Another feel good story where everyone conveniently ends up, after facing all sorts of trials, with their happy ever after.
It did not really grab my attention but was a good, easy way to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon

This is definitely a new favourite book and will be collecting more as Ann fairly new to me. Definitely has a fantastic way of weaving a great story whilst you get everything that you could want out of an awesome romance well balanced all round, I especially love the epilogue too, very sweet

THE CHARACTERS….

Nurse Nychelle comes from a family of overachievers and she was always made to feel inadequate by her parents. At an early age, it was diagnosed that she would have problems conceiving so she decides to undertake IVF treatment to have a baby after her cheating ex-fiancee broke her trust and her heart. On the other hand, the new doctor David, he has his own reasons to not want children, so when attraction sizzles between them, there’s a lot standing in their way.

I found the characters very enjoyable and pleasant to have around. David was probably my favourite as more often than not he was open with Nychelle and discussing with her. Nychelle had a pleasant personality and attitude, but felt a little too “good”. It also bothered me that she didn’t stand up for herself with her parents and going into hiding when things went sour rather than facing issues upfront.

Unfortunately, I found the side characters to be extremely cliche and not that well fleshed out, especially the parents who had, in my opinion, such a big influence on her life. I haven’t any more about them than what we were told before and during the gala. I know that main characters have to take centre stage, but I never really understood the parent’s motivations and it bothered me in all honesty that successful, career-orientated people are seen as cold, not interested in family and simply mean; can we lose this stereotype?

THE PLOT…

I found the plot a little bit too much in the sense that it tried to achieve a lot which took away from the main story. In my opinion, it would’ve been better to have focused more on their story and creating more romantical angst than trying to overcome general issues. I did enjoy the moments the main characters took centre stage and the focus was on them as a potential couple; loved the cute moments when she played tour guide for him.

THE ENJOYMENT…

I did enjoy this story although as mentioned before there some things did not work that well for me, or things bothered me. I found the story cute and quite refreshing in the approach towards its characters who treated each other with respect and maturity.

I would recommend this book!

Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put down until I had finished it. This book was really well written, particularly concerning the slowly budding romance between the couple. Nychelle had gone through her first round of IVF because of a medical problem in her past that she had been told might make it hard to conceive, and didn't know yet whether it had worked and if it had, she didn't know how would David would respond to the news. David had been in a marriage that had fallen apart after his daughter had been born at 20 weeks and didn't survive and had vowed never to put himself through the heartbreak again by having children. I wasn't sure if these to well fleshed out characters would achieve a happy ending, and I kept reading the book as quickly as I could to find out what happened at the end. Also I enjoyed the medical aspects of the story, there was just enough to add a little drama, but not too much. I really enjoyed this story and fully recommend it.

The Nurse's Pregnancy Miracle is a Mills & Boon medical romance by Ann McIntosh.

Nychelle Cory is a nurse. She grew up with very strict parents who cared more about her grades than her. Both being doctors they are both disappointed and always let her know that she should have been a doctor and not a nurse! She vowed that when she had children of her own she would always put them first and show them all the love that was withheld from her. When she was engaged she thought all her dreams would start to come true, but her fiance was a love cheat. They split up she made it her goal to become financially secure and in a position to go for IVF as a single parent. She would have her baby and didn't need to be in a relationship to have it! The perfect time is NOW, and Nychelle quietly goes through the procedure and now has to wait 2 weeks to find out if she is pregnant.

Doctor David Warmington is a very handsome colleague of Nychelle's. He is lovingly referred to by the nurses as Dr Heat because he is just that gorgeous. David was married but when his wife miscarried their baby at 20 weeks their marriage fell apart. He has gotten over his wife leaving him, but he will never get over the loss of his baby daughter. He is determined never to be in a position again where he could lose a child, the pain is just too much to bear.

When he and Nychelle spend more time working together on various cases there is a mutual attraction between them. Despite not wanting it, they both find themselves wanting to spend time together outside of work, supposedly as friends. They have the occasional passionate kiss but both agree to not harp on it and to pretend it never happened. Easier said than done though. Will they end up in bed together, will they have any kind of future together when Nychelle could already be pregnant which is the last thing David wants?

This was a book that once I started reading I couldn't put down until I finished it. It isn't because the book was thrilling, or suspenseful, it was purely because of the quality of the writing and the budding romance between our couple. I wanted to know if Nychelle's IVF had worked and if it had, how would David respond to the news. I wasn't sure there could be a happy ending, and I needed to read as quickly as I could to find out. I also really enjoyed the medical aspects of the story, there was just enough to add a little drama, but not too much to override the enjoyment of the romance. I really enjoyed this story and fully recommend it.

The Nurse's Pregnancy Miracle is published by Mills & Boon Medical and written by Ann McIntosh. Nychelle Cory is a nurse, who has overbearing Drs as parents who were more interested in her grades than showing her they loved her when she was growing up. Nychelle has decided to have her much wanted baby via IVF and bring it up as a single parent. She meets Dr David Warmington and is instantly attracted to him. He doesn't want a family - he hasn't got over losing his unborn baby girl and his marriage collapsing as a consequence of this whilst she has already started hers! Will her baby bring the pair of them together?

I always find Medical romances a bit hit or miss. They can be one cluttered as they combine romance and medical issues sometimes so much so that one can overshadow the other! This is Ann McIntosh's first novel and I found it to be cluttered. There are too many storylines: coping with overbearing parents; coming to terms with a lost baby and marriage collapse and entering a new relationship whilst pregnant via IVF. All three would make great standalone storylines but together, somehow, they just don't work for me. I found the book to be cluttered and struggled to finish it.

I received this book via Netgalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for an honest review. I am a #MillsAndBoonInsider #netgalley

An Exciting New Debut, 4½Stars 🌟
Ms. Ann McIntosh's debut book The Nurse's Pregnancy Miracle is a captivating emotional story of heartbreak and second chances, set in the fictional Lauderlakes Family Medical Center.
Nurse Nychelle Cory was born into a family of overachievers; she has never fulfilled her ‘potential’ (according to her parents), her last relationship ended when she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her and using her for her familiar connections to further his career, leaving Nychelle disillusioned. A childhood illness means that she may not be able to have the family she has longer for, so she is determined to go it alone using IVF, before it's too late. However, Nychelle hadn't accounted for Dr. David Warmington otherwise known, at the clinic as Dr Heat!
David has recently moved to the area and is new at the clinic, but it isn't long before Nychelle and David are thrown together, firstly by helping a patient which reawakens painful memories for David. Although David has his own reasons for not wanting to get involved the more time he spends with Nychelle and gets to know her, the more he wants her especially when he misunderstands and believes Nychelle can not have children. With past heartbreaks clouding their judgement can David and Nychelle overcome their fears and trust in one another to embrace their HEA and have the family they both deserve?
Ms Ann McIntosh’s debut book is a beautifully written story of second chances, with the characters issues covered with a sensitivity and understanding that make the book such an enjoyable read. Congratulations for an outstanding debut, I know I won't be alone in losing myself in your future releases including perhaps revisiting Lauderlakes Family Medical Center and the staff.
I received my copy from Netgalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.
