The Wedding guest is found dead in the toilets by a bridesmaid wearing a designer dress and shoes but no identification. She hasn't been invited to the wedding and no-one knows who she is. The setting is a former strip club that had been a church and the wedding theme of was Saints and Sinners.
The story is told by Alex Delaware a psychology consultant who tries to solve the murder by getting in to the mind of the killer.
The plot twists and turns and sometimes seems to loose its way but has a good twist at the end.

Love Jonathan Kellermans books this one took me a while to get into but once I did absolutely loved it

This is the latest in a long running series, i haven't read all the books but I've read many of them.

The relationship between Alex and Milo is as good as ever and if you've read the books you know what you're getting.

A bridesmaid finds a body at a wedding and no one seems to know who the victim was. There are numerous suspects and plenty of secrets to be uncovered.

I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one in the series.

Unfortunately I have been unable to read this copy of the book, which is a shame as it looked like it would be a really good read.

Like others I appear to have got a copy where the paragraphs were all jumbled up and repeated themselves.

#TheWeddingGuest #NetGalley I really tried to read this book as I love the Alex Delaware series but the formatting of the book was all over the place with chunks missing repeated paragraphs and everything all over the place. I tried to work out how to read it but after 5 chapters it was exasperating. A real shame as I was looking forward to the latest in this series.

It's your wedding and all I going well then a wedding guest no one seems to know is found dead in the cloak room sat on the throne, so the police become the evening entertainment asking lots of questions. Surprise surprise is not going down that well but the police and profile expert Alex enters the game that is obviously not a game.. it's has some great charters and I loved that some of them are a bit over the top that it is a book you can escape from reality which is what true entertainment should let you do. It's not so far fetched you think you are in GA GA land but enough that you are not in your own world hope that makes sense. What I'm saying is I really enjoyed this novel and escaping from all around me.
There are some twists you won't see coming it's a novel to escape with if your into who done it think you will enjoy it but guessing you may not guess it but I will let you try to prove me wrong One thing I can tell you the murdered girl likes red and a question do you like someone with brains?.

Sorry but I couldn't review this - the copy I received just didn't make sense with chunks missing and other bits repeated. A pity - I was looking forward to it.

I have been an avid reader of the Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis books for more years than I care to admit to, so was more than happy to be given the opportunity to read the latest one.

The book opens at a wedding reception with a bridesmaid finding the body of a woman in a bathroom, she has been strangled, prior to that was drugged with a heroin/fentynal cocktail (I mention that because the groom's father is a vet and uses the drug)

No one at the wedding reception admits to recognising the woman, and so the hunt begins, with Milo bringing on his old friend, psychologist Alex Delaware to help him hunt out the perpetrator.

Well written as always, unfortunately I didn't like many of the characters, but it's a murder/mystery so probably best I don't. Also Robyn appears more than she has done for a while, jury is out for me with regards to her character.

All in all a good solid book, and would recommend.

Thank you Netgalley and Random House for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not my usual genre but this book had me gripped throughout. Will be looking out for more of the same!

A big, brash, glossy murder investigation with a nice line in social satire and snappy dialogue. Great buddy-chat between Milo and Alex Delaware, and a twisty-turny plot that starts with a dead wedding guest and ends up somewhere different - fun, pop-corny, downtime reading.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher and most importantly one of my very favourite authors. How Alex Delaware is my hero and his side kick Milo. Another great mystery for the dynamic pair to solve. Loved it and well worth reading

Another great chapter in the lives of Alex and Milo not forgetting Robin and Blanche!
Complex and twisting story and as usual I had no idea where it was going.
Fab.

I have read books by this author before, so had high expectations. The plot was fast paced and gripping, skipping from suspect to suspect and kept me guessing to the end. Plenty of twists and turns throughout. The characters are well thought out and interact with each other in an easy and believable way. One to add to your bookshelf if you enjoy a good mystery .

I have not read the previous novels in the series. But I just might.
Intersting charachters. Unusually healthy relationship between main character and his partner.
Enough suspense and suspects to make it interesting and fun.
Goid read to rest exhausted brain.

Unfortunately, like another review, I unfortunately cannot complete reading this book which I am devastated about, it would be have been my first Jonathan Kellerman book and the blurb sounded right up my street but for some reason the paragraphs are repeating over other sections from previous sections, its impossible to follow as a result, its like the book is on it twice and jumbled between itself, I was getting dizzy trying to figure it out. Devastated is an understatement, I was really looking forward to reading it!! Will hopefully pick it up on amazon once its released.

Unfortunately, I cannot review this book because it was unreadable. There is a serious problem with the formatting, the paragraphs start in the middle of a sentence, several paragraphs are repeated and somehow it is all a complete mess. I tried to figure out a scheme to understand how to follow the story, but it was simply impossible. Therefore, the rating does not refer to the content at all.

I ha e not read a J Keller an book for several years but was delighted to read about the ongoing partnership between Sturgis and Delaware. Intriguing twists and turns which keep you guessing until the end. The death of a lady at a wedding reception is far from what is seems, very enjoyable.

My first venture into the series and I found it quite average. Maybe it would be more satisfying to build loyalty with the earlier books - I may try them but not convinced

I’ve read almost (if not) all of the Alex Delaware / Milo Sturgis series by Jonathan Kellerman and it was one of the first series I remember reading about a psychologist helping the police with investigations.

I commented a few books ago that I felt that the series had perhaps become a little lacklustre and run its course but Kellerman proved me wrong with his more recent releases, Night Moves and Breakdown.

I enjoyed this new release and noted that Kellerman included a bit of introspection on Alex’s behalf that I couldn’t remember seeing for some time. This book actually offers a good backstory snapshot for newcomers and summarises Alex’s relationship with long-term partner Robyn and reflects on their decision not to marry or have children, as well as the fact his friend Milo has chosen not to marry his long-term love. In addition there’s a brief reference to his own (and Robyn’s) childhoods and parents and I had to cast my mind back to try to remember what I knew about Alex’s past.

Robyn features a little more in this book and I was okay with that. When I whinged about the series a while ago I commented that I didn’t like Robyn. I wasn’t sure why and I remember their on-again / off-again stages. This time she’s around a little more to act as a sounding board for Alex over dinner and there are a couple of subtle sex scenes that I couldn’t remember reading for a while (if ever) in this series.

I also noted a couple of surprises in Kellerman’s writing - slightly tongue-in-cheek or snarky prose…. Milo saying he’d do something “When swine aviate,” which took me a second before I chuckled (p 65). And later - though the film / television industry’s often referenced in the series because of its location - there’s mention of ‘celebrities who’ve achieved fame for merely existing’. *snigger*

The whodunit / mystery here takes a little while to get going and it’s probably more reflective of real-life investigations; the lack of evidence and information thwarting detectives and so forth, but we’re introduced to some of the major players in the beginning and remain suspicious of their involvement until the end when a few twists take us elsewhere.

It’s sometimes a bit hard to play armchair detective when the clues needed aren’t uncovered until the very end or we’re not provided with information, which is the case here, but it’s still an interesting mystery nonetheless.

3.5 stars
