This was a nice collection of children's classics in one place. I think it would have been nice to have an illustrated copy of these classics, however with the Kindle version I cannot tell if that is the plan for publication.

A lovely collection of stories for younger readers or for parents and children to read together. I read this with my daughter and we both loved the stories, it was lovely to let her get to know some of the classics that I grew up with but retold suitable for a younger age group. I really enjoyed the opportunity to read these and revisit old memories.

I have enjoyed reading this book with my small one, the stories may be abridged, but they lose none of he magic I remember from my own childhood.
A simply beautiful book to read either to your child, or just to yourself.

Great read. Loved reading them to my children who loved the book. They can get restless if the book isn’t good but that never happened they loved it

These beloved classical children's stories have been re-told in a way that children can read and understand in this modern era. Each of the stories is re-told as a short story in a few chapters but still manages to capture the magic and character that the original authors created. I will definitely be reading these stories with my children,

I liked the illustrations and the idea of abridged classics for children. I don't really understand why retelling these classics is necessary if you aren't going to change any of the content. The classics chosen here were, for the most part, already written for children and I think it would have made more sense to offer abridged versions for young readers instead of these rather simplified retellings.

Wonderful collection of retold children's books! I adore the illustrations and how the authors retained the emotional and fantasy of the original story. This is a large collection with sixteen stories. Each classic is just the right size for two or three bedtimes.

This volume will be a welcome addition to a young reader's library! A number of classic children's books are abridged and retold within it. All of the re-tellings are easy to follow and may well encourage children to seek out the unabridged versions of their favorite stories. Sixteen tales are included in this volume so there should be something for everyone. A sample of what is included...Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island, The Wizard of Oz, The Secret Garden, Peter Pan, Anne of Green Gables and Little Women. I enjoyed revisiting these stories. The book is illustrated and the artwork added to my enjoyment of the book. Definitely a good purchase for a child's reading collection.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me spend time with my favorite classics from childhood.

*thank you to Netgalley and Arcturus Digital for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

4 stars.

This is a mammoth sized book! Some people will see that as a negative but if you love books as much as I do, then this will be pure heaven. I love the choice of classic stories that were chosen to be apart of this book. Each story is a favourite of mine and I really enjoyed reading them all. The illustrations in the copy I recieved are not that of the final copy that is available to purchase, so I can not comment on how the final copy is. But the illustrations that came with the edition I was able to review, were simple yet they were enough. They actually took me back to my childhood which was a nice touch as they therefore matched the stories. If you live fairy tales and those all time classic children's stories, then I would definitely recommend this. It's one of those books that you treasure and pass down to your children.
