I cannot believe that I am reviewing Ronnie Turner's debut novel! How exciting!!
I couldn't help but be highly impressed by the complex intensity of this storyline. From the very beginning, Ronnie Turner created an element of suspense which was incredibly intense and very gritty.
For me personally, I ended up becoming very confused by all of the different characters, the different names, and the multiple throwbacks to the past. Usually I am okay with storylines which contain multiple characters, yet I felt as though I was missing something. It was as though there should have been another book before this one. Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm just easily confused (which wouldn't surprise me!) as I ended up losing track of the storyline which made me struggle a bit.
However, I would say that the multiple characters weren't so overwhelming in the last third of book and I pretty much had a lightbulb moment when things started to come together! I was so pleased that I was able to get into the swing of things, it made the whole thing even more enjoyable!
Despite my confusion, I cannot fault Ronnie Turner on her dark and twisted concept! I had tingles up and down my spine all the way through, and I would definitely say that this author has the skeleton of darkness and grit at the end of her fingertips, ready for another book.
A heart in mouth, chilling, pitch black read which made me severely nervous. A very promising debut novel - I'm really looking forward to reading that Ronnie Turner comes up with next.

If you’re looking for a story that will keep you guessing until the end and make your head hurt like you’ve been banging it against a brick wall for hours on end (in a totally good way), then look no further because this is it!

Three different storylines will at some point connect to make one great big whole but the journey to get there will tie your brain into knots in the most delightful way. Maisie is an ICU nurse dealing with a comatose patient. John and his wife Jules are going through the worst kind of nightmare when their daughter is kidnapped. And then there’s Miller, the creepiest child that ever creeped. What do these characters have in common? Well, obviously I won’t be telling you that. You’ll just have to pick this one up and find out for yourself.

I am absolutely blown away by the fact that this is a debut novel. Not only is Lies Between Us utterly compelling and gripping, it’s also amazingly intelligently structured. There are moments that’ll break your heart, some that will chill you to the bone and the brilliantly multi-layered, believable and complex characters will get under your skin, in a good and a bad way.

You may know I read a lot of books from the ever-popular psychological thriller genre. Often I figure things out before reaching the halfway mark. But not this time. In fact, Ronnie Turner has me wanting to read her book again in a desperate attempt to see what clues I missed. The different perspectives and timelines did require a bit more concentration at first but once I got the hang of it, I didn’t look back.

Lies Between Us is a dark and disturbing tale of obsession. Deeply engrossing, it kept me hooked from start to finish. A remarkable debut from Ronnie Turner and I absolutely can’t wait to see what’s in store next!

This is three stories woven into one. We have Miller who’s story starts off back in 1984 and we follow this disturbed young boy with his obsessions and jealousies. 

Fast forward to 2015, John is a has the perfect life, a bestselling author, married to Jules, they have a daughter Bonnie and another child on the way. Disaster strikes when Bonnie is kidnapped and they receive disturbing messages sent to their loved ones. 

2016 – we met Maisie, an intensive care nurse who carries her own secret while caring for the most vulnerable patients at the hospital. A man is brought in a coma, after being attacked, she finds herself wanting to know more and why does his wife look so scared?

How are these three stories linked?

So this is the debut psychological thriller from fellow blogger Ronnie Turner. I really found it a tense and gripping read with some very emotional scenes. 

The characters are really well drawn and realistic, I can tell a lot of effort has gone into making them as fully rounded as possible with their own histories and flaws. My favourite character has to be Maisie, she’s just been through so much and carrying so much guilt. Miller also held a fascination for me too, he’s just so disturbed, the term ‘born evil’ applies directly to him.

I will warn you it does contain some emotional subject matter, including stillbirths but I feel Ronnie has handled these with care and compassion. 

At the beginning some people may find the different perspectives and timelines a little confusing but I urge you to stick with it, this is one of these novels that your patience will be rewarded.

Whilst I enjoyed the story overall, I was left with a few unanswered questions. I also felt that Miller, at times felt older and I kept having to remind myself he was a child, but of course those are just minor things.

Lies Between Us is an intricate psychological thriller with believable characters and a memorable ending.  I am very much looking forward to what Ronnie Turner does next!

My goodness, Ronnie Turner has a dark mind!  I have to admit that I found the story a little confusing to begin with, with the three separate storylines taking place at three different time periods. But if you feel the same, I'd say stick with it as once I had my head around who was who, each different part was equally absorbing.

We read about Miller, who has to be one of the nastiest characters I've ever read about. He is a seriously disturbed child with a devious mind who seems to take great delight in hurting people. We hear his story in what is almost a diary format over many years, giving a real insight into his thoughts. Then there is John and his pregnant wife Jules whose daughter Bonnie has disappeared and they are having to cope with terrifying photographs and messages from whoever has taken her. And finally, there is Maisie, an ICU nurse caring for Tim who is in a coma following a violent attack. As she supports his wife, Heidi, she suspects that Heidi has something to hide.
Lies Between Us was a lot darker than I normally read but I did find it was a very compelling read. It was creepy and very intense and although some parts were uncomfortable to read, especially about what was happening to the missing child Bonnie, I had to read on to find out what exactly was going on and how the three stories would connect.

The book is very cleverly plotted. I genuinely had no idea for a long time what the connection between the stories would be. I gradually began to guess the connection between Miller and John's stories but was cunningly misled by the author and definitely did not guess what was coming. And I had no idea where Maisie's part fitted in until the very end. In every part of the story there were characters who had secrets to hide and who it seemed couldn't be trusted. Who exactly was telling the lies and what were all these lies? Lies Between Us is a real page turner.

So I hope I'm going to make sense and not ramble too much in my review but one thing I will try to do is that I will be as vague as I can in regards to the plot. This is because all of the little twists and turns are so worth discovering for yourself. Lies Between Us has a brilliant and tightly woven plot that had me questioning everything and everyone. I can't begin to describe how addictive I found the plot as I just had to know what would happen next!

You really are getting a perfect example of a book that will make you think, put you on edge and pull you in completely. If you prefer your psychological thrillers on the slightly darker side then I would definitely say you have found your book. I can't begin to describe how on edge some parts of this book made me with plenty of tension filled moments as well as being pretty chilling in parts.  

I was so intrigued by the three characters of John, Maisie and Miller especially as they are seemingly unconnected. I loved the fact that I was kept guessing throughout making my own assumptions and trying to get my head around things. I thought that each character played their part and brought so much to the story whether it was bringing an emotional connection or completely creeping me out! One thing each character has in common is that I was intrigued by each one, sometimes when you have multiple perspectives one or more voices can get left behind. However I think Ronnie Turner created a brilliant balance making each voice as important and integral to the story.

 I really didn't have a clue where I was being led and that made everything even more intense. I raced through this book in one day I just had to know how it would all end!

There are so many words that I could use to describe this book but edgy, dark and very clever seem perfect! Lies Between Us is a twisted tale of love, obsession and lies. Loved it!

This was an interesting thriller. There are multiple points of view, action, suspense, violence and a happy ending. I gave this book a 3.5 because while it was an enjoyable, interesting read, it was also very slow paced and predictable. I knew who our bad guy was quite early on, but that didn't spoil the ending for me. 

I really enjoyed the photos aspect of this book as it brought in a scary yet realistic element to the traumatic events. Just imagine if someone was a shadow on every memory you have of your past. They know your secrets, ones that you've never admitted to anyone. 

There is quite a lot of drama and loss within this book so if someone is triggered by pregnancy loss, I don't recommend that they read this.

This is a story told from three alternate storylines and actually can be a bit confusing to follow at times but I persevered and the book turned out to be better than I first had thought. Its a different kind of read and plot is well thought out , good characters and well written. All in all a did enjoy the book but perhaps not as much as I thought I would but still  a solid 3 stars from me. My thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital from allowing mr to read the ARC.

I had agreed to read this novel before I even had a look at the blurb. Risky? Not really. When you meet a book blogger online, you get a good idea of their taste according to their reviews and I knew Ronnie and I were fond of similar books…

The only thing I hadn’t taken into consideration was that as a blogger herself, Ronnie had the key to create the perfect crime novel, knowing exactly what us blood lovers would look for. And imagine one of the best and most intricate plots I have ever read, she did indeed!

I enjoy multiple POVs but Ronnie Turner messed with my head with those unique voices taking me up and down an emotional elevator. It took me some time to get used to Miller. I just couldn’t get into his head. John pulled at my heartstrings. Maisie won my heart. But I couldn’t figure out a link between those very different lives. I imagined myself looking under every word for a clue, like a detective moves pillows or crouches under a bed in search of something to help them find a lead. The characterization of parents, a nurse, a very special boy… every protagonist played their role perfectly and I never sensed boredom or repetition creep in. Instead, questions kept slapping me in the face as I was going from one chapter to another, one period to another, one name to another, holding on to what I was reading to discover which threads would take me to the end. I empathized, I ‘tututut’ed, I disagreed, I felt my heart break. Ronnie Turner uses the entire range of emotions to ratchet up tension until you’re begging for … well, for more, in my case.

Tension must be delivered in a certain way. Ronnie Turner’s writing is sharp when required, soft if necessary, and most of all, always spot-on. Lies Between Us possesses a powerful and utterly gripping narrative and I was completely and absolutely surprised and in love with the author’s skillful prose. I wasn’t reading, I was living three lives. I was breathing the pages. Ronnie, your way with words is priceless.

Tension is not all that a psychological thriller needs. A strong plot to support it is a must. And a strong plot is a euphemism for what Lies Between Us holds. Dive into the novel with as little info about what happens in it as possible! I admit I was confused during almost up to the halfway mark. But good-confused! So much happens – nothing seemingly related – and yet one thing is told after the other in an outstanding choreography that takes your breath and your mind far away. In the past, in the deepest of secrets, in the unsettling places you wander with a fright in the body and a chill in the pace. Ronnie Turner doesn’t let any stone unturned and offers a compelling web that your brain will love to pick at until the naked truth appears.

I had my doubts about the link between all narratives around 70% into the book. I was proved right, but it didn’t make me happy! I am seriously wondering how the lovely Ronnie Turner came up with such a brilliant but dark story!!!! Should I be worried??? Truth be told, I’ll worry if I’m told I won’t get more of this fantastic noir psychological dish!

Lies Between us is an astonishing debut, an utterly fascinating and masterfully delivered tale of darkness and secrets.

This book was unfortunately a let down for me. I felt as though it was lacking something and I just couldn’t get into the characters or the story itself

Lies Between Us is the authors debut novel and tells a story that alternates between three people with very different lives.  The more I read the more I wanted to know what the connection was.The author has done a brilliant job of building the story up that kept me hooked from start to finish. I am not going to rave on to much about the plot because the blurb tells you enough.

Each  character  gives something different to the story. But I have to say that I enjoyed Miller's rather disturbing story the most. The story makes you ask plenty of questions then BOOM the plot thickens and all the pieces of the puzzle are woven together. 

This is a strong start for a debut novel and I am looking forward to reading Ronnie's next book. 

If you are looking for  a gripping and intriguing read This is the book for you..... Psychological thriller fans will not be disappointed. Which I highly recommend giving it 4 stars.

First off, there was some initial confusion over the different characters and storylines. Some stories were in the past, some were the present, it got quite confusing until I got the hang of what was going on. Once I got into the groove of things, the different stories were quite gripping, and it was nice that it kept going back of forth between characters and stories, that kept me engaged. 

There are some stories I preferred over the others, and my favorite storyline was the Maisie one. Absolutely loved her character. On the other hand, there was one character that I absolutely despised! I was angry reading those chapters which made the novel seem longer to me just because I hated that character so much. Which, I’m sure that was the point.

Finally, I felt like the theme of this novel was confusion! I was so confused again by the end. I had to read the spoiler reviews to try to help me figure it out, it seems I wasn’t the only one confused and this left a lot of readers questioning the whole novel. Personally, I found the ending quite rushed, and there were so many unanswered questions. Again, which left me extremely confused.

Regardless of the ending, I gave this novel 4 stars rating since the novel was beautifully written and the twist, was a quite a shocking twist (I think? Still so confused). If you like to analyze novels, I think you will love this one! Also, if you figure it out, please let me know!

Multiple storylines (John, Maise, and Miller) come together in this psychological thriller. John's six-year-old daughter has been abducted, and it appears the kidnapper has been watching John for a long time. Maise is a nurse taking care of a patient that may not make it. Miller is a sociopath with a disturbing past. 

Multiple points of view and multiple timelines are used in this novel. I found the switching between POVs and timelines to be too confusing. It might just be me, but I tend to lose focus when books uses a lot of switching between people and time to tell a story. In this book, that meant I had a hard time getting into the flow of the story and never connected with the characters.

That said, this is a dark and interesting thriller. The mystery part was good, and I wasn't sure how things were going to end. Best read by people who enjoy a more complicated story that takes some focus.

Despite Lies Between Us being her debut novel, Turner is an accomplished writer. From the outset, she creates an atmosphere that is incredibly tense, and at times, very creepy, and I wanted to know more about these seemingly different characters with very contrasting lives, and what had brought them together. Turner's writing style is such that she uses words sparingly, but the ones she does use are wonderful and she is able to evoke familiar feelings in the reader that enable us to relate to each character.
Lies Between Us is structured in different time frames with each chapter telling the narrative of a different character: Miller in the late 80s and 90s; John in 2015 and Maisie in early 2016. It took me a while to get my head around this in terms of who was who and how they were connected to each other; in fact the book was over half way before I could even start to make the links with any confidence. This did frustrate me in the beginning, but it does create further intrigue, and paves the way for an astonishing twist.

Ah, well, Ronnie Turner has written a thoroughly entertaining and decent debut here, but it wasn't without issue. I like to think I'm an astute reader, however, this was on the verge of becoming too complex and confusing. A lot of debut authors often make their first book a little too complicated, and as I tend to read crime fiction to relax, this overly intricate nature really puts a dampener that aspect for me. If you are looking for a read that will challenge you and make you keep your wits about you for the duration this may be a good fit for you.

The premise is sound enough, and the three different perspectives and timelines may have worked, but unfortunately, the author changes these far too frequently which led to a disjointed story. As I said, it happened so much that in the end, the flow of the novel was sorely lacking and repeatedly trying to get reinvested in the story was tiring. What Turner did expertly was create relatable and believable characters that you can really get behind, and the tale is a dark, disturbing and suspenseful one, although I found the conclusion was far too contrived and lacked believability.

Overall, a solid if unspectacular story that certainly shows promise. Bear in mind that reading is such a subjective activity, and just because it didn't blow my socks off does not mean that another reader won't love it!

It is incredibly hard whilst reading Lies Between Us to remember that this is actually a debut! The writing is so slick and the plot itself is brilliantly complex and so so clever! Ronnie Turner you have nailed it! 

Lies Between Us is told through three characters; John is living a good life with his wife Jules and they are expecting their second child. However, their lives are literally turned upside down when Bonnie is abducted literally from under their noses. But to makes things worse, it is clear that this is personal when they start to receive horrific photos of Bonnie with cryptic messages aimed at John. Maisie is an ICU nurse whose life revolves around looking after others but it’s clear that there is pain in her life, something that she is hiding and having to deal with by herself. Last, but most definitely not least we have Miller, an extremely disturbed and obsessive young man who will literally top at nothing to get what he wants. Miller’s chapters were some of the most chilling narratives that I have read (and I read a lot of psychological thrillers!). 

Character development in this book is absolutely brilliant and left you rooting for John and Maisie as well as being completely creeped out by Miller! John and Maisie’s chapters are set in the present (although different time periods) and very specific as to what they are going through whereas Miller’s are incredibly personal, in his chapters we are privy to his innermost thoughts and desires, it is like the reader in within his mind…there are no filters for his chapters. For me, Miller is the stand out character in this book – most likely because, for the reader, he is the truest character, due to us seeing both his real persona and the persona he displays to the outside world. 

At the start of the book I was delightfully confused with the three main characters, their respective timelines, the jumping from one to another with seemingly no link but once I got into the flow I was addicted and wanted to know how these 3 characters were linked. I was truly stunned at the end of the book and kept thinking about it afterwards. As I say, very clever and I truly did not see it coming (if you read psychological thrillers then you will hear this strapline a lot but with this one it is stunning!). 

This is an amazing debut from Ronnie Turner, I cannot wait to see what follows!

Wow - One thing that really annoys me are thrillers during which while you are reading you can figure out or are told quite early in the story who the killer or antagonist is. It's like readers aren't expected to have enough intelligence to work things out for themselves. I like to be able to figure things out for myself and that is what was so good about this intricately plotted,mesmerising tale of love,obsession,forgiveness,childhood,kidnapping and murder that had me hooked in from the very first page,frantically turning the pages and going through a mixed bag of emotions as the story unfolded before my captivated eyes.

This is the gripping story of three,well rounded,realistic characters,living completely different lives and the consequences and tragic events that result in them being brought together.

There's John,happily married to Jules,who's perfect life is torn apart when their six year old daughter Bonnie mysteriously disappears. Losing a child is every parents worst nightmare and it was heart breaking witnessing John's mental state deteriorating as each day passed by and the police failed to uncover any evidence of who has taken Bonnie,where she is being held or even if she is still alive. The descriptions of the torture and injuries being inflicted on Bonnie were hard to read at times but not overly graphic. John's chapters were intense,heart breaking and terrifying and were my favourite parts of the story.

Then there's Masie who is a nurse in the ICU of a hospital and lives with her boyfriend Ben. My daughter spent a number of weeks in ICU when she was younger and the authors realistic descriptions of the quiet atmosphere,hushed voices and constantly bleeping machines brought back memories of those terrible weeks that I will never forget. Masie is caring for a patient called Tim who is in a coma and she finds herself becoming drawn into the lives of him and his family and begins to feel increasingly concerned about certain occurrences as times passes by.To be honest,although I knew her chapters must have some relevance to the story and how she is connected is very very clever. I would say that Masie`s chapters, for a while anyway, were my least favourite parts of the story.

Our final main character is a young boy called Miller who's chapters are set in the past and oh boy,does that child have some very serious issues. The things was that whilst I was reading about how he was treated by his parents and others,I did feel a tiny bit of empathy for him. But was that how he was really treated or was that just how he perceived things because of his mental issues. Miller's chapters were spine chilling,creepy and shocking and I dreaded getting to them and wanted more in equal measures.

This is a very well written,debut psychological thriller that really makes you use your brain cells,has some clever clues scattered throughout the story and an ingenious twist that I most definitely didn't see coming. I absolutely loved this book,couldn't put it down and look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Ronnie Turner’s debut Lies Between Us is a compelling and unsettling read that had me hooked from the beginning. I was really impressed by her first novel. There is a real psychological depth to Ronnie’s characters in this book, and they all have unique voices which made this book so easy to get into. 
Told from the viewpoints of Miller, John and Maisie, we meet three characters who will make you care about what is going to happen to them, and who will also horrify you as the inner workings of their minds are revealed. 

The first voice we are introduced to is Miller, a disturbed individual. We learn a lot about Miller’s early life and I could understand how perhaps he came to be the character he is. There were times when I did feel sorry for him and this was down to Ronnie’s skill as the writer as she peered into his psychology. Ronnie tells his story over different time periods, I thought this was handled really well, and I didn’t at any point feel lost. 

The two other leads are John and Maisie. John is absolutely besotted by his daughter, Bonnie, but the family are left devastated when Bonnie disappears. It appears the police have very few leads to follow and this drives John and his wife to despair. I could really feel their grief as I was reading and Ronnie captured the emotion the family felt so well on the page. Maisie is working as a nurse, and she is currently caring for a patient, Tim, who is now in a coma after he was horrifically attacked. Maisie also has an intriguing back story which Ronnie slowly reveals. All three characters have a connection, but you don’t realise what that connection is until you are close to the end. And the way in which Ronnie pulled her plot together was so, so clever. I kept trying to stay ahead of the game by thinking how the characters could possibly be connected, at one point I did think I had it all worked out, but Ronnie totally managed to surprise me with the final revelations. 

Lies Between Us is a book that will keep you enthralled and engaged in the characters. The tension builds as we race towards the finale and those final chapters will keep you turning the pages. I was desperate to know what the outcome for the characters was going to be and I wanted to find out who had kidnapped Bonnie. This is a strong debut from Ronnie and I can’t wait to read what she writes next.

This is a good debut psychological thriller that really makes you think. 
All the way through I was trying to work out the ending as I was convinced the three different characters who we hear from were linked somehow. 
I won’t say if I was right or not - I’ll let you read and try and work it out too!
I really liked Maisie and the chapters from her point of view really had me intrigued. 
Miller is very disturbed and the chapters from the past show he has some serious issues. 
John and Jules’ story is tense as their daughter has been kidnapped but I didn’t feel that I connected with them much. 
This is a gripping story.

Three different story lines are being told in alternating chapters. You know they must tie into to each other but you are not quite sure how. The tie in was brilliant and I am pretty convinced you will not figure out the connection until it happens. 

John Graham is living a good life, he is a best selling author and his wife Jules is a successful gallery owner. They are expecting their second child. Then their 6 year old Bonnie goes missing from their home. It quickly becomes clear that this was a well executed abduction and it is personal. Whoever has her is trying to mentally torture John. Indicating they know him from his past and they have watched him for years. What do they want from John and why are they so angry?

Maisie Green is an ICU nurse that is caring for her patient Tim that has been beaten so badly he may not pull through. His wife Heidi  is at his bedside everyday, as is his friend Watson. Except something is very odd and Maisie can't shake the feeling that things aren't quite right with this family.

Miller is defiantly the most intriguing character in my opinion. His story is based in the past, recounting his childhood. We get a look into his innermost thoughts and good god they are scary! Turner managed to do what a good thriller author does. She literally creeped me out and gave me chills reading Miller's chapters. "Sweet girl, funny girl, dead girl." Chilling words and trust me that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I was so excited to get an ARC of this book especially since it is a debut novel for Ronnie Turner. She did not disappoint! She definitely has a handle on how to keep you guessing all the way until the end. You know that somehow these three stories that seemed unrelated at first would tie in and they sure did. You just have not a clue as to how and when. If you want to literally feel chills go down your spine, spend a little time in Miller's mind. I look forward to reading more from Ronnie Turner. It is hard to believe this is her debut novel.

Wow – considering this is Ronnie Turner’s debut novel, it’s one that knocks the socks off you…. After reading the first chapter, I knew I was going to enjoy this book. Ronnie has weaved a fantastic and devious tale, where the reader is confused and misled into thinking one thing only to be taken down a different route later on.

When you read the different chapters told from the points of view of three characters, you are honestly wondering how this is all going to be linked? Nothing stands, out, especially as they all appear to take place in different times……

We follow John Graham, a successful author married to Jules with a lovely 6 year old daughter, Bonnie who is the apple of her parents eye. They are expecting another child and all very excited about it. When horror strikes and Bonnie disappears from their home, they become embroiled in the absolute horror of trying to figure out why this is taking a seemingly personal turn, especially to John. These chapters are quite harrowing to read as the horror John and Jules are experiencing is described in miniscule detail. You share their grief as they try to stay strong but they are slowly falling apart. Ronnie has worked really hard with these chapters, her writing is meticulous in displaying the emotions of all involved.

We also follow Maisie Green who is an ICU nurse. She is looking after a patient who has been very badly beaten and currently not expected to pull through. She becomes close friends and a confidant of his grief stricken wife Heidi. Maisie is very diligent in her job  but we get the sense (along with Maisie) that there is more to the family than meets the eye.

The most intriguing and also probably the most chilling chapters, are told from the point of view of Miller. These chapters are set in the past and during Miller’s childhood in the 1980’s. He is one scary and creepy individual and Ronnie Turner has done a spectacular job in making us feel this. He is manipulative and has obsessive tendencies that do not turn out well for his family and friends. Miller’s chapters are quite hard and harrowing to read but they are essential to the story. I think it’s the sign of a good author when their descriptions of a character can evoke so many emotions in the reader. We definitely get this from Miller.

As you are reading these chapters, you really are baffled at how they are all linked but when they do – WHAM! I had to read the last chapters again as I was completely duped but also amazed at what I had just read. Although there are some clues throughout the book, I didn’t realise just how things were going to turn out.

What a fantastic debut, I’m really excited to read more of what is to come from Ronnie as I loved this book.
