is guaranteed to get your pulse rating as the excitement level increases. Such a good read, and one I'm very happy to have chosen. It is full of surprises, and left me with a high level of satisfaction - as such, completely worthy of five stars!

This book bad short chapters which draw you in. It started off great however for me it lost it towards the end unfortunately

The first line in “Forget My Name” is “I can’t remember my own name” – a chilling opening to a story. The woman who arrives at Laura and Tony’s house can’t remember her own name but is convinced that this is where she lives. Her bag was stolen at the airport, she has no wallet, no passport, nothing, except for a train ticket to the village. Laura and Tony invite her – she can identify the layout of the house! As she needs a name, Tony decides on Jemma. Jemma with a “J”.
Soon the rumours start that she’s Jemma Huish that was sentenced for killing her best friend. Is she? Or is she a total innocent woman? Who is lying and why?

Jemma, not knowing her identity, nothing about herself, looks desperate to piece her life together. In this process she must rely on the kindness of other people, who either choose to help her or immediately decide that she’s the wrong one – it was really thought – provoking, forcing me to think what would I do in this situation? Let her in? Let her sleep in my house? Isn’t it too dangerous? I liked to see the different reactions of people reacting to Jemma’s story, and how helping/not helping her affected them. And what if you would be in Jemma’s situation? No memory, no identification, relying on the help of strangers?

The chapters switch perspectives between several characters, quite many of them. But each of the characters add a deeper layer to the whole puzzle, and in the end I was left really not knowing who tells the truth. There were many theories and many options, some of them rather ridiculous but well, actually maybe possible, and I liked this fact. It was, however, hard to engage with the characters, to warm to them, and the only one whose reactions were believable was Laura. Altogether, it was hard to believe any of them, so they for sure didn’t pull the rug out from under me.

The pace in this story was only right. There came a moment later on when it suddenly started to feel a bit flat and slow but in the next second everything was right again, as if the author has spotted it as well and brought back the pace. There were also some situation that were too far – fetched for my liking, things happening at the right moment, very convenient for the characters, and the fact that the similar – looking women were popping up like mushrooms was rather disturbing, stretching the credibility to a breaking point, I would say. But, in this book, it didn’t turn me off, they were easy to overlook and so I really enjoyed the story.

There were some twists and turns on the way, that’s for sure. Perhaps I didn’t feel tension as I’d like to feel, and the big revelation came really at the very end, but I still enjoyed this read – it was light and easy actually and even though it didn’t keep me on my tenterhooks, and probably lacked a bit in the execution, I was engrossed and involved in the story and it kept me curious and intrigued throughout the journey. However, one thing I could determine very quickly, was the character that I simply despised, not knowing their motives but sensing falsehood and bed intentions.

I love when there are short, really dynamic chapters in the books, and it was the case here – it made the reading much quicker and it was hard to put it down. The writing is so engaging, it simply draws you in, so clear and concise. And I didn’t guess the end – again. I suspected the “who” but didn’t know how and why, so that’s for sure a huge bonus point for the book.

If you are looking for an intense read, full of twists and turns that keep you on your toes, then stop right now and look no further.
It has everything...drama, shocks, mystery and a storyline that keeps you guessing.

We meet Jemma as she is named by Tony. Imagine turning up at a door step completely dazed and not knowing who you are or where you are from only that you think this is your house..
Only two people you don't know are now living in it. Strange....Someone is lying.
Are Tony & Laura too trusting of this stranger? Who is this woman at their door?
Or do Tony & Laura have something to hide themselves? What are they not telling Jemma?

I love when I'm reading a book and I have absolutely no idea where it is going. It makes for a mighty read doesn't it?

Great characters, likeable with a great storyline.
