I wasn't a huge fan of this book. It's well written and sweet, but a bit too sentimental for my tastes. In parts it felt overdone.

I have read many books by this author and all I have loved but this book touched me to my core, I have lived this book as much as the people in it.
I have laughed I have cheered and boy have I wept many tears
The stand out thing that I got from this book besides a beautifully written love story was that we all need to think of our own mortality and make sure our families know our wishes about organ donation, I have never carried a donor card but I will make sure my family knows I want everything they can use donating to others
That is where this book hit me hardest the fiction beautifully entwined with the truth. And through reading this book I became aware of how desperate people are for these precious organs and how without them lots of people don't make that day they get a new organ and their family is devastated.
Fantastic book real page turner have the tissues ready

What an enjoyable book that was to read. Initially I wasn't too sure where the book was going to take us as I couldn't correlate the two storylines, but eventually we get back onto a single track road and a very enjoyable read until the end. However, its a book that does make you stop and think about the clever use of the title, especially the more you read.

Vivi has the perfect life, good career, nice flat, good friends. Then on her 27th Birthday something happens which turns her world upside down and she has to re-evaluate everything. Going back home to live with her mum she feels like she has lost everything.
Shelley is happily married with a lovely family, living on a small farm. When tragedy strikes and tears her family apart how will she cope and hold things together.
Book is about family and the bonds that keep them together. Told in the stories of two women years apart (Shelley’s in the past, Vivi’s in the present)
Although they start out as two separate stories they eventually weave together as Vivi finds the happiness she thought she had lost forever.

Vivo finds out she has a life threatening heart disease. She is forced to return home to live with her mother whom she does not understand or even like and blames for all the problems in her life. This is an interesting read as it is not just a love story and a mystery but the reader gains an insight into living with a disability that comes from nowhere, no matter what your lifestyle is, and could kill at any moment, without warning.

Prepare for a beautiful, emotional, wonderful read that will leave you in a different place from where you began. Vivi has a high flying position as a lawyer and loves the life she leads. She is 27 and has lots of friends celebrating her birthday when she suddenly feels rather odd. She moves back home whilst her condition is sorted out. Years earlier in the 1980’s and a young couple have been left a farmhouse by an Uncle and are thrilled. It needs work but is the perfect place to bring up their young family of three children and an ever growing population of animals. Two timelines and two very different stories. I liked Vivi and felt for her predicament. Josh even as a child comes across as a loveable rascal and a wonderful character as an adult. I thought I could see where this was going - and it was still an enchanting story. The determination of Vivi despite her thoughts to herself of how life could be changed in a heartbeat. Oh wow! A difficult subject handled in a brilliant way. There is very much a need for more awareness of organ donation and should be “Opt out” rather than Opt in as it is now. Save9lives is real (google it) as is one of the characters in the book- I won’t spoil anything. This moved me beyond words and left me with tears in my eyes and many many thoughts. A stunning, beautiful read that you will keep in your heart. I have my own special 5** category for those very extra special books that have that Je ne sais quoi. This one deserves it in spades.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. One of my favourite all time authors and this was up there with the all time best one she has written. What an emotional rollercoaster of a read.

Gorgeously written novel about a young woman at the height of her career who's health means the life she has lived is no more and the future is uncertain.
Viv must make heart-wrenching decisions once her world is turned upside down by a heart condition so moves in with her mother and begins a new chapter,
She meets a man and the twists and turns begin.
Highly recommend! The ending was brilliant but so sad! A must read.

I absolutely adored this book, so much that even though I just finished it I want to read it again already. I've recommended it to everyone I know already! I loved the way the timelines were split, it took me a little while to work out how the two different stories merged together but I enjoyed it even more once I had. I loved the characters - they were so easy to like and to get to know. The ending had me in actual tears (which doesn't happen very often) because I was so involved and it was totally heartbreaking.

If I could give more than 5* I would!

I have always enjoyed Susan Lewis’s books and I enjoyed this one but not as much as her earlier books. I found this book quite confusing for the first few chapters, with different times and so many characters that I couldn’t connect with. It seemed so drawn out before things clicked but then I couldn’t put it down. It is a story of two women, Vivi in the present time and Shelley in the past and present. As their lives merge so do many secrets and lies. This is a story of hope, love and sadness that will leave you in tears at the end. A very emotional read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It focuses on a subject that I wasn't expecting but found it well written and with a bit of humour along the way.

One Minute Later is told first from the point of view of Vivienne – a high-flying lawyer whose life is turned upside down when she has a heart attack. Finding herself back in the seaside town she had wanted to escape, secrets kept hidden for years begin to emerge.

Shelley’s story begins in the 80’s when she is married to Jack and inherits a farm. Their life is perfect until tragedy strikes.

One Minute Later is the first book I’ve read by Susan Lewis so I didn’t know what to expect.

It took me a chapter or two to get into the story. However, once I had, I found the plot very compelling interesting and heart-breaking.

Both Vivienne and Shelley have very distinct voices and both are facing their own challenges and struggles; all relatable in some way.

The book is a good example of how things can change in a moment and to not take anything for granted.

There were many twist and turns through the novel which made it easy to turn the page, wanting to know what happened and wanting to know how Vivienne and Shelley were connected.

I really enjoyed One Minute Later and I recommend it.

I enjoyed the storyline at first but it lost me when it went into too much detail about heart problems and transplants. Although I am sympathetic towards patients suffering in this way, I think the in depth concentration towards the end slowed the story down when earlier there had been lots of things going on.
I have read Susan Lewis' books before and really enjoyed them so this was a bit disappointing - although having said that an easy read.

This is the first book I've read by Susan Lewis. It's an emotional rollercoaster of a book, highlighting the plight of those unfortunate and poorly enough to be waiting for a heart transplant (or other organ donation). It's certainly thought-provoking - it must be dreadful to be so desperately ill and know that your only hope of survival relies on the death of someone else.

Back to the book - the story has several strands to it, and there are some excellent characters. I won't give away the plot but it's a bittersweet tale. An enjoyable read nonetheless.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in return for my honest review.

I’ve never read anything by Susan Lewis before, but I really enjoyed this as my introduction to her work Vivi is struck down with an incurable heart condition and then her whole life changes - we follow her story as she learns to cope with her new life and what this brings. It’s a lovely, warm, funny and heartbreaking story that will probably make you smile laugh and cry at some point.

As sure as night follows day, you know if you read a Susan Lewis book you are in for an emotional rollercoaster of a ride that you won’t want to get off!!

Vivienne is a very successful Lawyer who is out celebrating her 27th birthday with her closest friends, when in the space of a minute her life changes forever. She has a heart attack, Her life will never be the same again.

Vivienne goes back to her childhood home in Kesterley whilst she anxiously waits for the call to say a donation heart has been found for her.

Growing up she never knew who her real dad was and now she wants to find out the truth whether her mother helps her or not.

The other timeline is in the 80’s with the family of Shelley and Jack who have inherited the farm and have 3 children. Without giving anything away they experience heartache and have their own secrets to keep.

Loved this book and how the 2 seemingly different timelines come together with their tales of heartbreak and survival.

Beautifully written with likeable characters that stand out. You made me laugh and cry sometimes even at the same time, but most of all it made me sit back and really think about organ donation from both sides of the story.

If you want a story you can sink you’re teeth into, that will keep you thinking about it long after finishing it then this is definitely the book for you.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Another brilliant book by Susan Lewis. Different to the usual style but still a good book.

It covers the sensitive subject of organ donation and a family's lives over 2 generations and how it impacted over the years
