I spend a lot of time in my kitchen because I enjoy cooking, but I know not everyone feels that way. There are days I don't want to be spending all of my time cooking as well and that is what my Instant Pot is one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite) of all of my kitchen gadgets. It is convenient and makes cooking nice homemade meals fast and easy! What I love about This Old Gal's Pressure Cookbook is that there is a wide array of recipes all in one place. There are kid friendly recipes, plenty of ethnic recipes (I will be spending a lot of time making the meals from the Indian section!), and even some low carb and gluten free recipes sprinkled throughout. I love that there is a wide variety of different meals, all to be made in a pressure cooker. There are also some basic recipes for things like ghee and yogurt, as well cooking instructions for simple things like boiled eggs and corn on the cob (two of my favorite things to make in my Instant Pot!). I recommend This Old Gal's Pressure Cookbook to anyone who owns an electric pressure cooker. This book is perfect for both the novice and the advanced user.

I have a pressure cooker and it has been sitting in my cupboard for years. Never used. Well after reading this book no more. This book takes being scared of this pot into wow what can I make next. I found it interesting your could make Lemon Curd (mine is always terrible) and desserts with it. I remember my Mom having one and all she made was roasts in hers. This book has everything from breakfast, make your own seasonings to dinners and desserts. Each recipe has the time to prep, time to cook and how much it yields. I recommend this book for anyone who has been scared to use a pressure cooker.
I recieved this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Looking for a cookbook to create your favorite restaurant and take-out meals quickly and easily at home? Then this book is for you!

The recipes look decadent and delicious yet the author has made the instructions simple, easy and quick with the use of your electric pressure cooker.

This is not necessarily the book for those who are health-conscious or trying to lose weight (with the exception of the ketogenic diet as many of these recipes could be easily modified to be keto-friendly).

This book would make a great gift to accompany a pressure cooker!

I follow Jill's online presence and have used her recipes before, so I was excited to hear she was coming out with a cookbook. There are a lot of great recipes and tips in here!

Inspiring, great all-around cookbook

I came into This Old Gal's Pressure Cooker Cookbook not familiar with the “This Old Gal” website or any of Jill Selkowitz’s endeavors, but I’ll definitely be researching them now! This is an awesome cookbook with mouthwatering photos to whet your appetite. There are lots of helpful tips, recipes for many popular ethnic dishes along with traditional American standards. Reading through the various sections had me snatching up this cookbook in Kindle and in hardcover formats, as I can tell it is a keeper and will become a go-to cookbook in our house, useful for everyone from beginners to experienced cooks. While I’ve decades of cooking experience, I intend to use it for myself and also to help teach a young woman with autism how to cook. There are many recipes that will become family standards, from classical frittatas to international flavor favorites.

To give you an idea of what is in this cookbook, since it’s hard to judge from the sample, here’s some info on the various sections.

TOG Pressure Cooking Tips
These are essential cooking tips, including one of the most helpful tips I ever got in my decades of cooking: hot pot, cold oil. Don’t laugh; it’s a life-changing tip for those of us who cook with stainless steel. It makes stainless steel act pretty dang close to non-stick. Great advice on release methods, timing, safety, etc.

Essential TOG Tips, Tools, and Kitchen Accessories
Another great section of useful and vital info, including info on pasta, using potato starch to seal moisture in meat, preferred cheese and mushrooms, chili paste, fish sauce, bone broth, essential pressure cooker accessories, and much more.

Seasonings, Sauces, and More
Useful collection of recipes for basics, including taco seasoning, seafood seasoning, garlic-ginger paste, spaghetti sauce, tzatziki, pico de gallo, and more.

Breakfast
Includes recipes for mini frittatas made in mason jars, steel-cut oat recipes, jalapeno popper soufflé, and more.

Chicken Dinners
Includes recipes for a twist on mac-n-cheese, enchiladas, Polynesian chicken, chicken wings, honey garlic chicken, bruschetta chicken with zoodles, creamy Tuscan garlic chicken, and more.

Pork Dinners
Includes recipes for Pulled pork, carnitas, Cuban garlic pork, Okinawan Shoyu pork, Vietnamese-style meatballs, and more.

Meat-Lover Family Favorites
Includes recipes for French dip sandwiches, sloppy joes, tacos, meatloaf, meatballs, Salisbury steak, gyros, and more.

Easy Bowls
Includes recipes for Pad Thai, Vietnamese pork, egg roll, chicken taco, Cuban black bean quinoa, and Pad See Ew.

Indian Meals
Includes recipes for Tikka masala, mata paneer, murgh makhani, and more.

Jewish Favorites
Includes recipes for blintz soufflé, Passover vegetable matzo lasagna, gefilte fish, noodle pudding, matzo-ball soup, and more.

Pasta and Italian Favorites
Includes recipes for spaghetti with homemade sauce, chicken marsala, wild mushroom risotto, meatballs in red wine sauce, chicken piccata, bacon butternut pasta, penne alla vodka, and more.

Highly recommended as a wonderfully complete pressure cooker recipe collection that will benefit anyone from beginning to experienced cooks.

I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the publisher through NetGalley. My opinions are my own.

I love This Old Gal. Her first Instant Pot recipe (Wild Mushroom Risotto) was mine too. Her recipes are simple to follow, have great tips at the bottom of most pages, and end up with lots of flavor. I’d recommend this book for any pressure cooker home chef past the “OMG I’M BOILING EGGS!” phase. Favorite recipes from this book include Tropical Coconut-Mango Steel Cut Oats (which is great heated up the next day), French Dip Sandwiches, and Pork Carnitas (which we planned to freeze but uncharacteristically ate for dinner and then four lunches in a row.) Thanks to netgalley for an advance copy. Check out my instagram @mandkilleen for pics.

The new generation of the pressure cookers is spectacular. I own an Instant Pot and most of the recipes are set to use the Instant Pot. The collection of recipes is a large variety of types of dishes from dessert to main dishes. I loved the book as a companion book for my Instant Pot.

I received an Instant Pot for Christmas and used it non-stop for a few weeks and then stopped for no particular reason. The author of this cookbook delivered great recipes that I cannot wait to try!

As a fan of This Old Gals blog and then website, how could I possibly say no!
I love her. As a novice with an instant pot it doesn't take very long before you're pushed or stumble into one of Jill's recipes or tips or the constant stream of instantpotters pointing you in her direction. And thank goodness they did. The majority of recipes are for American dishes that can be made from simple cupboard staples and some fresh supermarket ingredients here in the UK, with easy to understand methods and scrumptious pictures.
The book contains tips by the boatload and recipes that work. It's that simple, they work! I've shocked family and friends with my broad range of recipes and most are from This Old gal. This is book is my new go to book for all things pressure cooked which is almost every meal!! If you have a pressure cooker/ instant pot this really is a must have.

I bought an instant pot on Amazon's Prime Day and then wasn't sure what to do with it. I was almost afraid to use it, never having used a pressure cooker before. Fortunately, NetGalley and publisher Quarto Publishing - Quarry Books, offered this cookbook to read in exchange for an honest review just at the right time!

Jill Selkowitz provides such a wide variety of tasty recipes, that I was almost drooling as I read through them. And she makes them sound very doable to make, even to a newbie! I KNOW!! Double win!! Not all recipes have pictures, but several do. The book is visually appealing and I really appreciate her notes and tips. She gave me the confidence to get started, and plenty of recipes to keep me going.

My only regret is that the review copy is a PDF that will expire, so I'm actually going to have to buy the book.

Full of interesting recipes for all types of meals (including, but not limited to, the basics such as breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, but also several types of ethnic cuisines that are separate, and a section on legumes), this cookbook is great for those new to using a pressure cooker while still being interesting enough and having enough variety that it would also make a great gift for someone who's been using their pressure cooker for years. So many things in it we can't wait to make in our house!

You get 120 great recipes in theis book that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner AND dessert! I've gotten other instapot cookbooks, but this one has food the way WE eat! Having grown up military, we eat so many ethnic dishes on a weekly basis, that having a way to instapot them and make them quicker is a true blessing! Most instapot cookbooks will cover SOME ethnic recipes, but not as many as this one- she has Asian, Mexican, Jewish, Italian and more! Even Southern traditional recipes are in there! If you are new to instapotting, this might be JUST the cookbook you need to bring mom's recipes to the modern age! It's make a great housewarming or wedding gift, with some additional favorite isntapot recipes tucked inside! It's a gift that will keep on giving!

This book has something for every pressure cooker lover. From meat rich dishes, international cuisine to soups, vegetables, to desserts. There is something for everyone. The recipes seem not only easy to follow but are with ingredients you can get in any well-sorted supermarket.

I'm pretty sure I'll try the Salisbury Steaks first.

I have had my instant pot for months now but never tried anything new. I was afraid to try anything new because I haven’t had any good recipes. This cookbook has been such a big help for trying new things in our house! I’m so glad that I was able to try some of the recipes out of the book. I have made the sloppy Joe’s in the instant pot and plan to make the pork carnitas later this week! The recipes are so easy to make and I’m thankful I was able to review this book! Thank you so much for allowing me to enjoy using my instant pot more everyday!

I own a pressure cooker and I know how to make a few specific things in it, but it ends there and I’m not brave enough to experiment with it to make traditional recipes. So I am extremely glad I came across this book. The author includes such a large variety of every type of recipe and every meal occasion. She includes dishes very familiar and dishes I would have never thought of myself, but look amazing and I am keen to try. This book is 200 pages and I can’t wait to try everything within. The pressure cooker is such a great device, especially as a timesaver, even more so when you use it! This is a must have for any skill level of pressure cooker owner.

This book covers a lot of the bases and I really like it. As someone who has dietary restrictions, cookbooks can be a chore and I'll be lucky to find 1 or 2 recipes that I can transform to work for me. In This Old Gal's, I bookmarked just over 20 recipes. Even if not all of them taste that great, it's still a win. What the book lacks, though, are photographs. I know that pressure cooked food doesn't always look appetizing but photos really help me gauge whether or not I prepared the dish correctly. It would nice if there were pictures to go with each dish.

I have to be honest my skills with the pressure cooker only really run to cooking all my veg at Christmas but this book has totally surprised me. Who knew I could cook all of these things quickly and easily using the pressure cooker. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of using it for any of these dishes but I’m converted and can’t wait to start giving them a go. I love the notes sections under the recipes as well so I can add my own comments and notes to each idea
